Alina had been peering into the cauldron when the room went dark and instinctiely she pulled back. Rose took hold of her and she was rather glad she did because she pulled her down as the cauldrons began to explode - one after the other. A true Gryffindor. She then apologized as she began to brush some of the ash and debris from her hair but Alina just shook her head, still in disbelief and shaken from the sound. "N-No need to apologize," she whispered, glad she had pulled her back. What if she had still been peering into the cauldron when it exploded?

She now looked around with the lights back on. All three cauldrons in front of her had exploded and all three to the left had and the one off to the side as well. "I was just looking into it...I didn't do anything," she declared, hoping everyone realized that.

No one would think she had done something, would they? HAD someone done something? She glanced around to all the others. Why were so many people in the Potions classroom at this time? She started to wonder... Did someone have a vendetta against the Potions professor, hoping to destroy some of his supplies? Did someone want to get out of Potions class by destroying the classroom? Did someone want harm to come to someone else in the room? Was it meant as a prank?

She folded her arms over her chest feeling slightly uneasy. She didn't think Henry Knight had anything of the sort to do with it. He was super kind and helpful. Nor did Rose because she knew Rose well. She also didn't think it to be Nick. Was it even anyone in that room?

"I didn't think I saw anything in the cauldron in front of me but a light liquid. It didn't look explosive..." but she was just a Second Year and had lots to learn about Potions. Who knew, maybe it was. "We should clean up this mess." But as she looked around at it, it was the biggest mess she had seen in her life! Would they even be able to do so and how did they make up for seven damaged cauldrons? The professor was going to be irate when he found out!

Nick started tensing up slightly as the boy next to him started asking him a bunch of questions. He hadn't expected anyone to take what he said as anything more than an offhand remark, but of course, the students of Hogwarts were a curious bunch. To be fair, he could feasibly be a seer. He didn't quite know how the powers exactly worked, but Professor Ostrowski always did seem to know whenever someone was dozing off. Wouldn't he have more of a fascination in Divination then?

"Well... I-I mean don' really know. I was mostly just saying it as a joke, ye know? I kind o' use jokes when 'm nervous.." Nick said trailing off at the end. It wasn't that he was nervous to tell anyone he was a seer yet, it's just that he felt he hadn't warranted being able to call himself one yet. He's had a couple of flukes here and there, but nothing special. Then again, all the attention that must come if people knew you could see into the future must be a bit nerve-wracking.

Just as he was about to try to change the topic to something else, the lights went out. Nick wasn't the kind of person to scream or run in darkness, he found those people quite annoying. Instead, he tried to keep himself as still as possible as to not run into anything, especially when you're in a room full of desks, chairs, and people.

The room was mostly quiet for the moments that followed until the lights went back on. The students had a moment of relief before the cauldron in front of Henry blew up in his face. Nick was about to chuckle at the boy's predicament before his cauldron blew up as well. "Fecking hell!" he exclaimed loudly as the substances in the cauldron blinded his vision momentarily.

Nick coughed a bit as he tried to wipe off the gunk on his clothes and face. He thought he heard Akari exude her frustration as well, which would've made Nick smile if he wasn't in the middle of this mess. He always liked people who had the mouth of a sailor, and it was funny hearing it from someone smaller and seemingly innocent like Akari.

Autumn paused at Moon's reply. So, she wasn't alone on this; the others needed the teacher too. Clearly, they were getting nowhere.

"Yeah, I'm not sure where he is either."

What she did not add was that clearly hey weren't getting anywhere standing mindlessly in the empty class. Autumn knew better. She would just silently leave and find the professor somewhere else. Perhaps she could just give up and study in the common room. Perhaps she could ask another teacher. She expected that another teacher would know where the Potions professor was.

What she did not expect was for the lights to go out. That had, although Autumn hated to admit, been a surprise. A pleasant surprise, but a surprise indeed. She liked the dark. It was her space, her sanctuary, the place where she thrived. So, when darkness arose, she shrugged it off after a moment of confusion and began moving towards the door, not before hearing a dashing sound, probably of one of the students. It had come from Stewarts's direction. Or Knight's. Or Moon's. She did not know, nor did she particularly care.

Next, before Autumn could exit the room, the lights came back on and the cauldrons exploded. She sighed. What had she gotten herself into now?

The Story
The Moderation

The seven kids seemed to be in disbelief as they wonder why the cauldrons suddenly exploded, it is clear to see that friendships were tested and judgment is on the line now to revel the person behind the act and get out of trouble. As Rose shower her friendship to Alina when we saw her pulling Alina down with her and away from the cauldron that she for some reason was peering into, quite suspicious a outsider like a professor would think. Akari seemed to have a bit of a sailor mouth on her after exclaiming: what in the bloody hell was that meanwhile something was definitely off about Autumn, was she judging the others and trying to find out who was behind the crime or did she just have a generally distrust of the group as a whole? Well the girl would be correct to have suspicions of the slytherin trio in the group, I mean who wouldn't since isn't Slytherin's the known rule breakers at Hogwarts and when the potions exploded their were three of them all standing next to each other, consequence? Maybe or maybe not?

Maybe if there would have been a ravenclaw present then they could figure out that Cash was behind the cauldrons but their wasn't which left the question unanswered and everyone in the room not only a suspect but also guilty when Professor @Aleksander Ostrowski arrives but in the meantime maybe they should take Alina advice to heart and start cleaning the mess?
But only time will tell....
Now let's continue our tale ~

Henry still looked around the room at the others a bit awkward at the fact that one of them could have exploded the cauldrons, he didn't want to believe it but what other choice did the twelve year old had since they were the only ones their but why would someone do such a thing. As a prank or to get revenge for a bad grade, did that person know that they would all be there that day and could easily slip out or get away with it?

Henry looked around the room at the others, as Cash replied to him saying they didn't have a clue what just happen before Rose spoke up who from what Henry saw crouched down with Alina during the explosion before apologizing after to Alina and also saying that she didn't know. Alina however after talking to Rose, said something that took Henry's curiosity and interest. That she was looking into the cauldrons but didn't do anything, Henry didn't believe she would but then who would? Nick and Akari also ask what was going on or shouted something about the explosion but Autumn stayed silent now that Henry's attention.

Henry looked around the room and tried to figure out if or who would have might caused the cauldrons to explode, while Alina mentioned looking into one which definitely peaked Henry's curiosity, he still didn't think that Alina would do it because she seemed to friendly and kind to such a thing. Same goes for Rose, Henry met the girl before and didn't think that she was response for this and while Henry didn't really know Akari, he didn't think that a first year would risk detention by doing this either.

Henry looked at the last three, while Henry knee Cash and spoke to them before a part of him was telling him that they didn't do it while the other part was still unsure but for Nick something just told the boy that he was innocent. As for Autumn, Henry wasn't so sure he was getting mix feelings from the girl and she already seemed to have some tension with Rose who Henry thought was the kindest person he ever met so at the moment the only person that Henry suspected was Autumn.

Henry still looked around the room and heard Alina speak, but he couldn't help but worry that if the professor came in there and saw them cleaning would he automatically think that they were the ones that did it? Henry couldn't help but worry about this as his anxiety rose and his voice broke out " cleaning sounds good, but do you guys think if the professor comes in and sees us cleaning that he would think that we did this? I mean we didn't right, I mean all of us were just standing here when the lights went out and then came back on, did you guys see anything? Do you think someone else planned all of this that isn't in the room?" Henry stopped and saw what he was doing, he was asking questions and rambling on like he always did when he was anxious so he spoke again " sorry about that I tend to ask questions in uh these types of situations," Henry then looked around before saying " what did we get ourselves into?"

Rose's first thought was that someone else in the room had done it. I mean, who else could have?
She doubted it could have been Alina. Yes, trouble always found Alina, and Alina sometimes looked for it herself- she had been talking about swimming in the Great Lake, and she took Rose up to the astronomy tower at night. But Rose didn't think she would do something of this extent, this big, and especially not to school property. Though the probability that it was Alina was high, Rose didn't believe it for a second.
Rose really didn't know any of the other kids in the room very well, so she really couldn't judge who it really was. Maybe it was all of them, and they had wanted to prank Rose.
Each suggestion seemed as ridiculous as the next, yet this situation was ridiculous, something Rose would never have guessed happened.
The tension spiked in the room and in Rose- was she going to get in trouble for this? She was a good student, but Professor Ostrowski was not one to have favorite students, and unless someone fessed up, they were probably going to get in trouble- all of them. He would think that the ways they got there were excuses to try to get out of it.
Rose tugged on the sleeves of her sweater, pulling it tighter around her body, feeling way colder than she should, even in the dungeons.
Rose cleared her throat, feeling weird to talk to the group. "I mean, we shouldn't just leave. That would be even worse. We can start cleaning up and then when the professor comes in we can tell him what happened and that we had nothing to do with it..." Rose suggested. She knew that it probably wasn't the best plan in this situation, especially when she really just wanted to run, as fast as she could, away from this situation, away from the classroom, away from the blame being placed on her.
She guessed it could be someone out of the room, but she doubted it, until... "I mean, it all seems too convenient, seven cauldrons, seven people, the lights going out..."
Rose pulled her wand out of her back pocket. She would have used reparo, but she didn't think that it would work that way. "Scourgify," she said quietly, motioning to the ashes on the table. An invisible dustpan and broom swept the ashes and broken cauldron pieces up into a pile on the table.
Not really exactly sure how Scourgify works, so if this is wrong, please tell me and I will fix it!

"Yeah, we definitely have to clean it up," she agreed with Rose and looked around for something - anything. She walked over towards the wall where she knew one of the supply cabinets held some washrags and grabbed a handful, taking a couple to place under the sink to wet with water.

"Or if others don't want to clean, I can. Maybe that's best..." she hesitated. "I mean, if someone's going to get in trouble," which it felt like they were, "we don't ALL have to get in trouble. Everyone else can just go and I can take care of it."

Alina Rosier may not have liked being sorted into Slytherin during her first year at Hogwarts but she was through and through the true definition of a Hufflepuff. She was a Hufflepuff and Hufflepuff was her. She wanted to help out there, not just the cleaning and mending of things, but to save her friends and those there with her from getting any sort of punishment - whether that was detention, getting house points taken away, or worse.

She came to one of the workstations that had the cauldrons, now dripping with whatever contents and began to scrub, not waiting for anyone's answer. Maybe if she'd hurry, and with some luck, she could make some progress before the Professor ever came.

Akari stood there, still stunned from the whole situation. She began thinking more deeply about what happened. There were still two other students who she hadn't interacted with. She glanced over in their direction while she began to bit her inner lip slightly. Her eyes lingered on the two before examining the rest of the people there. Had it actually been one of the seven who had done this? Well, six since she obviously didn't do it. She also mentally crossed off Rose and the other girl who she still hadn't picked up her name, because the both of them started making an effort to clean, so why would they make such a big mess just to clean it up less than a minute later? That didn't make any sense whatsoever.

She began to frown, would she be under suspicion? Would someone think she was behind this? Well why would someone suspect her? She looked too innocent to do anything like that... but that's just the thing. Exactly that could be what will make people think that it was her, since no one would automatically suspect her. As well as the fact that she was the only first year there, that was a little odd. No no no, she was just overthinking.

She sighed out loud. She should help them to clean. Not that she particularly wanted to, but she wasn't going to just leave them there. That would be really rude of her. She walked over to where she saw one of the girls get a few washcloths and reached up for one as well.
"What utter rubbish this is"
She mumbled under her breath growing more displeased by the second.

Nick sighed as he looked at the scene around him. You would think that he could get out of situations like this as a seer, but no, this stupid ability just decides to work at the most inconvenient times, presenting the least useful information available. Maybe next year, he'll be able to talk to the Divination professor and put some use to this supposedly super-rare gene.

Alas, for now, he would have to use deduction to figure out the culprit. While it would be an easy-clean, Nick quite liked the shirt he was wearing, and it was rude of the person to have to make him clean it in the first place. Alina mentioned looking in the cauldrons, but it couldn't be her. For one, she was one of the friendliest people Nick had ever met, and two, that would draw too much attention to her.

Out of all the people in the room, he probably would've suspected himself the most if he was an outsider. Mysterious Slytherin that only one person knows slightly with an ability to see in the future? With that much evidence, Nick started to suspect himself even though he didn't do it. Out of the other students, Nick probably would be the least mad in hindsight. It was quite a good prank, just by the sheer absurdity of how it came to be.

"I hae no idea mate, it's incredible how I get intae these situations." Nick said to Henry's questions, "All I know is that, according tae Alina, one o' ye did this. N' I don' quite know how ye did since the circumstances o' all us bein' here seem to be random. Either way, crakin' prank." Just another thing that would probably make people suspect him more, or at the very least, not like him.

Rose scowled, hating every second of this situation. It was making her seriously anxious about what was going to happen. "Seriously?" Rose put her wand away. The charm hadn't helped too much, and plus, it was better to start cleaning without magic than make something worse. "I'm not letting you clean up alone." Rose grabbed a rag and started helping to clean up. Akari seemed to follow the other girls' example, which gave Rose a little relief that at least someone wasn't going to ditch them or just stand there.

Utter rubbish indeed.

The shock had more worn out and it was replaced by irritation. Why did Rose, of all people, have to be put in the perfect position to be framed? Maybe, just maybe, they could clean up and then leave before the professor came back, free of this entire situation. Maybe they could convince him they had nothing to do with it and he would let them off the hook.

The guy that had introduced himself as Nick earlier was just standing there, doing absolutely nothing. Not even helping them clean, just commenting that that prank was "crackin". 'You mean the same prank that would probably get us detention? Yeah, amazing prank, whoever did that.' Rose tried not to snarl as she said, "Help us clean up or leave, please, Nick." It came out very neutral. Her voice wasn't cold. But it wasn't warm either. When her voice lacked that warmth that was always there, it sounded very monotone, almost as if there was no emotion in it at all. Better than her snapping at him, though. Unless someone paid creepy enough attention to her voice (like Rose did to just about everything), though, it just sounded like she was asking him politely. Though it was impossible for anybody could tell, a little spark of dislike for this "Nick" ignited in her.

Autumn felt like she could just "aw" at Alina's offer to help. Sarcastically and mockingly, of course, but she felt like she could "aw" at the offer nevertheless. It was a stupid offer. Everyone leaving, meaning Alina would have to clean the mess alone and almost definitely get into trouble for something Autumn did not even think she had done?

It was so stupidly selfless. Selflessness itself was stupid. It was life, and the goal was to survive, not to help others survive. Which was why Autumn had no problem getting up and walking out of the potions classroom, without needing to help clean, or share responsibility for the mess when the professor inevitably arrived. She hadn't started the mess; she didn't need to end it.

However, if the professor walked in while Autumn was leaving, she would end up inevitably being a large suspect. And, maybe the professor would not come at all, and nobody would get into trouble, and she would make Alina do the work, even though if Autumn had remained, she would not have gotten in trouble. Also, it would be good to build rapport and make allies. They could come in handy in the future.

That was why she stayed. It was not because she felt the need to help. It was not because she did not find it fair to make a single person clean up the mess of another with no help. It was not because Autumn knew Alina to be kind, and because she did not want Alina to do all of this work by herself. No, that was not it all.

And even if it was, it was not as if she could admit it; she had a reputation to uphold.

"I'm staying and helping. However, if this is mentioned to anybody not inside of this classroom currently, I will guarantee you that you will regret it. I cannot go around doing nice things all the time, it would completely wreck my image and my view and understanding of my identity, character and temperament, perhaps sending me into a full breakdown which has the possibility to last for months.

She took her wand out and began casting "scourgify".
