Dear Ian,

I'm sure that after reading the name on the envelope, you've put together that I got your letters. They were sent to me in the post by a stranger and... I really don't know how I feel about it.

I can't help but feel confused as to what to say to you. Don't get it the wrong way, I'm not a purist that cares that you're a muggle and I'm definitely not mad at you for reaching out. In fact, hearing that I've never been their biological child has given me a strange sense of relief that I haven't had in a long time. I've never felt like part of the family. It makes more sense, now, how they've never felt as attached to me as they are to my sisters. It's almost freeing, in a way.

At the same time, it's deeply upsetting and I've not been okay since. I'm sure that you can probably understand why.

I know that my parents have stayed hush about the entire thing, and I doubt that you know much about me, so here are a few things. Not all of them are serious, but at least it will give you an overview of what I'm like.

FIVE THINGS ABOUT ME

1) I'm almost 13, and my birthday is on the 18th of December. Not sure if you know that or not.
2) I have five sisters, and I'm the youngest. Two of them are nice, but the other three are... not so much.
3) Herbology and Potions are my favourite subjects at school. Plants are fascinating, especially those with interesting properties. I dunno what I'm going to do with it. Maybe I'll work at St. Mungo's someday and make myself useful.
3) I'm not a Quidditch superfan, but the Wigtown Wanderers would have to be my favorite team. (Sorry if you hate that team. A friend and I always bicker about it.)
4) I love comics, especially graphic novels. The wizarding type are the best because the pictures move, but I've read a few muggle comics too.
5) Drawing is also very fun. I've gotten pretty good at it, which makes me very proud.

I noticed that the last letter that you stopped writing around May, so I'm not sure if it's too late to write back. I don't know if you actually want to talk to me or not at this point, and if you've changed your mind, that's okay. I'm not expecting a thing from you. In fact, I'm writing you to let you know that I am okay. Despite never getting a lot of attention, I grew up alright. My parents have a lot of money, so it's not like I've ever been at risk of going hungry or cold. You can be rest assured that I'm safe here, regardless of whatever decision you make.

If you do want to talk, though, I'll be really happy to hear from you. In fact, if you have some time, could you tell me some things about you too? Nothing too serious, if you don't want to reveal much straight away. I know that we're strangers, after all.
