Amelia McCarthy | First Year | Slytherin

Amy is an 11 year old girl, with short, red hair that ends at her chin and green eyes. She is short for her age, at 4’3” or 130cm tall and has an athletic build, weighing 65lbs. She has pale skin, and lots of freckles. She prefers wearing jeans, a T-shirt, and converse, when she is not in her school uniform.

Amy is very insecure about herself. She is afraid of her powers, and nervous about meeting new people. She really wants everyone to like her.

Amy acts like a rambunctious tomboy. She is very energetic, and likes to stay active. However, if she thinks someone is treating her poorly, she is quick to anger and can be very hot headed and fierce.

Amy grew up on her grandparents farm in rural Ireland. Her mom had her when she was just 18, and Amy never knew her father. Occasionally her mother would tell her stories about how amazing and larger than life he was. He impressed her with things she never thought were possible. Other times she bitterly complained about how he disappeared without so much of a word, before he even knew she was pregnant.

Her mom got remarried when Amy was 5, and she had another baby soon after. Amy’s step father never treated her badly, but both parents showed favoritism towards the newborn, Amy’s little sister, Sophie. Amy started to feel like she didn’t belong to her own family.

One day, when Amy was 8, some of the bully’s attempted to ambush her, and Amy’s magic went haywire. Amy couldn’t explain it, but the grass around her caught fire, burning one of the boys, but not harming Amy. Soon after some strange men from the Ministry appeared. They healed all of the bully’s injuries, and erased their memories. They told Amy that she was special and didn’t do anything wrong, but that she needed to control her emotions and keep what happened a secret.

After that, the Amy tried to stay away from both the bullies, and the other students, so she wouldn’t hurt anyone else. Amy started feeling alone at home and at school.

Once she got her letter from Hogwarts, delivered by a professor, she was ecstatic. She would learn to control her weird abilities, and finally get to leave the boring small farm. Maybe she’d finally make a friend that wouldn’t run away from her. Her parents were supportive, and her mom encouraged her to follow in her father’s footsteps. He must have been able to do the incredible things he did because he was a wizard. She did warn, not to follow to closely, and remember her family is always here for her.
