I Often Meet People Here...
"That's really cool," she said, looking at the cover of the book, trying to memorize it so she would be able to find it in the school library later. Though, her memory was bound to fail her and she knew she wouldn't remember it when the time came.
Rose rubbed her lips together. "I haven't had a good pumpkin pie in forever. Is it... The same aunt who wrote, Or um, helped to write the book?" If so, his aunt was really cool, and he obviously had a good relationship with her. If not, he had cool aunts.
"Aw, that's so sweet. I see she's a poet as well," Rose said back, hanging on every beautiful word that came from the letter. She hadn't expected him to read it to her, that was a personal part of his life. "It's really good."
It was sappy, yes. But Rose was also really sappy. It sounded like something she would write to someone she loved when she was concerned about them and wanted to provide them with a little encouragement.
"You lucked out in the aunt... Area." she commented, no hint to any jealousy in her voice. She loved her Aunt Coco, she was spunky and fun to be around. Her Aunt Coco was the only aunt she had that she had actually remembered meeting. She thought she remembered her dad having a sister or two, but she hadn't been that old when her family became not welcome with her dad's family. And her other aunt had been disowned for being a muggle lover- Rose had only known about her for maybe two or three weeks.
An idea popped in her head- maybe her Aunt Coco could convince her mom to spend more time with Jess. She decided she would write her to ask her about that.
Back to Aldor.
"So what do you like to do? Obviously, I mean," she guestursd to the book in his hands, "Reading. Anything else interesting that comes to mind? And... What would you say... your favorite subject is?"

He would blush slightly as he thought of what he liked, yes, it was obvious he loves reading, but there is many more things that are probably strange for a kid like him.
And so he started with what his favorite subject was. ''Well- Anything that involves magical beings or plants- so yeah heh-'' He would take a deep breath.
''I like- girls?-'' He would stop for a minute, as he chuckled at that awkward comment. ''Heh, apart- of that, I like- music, quite a lot- I'm not great at singing or anything really- but I- enjoy Metal and- Really Heavy Rock- and some Death Metal- Too- ''
He would hold his hands togheter, fidgetting with his fingers, as he kept thiking, he is not used to talk about this kind of topic, since he really isn't that much of a popular person, but also because he thinks it is quite awkward.
''I also like- talking, even though I avoid people because I have a few problems both in my house and- the rest- I am not a problematic person is just that- I am quite um- an easy target for bullying because of my- weird way of being, I mean- I haven't gotten- punched in the face yet, but I do get- a wide variety of pranks and verbal threats- also, as a very perceptive person- It is quite easy to hear who is talking behind my back- and, being judged for being weird or- being a Muggle-Born child- ''
He would play with his hair, as he broke eye contact with her, he seems- embarrased.

I Often Meet People Here...
Girls?
Okay?
Rose wasn't sure exactly what that was supposed to mean, but she tried to push it out of her mind.
A quiet, socially awkward introvert who enjoyed heavy metal rock music. Rose loved people like that, people who shattered the stereotype into a million tiny pieces.
As for heavy metal... Rose didn't dislike rock music, but it was really not her type of music.
Really, it was not her type of music.
He confessed he was the subject of bullies often, and even though they didn't know it, he knew they were talking about him behind his back. Rose looked him in the eye and commented, "There's no such thing as weird. Because, even though some people don't seem like it, everyone is weird in some way, so that makes us all normal." She wrinkled up her nose. "And there's no shame in being Muggle-Born. That just means that the world meant for you to be here, despite you being born to muggles, that you defied the odds of being magical. That means that you are just extra amazing."
If he had thicker skin, she would have told him, "Don't you dare be ashamed of how you were born! You are just as amazing as a pureblood whose family dates back wizarding blood from the beginning of time!"
Plus, some purebloods were a little ingnorant to the muggle world. For example, a very sweet but a little lost pureblood, @Eyre Reeves who ate a band-aid.
But Aldor didn't need anyone else telling him he was wrong or his beliefs weren't valid.
"Don't be ashamed of that," she finished gently. "I'm a half-blood, and as you can clearly see, I'm not any better than you."
Rose smiled, her eyes turning back to the Quidditch players. "Do you have any siblings? Are they here?"

The boy would let out a soft smile as he kept fidgetting with his thumbs, he seemed to be alright until she asked if he had any siblings and if they were in Hogwarts.
''I- have 3 siblings as far as I know-'' As far as he knows? That was a really strange thing to say.
''Elizabeth is- my oldest sibling- then uh- Marcus, I believe, then I am the third-'' It was strange, the way he spoke about them seemed like he was struggling to remember their names.
''Lastly uh- Margaret- she was born a year ago and- I haven't seen her yet-'' That was probably the strongest clue on why he acts in such a strange way when he speaks about his family, maybe they don't have a good communication, after all, he just mentioned living with his aunt for a long time.
''I uh- Only receive letters from them like- twice in the year, thrice if I'm lucky- And all of the letters have the same structure- First they greet me, saying 'hello, dear son!' Then they start talking about Elizabeth and Marcus' achivements, and they a goodbye-''
Instead of being sad Aldor seemed quite mad, as if this really made him lose his temper, maybe all of the contained anger explains why he is anxious all the time, and why he talks about his aunt like she is the best person in this world.

I Often Meet People Here...
It dawned on Rose way too slowly. "So... you live with your aunt then?" Of course! He had known so much about her, and admired her so much. She sent him encouragement in her letter.
Rose felt bad for Aldor, that he only heard from his family two or three times a year, and they only talked about his other siblings when they did. "Oh. I'm sorry for bringing it up," Rose said, blushing. "I didn't know. That... that must be infuriating."
More than she felt bad for him, she felt guilty for being mad at her mom- she was doing the best she could, wasn't she? At least she loved Rose- at least she treated all her children- well...
Rose ducked her head, realizing how lucky she was to have such a close relationship with each of her siblings- they relied on each other, lovingly teased each other, and supported each other, while Aldor... he barely knew his family, and he hadn't even met his youngest sister yet. Rose's mother even looked like an angel compared to how much Aldor was being neglected by his parents.
"It's very valid for you to be mad at them- I mean, they are downright neglecting you and favoring your siblings. I'm sure deep down they're good people, I mean, they had you, but, gosh, that..." She readjusted her hair, pulling all her curls over one shoulder, looking guilty with her burning face. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have brought it up."
There was a ringing pause between them. Rose felt the need to break it and said, "So if you like reading, what kinds of books do you like most? Do you have, like, a preference, or a favorite? Like, fantasy... or realistic fiction... or nonfiction books?"

Aldor would try not to focus on everything that they talked before, and decided to answer her question, which he actually can not answer.
''I do not have- a favorite type of book- I mean, I feel a little more used to poetry and- magical creatures since well- that is the type of books my aunt used to write- that she writes actually, she decided to keep going with her career as a writter- so yeah, uh, I got no favorite type of book- Do you?-''
He would look back at her, with the same shy and gentle smile, something was slightly off about this kid, he seemed to be always smilling, yet, it is obvious that he is always on his own, it is unclear whether it is because he avoids people, or because people avoid him. Although, after that paranoic greet he gave Rose, it was not hard to imagine that he is not very popular in Hogwarts, after all, why would he feel threatened by a girl who just asked if she could sit by him and said hi?
Aldor would think for a seconds, she complimented his name, said he was lucky to have such a nice aunt, and she is still trying to conversate with him, yet, he hasn't complemented ANYTHING about her, and since Aldor is such an awfully awkward person, he said the first thing that came to his mind without thinking twice.
''You have pretty eyes-'' He then realized what he said and simply looked away, playing with his hair and trying not to think about how stupid that was, that did not even have anything to do with the topic they were talking about, and now, she could missinterprete his words.
''I mean- surely everyone says that I'm sure, I-I did not mean to sound- flirty ot anything I was just trying to compliment you because you already did it a few times and I probably messed up for trying too hard, a-and now I feel like my head is going to explode-''
A very subtle move from Aldor, very subtle.

Again, with the influence of his aunt. His aunt really was his role model, a person he could really look up to. Rose smiled at his question. "I love fantasy. I mean, we know magic exists, but these people with the biggest imaginations come up with other magic systems and... I don't know, it just amazes me and I find them really fun to read."
The redhead froze as he complimented her eyes. She hadn't really been told that her eyes were pretty by anyone else before. But honestly? They were really pretty. They were like intricate little emeralds set in a specific pattern around her pupils. Nobody really looked close enough, she guessed, not close enough to see how pretty they were. That happened with a lot of things, honestly.
Her entire face lit up when he said that, filling her with warmness.
"Aldor," she caught his attention before those words could produce some horrible anxiety about something. It hadn't sounded flirty- it had just been a really sweet compliment. Aldor was so awkward, and he would say out loud what Rose would muffle and shove down in the moment and stress about later. Her tone was gentle and happy. His compliment had clearly lifted her spirits. "Calm down. Thank you, that was really sweet. I don't know if anyone has ever told me that before..." Then, in a lighter tone, she said, "We really don't want your head to explode- that would be just a nightmare to clean up. Plus, the world probably needs you."
She would think about that little compliment in days to come, give her an ounce of confidence against her mind's insistent belief that she was ugly. She would lean into the mirror, close enough to see her eyes up close, and be satisfied with that. She had pretty eyes.
Rose looked up at the sunset, the way it cast pink and orange lights on the entire world, and saw how the Quidditch players had flown down to the ground, clapping each other on the back. "We should probably make our way up to the castle. We don't want to be caught after curfew or something." Rose stood up, slowly, waiting for Aldor to stand up before leading the way off the pitch. "It was really nice talking to you- you're really nice." she commented.
You can post your last post, and then I'll post and then I'll close it- is that okay?

Aldor would slowly stand up, he seemed. . . less cheerful than a few minutes ago, almost like what he said just murdered all his confidence, like it had been a mistake, he felt horrible, even when Rose said it was fine, but Aldor did not believe it was, he doesn't know why he said it, he doesn't know with what intention he did it, all of this thoughts made his smile turn into a worried and cold poker face.
''It was nice- meeting you, thanks, for talking to me-'' He would play with his hair, still keeping the same neutral face. ''If- you want to we- I could, make a space on my schedule to meet somewhere?- some time?-''
A bit of hope showed in his eyes, yet, he clearly is waiting for a negative answer, nothing about this seemed fine anymore, what if this was just a mistake again? Unlike other people, Aldor, did not give a good first impression, in his opinion, at least.
''You- don't have to say yes, it was just- a ridicolous idea- I just- do not have many people to talk to-'' He would sigh quietly, looking back at her, still trying to smile, but it was obvious that this last smile, was forced.
He simply looked at the book in his hand, taking out the piece of papper that contained the message that his aunt wrote for him. He extended his hand, handing it to her.
''Now you have something that is mine- that way- you have an excuse to- talk to 'Aldor the Bookworm' again-''
He would simply take a few steps back.
''See you around, Rose-'' Aldor would slowly walk away, he clearly was not ok, unlike Rose, he did not learn many possitive things from this sittuation, only two things: That not everyone who aproaches him is trying to harm him, and the second thing he learnt. . . Is that he will destroy everything he touches, and that is why he needs to keep his distance, which was not true, but it almost impossible for him to see a better outcome from this.
@Rose Moon Thanks for Rping with me, feel free to owl me if you are ever insterested on Aldor's story.

"No, thank you for talking to me," Rose replied, embarassed now that she was thinking about it. "I was the one who shoved my nose into your personal buisness and space. Thank you."
Rose's entire expression lit up as he suggested they do something else. "That's a great idea! We should totally meet up some other time." So she wasn't entirely horrible at being social.
They started to walk down and off the pitch, keeping pace with each other. They walked with only meaningless chit chat about nothing. When they stopped where they would have to part ways to go to their separate common rooms, Rose offered him a smile, and he gave her the letter from his aunt.
And he walked away.
I like bookworms. I don't need an excuse to talk to you, you're really nice. It was amazing to talk to you.
She wanted to say something, anything, to reassure him, but she just stood there holding the letter.
"Bye, Aldor," she managed to blurt, before walking the other way up to the common room. Aldor was a really nice person, and the world needed more people that were as kind as Aldor was- he had complimented her eyes, and offered meeting some other time. To Rose, at least, more than one good thing had come out of this.
It was a pleasure threading with you, @Aldor Humbleglow!
