Third times the ride, third times the year, thirteen-year-old Alan was ready to start this school year anew as he believed the third time was the charm. Alan packed his trunk the night before. Alan had always felt a bittersweet moment going to platform nine and three quarters as yes he was going to learn new things and see his best friend, Griseldis. Still, at the same time, the young lad will be missing his family, especially his Nan, where age was finally starting to catch up with her. Worried arriving at Kings Cross happened so fast, one moment he was at Nan's bakery grabbing some snacks and taking her to the station with him along with his Mother Alison and reluctantly his Father Frederick.

Ever since the divorce, both parents agreed to at least see their son off. Alan had personally felt responsible for it, wondering if there was something he could do to fix it which painfully made him isolate himself away near the end of his second year. At Kings Cross, it was bustling, as usual, students running through the magic barrier and dropping their trunks for it to be loaded. Alan, his Mother, Father and Nan trailed behind watching their son look around for his friends, especially Gris who had always been there for him when he needed it.

Nan decided to catch up with her grandson avoiding the bickering parents who just couldn't help themselves in public. Despite sporting a walking stick, Nan managed to hobble her way and had her arm around Alan. "So third year, what classes yer thinking of taken Al?" Nan said, helping her the young lad take his mind off knowing the boy was overthinking and worried again. Alan thought for a moment "I do like the look of Care for Magical Creatures, oh oh and Divination it always fascinated me" Nan resisted to urge to scoff as the old lady believed Divination was a load of rubbish. "Oh that's excellent, I remember taking Magical Creatures myself, so many fascinating creatures." Nan put on her best smile for Alan, knowing him more than the bickering messes that were his parents, especially her son Frederick who then suddenly appeared steamed an annoyed.

Alans Father kneeled down and hugged his son "Take care, Al, write when you can yeah? We're always here unlike some people" He beamed a look at Alison who had her jaw dropped. "Just go to work Freddy, or you'll be late to see yer mistress." Alison barked as he walked through the magic barrier and disappeared. Nan frowned rubbing Alan's shoulder who didn't know what to feel right now though his Nan always seemed to cheer calm him "S-s-so you think I'll see a d-dragon in class Nan?" Alan attempted to change the subject to which her frown changed to a grin as she chuckled "Oh, who knows, that school these days has secrets even I still try to figure out."

Nan looked over towards a girl around Alan's age with her trademark bun buns pointing her out "Is that your girlfriend Al? what don't you go say hello, I'll check on your mum." Alan's eyes lit up as he saw his best friend from a distance which he had to admit, looked nice today as he thought "Was Gris always this pretty?" Shaking his head Alan said "Stop it Nan we're just friends!?" His embarrassed yell could be heard from where Gris is standing as he nervously waved at his soon to be fellow third-year.
