A Good Book.Aoife dragged another stack of books to the table she'd found near the back of the library. By now there were nearly 8 stacks of thick tomes littering the table she'd chosen to camp herself at. At first it had begun with Aoife simply coming in to study for some of her upcoming classes. But what had originally begun as a trip into the shelves to find a few reference books and materials became a literal book shopping spree for the young girl. Aoife had always enjoyed reading sure she didn't devote alot of time to the hobby but when she found something that caught her eye she'd often buy or check it out in order to read later.
Hogwarts library was a treasure trove of books that she'd never seen before. Yes she'd been into Flourish and Blotts here and there but often she didn't have the money to buy books. And the owner as nice as they were didn't exactly allow you to sit in and read a book from start to finish. Her parents sometimes bought her a book or two but one our two out of the millions of stories and books written were merely drops of water in an ocean. Finally hefting the last stack onto the table she let out a heavy breath crossing her arms as she looked upon the collection she'd put together with a nod. She'd gathered up quite a spread with books that varied from Non-Fiction, Fiction, Textbooks, Biographies, She was sure there was even an encyclopedia or two thrown into the mix.
It seemed every trip into the maze of shelves that comprised Hogwarts library she would find yet another title that peaked her interest. And so it would be added to the pile of books that she would bring back to her little reading corner. Even now she felt the wish to delve back in and see what she could find, She was sure that despite the sizable selection she had now there were plenty more just waiting to be discovered. But unfortunately part of her felt that she should probably stop now before she took on far more than she could handle. Already she knew that she wouldn't be able to even make a dent in the stacks of tomes. Sure enough plenty would probably be returned to their shelves and she'd have to narrow down the few she'd actually choose to checkout and read.
A small voice in the back of her head told her to simply check out them all. But she was quite sure that wasn't going to happen even if she did listen. She had her doubts that the Librarian would allow her to check out forty plus books. And that wasn't even factoring in the idea of transporting all of those books to the common room which was situated in a bloody tower of all places.
Shoving those thoughts to the rear of her mind she finally took a seat her arms and legs both thanking her as she gave them a desperately needed break from physical labor. She looked through the towers of books trying to narrow down which titles truly interested her and which one simply just seemed of intrigue in passing. She hummed as she picked a few books out of the stacks all of them written by someone named "Gilderoy Lockhart." After a brief dive into one of the tomes written she found herself rolling her eyes at the sheer narcissism conveyed in every word written. Her attempts to give a chance to any other of his works were met with similar exasperation leading to Aoife shoving an entire stack of his books toward the far end of the desk.
She picked up another book from the stack and hummed softly turning the book over in her hands. The showy golden letters of the title arched over an illustration of a witch in white robes being escorted by an un-helmeted knight at sword point drew her attention. "The Lyin' Witch an' the Warden..." She mumbled. She opened up the book to it's first page reading over the name of the author and a brief introduction to them accompanied by a moving picture of the young woman. "By Luz Noceda..." She muttered as she looked at the picture of a tanned young witch brightly smiling and waving at her. Aoife couldn't help but return the wave before flipping to the next page and it wasn't long before she was fully invested in the book eyes eagerly soaking in every line written. This Thread is dated a week into the school year

Her bag slung over her shoulder, Jess headed into the library to return a book she had been reading and hopefully check out another one to take a look at. As she walked down one of the many aisles of the Hogwarts school library, books whizzing to and fro above her head, a book with a dark green spine caught her eye. It had a blue section at its base stating its author, and, above that, the title "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" written in shiny silver ink along its spine. There was also a silver star design displayed above the the title, reflecting light off of the book's cover and into Jess's eyes.
Rising up on her tippy toes to reach the shelf, Jess slid the book out of the tight mass of novels around it and propped it up on her raised knee. Flipping the book over to the back revealed a blurb promising "five richly imaginative stories of adventure, cunning, heartache, and, of course, magic." There were also silver illustrations on the back of a fountain, a heart, a knight's helmet, and a wizard's couldron with a foot attached to the bottom of it. Cool. Deciding she might as well choose this book to read and not have to waste any more time wandering through the library's many shelves, Jess tucked the book safely under her arm and walked past the shelf and out into the reading area.
Out of the corner of her eye, Jess spotted a table littered with about fifty books of varying sizes, all piled on top of each other and seeming rather as if a single strong gust of wind would bring them all toppling down to the ground. Jess grinned, amused, and moved closer to the table. Her smile only split wider as she saw a flash of vivid red move behind the books, and realized that she actually knew the person responsible for picking out the massive amount of books.
She walked over to the girl and plopped down on a chair, laying down the copy of "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" on one of the few empty spaces still left on the table surface. "Hey, Aoife," she said with a grin. "Why so little books?"

Book Club!Aoife quickly found herself deeply engrossed in the book she was reading. Sure the author had taken quite a few creative liberties in her presentation of magic in her writing. But she could hardly blame her from what she'd read the woman who'd written the book was a muggleborn with quite a fantastical view of magic which stemmed from her childhood. And Aoife couldn't lie and say she wasn't a bit taken by Luz Noceda's theatrical and dramatic depictions. It was interesting reading about magic through the eyes of someone who was so obviously enamored by the idea of it. To her magic was part of her daily life she'd grown up watching everyone around her use it. Her parents, Her grandparents, Her siblings.
But the way the author wrote about it everything was academically correct but her descriptions the way she dramatized the movements of the wand or the beauty of the unique light emitted by every spell. It was like reading a fairy tail but knowing that it wasn't at all restricted by the boundaries of imagination. It was all very possible. She quickly turned to the next page eager to delve deeper into the world contained within the pages of the book. Wanting to see more and learn more about the characters and the world inside. All other books stood off to the side and likely would for quite some time if the thickness of the tome that Aoife was partaking in was any sort of indication. From behind her towers of books Aoife was already quite blind to the going on around her.
Stacks of thick and heavy tomes served quite effectively as walls to block out not only sight but the sounds around her. Leaving her in her own little world where she could read to her heart's content. She, of course, wasn't all too aware of the questionable structural integrity of her towers considering how deeply engrossed she was with her book. And it was probably fate's way of drawing her attention to them when she heard a book land upon one of the few empty spaces of her table. Despite it now being relatively "loud." it still somewhat took Aoife off guard when she heard it. She'd been so lost in the world held within the pages she'd for the most part detached herself from the world around her.
As Jess spoke up she jumped a bit in her seat her head quickly snapping upwards at the mention of her name. The usually friendly and energetic Ravenclaw girl seeming like a deer standing in a pair of headlights. It took a few moments for her heart to regulate itself. "O-Oh...'Lo Jess!" She said giving the Hufflepuff girl a small smile as she recovered from the scare. As the girl mentioned the quantity of books she'd collected she giggled softly. "Ah righ' I dinnae 'ave nearly 'nough do ah now?" She said shaking her head as she placed her novel down and gestured toward the wavering towers around her. She cast an unsure look at one of the piles and stood up to cut a few of the stacks in half placing them on the floor around her chair. Preventing what would likely have been a catastrophe if she had not acted.
Satisfied that her towers met all library safety standards Aoife turned back to the girl she'd met earlier in the week. Her eyes fell upon the book that Jess had placed down and lit up with recognition. "Oh is tha' "Beedle the Bard"?" She asked having remembered the book from her childhood.@Jess Malters

Seemingly completely engrossed in her book, Aoife didn't seem to notice Jess at first. The girl even jumped up a little at the Hufflepuff's words, startling an apologetic smile out of Jess. "Oh, sorry if I scared you!" Jess laughed as the girl greeted her. "I didn't realize you didn't hear me approach.... remind me to let you know I'm coming from a couple of feet away next time, will you?" She said this in a joking manner, but she hoped that Aoife could tell that Jess actually was sorry for startling her like that.
She furrowed her brow slightly at the Ravenclaw's next words, then relaxed into a grin as she realized what the girl was saying. Though she had known Aoife for a couple of days now, it was still hard at times to discern what the girl was actually saying through her thick Scottish accent. Idly Jess wondered if it was hard for Aoife to understand her too, since she knew she spoke with an American accent and sometimes used phrases from New York that she wasn't sure were popular here at Hogwarts. Like soccer, for instance. Everyone else here called it football, but Jess insisted on sticking with the name she was familiar with, for the purpose of comfort if nothing else.
"Definitely not... I reckon you need about fifty more books or so to make it a reasonable number to check out. Anything below that is simply unacceptable," Jess instructed jokingly as Aoife moved some of the books. Glad for the extra space and the decreased likelihood that one of the book piles would toppled over onto her at any given moment, Jess grinned and stretched.
"Hm?" Jess asked, still a bit too caught up in thinking about the previous structural flaws of the book stack to have paid much attention to Aoife's question. "Yeah, it is.... why, have you read it?"

Heather, who was sitting at a table near the back, was attempting to read. This, however, was hard because she got distracted watching a Ravenclaw girl carry books to her table. She had been there for at least half an hour, and after the girl was finally contempt with the books she had, she sat down and started reading. Heather smiled and shook her head, wondering how someone could read that many books. Before she even noticed the girl, Heather spent fifteen minutes trying to remove a small speck in the corner of the page she's been on. Some people say she has ADHD. She does have trouble focusing in classes. She's gotten some help with studying, so she's doing fairly well on assignments and such, she just needs to try and actually listen to what the teacher says.
Heather hears a familiar voice, and looks up, and sees a familiar face. Jess Malters, a fellow Hufflepuff. She was talking to the Ravenclaw girl, they seemed to be friends. Heather looked down at the book she was reading, noticing how the page number hasn't changed in the last hour. Shrugging, she closed the book, pulled her blonde hair back into a ponytail, put the back up on the shelf, and walks over to the two girls, "Hii! Nice to see you again, Jess!" She smiles, and turns to the Ravenclaw, "I don't believe we've met! I'm Heather, Heather Mongrove, it's nice to meet you!"
