His height and looks gave a false pretense to others that he was strong when in reality Henry was one of the weakest people you would meet, he did make up for his lack of strength in intelligence but sadly this event didn't call for smarts it mainly used strength and accuracy both he didn't really strive well in. This was seen as he was bobbing for a apple and lost his balance awkwardly before toppling into the tub water, which he quickly got his balance back but not before his shoulders up where covered in water. Henry sort of felt the back of his neck sweat from embarrassment as the people closest to him; Callie and Lucille both were able to grab a apple unlike him, Henry watch the two girls feelings a bit chilly and he was wet and the day was remarks windy however the host of the event; Ami offered Henry her flannel to dry off in which Henry took it thankfully ad he smile " thank you a lot, your a literal life saver."

Henry quickly and lightly dried his shoulders and neck off before returning the girl with the flannel and smiling again to thank her, he then saw that Miranda also didn't come up with a apple which settled his nerves a bit but before he could dwell on the thought any longer Henry watched as Zykeal the boy who hosted the Dublin meet up casted and succeeded in casting the slug-vomiting charm on May but either fortunately or unfortunately it didn't last long as the host of the event quickly cast the counterspell before giving Zykeal what Henry thought it sounded like; a warning.

Henry quicky switched his tub to the one in front of Zykeal and quickly said to the boy " wicked job with the spell, to bad she caught you," Henry smiled at him as he continued " Your Zykeal right? From the Dublin meet up? I don't know if you remember me or not, I'm Henry," Henry offered him a smile then spoke in a low voice so only he could hear "if you try to get ahead or cast another spell, then let me know and I can help you stay out of trouble. I may not be strong but doing things without others knowing is my strong suit," after offering help to Zykeal Henry then smiled at hi.befote dunking his head into the tub of water and trying again to bob for a apple.

Callie barely managed to stifle her own laughter at the sight of Henry stumbling headfirst into the water. Instead the young girl simply bit down on her lip and muffled a slight giggle before removing her glasses to take her own turn. Thankfully the apple Callie had managed to fish out of the waters was fully capable of keeping those pesky doctors at bay. Rotten apples simply wouldn't suffice in the fight against those pesky doctors! The apple quickly tumbled from her mouth and into the bowl as a result of her wide grin. Sadly Callie hadn't yet returned her glasses to her face so when the chaos erupted over Zykeal whacking poor May with the slug vomiting spell she was entirely unaware of who instigated the commotion. "Why is everyone yelling? It's just an apple.." Callie promptly returned her glasses to their perch on her nose, only to be met with the sight of a certain redhead slapping a a Gryffindor boy Callie didn't quite recognise. Wait a second..choking? Died? What on earth had he done to poor May?

Callie started to move over to May to check if she was alright but the sight of the girl trying to kick Zykeal with an apple quickly answered that question. Callie was half tempted to join in herself and even went as far to pull her wand out only to ultimately decide against taking any action against the boy. May was more than capable of handling herself and Callie feared the wrath of Ami much more than any revenge she was capable of inflicting on Zykeal. May's honour was well and truly being defended without the intervention of a tiny little blonde girl. So with May's honour being defended by those around her Callie simply offered May a thumbs up and smile before moving back to the tub and sticking her head underneath the water. Why worsen a fight when she could simply try and out bob everyone else? They would all cower at the sheer might of her apple bobbing skills! Or at least that's what Callie hoped.

This was beginning to feel weird.

Søren did not enjoy having to stick his face into the tub of water. Were these things even cleaned properly? He hoped there was no moldy residue contaminating the water lest his ten-step skincare routine be for naught. Still, he would not lose this game like he did with the egg race. Using a myriad of odd methods to locate an apple, including snapping his teeth and prodding with his tongue, he felt one pass by. Unsure of how to stabilize the apple, he just bit down as hard as he could and ripped his face from the tub a little too strongly, causing him to stumble backwards and throw his hands up in the air to steady himself.

Taking a bite out of the apple, Søren was glad to find the taste to be sweet and not rotten. Maybe Merlin would be on his side today. As rubbed the water from his eyes, which certainly made the feeling worse, he noticed Ami casting the Reparifors charm at one of his classmates. He was able to deduce that some funny business went down as Ami verbally kicked the dragon dung out of a boy and then smacked him upside the head. Jokingly scoffing at the dirty player, Søren took a breath and then resubmerged his head to look for another apple.

There would be no facial expression shift in his gaze after his spell successfully landed upon May and caused her to spit up a slug or two, it was a given. The young wizard's attention though would be shifted towards the girl that was running the event, a fourth-year, that seemingly tried to prevent his actions. Though she was quick with her wand, her spellwork was absolute shite' and Zyk couldn't help but give a look of indignation at the girl, "Seriously..." he muttered under his breath, "Pathetic" he concluded, watching as the girl failed her attempts to reverse his spell upon May over and over.

Henry seemed to move to his side, a quick glance was given as the fourth year continued to flourish her wand over towards his victim and he offered a slight wink over to the Slytherin boy. Another movement caught his eye, a Ravenclaw seemed to move slightly towards May out of concern and Zyk couldn't help to let his eyes narrow at the girl and offer a playful smile to Callie; he'd have no problem playing with her as well. Henry spoke a few words to him and he gave a little nod to the boy and whispered under his breath, "Pretty sure I can take them," he stated, honestly believing even with a little backup, the two girls wouldn't stand a chance against him.

Unfortunately, while his attention was on the potential threat of response from May and Callie, he failed to see the hand that came from the large fourth-year girl that connected with the side of his head. Zykeal stumbled and looked at the Hufflepuff as she started to berate him, complete disgust resonating upon his face. This girl obviously had no idea what she was talking about, he knew that May knew that, and if May wanted to play the innocent little girl that she pretended to be, so be it. Though the Hufflepuff was in between himself and May, he did catch that the girl begun to kick an apple in his direction and he wondered how the apple would curve around the girl in front of him.

Regardless of what happened with this apple business, the older girl had struck him, and Zykeal wasn't just going to let this happen. With a little smile upon his face as he corrected himself from being struck, he looked up to the taller Ami and whispered so softly that only the girl and Henry could probably hear, "Apologize, to that?" and he paused, looking down at the ivory-colored aspen wood wand that still was gripped within the palm of his hand, "Get out of my way," he said and with a flick of his wrist the tip of his wand drew a checkmark with a little twist at the end, aiming directly at the chest of the girl, Ami, who stood before him, "Flipendo."

@Lucille Williams has been skipped this round.

Ami took her flannel back from @Henry Knight with a bit of a forced smile, grimacing at the fact that it was now... well, wet. Whatever, at least the kid wouldn't get hypothermia, right? She quickly tied the flannel around her waist, preferring to wait until it dried off before wearing it again.

Were all the second years this blood-thirsty? Ami certainly didn't remember being this angry when she was- oh wait, nevermind. She was probably worse. Still, her jaw dropped open in surprise as she watched @May Moonstar tossed her apple into the air, kicking it at @Zykeal Lane. Thankfully, she had the common sense to slide out of the way, as she doubted that May could bend it like Beckham. The apple hit Zykeal squarely in the chest with a decent amount of force behind it, possibly even leaving a bruise behind in its wake, before tumbling to the ground. "Oh sh-" Ami muttered, but noticed Zykeal with his wand pointed at her. "Oh shi-"

But apparently, she needn't have worried, because something went terribly wrong. Maybe Zykeal had forgotten to concentrate, or maybe his wand protested at cast a spell at such a hot girl, but the spell backfired catastrophically. With a loud bang, Zykeal would fly backward, landing on his back several feet away. Wincing at the sound of his impact, she quickly made her way over to him. "Jeez, kid," she muttered, staring at him in concern. "Tough fall. Do you need some ice?" ... was that a No-Maj thing? Whatever, it was effective, anyhow, so he shouldn't be complaining. She would extend an arm to the Gryffindor lying on the ground, although she would retract it if he chose to get up by himself. If she'd been a second year as well, she would have no problem with kicking him while he was down, but now... well, she simply didn't care anymore. Or maybe she'd matured?

With Zykeal back on his feet, Ami gestured to an open spot by Henry. "If you want to participate," she said sternly, "Go by him. If you try and hex May while her back is turned, I won't hesitate to report you to Silmautarea, or Pendrast." The two Gryffindor authorities would hopefully scare him more than any threat she made would, and hopefully, they'd be able to put all this nonsense behind them. "Besides, I think May's already gotten her revenge," she added, glancing at her fellow Hufflepuff with a shrug. "Just move on."

Ami went to retrieve May's projectile apple, placing it in her bowl gently, before reaching in to grab one of the good apples from the tub. She attempted to surreptitiously take a bite, although the contestants would be able to notice the crunch of the fruit if they were paying any attention to their referee and supervisor.

Meanwhile, although Lucille seemed to be spacing out, the rest of the contestants all seemed to be having some good luck this round, as all of them would surface victorious. @Callie Jensen had moved over to May, a move which Ami commended, while Henry had moved to Zykeal's side. Both Callie and Henry came up with good apples between their teeth, earning them another 2 points each. @Miranda Everest took a more delicate and graceful approach, although the American had half a mind to shove her in all the way just to get her acclimated to the cold water. But no, that would be cruel... And of course, @Søren Silverwood was successful in his pursuit of the sweet fruit, although we certainly expected nothing less out of the smooth-skinned boy. In fact, the cold water seemed to do him some good, probably making his skin glow attractively in the afternoon sun. Or maybe it didn't. I don't know anything about skincare.

  • You may choose between two different actions each round: Bob or Kick.
======
  • If you choose to BOB, you will bob for an apple like normal. I will roll for success in locating an apple (accuracy [DC 10]) and lifting it out of the water (strength [DC 9]). Then, I will roll a d100 to see if you get a rotten apple ([DC >10]).
  • If you choose to KICK, you will forgo a turn and attempt to kick someone (please specify who). I will roll for accuracy against your target's evasion, and then roll for damage against their stamina to see if it affects their performance. No one will be badly hurt during this event (see: I will not be deducting health points).
  • As can be seen here, you may improvise some other action that is not listed if you want. However, that means you will be subject to my judgment, discretion, and "house-rules" (as I've heard it been called on Critical Role).
  • Please post within five days of each mod post. Next mod post will be September 23.
  • Please add your stats and abilities with each post for modding ease.
  • If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to owl or DM me!

Henry felt himself bite down on a apple as he took his head out from the tub and shook it a bit, before taking the apple from his mouth and placing it in his bowl. Henry ran a hand through his hair just in time to see May kick a apple right toward Zykeal's chest, Henry was about to suggest a hex for her to him but before he could Zykeal's spell then backfired on himself. Henry felt bad for him and while he didn't want to be seen or taken for someone that is weak or something, Henry still ran over to Zykeal and offered him a hand to help him up as he spoke " are you alright there mate?" Henry then spoke again in a voice barely above a whisper so only Zykeal could hear " you just needed a but more focus next time," Henry glanced over his shoulder before whispering to Zykeal again " what do you think will happen if someone levites one of the cauldrons so the contents pour on top of their head, drenching them in water."

No matter if Zykeal took Henry's hand or not, he would still head back to his spot as he saw that Callie moved closer to May which in the mind of a twelve year old meant that the second years were choosing sides and this wasn't just a game anymore but he also saw that mostly everyone was able to grab a apple which meant that Callie and the boy with surprisingly smooth kid whom Henry thought his name might have been Søren, were both in the lead by two and while Henry would never cheat in his life, he decided to get some pay back for Zykeal who has his spell backfire on him and kicked with a apple.

Henry looked over and saw that Ami was a bit to distracted eating a apple so Henry took the opportunity to take out his wand from the inside of his jack pocket before sliding it into the sleeve of his left jacket sleeve. He did placed his hands in the table and pretended to get ready to bob for a apple again as he only had the tip of his wand sticking out of his left jacket sleeve to keep his wand hidden as much as possible as he pointed it a bit at May before whispering "Tarantallegra," after casting the spell Henry then pushed his wand deeper into his sleeve before dumping his head back into the tub and pretending to bob for a apple, in which nobody would be the wiser as to what the cunning and mischievous slytherin did.

Callie hadn't at all expected something as simple as an apple bobbing contest to descend into something as chaotic as this. Was doing something that didn't involve using magic for a couple minutes really that difficult for some people? Maybe these people were simply not right in the head or Callie much too fond of doing things normally. Callie wasn't entirely sure. Under normal circumstances Callie may have even felt pity or sympathy for Zykeal when the spell appeared to backfire on himself. Although given his actions Callie decided the boy was undeserving of her pity and much more deserving of whatever Ami could throw at him. Even if it was simply a threat to go and bring a professor into this entire ordeal. Perhaps they could talk some sense into the two boys.

The idea of enacting some kind of revenge against the boy briefly danced around Callie's head but she ultimately decided against such actions. Truth be told she lacked the courage or the confidence that her spell would work in the first place. Despite her stellar grades Callie still very much lacked faith in her own abilities, often comparing herself to various purebloods. Something wasn't right but Callie certainly wasn't the one to do something about it. She wasn't as strong as what Ami seemed to be nor did she think of herself as intelligent enough. Instead Callie stood idle for a moment, entirely hesitant to act. If she had been paying attention she might have even noticed the...strange actions of Henry but Callie was far too wrapped up in her own head to take heed. Instead when her time to metaphorically shine came around she simply bobbed for another apple.

Much to Miranda's delight, this time she successfully located and grabbed her apple - and even better, if was fully fresh instead of being a rotten mess. Contrary to the chaos that was happening around her, the Ravenclaw emerged from the tub with only a small amount of water splashed onto her face from her attempt. It almost made the bobbing worth it - almost.

However, while she missed May's impressive kick, she did notice Zykael getting blown backwards, although unlike the previous time, she couldn't figure out who the culprit was. Was it someone trying to get revenge, or simply the red-haired fourth year trying to make sure he kept to the rules by punishment. Either way, Miranda found herself once again warily eyeing all of the assembled competitors. It was times like these that she wished she knew some good defensive spells - unfortunately, nothing came to mind. It was best to just hope she could avoid any spells that came flying at her.

With no other choice, and her mind made up, Miranda simply went back to doing what she'd been occupied with before - bobbing for apples, although this time she put more effort in keeping an eye out for possible attacks. Unless someone specifically went for her, she was going to do her best not to get involved in the crossfires. Not until she could figure out who was in the right, and who was in the wrong, anyways.

A satisfied grin glowed in May's face as she saw her apple hit Zykeal squarely in the chest. It seemed like a harsh blow, and would clearly wound him a bit over time, nevertheless May thought the Gryffindor deserved it. She chortled as she saw Zykeal's own spell backfiring at him. Did that guy even know how to cast one? It was probably his own anger at being thrown a apple full on. Who knows? The only thing that mattered now we're the 3 galleons and the chocolate frogs May was sure to win. Plus, Ami Proccopio seemed to handle the situation pretty well, threatening him with his Head of House, etc...

"Oh stop Lane!" May said, still chortling her eyes out, "Look at how well that spell was casted! It was so well done, that it hit you instead of Ami!" The girl shocked her head, and still laughing, she looked at Callie, her good friend she had met last year. "Cheers!" and she slammed her head into the water, hoping to bob something delicious.

Meanwhile, her thoughts ran through her head. She knew why Zykeal was being so mean to her, yet she knew it hadn't been her fault. It seemed that a boy [@Henry Knight] was trying to help him out, making May feel extremely anxious to want to leave this small event. Were they friends? Was he, Henry, going to partner up with the evil cause? But May just thought, that if someone was going to jinx her, or anyone else, she would handle it with dignity-and report it to whom she needed to report it to.

The back of his mind tingled, a little voice, something was whispering within him and it made him hesitate as he cast the spell towards Ami. It was as if his wand was rejecting the command of his spell, it wasn't as if he didn't know the incantation or the movement of the wand, that was ridiculous to think, this was different. Zykeal wasn't shocked when his body was sent flying backward as the spell rebounded upon him, in fact, he was still pondering the implications of the actions of his wand. It was a funny thing, he wasn't sure if it was his own subconscious telling him that trying to Jinx Ami wasn't of his character, or, his wand saying that it was beneath him to act out like that.

Though he wasn't agile on his feet, he was an expert faller, given the years of experience of skateboarding that the boy had in the muggle world. Arms raised up and protecting the sides of his head, body tucked in, he let himself roll to a halt and adjusted his form to a normal seated position after he assessed if there was any damage. Thankfully, he had no issues. Those golden hues shifted up and he saw Ami there offering a hand and a little jest of her own, he smirked and used his free hand to grasp her own and took the help in raising to his feet. Although he had just tried to jinx the girl, he understood that his wand, or so he thought, felt it was a foolish thing to do and accepted that he had misplaced his anger and directed it towards the girl.

There was no indication that he overheard the girl May or any of the others that might have caught sight of what had just happened. How could they possibly understand such a connection anyways, their minds were small to him. May was just one of those people who loved to involve herself in other's business and despite what she thought of him, the girl slapped Ivy just for liking him and she deserved that little bit of revenge. The facts were, she was a terrible friend and didn't support Ivy, a girl she claimed to be her 'best friend'. Regardless, this wasn't his issue anymore, he had gotten his little slice of revenge on May in making her puke slugs and that seemed to be all that Zykeal needed to be the done at the moment.

It wasn't until he caught the sight of Henry flicking his wand though that he knew the situation might get escalated further. Zyk wasn't sure why the boy initiated the confrontation with May, but, he couldn't help but pull a little smirk upon his features as he looked over towards Ami and shrugged, "It seems I have more a more fun game to play," he offered, knowing that he just threw the game into more chaos. With the spell being cast at May from Henry, he just watched the girl Callie and waited to see if she had a response to the current situation. The wand that was settled in the palm of his hand started to twist with a flick of his finger, allowing it to spin through the digits of his hand once more, resuming that consistent drumstick spin as he waited patiently to see if he'd have to take on another little witch that didn't mind her own business.
