They Need to Stop Waxing the Floors
Riley was half-walking, half-jogging through the corridors. She didn't want to be late to her next lesson but she also didn't want to end up crashing into someone. She shifted the books in her arm, making them more comfortable. She heard the paintings talking and most likely moving, but she wasn't paying attention. She had her gaze down onto the floor. Though they still amazed her by the way they could move and talk, she had also gotten used to their teasing as she walk/jogged down the hall. She kept her eyes down, not wanting to see the other people in the crowded halls.Interactions: @Earl Gray
Now see, Riley was quite prone to accidents. She was clumsy, she was oblivious and she knew it. She continued her little jog/walk knowing there was a high possibility that she could run into someone. She could be in the middle of a big, empty field and she'd find something to run into. It got a little annoying. She rarely paid any attention to where she was going, though she knew she needed to work on paying more attention.
So that's why she wasn't surprised when she jog/walked into someone.
She had looked up just in time to see a boy with bubblegum pink hair walking in her direction. The next thing she knew, she was on the floor, her books all around her. She got up quickly, brushing herself off
"I-I"m so sorry! I wasn't paying attention, oh I feel so bad, I'm sorry!" her face was a bright tomato red. She put her hand out, offering to help the boy up. "I should really pay more attention to where I'm going" She mumbled to herself, hiding her face.

Earl had been on his way to his potions classroom, practically vibrating with the excitement of the very first day. He was jumping lightly on the tips of his toes as made his way through the halls, following a group of second year girls who'd promised to him the way, chattering excitedly. They had crowded around him the way girls did when they saw a particularly cute animal, and he was more than glad for the attention, soaking up in compliments regarding his pink hair and stylish clothes. It was safe to say our boyo was in his natural element.
"Now down the stairs and to the right," one of them said with a smile, waving the tips of her fingers in a very queen like wave as she slipped into a classroom along with the rest of her friends. A chorus of 'Byeeee's and 'See ya babe's arose as they parted ways, and Earl was left to walk the halls, a brilliant happy smile on his face, fingers playing with the frayed gray scarf around his neck.
The scarf in particular was the only thing which seemed to stand out against the designer clothes. It had clearly seen better days, the ends hanging all the way to Earl's ribs, strings coming apart from all the times he'd unknowingly run his hands over it. Over the years, the material had become soft and fuzzy, taken on the subtle smell of oranges and honey its owner seemed to be emanating no matter what had gone down. Earl could have been covered in mud after swimming in the lake, and he'd still be defying all common sense, smelling like a flower, not a hair out of place.
His newfound friends having left, Earl was busy floating down the hallway to his next class, humming 'You Will Be Found' underneath his breath, the small gray drawstring bag bag his dad had cast an interior enlargement spell on thrown over his shoulder. He'd stopped to admire some of the portraits on the halls, chatting with a particularly handsome looking man, asking him about the origins of his suit. When someone bumped into him.
Now it's important to remember Earl was a light, delicate looking human being. Meaning when whoever it was walked into him, he was sent a couple paces forward, slipping and landing on the hard stone floor. A small whine escaped him, wincing as he rubbed a spot on his knees. That was gonna leave a bruise. Well. One fall yesterday, another today. He was going to be black and blue by the time the week was over. And those colors did NOT go with his aesthetic.
Rushed apologies were given as the pretty girl helped him to his feet. She looked mortified. "It's okay," he laughed, running his hands over his jeans to get rid of the dust. White material and dirty floors rarely went well together. "I'm sorry I should have seen you. Oh MY GOD I L O V E your glasses!!! They look so pretty on you!"

She grinned at the boy "Oh! Thank you! I- uh I love your hair, not too many people here have like... unnatural hair colours. And your clothes, they're really nice" She laughed. She studied the boy, examining his designer clothes. She looked down at her own clothes, a sunflower hoodie over a skirt, then the Ravenclaw robes. It was a little unusual compared to other people's outfits, but she was unusual compared to the other Hogwarts students so it worked."I'm uh, I'm still really sorry I knocked you over... What's your name? I'm Riley, Riley Arcite" She grinned at him, adjusting her glasses and running her hands through her hair.Interactions: @Earl Gray
She watched around the hallway. She was gonna be late for her class, but she also wanted to be friends with this boy. He seemed nice. The crowded hallway was thinning out, and the paintings chatter had quieted down. The dimly lit hallway was eerie when there were fewer people in it, the cold stone walls and floors of the castle, and the drafts making it chilly. It was creepy enough without the ghosts floating around. She glanced at the suits of armor, they always creeped her out, she pulled her eyes away from them.

☆ @Riley Arcite ☆I'm so sorry about the delay, I was in zoom meetings all day"Oh no, this is completely natural," he giggled, tugging on a strand of hair. And not explaining any further. They all had to have their mysteries, eh? "My clothes are nice," he beamed, looking down at what his was wearing proudly. And then his eyes landed on her outfit, and a flash of joy crossed his face, like sunlight passing through the clouds. "Oh my GOSH you have such a great aesthetic," he breathed, looking her over for any details he may have missed, from the sunflowers on her hoodie, to the skirt and shoes.
"You GOTTA tell me where you bought that hoodie," the small boy announced. "You match Hufflepuff aesthetic better than I do! But later. It's the first day, I don't wanna be late for class, let's walk and talk, that way if we get lost, we get lost together. You have potions too, right?" Not waiting for her response, thoughts leaving nearly as soon as they'd entered his mind, Earl begun walking. His hand was about as big as hers, and warm despite the freezing cold corridor. Maybe it was the gray finger-less gloves, or the fact he radiated so much happiness it must have been warming him from the inside.Word Count: 212

Riley cocked her head a bit. Natural? But how? She shook her head. It didn't matter. He seemed nice enough. She almost laughed at the Hufflepuff aesthetic comment. It was true, she wore a lot more yellow then other Ravenclaws, who mostly wore dark and cool colours. "yeah, potions..." She had to start walking quickly, so she wouldn't fall over again. The boy seemed kind, I mean she ran into him and he complimented her. His hand was warm against her freezing one, he was smart for wearing gloves."I don't remember where I got the hoodie, but I have a lot of hoodies like this. It's just kinda my style. I know, I know, how dare I not wear only black and blue, but sorry I don't wanna look like a bruise" She laughed a bit "Anyways, your aesthetic is nice. I like your bag, where'd you get it?" She smiled. She hoped the boy knew the way to potions, because she most definitely didn't. She sighed thinking about it. She wasn't excited to go to potions, she was sure she was going to mess it up. She hoped it would be like a recipe, you just follow directions. She was nervous, she brought her hand up to her mouth and chewed on her fingers. A bad habit of hers she hadn't been able to break yet.
