James sighed in disappointment as yet another of his throws failed. Oh well, he wouldn't need to-
His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a large white object shooting towards him.
WHACK!
The snowball hit him right in the chest, and James was caught off balance for a second. Who had thrown that!? Who was-
BAM!
And again, James got hit with another snowball.
James ducked his head down and made his way behind a tree to recover and investigate on who had hit him. After some moments of scanning the area of the massive snowball fight, James finally managed to locate two different girls who were looking at him and must have been the ones who hit him.
The first one was a Slytherin girl who looked nice enough... that is, if they all weren't in the middle of a snow brawl, then James would have thought that. James might have seen her around before, and thought her name was Lettuce or something like that.
The second one was someone he did not expect to attack him in any circumstance. In fact, he was surprised that she was out here at all! Hiding behind a snow drift that was slowly becoming a snow fort, was Marissa North!
James laughed, smiling at the fact that she was out here. But now, what to do?
James made his decision and after looking around like one does before crossing the street, James bolted through the fight towards Marissa. He came around the drift and slid in next to her, spraying her with snow.
James laughed as he packed together another snowball.
"That's what you get!" he shouted playfully at her, grinning. "Truce?" he asked.
While waiting for an answer, he popped back up from behind the snow drift and found his target; it was Lettuce.

Clary sighed, watching as her snowball crumbled mid-air. Darn it! She must not have packed the ice hard enough to make an accurate impact against Anatole. Perhaps it was for the best; she would've hated the revenge Anatole would've attempted to seek out against her for the battle cry. Spotting a familiar head of blonde hair up ahead, Clary rushed across the field and joined her sister and James behind the tiny snow fort, offering a slight nod to the Hufflepuff boy. "Did I hear someone say truce?" The young Ravenclaw questioned, a playful smirk on her face. It was pretty evident just from looking at herself and Marissa that they were twin sisters, and considering James had already made an alliance with Mari, it was only fair that she could be added to it! "I'm Clary, Mari's twin!" she commented to him over the chaos, bending down to the ground to scrape up enough snow to prepare a snowball for a new target.

Smiling, she popped her head up from behind the barricade, proud of her sister's war tactics, and scanned the scene for the familiar sight of Anatole. Changing her mind last minute, Clary instead opted for revenge on Dymphna and quickly changed the snowball's trajectory, aiming over at her fellow Ravenclaw writer and acquaintance before ducking back under the barrier.

Oof!

Adam stumbled backwards, knocked off his balance and spun around by the three snowballs that slammed into him consecutively. Dazed, he tried to catch a glimpse of his attackers, and finally he identified them: Eris, Michelle, and Anatole. Clutching his heart in mock betrayal, he made sure they knew he had acknowledged them before sliding behind a thick tree to avoid further fire. It was a madhouse out there. Mind still reeling from the shocking joint attack, Adam shook his head and took a minute to collect himself. Eris, Michelle, and Anatole! Under fire from his closest friends and allies. And Anatole. But he was getting there.

Well, you wanted more action, and you got it, he reminded himself. Move on, you big dork. Scooping up some snow and packing it into yet another tight projectile, he scanned the grounds from his tree vantage point for a fourth target. His untouchable streak may have crashed, but Adam was still in the game. He caught sight of Serena and waved to her in thanks, remembering that she had come to his aid just minutes before. Still a bit caught up in the pounding he had received, Adam nearly forgot about his four-House goal. Hufflepuff, check. Ravenclaw, check. He'd failed to snag a Gryffindor, but there was still time. For now, he set his sights on the green scarves flashing through the wind.

Slytherin.

Slytherin House hadn't turned out to be nearly as bad as he had heard from his die-hard Gryffindor brother, but regardless, it would be plenty of fun to catch a Slytherin off guard. Adam didn't think too hard about it, seeking out the nearest Slytherin student and whipping his arm up to throw. All he could do now was hope for the best.

Reyna groaned as the snowball hit her, and she held her side, gritting her teeth while in slight pain. She quickly felt along her ribs to make sure that nothing was displaced. She sighed in relief when she released that she wasn't horribly injured, but she winced at the thought of the bruise it would leave. Well... I'm in no position to dodge... Reyna thought grimly, lying in the snow. But maybe I could try to hit someone...

Reyna grinned slightly, despite the pain in her ribs, and scooped up a pile of snow. She condensed it heavily, taking her time to make it perfect. When she was finally satisfied, she sat up slightly to decide who to throw it at. Not Siege... he'll probably target me again... Reyna mused, mulling over the options in her head. Finally her eyes landed on a the Head Boy of Hufflepuff. Reid, she believed he was called. Grinning slightly, Reyna gave her snowball one final pat before cocking her arm back and launching it at the Hufflepuff. Hope this one doesn't break midair like the last one... she thought, watching as the snowball sailed on its course to Reid's face.

Michelle squealed in delight as her snowball hit Adam and let out a huge laugh when many other snowballs followed each one making its way and striking Adam, he must've made  quite a few people mad. She grabbed another handful of snow and began packing it to form a ball, she stopped and thought out a strategy quickly. If she wanted to throw the snow fast she should make a few more so she dropped to her knees and began making multiple snowballs. The cold snow caused her leggings to soak through at the knees, the temperature making it almost hurt. If it let her hit lots of people, it was worth it. She looked up from her work to keep checking around to see if any snowballs were coming her way, she was lucky not to be hit with any on her way down to the field.

Once Michelle successfully made 4 snowballs she stood quickly with one clutched in her hand. She didn't know many other people here, that she could see, so she put a hand over her eyes and surveyed for a random victim. She found the perfect target when she saw a Gryffindor girl target a fellow Hufflepuff. She pulled back her arm and shot it at the girl to potentially save or avenge the Hufflepuff.

Ezekiel had managed to get himself stuck in the snow, but luckily no one had seen him. He popped up from behind the fort and looked around. Everyone was having an amazing time. But he wasn't here for fun anymore. His chest was starting to hurt, but he also didn't want to stop. So, he didn't. He gathered up some snow and packed it... Maybe a bit too tightly. His eyes shot around the grounds, spying person after person. He saw someone off in the distance having a conversation while also preparing to throw a snowball in the general area he was in. It was going towards the Slytherin girl, Lucette.

Ezekiel smiled to himself before starting to wind back to throw the snowball, realizing it was more like a chunk of ice at this point he dropped it. "I don't wanna hurt him that bad." He thought to himself, making a new snowball, packed a bit more normal this time and lining up his shot. He wouldn't drop down this time. He'd just get stuck again. He wound up his arm and took his shot, aiming for the Hufflepuff boy in the distance.

Eris dived behind the fort her friends had started to build, and smiled at Rose, Ezekiel and Lucette, with the expression of someone who was really enjoying herself. She had lost Rose in the start of the fight, and was happy to see that her new hufflepuff friend had found her way to the Sytherin prefect Lucette, and the boy who liked the Maze-runner, Ezekiel. Although, Ezekiel looked a lot more beat up and drained than he had been when Eris had last seen him. Maybe he had been hit with a hard snowball.

"Guys, I hit somebody!" Eris said brightly, leaning down to scoop up another pile of snow in the safety of the recently build fort. Her snowballs were getting less and less round, and now looked like little clumps of snow, stuck together with pure laziness. Eris looked around the playing field, eyes narrowing as she stared at everybody throwing snowballs and evading them in return. There were plenty of people running around, including professors. Eris still wasn't sure if hitting a professor was a good idea, so she focused her gaze on other students.

Seeing a boy aim a snowball at Lucette, Eris threw her snowball back at James. Nobody hit her friends!

Having caught up to Peach and thrown a snowball, Amelia watched sadly as the ball crumbled in air. Clearly she hadn’t put enough time and energy into this one, having been too excited about spotting her friend on the grounds with her. She couldn’t be disappointed for long, though, because it didn’t seem like this was a game anyone was taking too seriously. These were Amelia’s favorite kinds of games, the ones where you could get competitive and then step off the field and still be on good terms with everyone. Quidditch was something completely different but gave her a similar feeling as this snowball fight did.

Smiling, the Ravenclaw noticed more and more people she knew who had been hiding, or at the wrong angles, or who had just joined the fight of recent. With how much fun she was having, Amelia couldn't even feel the cold that threatened her extremities and seeped through her layers. She hoped she wouldn’t be one of the people to be hit in the face, or trip up while throwing a ball the wrong way. It was a crowd of craziness and Amelia was enjoying every second of it, regardless of the little sense it made to her.

Turning back to her friend, who seemed just as happy to see her as Amelia had hoped, embracing her in a warm hug. What the Raven didn't expect was Peach tackling her into the snow, where Amelia let out a little shriek of surprise and happiness and burst into a fit of giggles. She was completely soaked now, and snowflakes clung to her curly brown hair but her face was lit up in a way that only Peach brought out in her. “Whose team are you on?” Amelia yelled playfully as her Hufflepuff friend poured snow down her jacket. Shaking it off, she rolled to the opposite side of Peach and realized she had forgotten a game was in action for a moment.

Taking a minute to really pack the snowball together, putting good thoughts and feeling into it, the Lovell girl spotted her target. Having surveyed the area, the person she chose was none other than her house prefect, Bloom Silverton. With a playful grin, Amelia threw the snowball in the air with quite a bit of force, hoping to send it right towards her.

Dmitri Kazimir Jones pumped his fist in the air as he watched the graceful arc of his thrown projectile end up straight onto Sir Darren Hurst's exposed back, cutting off the Keeper's celebration of his successful hit on his daughter. Hah. How does it feel, now? The Slytherin boy chuckled jovially at having successfully exacting revenge on one of his attackers.

All around him, the game continued, his companions' faces--both student and staff--red with the cold and with the joy, jackets and coats soaked with melting ice and loud laughs ringing throughout the catle courtyard. The raven-haired boy really wasn't used to all the noise and the socializing but nevertheless, the fun--and he had to admit, the awaiting rewards--resulting from the little game made him see that the benefits ultimately exceeded the cost of him foregoing his studies in favor of frolicking in the winter snow.

Turning his head this way and that, Dmitri searched for his next target--he kind of hoped to hit Peach right in the face as revenge for earlier. Spotting the other student a ways away, he moved closer and leaned down to pick up a bunch of ice in his hands and packed it into a dense snowball.

Hungry? How about you eat this, Peach? The Slytherin smirked.

Anatole pumped his fist, watching his snowball connect with Adam, hitting him in the side. "Yes!" Anatole called, a wide smile on his face.

Just then, a snowball hit him right on the cheek, some of the snow leaking into his mouth. Naturally, Anatole, being Anatole, struggled to keep his balance. He fell, left side first into the snow, laughing as his winter coat grew sopping wet. Slowly, he took a snowball, rolling it up and trying to find the glimpse of dark hair he saw when that snowball was thrown at him.

First off, he knew by the laugh it might have been a girl, and maybe even a Hufflepuff in that matter, since there were approximately five million snowballs being thrown at the Ravenclaw. Girl... Hufflepuff...Dark hair...

Ugh. Anatole, mustering up his strength and getting to his feet, kept searching for a new target.

He looked back at one of the other faces he knew, one of then being Claryssa. She seemed a little frustrated. There was a large lump of snow between the two of them, maybe a failed snowball of some sort. Anatole, his hands growing numb again, kept an eye on Claryssa and ran into the center of battle, at the last moment turning around and chucking a snowball right at her exposed neck.
