As the day of activities was reaching its end, only one thing remained. The finale. A game of tug of war, students against professors.
River thought back to the game of tug of war she’d played previously with a group of students. It didn’t really end all that well, hopefully this game would be less… bloody. There Were quite an amount of people who were joining. Most of them were students making the professors very outnumbered. Oh well, they’d figure it out.
The ravenclaw moved over to the group of people waiting for the game to begin. After the round of sponge pass she’d just taken part in, she was getting quite ready to head to bed after this. There had been quite enough excitement for the day, and River rubbed her eyes tiredly.

Her slender arms crossed over each other as she stood there waiting for the people to get ready for the challenge. There was no doubt she wasn’t the strongest around, there was little muscle to boast about. Though she thought what would be most important, as last time, the trick was to work together as a team, and together they’d be stronger. The redhead cringed as it sounded extremely cliché in River’s mind, but she knew there was some truth to it. Though, they had not gotten to fully test that out during the last game of tug of war, so perhaps today would be a better attempt.

Right. Her birthday. It was that day. She had not expected anyone to remember, in reality. She never really expected people to remember, nor did she bother to celebrate it. Though, it would appear that this year was different. It started off with eating cake - one of the few traditions she actually did do - and apparently... receiving gifts or birthday wishes.

Hjørdis could only sigh when her younger cousin almost tripped up. The years would go on but Callie Jensen would not get any less clumsy, it would seem. Though, at the very least, she seemed able to catch herself. As soon as she started to talk, Hjørdis wondered if she should use the cleaning charm on the Ravenclaw's face anyway.

"There's a slight difference between 75 million and 90 gazillion, Miss Clumsy," She replied back to her cousin with a small smirk on her face to show she was not actually offended. Mostly because it was so ridiculous that it could obviously not be true. It was far less offensive than if she called her something that was realistically an option, like forty - shudder.

She laughed softly, "Uh huh, right. I heard Hercules really struggled with suitcases. They were his kryptonite," Referencing another muggle fandom's superhero that Callie would likely get. Probably. Who knew what kids watched these days? Superman was fairly popular when she was growing up, at the very least - you know... 70 million years ago.

Caradoc was asked to come and participate in today's event: Tug of War. While he almost certainly knew the odds would be against him, the fact that it had been two of his badger girls coming to ask was as sneaky as a Slytherin could have been. How could he have denied any of their requests. So with a gentle smile and a brief sigh he had decided to accept their invitation. He wasn't that weak, maybe he could make an honourable stand against the horde of children that was likely waiting outside. In fact, if he was to go down, he would certainly go down fighting. Owning up to the task at hand, all he decided to wear was his jeans and a light grey/blue T-shirt. On his own pace, as some parts still hurt, he began to march down the halls and out onto the grounds.

"75 million?" He interjected the conversation as he arrived. "No wonder her hair is white!" Caradoc smiled at the small Ravenclaw he recognised as another Jensen. "Lets hope age helps us kick your little asses then won't we?" He offered the nearby children a wink and cocky grin. No matter what was going to happen, he'd have his fun one way or another. Passing by his Slytherin counterpart, he couldn't help give her a little smirk. "In my defence... this was not my idea..." Somehow he felt, he'd still be the one to blame according to her. Not that it kept him from grinning like the idiot he was.

The day had been, admittedly, incredibly fun. Sure, she had only went and participated in one activity, but it was a good one and brought a bit of excitement, nevertheless. At least she got to use her wand whilst bottle flipping. The girl had heard that the first years had to do potato sack racing. After all that was done and gone, and after the events for all of the students had neatly wrapped up for the day, it was time for the 'Field Day Finale', as the hosts called it. Apparently, it was going to be an epic game of tug of war, the students and professors battling it out to see who would ultimately reign supreme.

Obviously, the students would. The professors were just here to provide the pupils of Hogwarts with some form of opponent for their school-student bonding session.

Scarlett headed from the bottle flip event to where the tug of war would be taking place. Her wand was gripped tightly in her hand (you never know when you might need it) as the Gryffindor followed her peers to the long rope. Glancing around, Scarlett saw a few scattered teachers - an old woman who taught Divination or something, the Muggle Studies teacher and of course, Professor Jensen and Professor Browne, who seemed to be everywhere. Of course, with the crowd of students, there were bound to be a few enemies of hers. She narrowed her eyes at Henry Knight as she passed him and took her place at the rope behind some random person. She wasn't strong at all - this redhead wasn't built for tug of war. Ah well. She would try her best.

An incredibly jovial-looking boy turned to her from his position in front of Scarlett, saying about how he 'wasn't very strong' but he would 'tug as hard as he could' and if she 'was enjoying the Field Day'.

Taken by surprise at the boy she actually recognised, Scarlett laughed quietly in sarcasm. "I bet I'm way weaker than you, Piérre,"

It was that ridiculously cheerful guy from the feast, who had worn Hufflepuff robes and befuddled everyone. They had barely met, but why not have another chat?

"I mean -" Scarlett shrugged. "Field Day is going great! I did bottle-flipping with Ami, the redheaded Hufflepuff one. How about you?"

"Ah! Miss Clumsy? I'm not a Mr Men character, Nora! I'll have you know I COMPLETELY INTENDED to trip over. It's called an..intimidation tactic! Did it work? I bet it did. I'm very scary." Callie let out a bubbly laugh and fidgeted with the end of her shirt as she spoke. She always had been a hopeless fidget and today wasn't much different. Even in the familiar company of her older cousin Callie felt the incessant urge to keep her hands busy although thankfully this time around it didn't involve scribbling all over her jeans with a pen. She'd lost far too many hardworking pairs of jeans to the tyranny of the ballpoint pen.

Before Callie could even think about accusing Nora of being even older than 90 gazillion she found her train of thought interrupted by the appearance of Caradoc. "I'm convinced her hair is white because she's secretly got a massive nose, you know like those cartoon witches?" Callie shot Nora a wide grin, clearly trying to wind her cousin up. Taunting Nora was something that Callie never failed to enjoy even when it could be further from the truth. At the mention of kryptonite Callie's mood immediately perked up as even so early into the term the poor girl was missing the comfort of the silver screen. "Gah! I'm not Superman! Although I do appreciate the sentiment, I think that title should be reserved for ahem, Professor Browne." Callie laughed and stuffed her hands into her pockets to stop herself from tugging at her shirt even more. "Nobody can be that tall and even claim they aren't some form of Superman! No, you can't change my mind on this before you even try." In truth just about everyone was tall to Callie since she herself was extremely short but that certainly wasn't going to change her mind on the subject.

Callie may have even continued to justify her comparison of Superman and Caradoc but his taunts brought a screeching halt to that train of thought. "Hey careful! She might break her knee or something..old people do that right? Ooh or maybe get a hip replacement!" Callie let out another laugh before an idea suddenly sprung to mind. "That reminds me! I got you a birthday present befitting of a woman of your dinosaur..ness." Callie announced with a sense of pride and a wide toothy grin. Nora may murder her for getting her a walking stick but at least Callie would die knowing she annoyed her cousin.

With just little time, more students began to arrive. A Slytherin-- perhaps a second year-- responded to Maya's comment in light of instigating a "war" between the two sides. This was definitely going to be difficult if it was all these students against just a couple of professors. But of course, she wasn't going to show any sort of weakness to the small children. No matter how unequal the ratio was.

Luckily, Nora entered the field. With her strength added to Maya's, they can definitely take on a good amount. Maya was still wondering how strong Rosalind could actually be. Maybe, just maybe, there was some muscle underneath all that sag. SORRY, ROSALIND. I LOVE YOU. Maya walked over to the professor's side of the rope where she was nearby her colleagues. She grabbed the rope, getting ready to pull when the time came. Maya knew better than to be towards the middle. It was often the individuals closest to the middle would fall down from the strength of the other side, let alone from the domino effect of her colleagues falling forward. She began to move herself to hold the end of the rope, away from the middle.

The best part so far was a Ravenclaw who went up to Nora and told her "Happy Birthday" and tried to guess her age.

"Does this mean you're like 80 million years old now? Ooh, or maybe 90 gazillion years old?"

Maya could not help but to chuckle at the thought of a child "guessing" Nora's age. To add on top of that was Caradoc, who had just arrived, reinforced the guess with correlating age with Nora's white hair.

"I once told you that dying your hair white was going to date you. Who knew it aged you 90 gazillion years," she commented with a small laugh. Maya knew of Nora to always dye her hair when they were kids. She couldn't pin when she began to dye in white, but Maya could have sworn that she once questioned her decision on white.

"Mr. Browne," Maya welcomed. She hadn't really talked to him since the prior year in October after the masquerade ball. As Head of Hufflepuff, he was often busy with tasks that she hadn't met up with him again to get to know him like other professors.

Wow. Just... wow.

Even though the long list of names on the sign-up sheet had given Ami a general idea of just how many people were interested in a silly little set of events she had dreamt up, it was different seeing everyone milling about, mingling on the grounds and chatting with each other. "Holy moly..." she muttered under her breath in shock, her eyes wide as she glanced around at all of the students who had gathered. She figured that it was simply the possibility of competing against some professors, but part of her was proud that she'd actually taken part in organizing it all.

Speaking of, Ami made sure to stop by the person who'd actually made this all possible first. "Will!" she exclaimed, jogging over to the person who'd turned her chicken scratch into a sign-up sheet. "This looks incredible..." she breathed in disbelief, still ogling all of the people who'd shown up to pull on a rope. "Wow." Shaking her head slightly, she clapped her fellow Hufflepuff on the shoulder as she said, "I'm going to go say hi and thank you to the professors for showing up. You should come pull with us! It's not like this really needs a referee, you know?"

With that, Ami jogged towards the familiar faces that taught her on a daily basis. Joining @Maya Galim, @Hjørdis Jensen, @Caradoc Browne, and @Rosalind Kibitzer on the professor's side of the rope, she smiled hello to all of them. "Thank you all for coming- seriously," she said, her rather joking nature nowhere to be found as her expression was totally sincere. "It means a lot to me- and Willow. Now, let's kick some student as- butt, shall we?"

Pushing up the sleeves of her flannel, her eyes flashed deviously as Ami grinned, the muscles in her arms clearly more defined now that she was a much healthier weight. The redhead was a decently imposing figure, indeed, standing much taller than most other students her age and holding herself with a certain self-confidence that could even be chalked up to outright arrogance. That, combined with her well-muscled figured, made her a formidable enemy, especially in strength-based activities.... like this one.

With his upper body still doused in water, Søren made his way over to the large gathering of students. Unaware of how unruly he looked, with hair sticking up in every direction and parts of his shirt sticking to his body, he observed those participating in the event. A couple professors were present, some familiar like Miss Jensen and that funky Hufflepuff bloke. Søren could not place the other two professors, but one seemed to have a crazed look in her eye, and he could only hope that he didn’t made the unlucky choice of picking her third-year elective.

Would it truly be an unlucky choice, though? If the lady was that spirited in her classes, he might actually be able to pay attention for once.

Deciding it would be better to acquire more information before making hasty decisions, the boy approached the rope. Honestly, he still wasn’t sure what apple bobbing was, even after participating in the event. He held the same sentiments towards this Tug-of-War business. Was he supposed to take hold of that rough-looking rope? With his lilywhite, pureblood hands? Looking around at those who probably knew what they were doing, Søren just followed suit. He had zero knowledge of how the game would work or what team he was on, but he swiped up a section of rope and tried to look like an expert in the matter.

As Marcus approached the gathering of young witches and wizards, he took note of the familiar adult faces in the crowd. @Caradoc Browne in particular, considering he was the one who had told him about this field day and practically challenged him to join. And there was Nora (@Hjørdis Jensen) as well, talking to one of the kids. He picked up on the conversation, and was mildly confused. Birthday? As they continued talking and Marcus continued his approach, his eyes narrowed slightly. It was Nora's birthday? And he had no clue? Why had Browne not warned him? He knew Nora was a private person, but he at least expected Browne to spout it from the rooftops. Make a big deal of it. Well, this was just one more thing for Marcus to make fun of - in addition to the storytelling from the other night.

Marcus decided to not address the issue at the moment, though, and he instead joined the professors at their end of the rope. With Nora's wimpy and apparently aging arms, and only a couple others who had decided to join (@Rosalind Kibitzer and @Maya Galim, the latter whom he nodded to in greeting), the professor team was severely lacking.

"Hey, no consorting with the enemies!" Marcus called out to the gathering of adults and the young student whom he didn't know (@Callie Jensen). It was somewhat of a joke, but those who didn't know him probably would assume he was very serious. He then looked at the younger girl (@Ami Procoppio) who had suddenly decided to join the professor's side of the rope. Even she looked more capable than Nora! He respected the redhead's confidence. He grabbed hold of the rope and prepared to pull with the rest of the professors.

"Hello," Kibitzer said, nodding politely as she returned @Cassandra Ironwoods' greeting. She was confident. That was the key to victory, or a very harsh defeat. Regardless of the outcome, it was the competition that would be exciting - ideally, they would be evenly matched, rather than having the strongest members of staff come out to throw the children across the grounds. The current selection didn't seem like a terribly week bunch - though there were a few. Spindly little students she didn't recognize, a sign that they hadn't taken part in the last physical activity that Kibitzer had sponsored. Fools!

She couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at @Henry Knight's cocky remark. Divination is a bit faulty? She'd met more than enough students here to know that some of them were a bit faulty as well, but she thought everyone here at least had the good manners not to verbalize such things. The student who'd said it seemed to be about average in terms of strength. Rosalind made a mental note to ensure that he ended up in the mud by the end of this. "We will see, won't we?"

"Galim," said Rosalind, returning the greeting to @Maya Galim. It was refreshing to see her in a more pleasant context. Some twerp made a comment about her back and she pursed her lips. When they got old and their backs gave out, she'd be laughing at them from the afterlife. But right now, she had a more corporeal punishment to dish out. A few more professors arrived to join the gang of adults looking to prove their strength to children.

@Ami Procoppio jogged up and rolled up her sleeves - wow, that little girl was jacked. What the hell were they feeding this kid? Was there some sort of muscle charm they taught to the students in their latter years, or was this just how she looked? Rosalind was visibly quite impressed, both with her physique and arrogance. This one was a winner. Professor Kibitzer adjusted her grip on the rope, squeezing on tight. Ugh, this was gonna be terrible on her skin.
