Errand A Lizard's Spa Day pv

This morning had been lazy, but she was excited about the little event that Pericles had put together. A boy she had known briefly from the small foray of Frog Choir last year, something that didn’t seem to have enough interest to continue sadly, but should the call come for it, she would be happy to join again. She had scooped up her little girdled lizard and placed her on her shoulder before heading to that morning’s breakfast. Kahlan curled up on her shoulder partially in a smattering of her hair while keeping her face visible to look at the world around them.

Santario would make quick work of breakfast ready to get off to the classroom where Peri had no doubt set everything up so wonderfully. She yawned, covering her mouth as she made her way down the hallway. Stopping on her way for a moment, she would hold her hand up to her shoulder so that Kahlan could jump into her palms. “Are you ready to be pampered, little lady? We’ll get a nice little tub of water for you next to the window so you can watch the sun, how does that sound?” Whether the lizard actually understood her or not was up to debate, but she did skitter around in a circle in the palm of her hand, so that was good enough for Santario to register agreement. With that, Santario would start to approach the classroom that the errand was being held.

Wren walked slowly down the hall, her books held in one arm. It was a dull day with nothing exciting going on. The sun that beat down on the school was hot, making it so that she could not go outside. Inside seemed just as miserable, both hot and boring. She had not slept well that previous night either, which only added to the bad day she was having. Unfortunately, there weren't any events that she could go to. Well... There was a pet going on, which she'd have liked to attend, but she didn't have a pet. Her family had a barn owl named Gaze, but she knew that she couldn't come to the event. Probably busy sending letter or something.

Redirecting herself, she walked down the hall towards the spot where the event would be. She knew that she was in the right place when the sound of many pets filled her ears. Entering the classroom, she looked around. Owls flew overhead, cats snuggled with their owners, and rodents ran around. However, the only thing that seemed of interest to Wren was the girl who just walked in with a lizard. She had very dark hair and sapphire blue eyes. I guess it's worth a shot.

"What's your lizards name?" asked Wren, walking up the girl.

Santario had been lost in her own head, thinking about all of the things that had happened over the summer. No, no, today was not a day to think about the terrible things that happened; just think about the good things. Today was going to be a good day, where Kahlan got a nice relaxing day, and Santario would actually enjoy herself. That was hen a voice brought her back to reality, asking her about her lizard. “Oh, her name is Kahlan.” The girl was tall for her age just like Santario was, but she could still peg her for a curious first year seemingly without a pet.

“My name is Santario, and you’re welcome to join me if you want.” Santario moved Kahalan back to her shoulder as she walked entirely into the room and over to the bins with water in them. She would grab one and a nail file before moving her way over to a window with the most sunlight for the little lizard who seemed to be brimming with impatience. “Settle down little lady you’re going to fall off.” She murmured to the lizard, and Kahlan walked in circles on her shoulder.

Santario would set the water bin down right in the path of direct sunlight, and if the first year had followed her over to the spot, Santario would gently remove Kahalan from her shoulder and hold her out to the girl. “You can put her into the water. She’ll probably bite her tail and form into a spiky circle the moment you touch her, but that’s okay. She loves the sun, so as soon as she touches the warm water, she’ll unravel and start to splash around.”

“My name is Santario, and you’re welcome to join me if you want." The girl walked slowly over to a pile of bins. They were made of silver, filled with water and stacked neatly on top of each other. It seemed a miracle that they haven't fallen over with so many pets running around and owners chasing after the. Kahlan was spinning around on her shoulder, undoubtedly excited and impatient for her spa day, and for a moment Wren thought that she was going to fall off. But Santario had it covered. She quickly grabbed one of the bins as well as a nail file and moved over to a window. She muttered something to Kahlan as she placed the water bin down in the rays of sunlight.

Wren found herself wishing that she had a pet. It was really lonely at Hogwarts, at least for her. She missed having her brother around and without many real friends, this place felt just as bad as her old muggle school. She had always had someone back home. Her brother, Gaze, the hippogriff of the forest... but here she had no one. Her mind began to wander as she ran through all the types of pets she might get eventually. She had never cared for frogs or toads, and cats always seemed to hate her. An owl might be good. Gaze had always been a good companion, so maybe she should get an owl.

She suddenly remembered that Santario had invited her to go with her. She quickly looked around for the dark-haired girl, soon spotting her by the window. She started out towards her, almost tripping over a silver cat in the process. The cat gave a loud, high-pitched hiss as it lashed out with it's claws, and Wren had to scramble away to avoid the angry cat.

"And that is exactly why I am not getting a cat." she muttered, finally reaching Santario. She sat down in the window, careful not to block the light for Kahlan, and watched Santario gently removed the lizard from her shoulder.

"How long have you had Kahlan?" asked Wren, still curious about the lizard.

- Sorry it is taking me so long to respond. I am really busy and have been having issues with my device. Again, sorry!

Santario had been lucky enough, being an only child, to also grow up with the companionship of animals. Though they, of course, were not technically her animals but her parents. One had been a big fluffy cat and the other a toad, and it made Santario chuckle softly to herself as she remembered getting a photo of them under the Yule Tree with a little red santa hat on the toad. It would take the angry hiss of a cat to pull her out of her thoughts and cause her to look around only to see her companion for the day having tripped over a cat nearly missing its wrath of claws in the process.

A small smile played at the corners of her lips. “Not all cats are so aggressive. They also tend to bond or imprint with one person. Some people refer to it as their special person, and while that person can change, it’s rare for it to do so. It doesn’t say that the cat can’t or won’t be affectionate towards other people, but it will go out of its way to be with its special person. You do have some cats that will do the rare thing and attach to more than one person, but it’s super rare. My mom had a cat.” The last line was offhanded as if she was adding the information so that the girl didn’t think she just had random facts about cats for literally no reason.

“I got Kahlan at the beginning of August, so just over a month now. She’s still a baby and learning the world around her.” Since the girl did not take Kahlan from her when she offered, Santario set Kahlan down in the bin where the small lizard made for what could be considered the sunniest patch of the water, hunkering herself down. She would lift her little head up towards the window and stare out of it as she soaked up the warmth from the water. “Girdled Lizards are also known as Sun Gazers. It is basically her favorite past time to sit and stare at the sun and do nothing else, but I make sure she gets in a lot of playtime as well. Since I am down in the dungeons and don’t have sunlight for her all of the time, our windows are into the great lake, the pet shop owner sold us an enchanted light for her terrarium to make sure that she would always have the amount of light and heat that she required.”

Santario dipped her slender fingers into the water and very gently started splashing it up onto Kahlan’s back. “Baths like this help reptiles when they are shedding the same with humidity and while she isn’t at a shedding point yet it still isn’t bad for her. After we let her soak for a little bit, we’ll go ahead and file her claws.” Santario was pretty good at overloading people with information when she got talking about something that she liked or was passionate about, and San wondered if she was overwhelming the girl or not. Speaking of… Well, more like thinking of…? “I’m sorry I didn’t catch your name.”
