Rose needed to calm down.
This morning had brought yet another owl from Jessica, Rose's little sister, who was still not at Hogwarts yet, saying she hadn't seen their mother in a month. A month! This was really getting out of hand. A week was bad, but this was four weeks. Just thinking of Jess, home alone, made her want to throw up, made her want to scream at her mom, made her want to... change it somehow. So she had owled her mom.
Even worse, she had recently gotten detention for something she didn't do, which was preposterous and made Rose stressed- she was a good child! How was she supposed to get a good job with her permanent record like this?!
Anyway, the owl had said-
Mom,

I got detention- but it was for something I didn't do! I swear, I had nothing to do with it, I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time!

Also, you need to spend more time with Jess- she says she hasn't seen a glimpse of you in a month! Please talk to her, spend time with her, this is not okay.

Much love,
Rose
And even more infuriating, her mother had written back-
Rose-
I thought I could count on you to not get detention, but aparently not. Please refrain from doing those things again.
What. How dare she?! Rose clutched the letter in her hands, it was wrinkled up a lot. It had looked like her mom hadn't even bothered to read anything but the first sentence of her letter, and, even worse, hadn't even bothered to finish her own letter back to Rose.
Oh, Rose was maaad. If her mom was going to ignore her, fine, Rose would ignore her. She wouldn't write back, no matter what it was about, until she got an acceptable apology from her mother and a letter from Jess confirming she was getting her act together.
But then a thought bubbled up-what if her mom was under a lot of stress and she just... couldn't?
No.
She still shouldn't be neglecting her children.
So Rose was here, sitting in one of the seats, watching the Quidditch players practice. Watching the sunset. Trying to stop the furious thoughts in her head. She was here.
Funny thing, Rose often meets people when she watches the players practice. Could be important people, could be people she would never see again. Either way, it was apparently a pretty popular place.
I'm sorry, I did get a little carried away... Feel free to enter in any way you want! :D

A few seats away, a boy sat, he seemed strangely young, younger than the rest of the people sitting near him, in fact, he probably was from first year, and a hufflepuff judging by his clothing, he was alone, holding a book in his hands, as he watched the players practice, there was nothing that stood out specifically about the boy, except for his ginger hair, and green eyes, which would only leave a thought in the mind of whoever stared at them: 'Eye catching'.

The boy would flip through the pages of his book, and stop for a few seconds, then kept watching the practice, and repeated the same action a few times after, this was a little strange, yet curious, what was a first year doing, reading a book in the middle of quidditch practice, on his own?

He seemed calm, but judging by the place he was sitting at, he was probably avoiding people and feeling very awkward, after all, nobody sits that far in the back, the boy looked around for a few seconds, making sure, in a subtle way, the there wasn't anyone staring at him, after repeating the same action again, he putted the book away, and simply watched the practice, usually, no one would keep looking back at him, but if you are good enough catching details, you'd notice that he was pressing his teeth togheter, and fidgetting with his fingers, he was probably quite stressed.

A few seconds later, he said a few words under his breath:

''Stay calm-''

Rose needed to stop thinking about this. She needed to think about something else, she needed to have something that took up all of her focus, so she didn't have to think about this dilemma with her sister and her stupid, stupid mother.
There was another guy in the stands- Rose didn't know him.
How awkward would it be for her to approach him? She would look so desperate for friends, and maybe he needed time by himself. Rose tried not to look at him, stare at him, but she stole a couple glances in his direction.
She would look so painfully awkward if she went over there, , so weird. And was it cruel to use him as a distraction? Wasn't that something... villains did?
Rose almost didn't.
But she hauled herself up from the seat and made her way over to him.
A cramp tightened in her stomach. Her voice was soft and gentle, innocent, as she caught his attention. "Hi- I'm Rose." Oh gosh, this was awkward. How to say this without looking like a stammering idiot? "Um, I hope you don't mind me being here, would it be alright with you if I..." she blushed, clearly embarrassed at herself and her awkwardness, and amended her stammering question- "Is it okay if I sit with you?" This was going not as well as planned. Her voice carried an American accent as she talked, something that would probably come up later in their (possible) conversation.
She also noticed how stressed he looked, he seemed like there was something on his mind. Maybe Rose would be his distraction. Or maybe she was just being rude and disturbing him when he wanted to relax, not wanting a strange, blabbing redhead girl to barge in.
She restrained herself from asking if he was okay.

The boy darted his eyes to her direction, as he played with his hair in silence while listening to her, he thought her question was strange, since really, he has not talked to any students from the Second year, yet, he was unable to answer in a negative way.

''Hey- uh, I don't mind at all, please- have a seat-'' His voice was weak, almost like a whisper, it was gentle and shy, as if he really did not know what to answer, the idea of her trying to be rude did not even go through his mind, yet, he still believes this situation is very awkward, maybe she was just lonely, maybe she just felt the need to talk to someone, Aldor didn't quite understand, but couldn't help but try and keep conversating.

''I'm- Aldor Humbleglow-'' He would say, taking a shaky deep breath, ''May I- ask what is your name?-''

He would keep a smile on the outside, but deep inside he feels like a storm just started, why did he ask that? What if she did not simply want to talk and she just wanted to sit there? Is this really going to end as bad as Aldor thought? All this ideas would slowly crumble, as he locked his eyes onto hers, she was. . . really pretty. Aldor would remain silent, waiting for answer, although, he can't look away, it was almost like a spell that caught him, as a strange feeling ran down through his spine.

Rose smiled warmly at him as she sat down. "Thank you," she answered warmly. She had the strange feeling that he was haunted by the same kind of demons she was. Sometimes she hated that she could do that- see how others were feeling just by looking at them, just by observing them. That she could pick up if they were lying or telling the truth by a stiff jaw or a look in their eye, if they weren't feeling so good, even if they tried to hide it.
And sometimes she felt bad for asking them if they were okay, because that either forced them to lie or tell her- and she didn't need to know everything about someone's life.
She sat down next to him, trying to calm her whirling mind. This guy seemed really nice, and quite shy, as if he really didn't mind her sitting with him.
So, no. She did not ask how he was doing. And she did not ask if he was okay.
Aldor. She hadn't heard a name quite like that one before. "That's a very unique name." she commented, her warm smile lingering. Then, just to clarify, she added, "In a really good way."
She had already said her first name, right after her hi, but Aldor still didn't know her last name. "Of course- It's Rose- Rose Moon."
Rose. Rose Moon. That's how she always introduced herself. Because she prefered for people to use her first name, but that first name was quite popular, more popular than something cool like Aldor. She felt like if you only used people's last names, it was very cold-nature.
Rose only let a couple beats of silence pass before saying, "What brings you here?" she asked, averting her gaze away from him and back to watch the practice, her eyes tracing the moves and storing it as precious information. She hoped he didn't mind talking- he had kind of started the conversation. Maybe he liked Quidditch, maybe he needed to think, maybe he was stalking someone... that last one was not as likely as the other ones. He was most definitely not stalking anyone.
Moving on. "Are you planning on being on the team?"
Yeah, this Aldor was clearly stressed about something. Rose didn't know what, but she hoped she could avert his mind from it, at least for a little while... unless she was the one stressing him out?
"I'm a Gryffindor and this is my second year at Hogwarts," she commented. He might as well know. She hadn't seen him around, and he didn't look old enough to be a second year.
Oh, right! He had been sorted this year. She remembered his last name-Humbleglow. It was a cool name. "You're a first year, right?"

Aldor smiled, he usually does not get compliments from people, this made him feel less stressed, although, it was still quite awkward. Then, she told him her name, this was a little strange, he usually never gets this far into a conversation.

''That's a nice name too-'' He said, he seemed honest, yet, he seems to be struggling to find a way to keep this conversation going. After a bit of silence she asked what brought him here, he was about to answer, when she asked if she was planning to join the team.

''N-o, actually, I just enjoy watching the team play, I've never been interested in playing any sort of sport-'' He was about to keep talking until fear and dread started filling his chest, she was from Gryffindor, Aldor was actually quite known through the different houses, not for good reasons, he is 'The Bookworm', the weird kid who is always reading by the lake, or quietly sitting at the corner of the common room. He'd hold his hands togheter, his smile faded slighty, as he prepared for the worst.

''Yeah I'm- from first year-'' He would shiver slightly, as he took courage to ask a question. ''So- Did- someone send you?- Maybe someone from- Hufflepuff or- Gryffindor, I mean- maybe no one did and you- decided to come by on your own-''

He'd take a shaky breath, and kept talking. ''I don't- mean to offend you, or missinterprete your intentions- I just- I'm a bit paranoic about- well anyone who walks up to me-'' He would cover his eyes with his hand, staying quite for a bit.

Regarding him saying he wasn't too interested in sports, Rose replied, "That's cool, too. I'm usually not that interested in sports," Rose confessed. "But..." a daydream overtook Rose for no more than a couple seconds. She imagined herself- "Up in the air, on a broomstick faster than lighting, flying around, catching the snitch..." Rose snapped herself away from the daydream before she started rambling- nobody to hear Rose ramble.
Trust me.
"Sorry, I can get carried away..." Rose's freckled cheeks flushed a slight pink. "I would just love to play Quidditch."
She tucked her hands under her thighs and leaned away from the back of the seat and toward the rail, her movement parallel with Ardor. Her eyes traced the Quidditch players, yet she was still listening and processing his words, that much was clear.
"I'm not offended, don't worry. Nobody sent me, I came over here because you seemed nice and I needed a distraction from..." she paused.
Oh, right. Her mom. Jess.
Rose started wishing she hadn't said that last word. "Something." Aldor didn't need to know about her family.
A small smile reached her lips. So he was like her- awkward and anxious, worried about everything they said and about everything everyone else said. Not that was a good thing, but now she knew that she wasn't the only one this bad.
"You don't need to be paranoid- that happens to me all the time, though," Rose murmured, glancing to him to check on his expression. He was holding a hand over his eyes.
There were three beats, only three beats of silence. Since she had been reminded of the thing she had almost forgotten, she started up the conversation.
"So how do you like Hogwarts so far? I mean, it hasn't been super long, but what is your first impression?" Rose hoped this wouldn't spring up more anxiety in him. "Like, off the top of your head."

He felt relieved, although he is not fully confident on whether she is actually being honest, but he preffers to remain positive, trying not to break out of pure fear.

Then she asked what his thoughts on Hogwarts were, he would play with his hair thinking, there's many things he likes about Hogwarts, everything was actually really wonderful.

''Well, there is- many books in the library, and- the lake is- probably my second favorite place in the grounds-'' He would pause for a moment, trying not to run away. ''And classes- are not bad, I mean, everything seems alright so far- maybe the only thing I dislike is- how most of the rooms and halls are always filled with people-''

He would let out a soft smile, as he chuckled quietly,

''Maybe that is why I lake so much- It is actually- empty most of the time and- I can just, feel calm you know?-'' He would hold the book in his hands with a stronger grip, as a letter seemed to slide out of it gently.

Aldor would not pay much attention to it, only of the corners was showing, but it was still pretty obvious, maybe asking what it is would not be a bad idea, after all, he has answered every single one of the questions before in a very sincere way.

"I like the library too," Rose admitted, when he paused. Sometimes, it felt like every sound you made was excruciatingly amplified, but once you got to reading, you could get lost in a book- oh, that feeling she loved so much, being lost in fake problems and adventures, escaping from her own life for just a little while, to escape from the real world for a little while. To read books where their problems ended at the end of the book, even though Rose's problems would follow her until she passed.
Rose's eyes lit up at his mention of the lake- "Yes, the lake is my favorite place to be. I love how naturalistic and peaceful it is there. It lets you think, get away from everyone." Rose felt like introverts were very unappreciated in their modern world, and her favorite place to be was the lake, where time seemed to stand still. Where you could watch the ripples of the lake and wonder what was under there, and gather your thoughts.
"What are you reading?" Rose broke the silence again, asking him yet another question, this time directed at the book in his lap she had spotted. "And what's that... coming out of it?" A little... piece of paper? was sliding out of his book and Rose didn't really want it to fall on the floor and get dirty, especially if it was important.

Aldor would seem happy about her answers, everything seems happy, until she asked what the papper coming out of the book was, he would smile softly, a little embarassed, as he took the letter out, and replied to her question of what the book was.

''Oh it's- a book about quidditch, My- My aunt helped to write a big part of the book itself, she was a very good player when she was younger and when she became and adult started working as a writer, the book is not that famous as some of Hogwarts best titles but- I really like this one-'' He would smile softly as he slowly opened the letter and stared at it for a few seconds, he seemed nostalgic, but he was happy, maybe it was actually something really important.

''It's- a letter from my aunt, she is just- asking how I am and wishing me the best in Hogwarts-'' He would chuckle quietly, as he kept quietly.

''She is a really nice person- And she is a- Ridicolously great baker, she makes a mean pumpkin pie, like no one else can-''

He would smile softly as he played with his hair. ''She moved from being a quidditch player, to a writer and now a baker, she is- really productive-'' He would clear his throat, and read the letter for her.

''Oh little star, far from home, don't feel alone when it is all cold, shine through the darkness that hides within, don't let a sad moment crumble your smile, keep going even when it seems hard, fight your way through this mist of confusion, keep your eyes open, because even when the ocean blocks your way, you'll find a friend or two, to help you walk through- ''

He would smile once more, and looked back up at her, blushing slightly, it was pretty obvious that his aunt really cares for him, and he also cares about her.
