Can I Sit Here? PV Riley Arcite Closed

It was another September day at the library for little Jo. She was still looking for her friend Charles, her friend Adohiro had left Hogwarts so she didn't really have the urge to invite somebody to come to the Library with her. I mean who to invite? Almost all the interactions she had were washed away by the load of homework Jo surprisingly got through quickly, yet she Came to the library once more. She never knew why was it to research her Great-Great-Grandmothers heritage and find out if she was related to somebody in this school? By the looks of it, she shared some great-great-great-great-great-Grandmother of Grandfather with practically every pure-blood student in this school. But This didn't matter, she needed to know more than ever about the magical world, past what her Great-Great-grandmother told her. The stories that her Great-Great-grandmother told her had slipped away only shambles left of what was once a magical and adventurous story. She sighed, the prep room was unusually crowded, it was odd because she thought everybody would be in their dorms studying completing homework. There was only one seat left and Jo's hands were starting to throb because as she went into the library she picked up a lot of history books as big as her head and heavy enough for her to fall over for if she didn't concentrate. She walked up to what seemed to Be a short-haired girl in round glasses. "Can I sit here?" she asked looking at the girl.

Riley had been focusing on learning more about her new school and the wizarding world when she wasn't busy with homework. Her life had changed so quickly. She wanted to know everything she possibly could about this new life.

There was no way any of this could be real. It's what she kept telling herself, even though she didn't believe herself. She was always one to believe in magic, and that places like this were real. She just never thought she'd be able to go to one.

She was focusing hard on her history homework, trying to understand what the book was telling her. It was kind of an endless process. Scribble some things on the paper, read, read, read, scribble, read, scribble, scratch, scribble, read. It was very boring, to be honest. It was a lot more fun when she was able to read freely and at her own pace, and not have to scribble or scratch something every three seconds. But if she wanted to become a real witch, she needed to get good grades in her classes, no matter how boring they are.

She was in the middle of reading when she heard a voice.
"Can I sit here?"
Riley, not expecting anyone to talk to her jumped, and then looked at the girl who had spoken.
"Huh? Are you talking to me? Wait, no who else would you be talking to? Yeah, go ahead and sit down. I promise I don't bite" She laughed a little bit and smiled at the girl.

The jumpiness of the girl that smiled at her pointed her eyes straight at her book, she glanced at the page. Yikes Jo thought. She had just finished her own homework and thought it not hard, the muggle school she attended was incredibly hard to understand and its concepts, Hogwarts felt like a breeze now. She dropped the books that she was holding onto the table and there was a loud THUMP! in the prep room. She started massaging her hands as she took a seat next to the girl and smiled.

"Need Help?" she offered looking at the piece of parchment, you couldn't read a thing, and the paper was getting crumpled up with how much it was yanked pulled and written on. The girl seemed like she really needed help with it, I mean if her muggle school years weren't so rough she would have been like that.

She sighed, by the looks of it all the first years but the ones who had similar school years to Jo's were experiencing this behaviour. If Jo had free time she better use it for something other then what Jo always thought as selfish reasons, mainly trying to trace her heritage back.

She muttered softly to herself, revising what her late grandmother told her as a kid, it was too loud for anybody to hear and she said it too quietly so even if it was at normal volume nobody would have heard anyway. She looked at the girl as she searched for through her small pockets for a hair tie, she needed to focus.

Riley jumped when the girl dropped the books on the table. She watched as the girl massaged her hands and sat down beside Riley.
"Need help?" The girl offered, and Riley looked at the girl gratefully. She didn't like admitting she needed help, and she didn't know how this was so hard for her, but she sighed and gave up. Her paper looked like it went through a tornado.
"Oh my goodness yes please.. I don't understand a word in this book" She nodded at the girl. Riley stared at her crumpled up paper some more. How could it possibly be so hard for her? She's been reading about the history every extra second she gets, so why can't she just put what she knows into an essay? She sighed aloud. How wasn't this other girl at the same place Riley was, confused, with a tornado paper?

Her muggle school was nothing like this. The teachers barely assigned homework, and the stuff they learned was insanely different. Even the way they were taught was extremely different. It was such a change, Riley was 100% sure it would take at least half a year here at Hogwarts for her to get used to this new learning.

Jo smiled happily, for to her she thought this was not going to be a waste of time at any point. She re-arranged the stack of books she had and brought out the ones she thought useful, pushing the other gently aside. Writing essays was something Jo didn't like and felt like this was one of her fears in school but this should be better, this is her home now right? Hogwarts and the magic world?

She quickly then started looking through her pockets again, it was odd for her not to have a quill on her and she turned slightly red. Jo then started talking quickly her British accent turning very Irish quickly a habit she had developed from being raised in a household where everybody speaks with an Irish accent." So we need a topic, evidence supporting points and conclusion" She opened the school copy of the History book. "To spice things up sprinkle in some different vocabulary like say not "Because of the Goblin rebellion.." we need to say something more along the lines of "affected previously by the rebellion of the goblins for their aspiration for freedom.." and so on. Now we need to look for chapters supporting thing, like this-" she pointed at the chapter she thought would fit, it seemed to have a 100 sub-topics but this doesn't really matter. Jo's throat after a while started to hurt, she usually didn't speak that much. But she just kept going and going for what seemed like hours, the prep room clearing out slowly until right before dinner it was just Jo and the girl sitting next to each other. She just kept smiling until her cheeks hurt. She would take occasional looks at the girl she wasn't good at reading expressions but she could tell if something was going right or wrong. This was one of the instances where she couldn't.

Jo took a deep breath. "I think this is good enough" she said, her accent not anything close to Irish. "Want to sit with me at dinner?" she asked, she felt like she had a friend now, she hadn't felt that way in a long time.

Riley payed close attention to everything the girl was teaching her. She was very appreciative of the girl helping her. When the teaching was finally over, it all made a lot more sense. "Thank you so much, honestly. I really really appreciate it. And yeah, I'd love to sit with you at dinner!"

Riley got kinda excited. Was she making her first wizarding friend? This is awesome! She hadn't had a friend in a while, she was a loner in the muggle world, and she didn't know anyone from the wizarding world so she was very excited to make a friend. Though Riley didn't know the girls name, she had just realized that.

"So.. What's your name? My name is Riley, Riley Arcite." Riley smiled at the girl.

She started stacking all of her Magical History books up and put hers in her bag and the rest to a cart where they could be put back. She put her quill and ink in the bag also, double-checking to make sure that she had everything she brought down. She most definitely enjoyed the girl teaching her, she was better at explaining things than the teacher was. Riley was very grateful for her new friend.
