The Ravenclaw Table 2017-2018
The spell sliced across Kaegen's chest, red and green and maybe yellow blood spilled on the floor. Oddly enough he seemed more confused rather than hurt, his breathing was as silent as ever. Stranger yet, it looked like she had expected something else to happen. Had she mixed up her spells?
What in the name of the Dark tree was this? Who was she? How had an 11 year old mastered that spell? It shouldn't be possible! Using magic outside of school grounds was illegal, she couldn't have practiced at home, she hadn't been at the school long enough to learn that!
What thing was she? Was she even human? He felt vortigern plop to the ground, the smoke coming from the floor now and not his robe as the little salamander evaporated the ground instead of his vial house. He didn't seem to notice the little acid salamander as he kept his slingshot tight. He just couldn't wrap his head around the fact that a creature that powerful had somehow gotten into the school.
Well, actually, his mother had mentioned a potion once, poly-something. It allowed you to turn into a different form. If you were a dangerous wizard, you could use it to take the form of a child. But still use your spells. That was it, that had to be it. The only explanation that made any sense. It wasn't physically possible for the girl to have learned that defensive spell, and if that wasn't enough she had said 'I know more defensive charms than you think' That meant so many things.
1. It meant she knew more than one. More than just diffindo. That was ridiculous.
2. It meant that she knew what he was thinking. Even worse.
Kaegen hadn't said anything about defensive charms, at least he hadn't said anything out loud. How were the professors not aware of this? He tried to clear his mind. Even though the girl had already left, he didn't want to take any chances.

The Ravenclaw Table 2017-2018
Oh, good Lord. Adam sprung to his feet and nearly vaulted over the table, sliding to a stop next to Kaegen. "Kaegen! What happened? Are you alright?" That was a stupid question. He most certainly was not alright. Adam hadn't really been paying attention to what was happening at the Ravenclaw table, caught up in analyzing the ever-changing patterns on the ceiling of the Great Hall, but now he realized that it had gotten way too far out of hand. Trying to find something to stop the bleeding, Adam slid off his work robe and pressed it to Kaegen's side. He was glad he had put something on underneath, or he wouldn't be nearly half as helpful. Feeling himself start to panic, Adam forced his mind to the task at hand: sorting out this situation. He had so many questions to ask. "Kaegen, why is there so much blood? Whose is this? What did Eri do?"
Maybe she hadn't meant to cast a Severing Charm. Eri didn't seem like an offensive girl; she must have just been trying to conjure up a shield. Adam noticed that she was nowhere to be seen in the Great Hall, though. Either she hadn't realized what the spell had really did, or she was too afraid to stick around to see. If it had been him, Adam probably would have fled. Directing himself into a state of relative calm once more, Adam shouted, "Someone do something! Get a prefect or a professor! Quick!" Looking down at Kaegen, he bit his lip nervously. "It'll be fine, K."
But would it?

Kaegen took out a leaf, chewed it a bit and smeared it over the gash. He was done thinking about it. That girl was not normal, she was not even a kid! She was some sort of deranged, transformed death wizard and if he ever wanted to sleep again, something had to be done. The other members of his table were all pathetic, they just sat there, except for that boy anyway.
The grin Kaegen had on earlier came back, his adrenaline was shooting like crazy all over his body. Looking at the blood he had to accept that his cool lizard was dead. It had been pretty big, and Kaegen was going to release it. One of his clabberts had lost a leg, so Kaegen put some of the leaf past on the stump. He was ready for this, more than ready. They would hail his name. An ear splitting cry rang out, the noise a wild beast would make when he can almost smell the blood, a cry that seems to scream 'CHARGE' and then the young boy scooped his acid salamander up in a different vial, picked his slingshot back up, and took off for the door. He would track that girl down, he would end this! Vortigern would help, he had a knife and a slingshot. In all honestly, he would have to bank on the slingshot more than the salamander. He didn't want to risk vortigern getting hurt, and besides, the acidum salamandra imperium probably wouldn't know where to spit his acid.

"Eri, wait!" had he taken it too far? Looking back at Kaegen, he figured that yes, he had most definitely taken this too far. On top of that he had made an enemy, and driven away a potential friend. His hands shook. He clenched them into tight fists, his knuckles going white. His entire body trembled ever so slightly. He forced his face into as neutral an expression as he could manage. He was an idiot. What would his classmates think of him? Shame and doubt roiled in his gut, almost making him nauseous. He might as well have been a Gryffindor, with his stupidly bold moves. His breah caught in his throat, but he forced himself to breathe. Forced his body to relax. Forced his mind to go blank. He couldn't break down here.
He didn't even flinch when Kaegen rushed passed him, far too focused on his his mind. He could barely see the blurred shapes of humans anyway.
He turned and walked out of the room, his every motion carefully controlled, trying to hide how he was feeling. His face still betrayed him, showing off far too much hurt. He made his way up the stairs to the fifth floor, and into an empty classroom. Sitting down in the corner, he finally let his composure break. Wiping his eyes, he noticed blood on his hands. He had cut the palm of his hand when he had his fists clenched.

"Kaegan!" Clary lept up from her seat, staring dumbfoundedly at Eri as she cast the spell at her undefended friend. Sure, the boy may have a few angry magical creatures, or a rather eager-to-attack acid-dripping lizard, but he was about to go and use dueling spells in the Great Hall! She flashed a quick glare in Eri's direction, watching as the girl already prepared to flee, and ran over to the injured boy next to Adam, glancing at the scene in panic.
Clary still wasn't exactly sure what had happened. Evidently, Kaegan provoked Eri in some way, perhaps with his words or the lizard creature. It'd all happened too quickly for her to keep up. After that, the Ravenclaw girl had pulled out her wand, casting Diffindo of all spells, something that she was pretty sure was reserved for a much higher year of study! Perhaps Eri didn't know the spell's use, but it was dangerous, and common in dueling for trying to slice the opponent. Before she had a chance to even think to react, her dormmate had cast the charm and she found Kaegan on the ground, blood everywhere. The whole scene was just a mess.
Ignoring Eri for the moment, she nodded her head in the boy's - she believed his name was Adam - direction, watching as Kaegan attempted to staunch the bleeding with some poultice made from an herb he apparently had nearby him. She resisted the urge to follow after Eri and glanced around the room, looking for someone to call for help.

The Ravenclaw Table 2017-2018
Disbelief.
That was what Midas felt after he saw all of the events that had happened.
First, a Slytherin had walked over to the Ravenclaw table and asked to sit down, right next to him.
Midas had whipped his head around nearly crashing into the table.
All that came out was "Ah - umm... - ack" stuttering with each word.
Thankfully, right after, a girl had invited the Slytherin to another seat down the table.
"I'm glad that's over..." thought Midas.
Moments later, another Ravenclaw threw something at the boy, but he missed - or was that on purpose, and the item exploded right after.
"What the bloody hell?" he screamed - in his head of course.
"What is going on? Did I jinx it or something?"
And of course right after, the girl had shot some sort of spell - while saying something about defensive spells. Not hearing the spells name, and creating such a wound on the boy, Midas thought the spell was some sort of defensive action which also had offensive properties.
The girl who cast the spell immediately left the Great Hall right after, leaving in what seemed to be the direction of the library.
Should he follow the girl? Or should he help the boy?
Midas decided he would go help the boy. Running to the boy, he told another boy who seemed to be trying to stop the bleeding with his robe, "M - make sure t - to keep p - p -pressure over it", indicating the parts which seemed to be bleeding.
He then saw the boy, who was cradling a small lizard like creature, which seemed to be missing some limbs.
"I think... The boy is worried about the creature?" he thought. Midas also had emotional attachments to his animal friends.
"Umm... Your l -lizard will be alright -t. They have h-healing properties and c - can regenerate limb -bs."
After reassuring the boy, Midas looked around for a teacher, and saw some rushing over here to investigate the commotion
"Thank goodness!" thought Midas

The Ravenclaw Table 2017-2018
If only Adam knew what commotion had been caused since he and Kaegen had fled the Great Hall, one after another. Shortly after, Claryssa North had followed them, and other students had been put on high alert. This was possibly one of the most uproarious things to happen at the Ravenclaw table; it had certainly drawn the attention of everyone in the vicinity.
Some of the students reacted differently than others. Some tried their best to help, while others fled in disbelief. Some focused on healing, some focused on attack. The students tried everything they could to get help while still trying to take care of the situation on their own. It was hard to remember that all of this had started with Xenoxilius Blackthorn, the lone Slytherin student that had ventured over to a different house in hopes of making a friend. Eri Windstone was prepared to be that friend; at least, prepared until she fired a Severing Charm rather than a Shield Charm. No one could really blame Eri, though some would regardless. It had been remarkable enough that she could cast a decent spell at all, as a first year.
And so, amid the chaos of the school year, amid the business of the crowded halls, this small group of students dealt with their same problem in completely different ways. If given the chance, all of them would no doubt go back in time and stop this from ever happening. But the wheels had already been set in motion; now all that was left was to see how they would turn.

Hey everyone! Bending the rules a little here to provide a good explanation RP. Can't believe these events have drawn so much attention! It's incredible
! If you're curious about what happened next to Eri, Adam, Kaegen, and Xeno, I believe there are several continuation threads popping up around the school. I'll try to get the links.
Hiding Away in the Library -- Eri
A Quiet Corner to Cry -- Xeno
SALEM: The Sequel -- Adam and Kaegen
Some of these threads might be coming to a close, but they're still nice to read and get some closure! Hope you guys don't mind that I put the links up here. I can take it down if you do.

The Ravenclaw Table 2017-2018
Faye couldn't help but wonder what was wrong with the sorting hat. Her parents were both Slytherin and yet she ended up being a Ravenclaw. She was not smart nor a determined person. she was typically happy and loved potions but that didn't mean much she thought. She walked toward the table with the Blue banner and bronze bird on it, seeing the disappointed looks from the Slytherin group. The sorting hat is never wrong a voice whispers in her head. She glances around, but couldn't find the source of the voice. She shrugs and sits at the far end of the table making sure others could sit in the groups that they wanted. A small yawn escapes her as she picks up a drink glass of steaming coffee needing the boost to stay awake for the rest of the ceremony. She practices lighting and turning off her wand as she plans to read ahead in her potions book this evening so she could be prepared for potions class if she even receives that class since she is a first year. The others nearby could probably hear her muttering Lumos , Nox . over and over again until she becomes satisfied with her ability to light her wand. She slides her wand into her boot and she listens clapping and cheering for each new Ravenclaw member.

The Ravenclaw Table 2017-2018
Yawning Faye decides to get up from the table and find the Ravenclaw house. It seemed that no one else was joining them this evening. She gathers her books ignoring the disaster going on around he as she sent a few spells toward the mess that was on the floor. Scourgify, she mutters under her breath as she passes each mess she sees at the table and at the other tables. She can't stand messes and doesn't understand how others can just ignore them. Her books in the satchel she carries on her at all times including her remembrall. Holding tightly onto the pendant her mother gave her before she came here she whispered a few words to it it flashed brightly and then turned a sapphire blue. She sighed and knew that her family was already asleep and sending owls to the house in scotland would be useless. Slowly she makes her way to the doors that lead to the small hall in hopes of finding the ravenclaw floor and possibly the owlry. She sighs and smiles softly thinking Today is the beginning of a new start for me and I can only hope and work hard to make these next seven years the best I can before I'm released into the wizarding world.

The Ravenclaw Table 2017-2018
Ava walked up towards the table to find it in chaos.”Is this a bad time?” she wondered outloud. I wonder what happened? she wondered farther down the table until she found an empty spot with no people around.
She started bouncing her leg. I wonder if there’s a place I can take a run. Like I did with dad... I miss him already. At least he’s going to Texas while i’m gone she sighed. I should try to make some friends. Oh! I’ll try that girl I passed’s way. she moved closer to some people. Could somebody pass me the sugar please? Ava looked at everyone’s faces. Some looked like nice people you should be friends with. Some looked like they wanted to kill you. Yay... I really hope I can make a few friends. I don’t want to go crazy because of loneliness. If I go crazy it’ll be because of mother. Ava shivered. ”It’s really cold here. I wonder why.” she thought ouload.

You are amazing. Others may say different but what do they know? They don't know you.
