Wearing a concerned expression, Alec questioned, "How bad does it hurt?" Wyatt simply answered, “could be worse.” He wasn’t just trying to make Alec more comfortable with his statement either. Compared to most other encounters he had, this was close to the bottom of the list. Which wasn’t really a good thing. “This isn’t fair, you know.” Wyatt offered a small smile. “I’ve only had to see you bloody once, when I beat you up. You’ve seen me like this twice,” a sigh. “Not fair,” he repeated. Slowly, with time, Wyatt’s smile faded.

Alec had asked what got him hurt, but Wyatt felt it would be best if he just shared the full story. The Slytherin closed his eyes. He didn’t want to look at Alec as he told the story of how he was brutally beaten. “I was just walking around this neighborhood… and I- I know you told me not to… but I think that might be why I went here in the first place. I needed to know what it was like. This place reminds me of home, so it felt nice walking around… and even when I was getting beat up, the familiarity was like a w- www… warm blanket.”

He continued, “they saw me. A few boys. They were older, in their late teens I guess. They were drinking and talking and they didn’t say anything to me, but I guess I looked at them for too long and they called me over. I went o- over like an idiot a- an- and they told me t- to hand over everything I h- hhhh- had. I for- forgot about the n- n… the neck- necklace.” Retelling the story was making his stutter come back. He was just embarrassed. Anyone would be, right? “I started to www- wa- walk away b- but one guy st- s- stopped me… and… here I am.”

It was difficult for Wyatt to remember the entire thing, he was probably unconscious for half of it. Suddenly, there was a sharp pain in his right arm. Looking down, he noticed a tear in his sleeve near his shoulder. How did he not notice that before? What was he cut by? A bottle? That’s not really something you just don’t notice for a bit. It also looked like it was still bleeding… was it recent? Wyatt didn’t understand what this strange injury was, but he knew he had to stop the bleeding somehow. He sat up abruptly, making his head ache.

He took off the short sleeve shirt he was wearing over the long sleeve, and used the balled up tee to cover the cut and hopefully slow the bleeding. He was sickly skinny as is, he didn’t need less blood. This blood loss was making him even more exhausted than before. “W- we need to go n- nn… n- now, o- or I might not m- make it all the way.” Taking the bloody shirt off the wound for a moment, he used his left arm to push himself up of the ground and struggled to stay standing. As soon as he was up, he put the shirt back on the cut.

Alec wasn't ready for that. At all. He froze. He could feel his heart beating in his chest as he sat there. Were those the same ones that..? Alec shifted slightly from where he was sitting, feeling uncomfortable. He'd thought maybe they were down with that by now, but maybe they were different people! They couldn't possibly be the same one's right? Right..? Right?! He'd practically ignored Wyatt's concerning words when he first spoke answering the question.

Alec didn't know how to react. It was all too much to take in. It was making his head hurt. He could barely focus as Wyatt kept speaking, Alec had spaced out almost right away at the mention of '-A few boys. They were older, in their late teens.' Wyatt couldn't make things up like that. It had to be them, Alec hadn't seen any other people like that near here, by his house, except those teens. The memory engraved in his mind, he watched as it replayed in his head.

A video, a picture perfect video of it, of everything that happened. It was odd, he remembered how half-way through he found himself looking at himself, if that made any sense at all. An out-of-body experience watching as things went down. It was scary, he couldn't feel anything. He'd had a thought in the moment that, that was maybe it for him, ya know.. But obviously it wasn't seeing as he was here, and well and alive now. It all felt too real though, and it was starting to strain Alec. Luckily there were no way too obvious signs to worry Wyatt or anything like that, but at least Wyatt's voice somehow pulled him out of it.

"W- we need to go n- nn… n- now, o- or I might not m- make it all the way." As Alec made his way back to reality, he could still barely focus. He needed to sit in his room and think.. "Oh-y-yeah u-um sorry.." Alec said standing up as quickly as he could walking closer to Wyatt to help support him. "S-sorry I was u-um distracted.." Alec mumbled as they started to walk refusing to let Wyatt walk without support from Alec [If he were to try to refuse Alec's help] if Wyatt did such a thing, and if he didn't have help, he was probably going to fall to the ground.

The boy only now began to realize his parents were going to have to be informed. This wasn't as bad as the freak out he had a moment ago but.. HE WAS NEVER GOING TO BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE HOUSE AGAIN unless it was for school. Alec knew Wyatt not dying was top priority, but c'mon!! This is serious business Alec is messing with here! OHohoho when his parents find out, it is not going to be good. The boy looked away, aiming his gaze towards the ground. OKAY MAYBE WE JUST LEAVE WYATT THER-Stupid brain. Shut up. Wyatt can't be left there, that'd be wrong. Besides the case of moral debate, nobody needs to get into. You still care if Wyatt is living and breathing. Wow, seems Alec just kept finding stuff to freak himself out. Especially with the whole 'teen boys may be the same ones' thing that Alec needed to process.

Alec then decided to bring up what Wyatt had said earlier to distract both Wyatt and himself while walking. "You know, it isn't fair that you keep getting hurt. And that I have to help you" Alec pointed out, the words feeling unfitting coming out of the boy's mouth. "Although" Alec said as they still kept on walking, slowly.. very.. very slowly. FINE, MAYB-"You had a point though." Alec said offering Wyatt a small faked smile. "Lucky for me, my stupid decisions don't usually result in me getting hurt." Alec said making it sound like he was gloating, but that was far from it. "Physically at least.." The boy mumbled. Emotional pain was a whole another 'can of worms' as muggles say. Alec wasn't going to argue he'd had more 'emotional pain' then Wyatt. But Alec was willing to argue he'd had more than his fair share. And that sometimes he wish he felt nothing. Like how Wyatt would act sometimes. Blank. It would be better than the way he felt at times. Better than feeling the way he did. Better than feeling how hurt he felt at times.

"You know, it isn't fair that you keep getting hurt. And that I have to help you," Alec pointed out. To this, Wyatt scoffed. It wasn’t like he was in love with the attention he got from being the damsel in distress, he was just an easy target and he was dumb enough to let his curiosity take the wheel most of the time. “You think it’s fun being kicked around and humiliated all the time? You’re lucky you’re not in my shoes. You probably wouldn’t last a day.”

Though Wyatt meant what he said, he couldn’t help but feel bad for the way he said it. Alec had helped him a lot over the summer, and especially right now. What was the point in being rude to someone who’s only trying to help? They kept walking along, oh, so slowly. It was so painful just being alive right now. Half of Wyatt wished those boys just finished the job, you know? His life would be a lot easier if he didn’t have to live it. But that wasn’t right…

"You had a point though," Alec said with a blatantly phony smile. "Lucky for me, my stupid decisions don't usually result in me getting hurt." Wyatt rolled his eyes. Yeah, because your stupid decisions usually get other people hurt, he thought, remembering Alec's hilarious prank. But he kept quiet. Wyatt had begun practicing the art of keeping his mouth shut about a week ago, and he wanted to keep it that way. "Physically at least."

Wyatt snuck a quick glance at Alec. Wyatt barely understood that other people lived with emotional pain. All the kids at Hogwarts made themselves look untouchable, so Wyatt did the same. It was sort of his way to fit in, but he assumed he overdid it. Most of the kids were afraid of him, some of them were too stupid to be afraid and bullied him relentlessly, but only a few knew him well enough to know that half of the nasty rumors weren’t true.

“Alec?” Wyatt paused… like he was going to ask something important. And, well, he was. At the last second though, he looked down at the ground and said something else, instead. “Are we going to figure out a good excuse as to why the hell I look like this or am I going to avoid your mother till this heals, and if so… how?” Wyatt felt bad for putting his own question to the side, but he couldn’t do anything about it. He was too afraid to know.

Do you still think I’m the worst, he wanted to ask.

Alec was going way too deep with his thoughts. He needed to stop. He was thinking too much. He liked it better when he looked like an idiot with his dramatic entrance to 'loserville'. It was fun. And funny. Although Alec wasn't sure Wyatt got his sense of humor. Wyatt probably thought Alec was childish. It probably annoyed him how long Alec took to just get there. Alec probably looked a fool with his bleeding knees.

But even with that, he was smiling. He didn't regret it.. But he was now questioning if it was really worth it. He could've beaten Wyatt if he tried. Rubbed it in his face. He could've been a complete git about it. Alec wouldn't have felt as good about it. And wouldn't be like him.. nor would it have been much fun if he took it too seriously. But at least he would've proved something. What Alec was trying to prove to Wyatt was beyond him. But he still wanted to prove it.

There were too much thoughts swirling in Alec's head. He felt he just might explode with all the thoughts he's yet to sort out. "Alec?" Alec heard Wyatt say. This was good timing. Maybe Wyatt could distract Alec from questioning ALL HIS FREAKING MORALS. And questioning all his life choices. "Yeah?" Alec asked, looking back over at Wyatt. There was a long pause. What did Wyatt have to say?

Was it important becau-"are we going to figure out a good excuse as to why the hell I look like this or am I going to avoid your mother till this heals, and if so… how?" Oh.. Well.. That was important, not what Alec was expecting. But It was important. "An idiot move, I know. But I've decided I'm going to tell my mom and my dad the truth. They'll know what to do. Or at least I think my dad will.." Alec said, then shrugged. "The worst my parents could do it just not let me go back to Hogwarts" Alec said keeping surprisingly cool for someone who'd be freaking out if that ever were to actually happen. He couldn't imagine not being able to go back to Hogwarts. Not being able to see any of his friends.. Or anything. It was his only escape away from all the craziness at home. And it was something he really needed. Not just for learning, but all the social stuff as well. How Alec was able to get by before Hogwarts was beyond him now. Then again, it would save him embarrassment if he ever had to see Clifton again, which he would, of course. Have too. Which was the small. Very small. Upside to the matter.

This reminded Alec. "Since were talking about stuff.." Alec said, his gaze falling somewhere else again. "Why were you acting all weird when we met Clifton? You know, you didn't have to come if you didn't want to. I'd just thought I'd offer since you might like ice cream out of the deal.." Alec said his voice grew sort of quiet as if he was still trying to figure it out himself. "Were you nervous?" Alec asked then added "O-or did do I something earlier that upset you..? I sort of thought we were on some sort of good terms.. So if so.. I'm not sure what I did" Alec said. His gaze finally focusing on the ground.

When Alec admitted that his plan was to tell his parents the truth, Wyatt’s stomach churned. Wyatt couldn’t imagine going to someone and telling them what had gone on that day. Wyatt just swallowed and kept his head down, careful not to show Alec how anxious he was. Thankfully, Alec began to talk. "Since we’re talking about stuff... Why were you acting all weird when we met Clifton?" Alec asked earnestly. He seemed genuinely confused.

The truth wasn’t so clear, not even to Wyatt, and when Wyatt didn’t say anything for a moment, Alec continued. "You know, you didn't have to come if you didn't want to. I'd just thought I'd offer since you might like ice cream out of the deal." Alec was speaking in a low voice, like he was trying to put the pieces together. "Were you nervous?" He paused, maybe coming to a realization of sorts? "O-or did do I something earlier that upset you..?"

There was silence for a bit after that, Wyatt trying to put together a response of some kind. “I don’t know.” It was all he could come up with. Lately he’d been doing things, only to feel. He woke up early and got on the stupid train for hours to feel tired. He went over to the “bad” side of the neighborhood to fuel his curiosity, and feel the warmth of familiarity of a place like Cokeworth again. He walked straight to his future attacker to feel scared.

All that and all he could say was I don’t know. But everything was confusing nowadays. It was strange how it never really dawned on Wyatt how odd the entire summer had been. Not just the death of his mother, but the mother of his enemy taking him in less than a week after it happened. Perseus following Wyatt from Cokeworth to Bristol, just to disappear, never to be found again. Where had Perseus been tonight? Was he near?

Wyatt remembered the trash can, the one that got knocked over and frightened Alec. Could that have been the snake? It had been so long since Wyatt had seen Perseus, and he knew he should apologize for tossing him the last time they’d seen each other. Wyatt stopped in his tracks, and said, “I need to go back.” He turned, and noticed that the two had been walking so slow that they’d barely gone far from the abandoned lot.

Wyatt began trudging back, faster than before. Two yellow, beady little eyes peering out from the side of the fallen trash can caused him to freeze for a second before jogging even faster. He didn’t break his legs, did he? Without turning at all, he called to Alec, hoarsely, “Don’t kill me for this!” A moment later, he spoke to the shadow in parseltongue, “you bastard! Get over here, now!” Slowly but surely, a thin, long, green snake came out from behind the bin.

Alec turned around right away. And watched as Wyatt ran sort of ran back. What was he doing? And why did he have to do it now?! Couldn't he want till morning. Till broad daylight with the nosy neighbors. So if anything else happened, people would see. There would be witnesses and not a child's word against someone else's. He was going to get hurt more. And Alec wasn't going back to help him this time.

He could deal with it himself. If he just wanted to run off like that. Alec was tired. And again it didn't help that he thought his mind was going to explode with thoughts. Thoughts he couldn't organize or put away or anything like that because he was out here. Alec just wanted to leave.. Couldn't Wyatt just not..? It wasn't really asking much, was it..? The boy let out a small sigh. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

As Wyatt yelled or attempted to yell. "Don’t kill me for this!" Was he talking to Alec? Was he about to give Alec a reason to want to do so? What? This was so confusing. Wyatt was so confusing. Honestly, it may be better if Alec just left now. But if he left.. then what was the point of coming out here in the first place. Just stay.. At least till you can get Wyatt inside the house. From there you can breathe without feeling like there's a giant rock on your chest.

But right now the next question is, are you going after him or waiting? Alec's gaze steadied on Wyatt again as a snake slithered out from behind a trash can. What did that have to do with anything?! Wait.. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. OH. That was the snake from the other day. What was it doing behind the trash can? I mean sure there could have been mice there.

But what's the odds? And how did Wyatt know that the snake was there? As his brain went to thought from thought just leaving them there. He tried to focus on what was going on at that moment. There was still no obvious reason why Alec would want to kill him. Now leave him there was another thing.. But someone please tell Alec the reason. If it was just him walking off. Then Alec really didn't care. Except he may leave him behind. But still.

Perseus- the brat- simply replied, “I think we both know who’s really the bastard here.” Wyatt was… shocked. How could Perseus say such a mean (but true) thing about him? Wyatt turned and looked at Alec before he made up a reply. The boy didn’t even notice Wyatt’s parseltongue, which was… pretty good. He turned back to the snake. Not exactly knowing what else to say, Wyatt snapped, “Don’t talk about Alec like that, he’s been quite nice to me recently.” Perseus gave an angry little glare. “You know exactly who I’m talking about.”

Wyatt’s glare rivaled Perseus’s, and if it could kill, Perseus would be long gone by now. Still, even though he knew he could’ve won, Wyatt was not interested in having a staring contest with a snake right about now. “Maybe I told you off for being a stalker but you disappeared!” Even though it dawned on Wyatt pretty early that it was strange to have a staring contest with a snake, it took a little longer for him to register how odd it would be for Alec to watch a human vs snake shouting match. “You know what? I’m tired of this.” Wyatt walked back to Alec then.

The Slytherin cleared his throat, which hurt a little. When he caught up to Alec, he stood next to him for a bit, refusing to make eye contact and looking straight ahead. “That had to have looked a little strange.” And without another word, Wyatt just started walking at a normal pace in the direction of Alec’s house with his shirt balled up over the large cut on his arm. He barely cared if Alec noticed the parseltongue in the moment, he knew Alec probably wouldn’t tell, but if Alec didn’t hear it then, Wyatt wasn’t going to just say oh, and by the way, I can talk to snakes.
@Alec Mason

We could end it here, but it also makes sense to keep this going. Either way, we really need to figure out what they did with explaining Wyatt's injuries. We could say Alec just told his parents, but like you said, they might not let him go back to Hogwarts. Or we could just say Wyatt just stayed in Alec's bedroom for the rest of the summer so they would've have to explain anything? I dunno.
