After being able to take a second to adjust their potato sacks, the other three girls were off. Maybe fueled by the rage of all somehow choosing... not to move at all at the start of a race. But, to each their own. Starlee seemed to do the best at recovering, running ahead of every one and even launching over the log hurdle with a little of a struggle, but otherwise getting over. Remi seemed to be taking his time tackling the hurdle with stopping for a moment to really prepare for that leap of faith. Martyna and Melissa were easily able to catch up to Remi, but also seemed to hesitate in the face of the giant log they had to leap over.

For a moment Willow wondered if the log had been too intimidating of an addition, she even glanced at the other two obstacles and considered rolling them off right then but no. If Starlee could do it then there was a good chance the other three could. They just needed to build up the bravery~ This would be their first challenge among many at Hogwarts. If they couldn't jump over this log, how were they going to face the seemingly inevitable attack on their common room eventually? "Come on guys! You can do it! You just gotta... jump!"

Success! Tina tore forwards in her potato sack, feeling on top of the world. Although she wasn't quite as speedy as Starlee, she managed to catch up with Remi without much hassle, Melissa doing the same. He seemed to find the log obstacle, which they were rapidly approaching, quite daunting, stopping to adjust his sack before tackling it, it seemed. She couldn't blame him - it was surprisingly tall, something which neither of them were. Whilst Tina was busy contemplating over how to even attempt getting over the damn thing, hopping forwards in her sack, Starlee took the leap of faith. Tina's jaw dropped as she watched her friend bounce up, landing on top.

That was amazing!

"Oh my gosh! Yes Star! You're winning!" Tina called out, fighting the urge to jump out of her sack and wrap the Slytherin girl in a hug. She had a race to focus on, and she couldn't let herself get too distracted. Hell, she couldn't let Starlee win (although briefly celebrating her success was fine, she reasoned). Fuelled by the girl's success, Tina held tightly onto the rim of the bag, before preparing to leap up onto the log. This terrifying obstacle was one she was certain she could overcome. With a deep breath, Tina bounced up, hopefully managing to overcome it.

And after that slight bit of preparation, Starlee was off. She looked to either side of her, noticing both Tina and Melissa there. Hop, hop hop, they went. It wasn't long before the three of them caught up to Remi, who had stopped before the large log to prep himself for the big hop... the log. Starlee saw Melissa and Tina stop in hesitation, but Starlee knew better. 'This is my chance to get ahead of all of them...' she thought. She mustered all the strength she could and hopped.

And... SHE DID IT. SHE MADE IT ATOP THE LOG! She let off a little internal celebration, banners waving and fireworks shooting off in her head, as she heard Tina cheering her on from below her. She looked back at Tina and grinned. It was so nice to have the support of someone! She was SO ready to win this thing! She spared no time in prepping herself again, oh no, she was going to keep pressing onward!

It was then she heard Willow cheering on the others to jump onto the log. No way was Starlee gonna simply let them past her! Onward! Time to keep this momentum up! Nothing scared her anymore, not even the hop back off the log.

After a few hops, Melissa felt more confident and hopped faster. She hopped quite fast and caught up with Remi, who started hopping the moment they started. Soon after she caught up with Remi, the ginger realized why he had stopped. There was a log in front of them and it was quite large. She noticed that the others had also stopped to stare at the obstacle in front. How in the world are we supposed to get over that in these potato sacks? she wondered. The moment she had finished her thought, the most amazing thing happened. Starlee hopped and landed on top of the log. It almost seemed like she was flying for a split second. Oh wow so it is possible- Mel thought, bracing herself so she can also hopefully get over.

Watching the other girl hoping over the log gave the ginger some hope. She gripped her potato sack as hard as she could and when she was ready, she hopped with all of her strength. She then noticed that Martyna was doing the same, jumping up as hard as she could. Then, Melissa wondered, What if I just don't make it onto the log? She really didn't want to jinx it but that thought just got stuck in her head.

As Remi readied himself, blinking a couple of times as he tried to get real comfortable in this sack prison that he needed to get over a couple of logs so he could his first place reward. He didn't want anything else, a win has to be a win.

Even if he were to get second place, this would give his ego a serious hit (which might do him some good) so even seeing Starlee get past him, a feeling of inferiority due to sticking with his sisters that would be out-doing him with almost anything he did. He wouldn't allow this to happen, even if he was the only boy with a bunch of girls, he'll try his darndest to win.

Even if he had to body check someone, but he doubts he'll do that. When it comes to physical violence using the human body, he knew he wasn't going to win that body.
"C'mere STARLEE!"
Remi groaned as he gripped onto his sack of wonders and tried to boost himself up off the log and forward to the race. Let's hope that Yao Luck was on his side.

Maybe Remi wasn't the fittest as beads of sweat were already forming on his chocolate-skinned forehead, but he had a smile mixed with him bitting down onto his bottom lip. He hopes he could win this.

The race was heating up more than what was anticipated. A lot less violence of shoulder checking than Willow had experienced at her pre-summer egg race. Maybe it was just the fact that the older kids were more willing to fight each other for a win, rather than just fighting themselves for it. There was encouragement tossed between players even. Silence of concentration from one. The last one to arrive just really struggling to keep his foothold, literally.

When Remi were to try and make a running leap for the log hurdle his food would be unable to find purchase and he would end up just slipping down to the ground. Forced to try again and watch as Melissa and Tyna soared over the log as if it was nothing. Well, perhaps Melissa's was a little bit clumsy. But this wasn't exactly a graceful obstacle to achieve. Willow's hands were clasped in front of her and white knuckled. She found herself more interested in whatever was happening, not as the referee, but as a simple observer. She cringed when Remi didn't make it. "Come on Remi! Hop like those frogs we caught over the summer!" Ah yes, an impartial judge in deed. She just wanted to make sure every one had adequate cheering on. "Come on Melissa! You're catching up! Starlee, you're... you were in the lead. So keep going! Tina come on, show Starlee and Melissa what you got!"

She wasn't trying to pit friends against each other, but that would make for a terribly interesting game.

For a second, Melissa was screaming at herself in her head while she was in the air. Her jump was not good at all. Although she lost her hope and faith in herself, she somehow still made it onto the log. It was kind of really clumsy that she almost fell when she landed but she still made it. The ginger looked beside her and saw that Martyna had also made it. Although she didn't really care, she still wanted to win. Before she even knew it, she hopped off the log, onto the grass, and continued to hop as fast as she could.

Mel actually had a small lead before she stopped again. It was the second log, as large as the first one. Oh no, she thought. The first one was already difficult enough but there it was. A second log in front of her. Honestly, she didn't really want to hop onto the log and possibly fall so she decided to procrastinate. She looked behind her and saw Remi, still trying to overcome the first log. He had tried to jump onto it but it just ended up where he was before. Melissa also noticed Willow was encouraging him to try again. "Come on Remi! You can do it!" she called out just as the pink-haired girl finished talking. It wasn't much, to be honest, but she just wanted to encourage a fellow first year. Then, she gripped her potato sack as hard as she could again. Okay Mel, you did this once already. You can do it again, she said to herself. Before she knew what she was doing, she jumped up once again, still questioning why she's doing it.

Starlee easily hopped back off the log and continued pressing forward. She was in the lead, until she noticed Melissa catch up to her. Starlee shouldn't have stopped at the log to get her bearings, but it was too late now. Starlee had a decision to make. Should she keep running, or try to slow one of them down? She looked to both sides of her. Melissa on her left, Tina slightly behind her on the right. And... where was Remi? She managed to look back to see he was really struggling with that log. Poor lad. A bunch of girls showing him up at a physical challenge probably wasn't the best feeling, but hey, what are ya gonna do?

It was then that Willow yelled at them, seeming to offer some sort of support out to each of them. Willow's comment about Starlee not being in the lead anymore seemed to set off some fire inside her. 'I will do what it takes to get back in the lead again!' She took no time in deciding her next move and so she hopped out of her row in an attempt to shoulder check Melissa. With Remi being so far behind, perhaps this would be her only chance to really leave both of them in the dust. She didn't care if Tina managed to win the whole thing, really, the poor girl deserved a win after her horrible first day here. But Star would definitely do what she could to come in second.

Tina hurled herself over the log with strength that she wasn't aware she had, her feet barely grazing the top of it in a moment of acrobatic elegance! ...Okay, perhaps this was a slight exaggeration, but the Hufflepuff's imagination was running wild at the brilliance with which she'd just performed. She was in the Olympic stadium, bounding along the track with the crowd roaring all around her, her opponents losing the will to continue as she streaked along, curls lifting off her head with each valiant jump, effortlessly taking the lead! Although Tina wouldn't usually consider herself the sporty type, the thought of such a scenario did excite her quite a bit, admittedly.

Her feet landed on the ground, knees bent. Caught of guard by this, she stumbled. Despite Melissa's initial struggle to get over the log, she was recovering well, blazing forwards with the front of her sack clutched between her hands and shouting encouragement to Remi. Remi, who was lagging behind. Tina was almost tempted to stick back and taunt him, but decided very quickly that it wouldn't be a wise idea with Willow watching, and, most significantly, that the potential prize of chocolate frogs was much more important. Spurred on by their referee's inspirational cheers, Tina pressed on, not missing the way Starlee eyed Melissa. Her Slytherin was showing. Of course, there was no way she would warn Melissa about this. Sometimes, just sometimes, it paid to be a little cunning.

Also, as if she would snitch on a friend!

"C'mon Remi!" Tina called back, her eyes sparkling. She figured a little fighting talk would be okay but, for a small second, caught herself glancing to Willow as if to check for permission. "Yeah! You don't wanna get shown up by all three of us, do you~?"

Yao Luck. What a load of hog-wash.

As Remi got onto the side of the log, teetering a little as he tried to press himself forward but he failed! He hopped back down the log haphazardly before stumbling a little as he needed to do it again.
"N-NO!"
He said, not his failure of getting over the log but this utter failure to catch him to his peers who were almost off to the second log already while he was at the first one still.

Man, he wished he could just say I'm done here and go back into the castle and do something else with this time. Now he'll have to admit defeat.

"I can at least tried though..."
He told himself, hearing his father telling him that it's important to do so. With a pained sigh, he shot daggers at the log again as he had a look of, 'I will conquer you, fool!' Gripping onto his potato sack prison again before trying to jump again with an added 'erugh!'; pulling up the fabric of the sack and jumping at the same time and he really did hope that would do something.

However, a kiddish giggle emitted from him as now he wasn't worried about too much about the competition but overcoming this challenge as he boomed over to the other girls,
"I'm coming after you three!"
He bit down onto his lip again, maybe a bit of his tongue peeking out as he was really trying to focus on getting over this log.
