The patrols for the night were almost done, and it was looking like another night with little to no action. Reed took a deep breath and stretched as he walked into the small hall, and started leaning against the wall. Until they figured out how competent the new prefect would be, he only did a fourth of the patrols before having to meet with Bloom to do the rest. She already did way more than Reed did, and he was determined to take up enough of the work.

Reed had forgotten to bring a book,  so he just tapped his foot on the hard wooden floor. Soon, his mind began to drift. Drift to dreams of Grandure, thoughts on how a mystery novel he was reading would end, and more importantly, thoughts on how to get a hold on charms. He wasn't supposed to be rushing into it, but bloody hell he would! Sure, there have been some accidents involving splinters, nearly passing out, and bruises along his left leg, but he felt like if he could begin teaching himself he would have a lead on everyone else.

Before the 11 year old's thoughts strayed too far, he was brought back into thought by the foot steps that began echoing through the empty halls. Reed stood up straight and made sure his robes were straight before moving into the middle of the hall, trying his best to look as punctual, and organized as he could...well, ignoring the fact that he was holding his breath out of habit, and his face soon began to turn red.

The night felt long. It was different without Ben Eckenrode by her side. Going to the West Tower and Astronomy Tower did not have the magical effect it did before. She missed her boyfriend, her partner. However, she could not let Reed, the new prefect who replaced Ben, know how she felt. She needed to keep a smile on her face to ensure that he felt comfortable. What if she was in his position? She would want to feel comfortable, too.

After her rounds, she made her way down to the grounds where Reed was patrolling. She wondered if he was done with his patrols or still working on them. She remembered her first day as Prefect. It took awhile to understand how to patrol. How much square feet of the place did you have to look into? How much of patrolling was using her vision than hearing? And if a student was found, how do you tell the student -- who is of the same age -- to go to bed? How long would that have taken?

Life of a Prefect was difficult. In a way, she felt alone. Typically, it was Ben that was stronger in that department to tell people what to do. Bloom was just really good at the 'stern' look, thinking they would be intimidated.

Bloom peeked into the Great Hall and looked around. It seems as though he wasn't there. She then decided to give the Small Hall a shot. Walking down the corridor, paintings filling the walls around her, she made her way to the Small Hall where she saw Reed Wesley waiting patiently.

Getting closer to the Ravenclaw boy, Bloom saw that he was a bit stiff. Did he think a professor was coming? she thought and immediately she started laughing.

"Sorry. Relax, Reed. You're turning red," she joked, walking past the Prefect and sitting on the chair closest to the fireplace. "How were your rounds? Anything interesting?" she asked, trying to make conversation.

The black-haired wizard let out a relaxed sigh. Her laughing was just enough to cut some of the tension, so he didn't mind it at all. "Sorry, sorry....It's a habit..." He said with a nervous chuckle. He opened a note book he was keeping to keep track of his duties, and went to a page near the end. "Yeah. A Gryfindor girl was late since she fell asleep in the owlery writing a letter. I sent her off with a warning since it was an accident. Otherwise nothing." He said, reading the note on the girl, before realizing he never even got a name. He was about to yell at himself, but he decided to keep it cool.

Reed was a bit on edge to begin with. He started school not knowing a thing about magic, a few days later he learned his dad was a popular kid who was the head of a dueling club, and his mom another popular quiditch player. On top of feeling like he had shoes to fill, he signed up to become a prefect. He heard no other guys wanted to try for it since they were all caught up in studies (typical Ravenclaw) so he just...signed up. He saw Bloom walking around the commonroom all the time posting papers, and doing her best for the house. And with the other prefect resigning, it would have only gotten worse for the other student.

But now...he was regretting it. Every time he tried to talk to someone, he screwed up. Someone break a rule? Well now they hate you for doing your job. Someone damage Hogwarts property? Well now he had a ton of paperwork to do. It's not like this was the worst of it, either since Bloom was still teaching him everything. He didn't know what he could do.

After a few moments of Silence, Reed spoke up. "So, should we finish the rest of the patrol?"
