If you have applied, and been approved for the ability Prodigal Charms Learner as one of your abilities in our Application for Specialty Races or Abilities, this makes you eligible to learn Charms spells one year ahead of your peers.

Once you have the ability in your trunk, the process of learning new spells goes as follows:

1. Create a new post in this thread. I will place a post here so that you all know what I mean.
Please create only 1 post per spell(s) to not clutter this thread unnecessarily. Think of this as if you are applying for multiple abilities at once. If you are learning more than one spell, please list the spell you are learning and then in a reducio, place your RP practicing and learning the spell.
EX: Engorgement Charm (Names have been altered to preserve anonymity)
Reducio
The engorgement and shrinking charms were versatile tools that any wizard ought to have in his arsenal. A book of charms which the student had selected from the library told him as much. However, they hadn't listed any examples of times when the charms could be useful or even practical. That didn't mean that there was no place for them, of course. It just meant that young wizards like the student had to get creative in order to apply their knowledge.

Another of the student's friend 's belongings was the test subject for this experiment. They lent themselves well to these study sessions, as Jake paid very little attention to the security of his trunk and was small enough to push over if he caught you with his things. This time, it was his second most prized possession. Just beneath Freddie the stuffed dog on the totem pole was his nightlight. A gift from the real Caradoc Browne, it sat - fully lit, mind you - at the young badger's bedside all through the night. Unfortunately, given the arrangement of beds, that meant the student had to lie down in the light and cover himself in blankets to shut it out. The nightlight made the student suffer - and Jake needed to earn that privilege.

The on-paper study of a charm is not particularly interesting - at least in the eyes of the student. Theory was an important part of practice, but it could only do so much for your application. It was the doing that helped the student learn. So he did as much as he could do, repeating the incantation to himself until he had each syllable ready at a moment's notice. He practiced the wand motions with his quill, observing demonstrations by bored second-year students who would oblige his requests for tutoring as well as diagrams in books that he could find in the library.

Finally, it came time to do the deed. It was late enough in the evening that the student's friend had set his nightlight up in its place beside the bed, the dim glow bothersome, but not insufferable. When the student's friend slipped out of the dorm for a final trip to the bathroom, the student struck. He pulled his wand out of the pocket of his pajamas and got to work.

"Engorgio," he said, his incantation escaping quietly as he tried to subtly increase the size of the nightlight. Subtlety became impossible the larger it grew - swelling up and up until it was the size of a lighthouse's lamp, with the glow to match. The student's roommates groaned at the sight of it, realizing that the little twerp was bothering them with his charms once again.

Sleep was impossible, but the other boys in the dorm came up with a simple solution to the issue - stealing all of George's blankets to drape over the light, subduing the radiant nightlight enough for them to get some shut-eye. The student slept in the cold, rising with determination to learn reducio before the day was out.

Spell 2: Shrinking Charm
Reducio
The sun was shining, the grass was green, and the student was shivering as he rose from his place in the bunk above the student's friend's bed. He had worn his socks and his warmest pajamas to compensate for the loss of his blankets, but it wasn't enough. To make it worse, the nightlight was still down there, like some gigantic blue-feathered dementor bringing out the memories of his past missteps. All was not lost. He had the books checked out of the library already - all he needed to do was take what he did and undo it.

The fundamentals of the spell were familiar to him, having just studied the engorgement charm the day prior. Making something small was just making it big in reverse. The incantation and wand movement were different, of course, but the way you had to arrange it in your head was much the same. They were yin and yang - they existed in relation to one another. An intuitive mind like the student's could latch onto the similarities and use them to coast easily through the differences. All it would take was a little application to make the knowledge stick.

The student pulled away the blanket from the top of the nightlight like a magician revealing his next trick, which, admittedly, was what he was. With a swish of his wand, he muttered the incantation - a few eager roommates watching, waiting for the incessant light to finally be snuffed out. "Reducio," he muttered. He kept his wand trained on the nightlight, focusing the spell until it was reduced to a more manageable size.

The student triumphantly returned his blankets to his bed, preparing himself for a good nights sleep in the hard-earned warmth of the sheets. The dorm room suddenly seemed much dimmer - it took a while for his eyes to adjust to a world with so little light. The badger burrow started to feel like it was some underground cave that they had crawled into rather than the comfy, bright room that Jake wanted it to be. It had only taken a day to adapt to the light - they would adjust to living without it easily enough.

The student's friend returned that evening, wondering what had been done with his upgraded nightlight - it seemed to have vanished from the floor where it had once stood like a sentinel, guarding him from bad dreams and scary monsters alike. Fortunately, the student had come up with a solution that could keep the student's friend safe wherever he went. With a proud smile, the young Hufflepuff opened up his fist to reveal the newly shrunk nightlight - now small enough to fit in the palm of his hand.

"Keychain!" he said, plucking the handle up with two fingers and giving it an enthusiastic shake.

Prodigal: Summoning Charm
And there he was again; if there was one thing that Zyk was most excited to come back to school for, it would be to practice the advanced level of charms that he was approved to do. Besides his other hobby of woodcarving, charms was something he was passionate about. This was ingrained into his being after first receiving the ivory-colored aspen wood wand from the wand shop in Diagon Alley, it was fate. For this reason, he had combed over the charms books in the library, practiced his wand movements in the evening in his dormitory, and repeated the annunciation of the incantations within his head at almost every waking moment. One of his dormmates even had woken him up one time, having not being able to sleep because Zykeal kept muttering incantations in his sleep.

Could he be any more obsessed? It was after lessons on Friday, three weeks into the school year had started when most students were out enjoying the beginning of their weekends when Zykeal would be diligently practicing his wand movements in the charms classroom. Once again, he was oblivious to anyone else that would be within the room, professor or other students alike. With the aspen wood wand outstretched in his dominant hand, he'd continuously draw the upper half of a circle in the air, practicing the movement of the summoning charm. The incantation was simple, it was concentration and dedication to wand precision that he was most concerned with at the time being.

Centered in the room, upon a table, sat a piece of Irish Oak that he had in his satchel that he had brought from his home country. It was to be used at a later date for his carving, but, for now, it was the perfect object for him to practice the summoning charm with. It was complete silence in his mind, despite if the room was active or not, he blotted out all things that weren't his focus; this was the resilience of his mind when it came to this specific subject, he adored it. After a moment though, those lids raised to reveal bright golden irises, sharp and determined, staring directly upon the piece of wood that lay a few meters away. With a raise of the wand he had possessed in his hand, he drew the shape in which he had practiced and the upper half of a circle was outlined within the air in front of him, "Accio," he calmed stated, pronouncing each syllable of the incantation as such, 'AH-kee-oh'.

It didn't surprise him that the piece of wood started to fly at him, what was a surprise though was the speed at which the piece of wood came. This did not startle him though, he was always prepared for such things and when the wood piece was flying directly at him, he steadied himself and braced for impact. Thinking the object would be directed at the channeler, no matter if they tried to step out of the way, he raised his free hand at center mass and awaited the impact of the wood within his palm. "Yooouch," he cried aloud for a moment as the wood made contact with him. Although he had successfully caught the piece, he dropped it just as quickly as the sting of the impact rippled through his being. Waving his hand around now, trying to shake out the sting of the hit, he stared down at the piece of wood that he had successfully summon and felt slightly annoyed at the situation.

Out of the ordinary for him, the practice session didn't go exactly as he wanted it to. Although he succeeded in casting the spell, he had in return underestimated the speed at which the object traveled. This was disconcerting to him and he wondered at the implications of such knowledge. Instead of giving up though, he leaned down and fetched the piece of wood once more. This time, he'd set the piece of wood at the end of the classroom and walk down towards the opposite end. There he would be, practicing the spell over and over, regardless of how hurt his hand would be from the impact of the wood. Obviously, he knew he could find a softer object to practice with, but, the boy was stubborn and utilized the penalties of the lesson to engrain the knowledge into his mind.

The dawn of yet another school year brought with it a fresh set of challenges which Callie was surprisingly willing to tackle head on. The summer had been difficult for the young girl and being forced to grapple the topic of the death of a loved one meant that for once she was more than keen to launch herself back into schoolwork. A shocking state of affairs but when your schooling came hand in hand with some degree of magic it was surprisingly easy to stay motivated, especially for a muggle-born like Callie. Even if it meant having to give up video games for a short while but sacrifices had to be made. For Callie being unable to tend to the island she’d so carefully curated over the summer was simply something she’d have to cope with. The bells and Tom Nook would have to wait, Hogwarts beckoned! Video games related anguish aside it didn’t take long at all for Callie to feel inadequate compared to her peers. Despite her good grades she couldn’t help but feel poor in comparison to her peers that had been born into magic. How could she expect to get better and help look after people if there was still so much to catch up on? The only solution was to get better, learn more and push herself even further ahead. The countless hours spent cooped up in the library simply weren’t enough – more had to be done! Such a belief coupled with a pre-existing love for charms was what had brought the young girl to the classroom before dinner, armed with a book she’d…borrowed from the common room. Hey, if she was going to return it afterward did it really count as theft?

As the autumn sun started to set Callie slipped into the empty classroom and sat herself down on a desk towards the back of the room. It didn’t take long for the young Ravenclaw to carefully set the leather-bound book down on the table followed by her cherry wood wand. A slight nervousness overtook Callie as she trailed her fingertips along the edge of her wand with her eyes locked firmly on the book. Was she good enough to even consider trying to get ahead in Charms? Callie held her doubts even if her grades within the subject were brilliant. She’d yet to grow confidence in her abilities and still hesitated when practicing spells in class despite being in her second year by now. It took Callie much longer than she’d ever be willing to admit to talk herself back into making an attempt but eventually she mustered the courage the crack open the book. Soon enough her fingers traced over the a charm that caught her eye, one that might be able to help people like Thomas and Elias who got injured so often. Ferula, the bandaging charm. It seemed simple enough to perform but Callie couldn’t quite shake the nervousness. “Fer-ROOL-Lah.” Callie spoke to the empty room as her eyes scanned the page. “Fer-ROO-Lah! Fer-Roop-Lah, no that’s not right..” She mumbled before repeating the phrase a couple of times to herself.

The etymology of the spell was much less interesting than its application, but the importance of such things had well and truly been drilled into Callie’s head by now. Even if she found the entire subject of etymology hopelessly boring and snooze worthy. Ferula meant rod in Latin which immediately struck her as quite odd. “How is a carrot even relevant to a bandaging char-oh!” Callie thought out loud as her eyes trailed the page. Perhaps it wasn’t so odd afterall and maybe just this once the etymology of the damned thing was somewhat interesting. Besides the thought of Romans calling a hollow rod used to fashion a splint after some carrots was worthy of at least one giggle. Strange names and their origins aside Callie eventually mustered the bravery to pick up her wand. Since there wasn’t exactly anyone present to practice on Callie found herself forced to make do and placed her forearm onto the table. Besides she severely doubted Thomas would’ve let her use him as a practice dummy anyway. “Ferula.” Callie spoke carefully and with surprising precision as she tapped her forearm with the tip of her wand. At first, she didn’t expect anything to happen, a consequence of her lurking self-doubt but it wasn’t long until she proved herself wrong. Soon enough bandages started wrapping around her forearm and a bright smile slopped onto her face. Perhaps she wasn’t as hopeless as she thought herself to be? Regardless of the apparent success Callie remained seated at the desk, continually repeating the process until it came time for dinner. Learning was important but so too was food.

*Maman = Mother
Santario walked into the charms classroom for her appointment with Professor Vernatis. She had been delighted to know that she would be allowed to prove that she knew spells a year above her, and so long as she could prove herself, Santario would be able to use them in practical application. She knew already in advance that she would need to tell him how and who had taught her this spell and then demonstrate her proficiency in performing the said spell. “Greetings, Professor Vernatis. I want to start by thanking you for allowing those of us who can cast at a higher level to demonstrate our skill. Secondly, I’ll just get started straight away with my story.” With that, she went on to tell him her tale.
Santario looked up as her mother’s singsong voice called her name up the stairs asking her to come down. “Okay, Maman!*” She slid her bookmark into place over a drawing of belladonna before closing the book on herbology and pushing herself off of her bed. “Bring your wand, please!” Her mother instructed as she looked around her room, which was full of her new school supplies. She swiftly grabbed the cherrywood wand from her end table and bolted down the stairs, wondering what her mother wanted to teach her today. Before today San had a stick that she had used to practice wand movements, and she remembered countless days where she practiced the incantations repeatedly.

As she got down the stairs, she was greeted by her father's deep baritone voice lilting with his Irish accent. “Hey, puddin’, ready to learn something?” Santario nodded eagerly as she approached her parents, smiling widely. “Yes, Papa!” Adrenaline pumped through her small frame as she started to shake with excitement. Santario’s mother patted the chair next to her, indicating that San should sit in it, and she did so. “Okay, I‘m going to show you the Bandaging Charm again. I know we’ve gone over it quite a few times, but now you have your wand, and while trying to cast magic you have not officially learned at school will get you in trouble, I want to have this at your disposal in case of an emergency.” Santario nodded as her mother explained. “What is the proper pronunciation of the Bandaging Charm?” “fer-ROOL-lah if the proper pronunciation.” “Good now, what do you do with your wand?” “You tap the intended target with it.” Santario’s father watched the two with a broad grin on his face as they went over the basics.

“Perfect, now finally, what is the most important thing to do while casting?” Santario took only a second to think before responding. “Concentration, too little and your spell could just fail or underperform and too much you could seriously damage someone else, yourself, or your wand.” Her mother nodded. “Okay, watch carefully now.” Santario watched as her mother tapped her father’s forearm and spoke the incantation with the skill of a head healer at St. Mungos. Bandages swiftly wrapped around her father’s arm. “Okay, San, it’s your turn now.”
And with her explanation finished, it was indeed her turn. She held her arm out, and with that same cherrywood wand, she tapped her arm. “Ferula.”

Even while isolating himself, Henry still wanted to learn and get ahead in his year as one of his brother's old spell book's was clutched his hand he kept a good paced as he managed to both read and walk. Henry almost passed the charms classroom as he was so much into his reading, something that he barely did anymore which actually made the twelve year old smile as he thought he was going back to his old self when in reality he was just getting worse. Not that Henry cared since at the moment he was able to move thoughts of his hidden life and family out of his mind got a minute so he could learn a spell and one that the boy has read about and was fascinated since he was six.

The summoning charm also know as accio or has it was pronounced AH-kee-oh was one of Henry's most favorite spells and ever since the boy first read about it when he was six or seven, he made a promised that when he got to Hogwarts he would learn it as soon as he could but sadly the spell was taught to the year above Henry's which was third. No matter this boy would learn it himself and just have to get ahead in his class like usual as he placed his messager type bag on a table before taking of his slytherin robes and throwing it on the table also. Henry quickly undid his tie as his shirt was already untucked before and if any professor would have saw him then they surely would have taken some house points for his uniform not being on correctly but lucky for him he was alone in the charms classroom as it was lunch and Henry chose to skip a meal to learn a spell.

Henry then quicky took his wand from his bag and held it up as he thought of the incantation in both latin and geek before he held his wand out to practice the spill's movement; as he moved his wand in the shape of a upper half circle and smiled as he did it correctly. Henry did pointed his wand out again and again moved his wand in a upper half circle before placing his wand on the desk and saying to himself "AH-kee-oh," which was the pronunciation for the spell; Accio but to ensure that he got it he decided to say it again, "AH-kee-oh."

Once Henry was sure he got the spell down, he then picked his wand up and walked to the other side of the classroom where then he pointed it at his messager type bag as he traced the moment with his wand which was a upper half circle and spoke "AH-kee-oh," and just like that his bag came zooming toward him and he had to take a step back as he caught it. Henry dropped the bag on the floor next to him and had a wide grin on his face as he actually did a spell or charm that he learn so much about and loved since he first learn about it.

Henry wanted some more practice so he pointed his wand at a book on a desk that Henry wasn't paying attention to see that it was on Professor Vernatis desk as he draw the upper half circle with his wand and shouted" Accio!" The book came zooming to him and again a wide grin as he caught it but this time he recognized that the book came from Professor Vernatis's desk as he hurried to put it back before picking up his bag and jogging back to his school robes in hoped that no one saw him.

Ileen stared at her wand and tried to clear her head. Even though it was her first week back at Hogwarts, a time when most students were still too excited to be back or simply too lazy to practice, she had returned to the Charms classroom this afternoon to put some extra work in her goal to become a healer.
Since her conversation with Professor Vernatis last year, she had decided to do everything she could to create her own name and attach it to something good. Encouraged through his kind words and his advice she had worked very hard the past year and read every book about healing, magic or Muggle related, that she had been able to find – all to define her own identity and life up to her dream. Her experience in the summer camp had shown her that there was still a long road ahead of her. She had encountered frighteningly many injuries, differently broken classmates, or mutilations and damages, which she could not understand until today.
This feeling of being powerless and useless, no matter how hard she had worked, had only intensified her ambition, even though she had been also slightly intimidated. The idea of fighting this violence and destruction as a second-year student seemed hopeless, but there was something else she had learned during the summer camp: Somewhere and somehow you had to start. You had to practice healing to become a healer. So, here she was – taking her first step.

With a deep inhale she raised her chestnut wand and faced her own arm which she would use as a practice object. She had read about that spell almost five months ago and now she was ready to give it a try. The Bandaging Charm wouldn’t heal a broken bone or fix anything, but it would at least stabilize the injury and ease the pain, if properly performed. The young Slytherin frowned and closed her eyes to recall the correct incantation. Ferula. Fer-ROOL-lah.
Determined, she opened her eyes again. She had practiced the unfamiliar incantation many times during the summer to get used to the words and their sound, the feeling of speaking them out loud. Her heart was pounding in her chest and the young girl grasped her wand more firmly. Now she could finally prove that she was really serious and was working to make something better out of her life. It wasn't difficult, all she had to do was tap her arm and recite the incantation.
She was just so nervous because this felt like a milestone that would determine whether or not she would ever reach her goal. But she had to do it. Now. Concentrated, she tapped her own arm with her wand. “Fer-ROOL-lah.
Her voice was clearer and calmer than she had expected, and a relieved smile curled her lips when she saw the bandage, that she had conjured, wrapping around her arm. Then it was set. She could do this after all.

How foolish it was, to keep running about, forgetting your things when you get out of the common room to your next class, too lazy to go and run to fetch it again. But May had an answer. Like always. So she runned to the only secure place, where nobody would go and yell at her, not after what happened in Summer camp, the day she slapped her 'best friend' if she could call her that, for the girl hadn't talked to her for what-? A year maybe? Well, that place was called library, a place where only the school books and quills and ink could keep her company.

The small Hufflepuff rummaged into her flamingo patterned bag and, after a long time of searching, found the Charms book Y3. Finally, May thought. At last I can open you up.

May always had her nose into a Charms book, even if she couldn't do magic over the summer, for it was, well, illegal, or against the school rules. Plus, her parents were Muggles, and she couldn't do magic in front of them or with them, so it would be impossible for the girl to find a way to learn new spells if she couldn't practice them.

But this year, May hadn't been able to open her book, for she had been too busy, at her friend Charlie Woodward's or her Grand-mère asking her to wash the dishes after her three afternoon tea's with her old 70-80 year old lady friends.

So with all of this drama going about, May hadn't been able to open her new Charm's book, but, never mind that now. The girl had been practically skating through the corridors until she arrived at the big book filled library.

There, she opened the book, and opened it up to the Accio spell. Accio. What a peculiar spell.
Maybe that would be May's new favorite spell. But since May didn't know how to do the spell yet, she still had to stick with Expelliarmus, even if it was not a Charms class spell.

Now, it was time for the magic to begin. May took out her black walnut wand and as she gave it a flick in a curved motion, while she said the incantation: "Accio!". May had been pretty firm, but the quill she was trying to summon didn't move. Frustrated, the Hufflepuff tried again.
"Accio!" slowly, but steadily, the quill began to raise from the table, and flew into the Hufflepuff's hands. May smiled, and began to practice another spell.

Illowy scurried her way to the charms classroom, more then excited to be able to finally be able to display what she'd managed to learn over the summer. She'd made a list at the beginning of the summer of all the spells she'd wanted to study and practice, and now was finally her chance to put what she'd learned to good use. Today, she was determined to successfully cast bombarda. Granted, this had been one of the harder charms for her to try to master, especially since she wasn't able to get decent practice at home since they couldn't use magic outside of school, but something was better then nothing and she was confident in applying her hard work to action.

Her cousin teased her about how she constantly seemed to be studying, preferring to coop herself up inside during the summer with her reading as opposed to doing whatever "normal" kids did over the summer. The way she'd seen it, what better way to spend her time then try to catch an edge in school when she had nothing but time to do so? The girl was constantly pushing herself and striving to master new and advanced spells; especially with her determination to get on the dueling team this year, she wanted to have as many spells under her belt as possible. Illowy wanted to make a name for herself in dueling, to be known for her skill and talent for casting... and also it wouldn't hurt to give her mother a reason to find pride her in her again. Bringing home a dueling trophy certain would be a nice offering.

Coming into the classroom, the girl took no hesitation to toss her bag onto one of the empty desks, retrieving from it her charms textbook and her wand. Easily, she flipped to the marked page for the spell, going back over it's movement and incantation once more to be sure she wouldn't make any mistakes. Once secure in her knowledge, she made her way to the front of the classroom, setting up one of the practice dummies for such a spell. After all, it was better to blow up a dummy made for such practice then something that might actually be important.

The snake took in a deep breath, calming her nerves and honing her focus as she ran through the spell once more in her mind. This was definitely not a spell she wanted to mess up. Not one bit.

Taking her stance, Illowy narrowed her focus on the target dummy. Lifting her wand with grace and confidence, she traced it's tip through the air in a triangular motion, "bom-BAR-da!" she recited, nearly holding her breath as a small explosion burst from her wand and hit the dummy square on in the chest with a loud blast.

Certainly not the most subtle charm by any means, but quite effective, she thought to herself proudly.

Spell | Episkey (Minor Healing Charm)
Incantation | eh-PIS-kee
Wand Movement | right to left diagonal line

The day had been perfect for spending her free period outside to study. The sun had been high, the cool air was just warm enough for one to be able to sit comfortable with just a light sweater on; and that was exactly how she liked her weather. While she'd been studying, her cat Killian had gotten on to his own playful activities, stalking butterflies and small critters while his mistress did her work, trusting him to stay out of trouble. Her attention was only called to him when he yowled and hurried back to his mistress, throwing himself dramatically into her lap. Naturally she'd checked him over, but didn't notice anything right away. She then had packed up her things in her bag, gathered the startled mass of fur in her arms and moved on to her Charms Class.

It hadn't been until she'd sat down for class that she'd noticed how her beloved cat was licking at the pad of his paw; though not in his usual way like when he was cleaning himself, "Let me see." she cooed, situating the cat in her lap to have a good hold on him while she examined his foot. Moving away his fur, she was able to catch a glimpse of a bee stinger, "How many times have I told you not to stalk bees, you silly cat?" she scolded gently.

Then, a realization popped into her mind. As unfortunate as it was for her poor cat, it made for the perfect opportunity to utilize the latest spell she'd been working on. Illowy sat the cat atop her desk, "Stay." she commanded softly as she reached into her bag for her wand. Tool positioned in her dominant left hand, she took the reluctant kitty's injured paw in her right, hoping he'd hold still long enough for her to properly use the spell.

" eh-PIS-kee.... eh-PIS-kee..." she quietly rehearsed for a moment, wanting to ensure she had the proper inflection before actually preforming the spell, "Alright, Killian. Just stay still." she instructed, hoping he understood as she poised her wand, giving a practiced trace of her wand through the air in a right to left diagonal line, "eh-PIS-kee." she spoke, keeping her voice confident. In a flash the bee stinger pulled itself out, causing the feline to flinch and yowl once more as it pulled it's paw away from his mistress; but in moments seemed perfectly back to himself as he licked at his paw once more, realizing the stinger was gone. All the same, the poor thing seemed quite fed up as he hopped down from the desktop and curled himself up under her chair, "It had to happen some time, Kiki Kitty." she tried to reassure in the baby voice reserved only for him, bending a bit to stroke the only semi traumatized animal, "Better out then in."
Approved

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

Santario took a deep breath as she looked around at the set up in various spots: empty bottles of pumpkin juice lined up in desks, gradually moving to larger targets of jugs, and finally, a test dummy. This was very similar to the set up that she had used at home to practice under her grandfather's guidance. Strictly practicing the wand movement repeatedly and then a repeat but the incantation with no wand movement. She had to be flawless in execution as before she would go back to school, it would be her grandmother who would test her, and while she still would have to perform in front of Professor Vernatis, her grandmother was far more intimidating. Santario’s grandmother, after learning that Santario planned on going for a Duelling captain position, had been insistent that the girl be no less than flawless in her proficient subject before returning to school.

So walking into his classroom today, she was confident enough, to say the least. “Thank you again for allowing me to come and prove my skill to you, today, professor.” She set her book bag down on a seat and removed her cherrywood wand before turning to face her first target. Taking in a deep breath and releasing it slowly, she raised her wand and twirled it through the air “VEN-tuss” a Jet of spiraling wind emitted from the tip of her wand straight into the first bottle, but it was not as strong as she had produced before. It caused the bottle to wobble and eventually fall over from lack of balance and not from the charm itself.

Santario cleared her throat. “Sorry, I’ve done better. Let’s do that again.” This time, Santario closed her eyes for a moment, focusing correctly instead of coming in more arrogant than she should have. When she opened her eyes, she pointed her wand towards the second target. “Ventus!” She spoke with more conviction, and holding her concentration better, a strong spiraled wind emitted from the tip of her wand knocking over the second bottle effortlessly.

Santario would continue through the last bottle and the three jugs that awaited her, finally standing before the practice dummy now. Her goal was to cast strongly enough that it could push the dummy backward. Santario leveled her wand at the training dummy, but instead of the training dummy, she saw other faces, faces of people she would rather be casting on. With a flourished twirl of the wand. “VENTUS!” She exclaimed, and the wind erupted from her wand, shoving the training dummy backward.

Approved. Try not to be violent toward your classmates, Miss Martin. Even if they do deserve it.

Zykeal could have considered this specific classroom to be one of his favorite places in all of the castle if one counted how much time he spent practicing his spellwork in the subject of charms, but, he missed the cool breeze of the afternoon winds that blew through the courtyards of the castle and surrounded the great lake outside of the castle walls. There was a wish he had, that, he could actually bring the classroom outside somehow, or, bring the outside into the classroom. With this thought in mind, as he sat there on top of one of the desks of the nearly empty classroom, tapping his ivory-colored aspen wood wand upon the side of his temple, that the idea struck him of spell he was practicing as of lately.

As per usual, he didn't care who was around him or if the professor was even present. No one helped Zykeal learn magic more than himself as of lately; this was how he liked to do things anyways. Having his wand out, his tick needing to be fulfilled constantly, he'd continue to spin his wand throughout his fingers like a drumstick for the time being. The idea of the winds came to him in a rushing fashion, having read text on the different uses of the spell he was contemplating at the moment, he figured that he could at least aim the spell towards the upper sides of the classroom walls and try to make a fun little wind storm.

With the thought in mind, the wand would suddenly stop rotating within his fingers and he let the hilt of the wand settle with ease into the palm of his hand. Fingers clasped over the wood hilt in his own fashion and the boy closed his eyes for a minute, clearing his mind of any distractions and mentally recounting the correct pronunciation of the incantation. After a long minute passed by, his lids slowly rose to reveal those stark golden irises, laser-focused on the task at hand. Slowly, he raised the arm that held the wand within his hand and started to drawl a swirl that twirled through the air in up and in front of him. Aiming towards the original target he had thought of, where the walls met the ceiling of the classroom.

"Ventus," he said, calmly, casually almost. (Pronunciation of incantation: "VEN-tuss")

It was typical for the boy to succeed on the first try of his charm-work, he put the work in, the problem was, he always seemed to produce stronger spells than was necessary. The young second-year didn't know that well how to control the amount of his power that the combination of his wand and himself produced. The swirling wind vortex that streaked out from his wand towards the ceiling to start and circle the room, picking up loose books and debris that caused more of a mess than Zykeal was expecting it to.

"That's not good," he said, lowering his wand to cut off the stream of wind that flowed from the tip of his wand.

After the spell was cut off, he watched as the wind started to die down and he had started to dodge the falling books. A few loose books did end up thwacking him in the shoulder and on his back as he ducked around causing him to let out a few, "oofs" and whatnot. Although his spell was successful, it was too successful, he supposed, and he couldn't contain his jovial laughter at the thought of being able to use the spell in future duels that the school would be hosting. With a real smile, even though he had gotten battered, and after the spell had fully died out, he'd raise up once more and survey the room that was in a mess.

"Guess it's time to clean up," he mumbled. As he did so, he kept going over the incantation in his mind and the wand movement that was necessary to cast the spell.

Approved. I do hope that you didn't just destroy my classroom.
