Doubts
@Kevin Miller
Miranda always came outside when the weather was nice to take a walk around the grounds, but this time she found herself straying towards the Quiditch Training Pitch. And it was pretty obvious, at least to her, as to why.
When the Quiditch tryouts had been held, Miranda's younger brother, Cedar, had convinced her to try out for the Ravenclaw team. Now, she didn't exactly like flying on brooms in the first place, but her brother had convinced her to at least try it, and that chances were that she wouldn't get a spot on the team.
How wrong he'd been.
Now Miranda found herself pressed into service as one of the Ravenclaw chasers. Which meant that during the next game, it would be her job to score goals for her team. On a broom. Which she hated. Seriously, how much worse could it get?
Unfortunately, there was no way to get out of it, especially since Miranda had never been one to back down, even when not doing so was clearly a bad idea. This was clearly a bad idea. Flying was her overall worst class, and her brother had known that quite well.
So here she was.
A Chaser
In fact, Miranda was so lost in her own thoughts that she'd lost track of anyone nearby. They could probably walk right up to her, and she'd never notice.

Doubts
When the weather is nice, Kevin usually goes out to the park. He had just finished his lessons for today and since it was not that late in the afternoon, he considered going to the park. But he wasn't sure what to do when he remembered he had a flight assignment for the next week. Therefore, he went to the Quidditch training ground. He wouldn't fly but since there were people on the ground he could maybe ask them if he has a question about his homework.
As he walked around the training ground, looking for a comfortable place to sit, Kevin saw a girl, who appeared to be a bit older than him. * Maybe she's in second year, he thought *. But that didn't matter to him, he sat down on the floor near the training ground and started his homework. The first question was easy and the second a little more difficult, but he answered it without any problem. Then he considered the third question. It was the hardest. The question was about roles in Quidditch. But Kevin didn't know anything about Quidditch other than the names of the different posts and the names of the balls. As the girl was still there, he stood up and walked in her direction. He stopped near her. She seemed lost in her thoughts, he didn't want to disturb her. But he had to finish his homework. Kevin didn't know what to do: ask him or not? He finally opted for the first option.
- Hey, I'm sorry but I saw you on the pitch so I thought maybe you were a Quidditch player. I have a question in my flight assignment that I cannot answer. Can you help me please? Only if you want of course!
He was a little ashamed of what he had done, asking someone he didn't know if she could help him. What a stupid thing! Why did he do this?
@Miranda Everest I hope you like what I wrote!

Doubts
Miranda felt tempted to leave the pitch, but couldn't make herself do it. It was the best place to think about her dilemma, so why leave? To her, the very idea sounded like giving up and backing down. Which was never something she'd do, not if she could help it.
Her internal argument was interrupted by a voice piercing the reverie she found herself enveloped in.
"Huh?" Miranda said in surprise, glancing over to see a boy with blond hair looking at her intently. No doubt it was he who had just spoken. "Um, sure?" Another beat passed, then she realized exactly what else the boy had said. Was it really that easy to recognize the fact that she was now, much as she was aggravated by the fact, a Quidditch player? Chances were that he'd just guessed from the fact that she was hanging around the training pitch...he'd even said as much. But an incessant doubt wouldn't stop niggling at the back of her mind, whispering and amplifying the worries that coursed through her head. Hopefully her face didn't reflect her mood, which was quite likely to scare the boy off.
Then again, chances were that it did. Miranda did her best to settle her expression into one of amusement, or at least kindness. But she feared it was probably closer to a semi-pained grimace.
@Kevin Miller It's excellent! Keep up the good work!

Doubts
Miranda Everest granted permission to godmod.
She may have been surprised because she suddenly turned and looked at Kevin with a scary face. Actually it wasn't very scary, it was more something like a grimace. She was astonished. By what? Kevin didn't know it. He didn't say something bad, nor something extraordinary, he just asked her a question.
Anyway, as she accepted to answer him, he just showed to her the question on his homework paper he can't answer and she explained him what he had to answer. Actually, it wasn't so difficult but he had never been taught about how to fly with a broom or how to play Quidditch, so he can't have known the answer.
- Oh ok, thanks, I see, it's not very difficult when you know the answer.
He was hesitating. Did he have to introduce himself or just leave her without saying something more? She seemed to be very friendly so he finally decided to stay with her. There was a long silence. Nobody was talking. Kevin was looking at her, hoping she will speak first, because he was a bit intimidated. But as she didn't seem to want to start the conversation too, he finally introduced himself.
- I'm Kevin by the way, Kevin Miller. I'm in first year and you?
The girl listened to him carefully but didn't answer immediately. There was a long silence and then she looked at him and introduce herself to the young boy.
@Miranda Everest, I'm so sorry for the delay!

Doubts
Upon seeing the question the boy had struggled with, Miranda quickly read it through, then turned to him and explained, confident she'd gotten it right. After all, she'd done more studying than usual on the subject (and that was saying something, coming from her) in preparation for becoming an official Quidditch player. Not that it really seemed to help, but at the time it had been reassuring to feel like the was doing something. Hopefully she'd at least get by one match without forgetting the rules or something silly like that, what with her new knowledge.
"I'm Miranda Everest," the Ravenclaw student replied a few beats after the boy, her gaze refocusing as she was brought back to the present. "A second year student, so not really much older than you." Miranda wasn't sure why she'd tacked on the last part of her sentence, especially since when she'd been in first year, everyone older than her had felt ancient. But maybe Kevin thought differently.
She internally winced at how bad she was at keeping up the conversation, but it was mostly because her thoughts were elsewhere for the time being. The Ravenclaw has always been one to get distracted easily, so it wasn't all that uncommon really, but seemed to be a bit worse at the moment. She fervently hoped that Kevin wasn't put off by her detached behavior, although she knew it was most likely that he was.
@Kevin Miller No worries!
