A Leap of Fun
Tuesday | 7th July, 2020 | Early Afternoon
@Jake Morris
It was just after dinnertime and the Ravenclaw was free from any activities. Breana didn't have anything planned today, so she figured she'd wander around the area since she never got a proper look around the campsite. It was a good kind of different for the girl, as the grassy areas here are more lively compared to the quiet grassy knolls of Hogwarts. One can easily hear the birds twittering about in the areas. Then, something rustled within a hollow log.
As per usual Ravenclaw fashion, Brean thought it'd be best to investigate. Though, as if she had a sixth sense, she knew what exactly was flopping about inside the log. The tiny child's eyes gleamed as her assumption was right, as a tiny little frog was hopping out of said log. It's not a colorful frog, so it's definitely a safe frog to hold. Breana, still mesmerized by the cuteness of the frog, carefully crouched down to look at the frog better.
It was times such as these that she missed her own pet toad, Saps. While this frog is not as fat as Saps, Breana still has the sudden urge to hold it. With all that's been going on, Breana practically forgot what it was to be a 12-year-old kid. And with that, the little girl let loose, giggling along as she tried to catch the tiny little frog with her hands.

A Leap of Fun
@Jake Morris @Breana Oliveire
There was something else besides a colorful leaping frog in that log, there was something there that was waiting. Something there that was watching young Breana enjoy this fleeting sense of safety and security. The girl had recovered nicely from her injuries that night, she was sure that Breana had gotten a little taller also (not really). They hoped to be tall.Should have made this thread private.
The happy hopping frog would catch the girl's interest and they would use this moment as an opportunity to change their vantage point. What was she doing? Who was she meeting? Meating? Curiosity had gotten the better of them as they made their move. That flicker of a shadow out of the corner of Breana's eye. Easy to ignore, an overactive imagination. An illusion. A manifestation of paranoia.
Do not worry Breana, there is nothing to fear. Your most dangerous enemy is @Thomas Baines, not them... Believe that lie and one might tell you another. It would climb to a high place, get a better vantage point. SHE would never notice them up there so high.
They would scale the tent. An exercise in exertion that would go unnoticed, the canvas flaps and walls similar in hue to the tanned form that reached the peak. Watch from there, a place both high and unseen. Someone approaches [Jake], the sweet smelling one.
Not actually interfacing, but this will one day become relevant.
Some stories should never be told...

A Leap of Fun
@Breana Oliveire
Jake had been feeling a little homesick again.
Sometimes, when he was around his friends, he was having so much fun he forgot about his worries and fears. Being at camp instead of school made it easier to forget sometimes.
Other times, he just wanted his mum.
Today had been a lonelier day. Everybody had been off somewhere, leaving Jake alone. He wasn't supposed to be alone, really, his parents had been very clear about that. But what was he supposed to do if he couldn't find anybody? He had gone out onto the campgrounds hoping to see a familiar face, and perhaps to take in the nice summer day, and look for flowers and whatever animals he could find.
He heard the sounds of giggles ahead, and when he came closer he saw a girl he knew from school. She was a tiny girl - even smaller than Jake - something he had never seen before at Hogwarts before he'd met her. You would have thought that would have meant she wasn't scary, but he had learned quickly that that wasn't true. They had had a chicken fight once. It had been frightening. But she had seemed nice before and after that, and at least this time there weren't any pools around.
"Hi Breana," Jake said, giving a wave to the girl. "Whatcha looking at...?" As he got closer, the flickers of hopping caught his eye.
"Aww, a frog!" the boy said, coming over and crouching down to admire it. Though shyness often overcame him, there was nothing like an animal to coax him out. He didn't want to scare the little creature, so kept his distance.

There was so many opportunities. So many chances to watch them both die. Of course it only wanted one of them. Wanted to take their life. Wanted to BE them. It would not take much, she was quite weak. The issue was, the take over. the lack of witnesses necessary to seamlessly take over her existence. Indeed, it was not in pursuit of the boy with the mask. The mask that screamed and spoke sweet nothings. The mask that knew and the mask that would take control if the boy failed to consider the power that it was gaining over him. It was not the mask, it was something else.
Above, there was nothing perilously hanging over them. Below, the ground was firm and safe. There was no risk, not here. That was not what it would gain in this encounter. It was the truth, the path and the way. It would learn so that it would one day be. It would one day be that little girl, live a life better, more fuller than Breana ever could.
It wanted to BE her.
It was going to BECOME her.
Just not today. Let the children frolic and play.
To answer the questions of our dear observer. When did this start? When did this all begin? It began in the forest, The forest that they set ablaze. The forest where they found one another. They were one in the same.

A Leap of Fun
@Jake Morris
The giddy young girl followed the frog along, her smile growing from ear to ear. She watched it hop from one place to another, its tiny butt bumping against the floor at times. Breana laughed as the frog croaked loudly, seeing it perched on top of a smooth rock. Now, with her tongue sticking out for pure focus, she laid her hand out on the grass. "Come on... I just wanna see ya up close..." She muttered, hoping that the little amphibian would somehow understand her. Unfortunately, the croaky little boy had other plans, which was the same plan as before: hopping. Though the frog was feeling a bit daring today, as he hopped in a different direction.
Breana sighed but still hasn't given up hope. Just as she was about to execute her previous plan again to the unsuspecting little hopper, a familiar voice chimed in her ears. She turned around to see a fellow Hogwarts student greet her. It was Jake Morris, George's friend. She remembered him being rather timid during the pool party, whilst she was--for lack of a better term-- bloodthirsty and feral. It was all in good fun, at least. "Ah, Jake!" She blurted out, mostly out of surprise as the young lad walked up to her.
As Jake inquired about the little frog, Breana's brain went into a small sort of panic. "Eh er, well... " She stammered, trying to wave her hand dismissively. "Yeah, I just saw this frog just around... and... yeah it's... it's nothing." Even though she's still a kid, the back of her mind encouraged her to throw away things like playing with frogs and other "childish nonsense." Was it because of past experiences? Maybe from seeing other students and how they've been acting lately? Or maybe it's just the natural form of the bewilderment that's called growing up? Either way, the Ravenclaw tried to wave it off.

@Breana Oliveire
Thinking a frog was nothing was a very strange thing to think, but it barely registered with Jake. He was too fascinated by the little hopping frog. The small boy crouched and watched the frog from a distance as it came to a stop on the ground, its froggy cheeks puffing. He forgot for a moment about the thoughts of his mum, and was focused fully on the creature.
The creature began to hop again, and Jake moved forward quietly too, still keeping his distance but not letting the little animal out of his sight. The thought that wanting to follow a frog was something childish didn't even come to his mind. Why would it, when frogs were so fascinating and cute?
"Do ya think he's lost...?" Jake asked, looking at the little hopping frog on the ground, and wondering where he lived. Sometimes frogs hopped out into the middle of nowhere. He seemed to be a small frog, and the campgrounds were massive. What if he couldn't find his home...?
Jake lay down on the grass, and looked forward, watching through the blades at the frog. He hadn't worn any of his good clothes to camp, and his mum had told him it was ok if they got mussed up. That was nice because it meant Jake didn't have to worry about grass-stains when following frogs.
"He's not a very big frog," Jake observed.
