Dear Lea,

Yes I completely understand your position. I know the muggle world quite well since my mother (who is the muggle) wanted me to be properly immersed in both societies.

Oh I've struggled so much with the staircases, I even happened to get lost on multiple occasions. Once I even had to get help from a second year. My brother is very busy with preparing for his NEWTs (if you don't know what NEWTs are, they are a an exam for seventh years) so he hasn't gotten a lot of time to show me around.

Is the colour scheme of your dorms yellow like your emblem? Sorry for all the questions I suppose I am just super curious about what the other dorms look like

How have you been liking the classes? Which do you like the most so far?

The girl had gotten excited as she saw the owl fly closer, hiding the smile between bites of food. She gave the owl a small pat as she read the letter, before quickly going up to the owlery. The girl would brush the end of the quill under her chin as she thought was to write, debating how much she wanted to share with this person she hadn't met. Maybe Lea would see her- they were both first years after all. The thought brought a small smile and the beginnings of a response back.

"Safe travels," the hufflepuff called as she attached the finished letter.

That certainly seems like the best position to be in. Not lost in the normal world, but also know the wizarding one, too. It must be really confusing to see other places when you're parents are both wizards and they never said anything about the normal world.

I had to get some help from some older years, too. It would've been embarrassing if it wasn't that almost all the other first years seem to get lost too. NEWTS, that's an odd name for a test. But I'm assuming it's pretty challenging if it's for seventh years. I hope he does well.

Yes, that is correct. Not so much the black in our emblem, but definitely the yellow. If I could draw, I would show you, but that's not really something I'm good at. Do you know how to draw? And are your dorms like the colors of the Grif Gryffyn Gryffindor emblem?

Classes have been confusing as I've been flipping between sides, but I'm getting better. Transfiguration is my favorite- you?

Ah! Another letter! Akari thought happily to herself as an owl dropped off a small rolled up piece of parchment paper. She quickly stopped what she was doing and got to reading and once she was finished she pulled out her quill and took out a piece of parchment paper then sat down and began to write her reply.

Yes I agree, I'm quite happy that I have grown up able to experience both places. It would be so strange to grow up differently and only in one world, so I suppose I am quite lucky.

N.E.W.Ts is a bit of an odd name, especially if you do not know what is stands for. (so if you didn't know my brother told me it stands for Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests) Do you have any siblings?

Yes, our dorms do have quite a lot of gold and red to match our emblem. Oh how I wish I could draw... Every time I have tried it turns out to be an utter mess!

I've been liking most of the classes since they are all much more interesting then all the subjects I have studied in muggle school, but I'd have to say I am quite fond of Defence Against the Dark Arts. As well as Charms, which I find to be an enjoyable class.

I'm assuming that if you're a muggle-born you did not know what Quidditch was before you came here. What do you think about it?

There was really no other reason as to why the young girl would get a letter. Which made it all the more exciting whenever an owl would swoop down close to her or drop off a letter. The girl would smile, beginning to write her response.

No wonder they shorten it down to NEWTs. Who would want to take a test named Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests? Sounds horrible. I do not have any siblings. Both a good thing and a bad thing, I've heard. My friends used to always talk about the issues between older or young siblings. How do you like having a sibling?

It seems we're in the same boat, then. Drawings- so pretty, yet so impossible. It never makes sense. Your dorms sound neat, though. Is it a really bright red or more muted? Bright red sounds like a pain, but muted seems nice.

Charms... has yet to make sense to me. I'll get it eventually, though, hopefully. Defence against the Dark Arts is a neat class, though. It was one I detested on the first few day of classes, but I enjoy it a lot more now.

Quidditch- the one where you ride brooms to score and to get a small gold flying thing? It seems dangerous, why can't they have normal sports? I would still be really bad at them, but at least I wouldn't fall out of the sky.

Having a sibling is definitely a love-hate situation. Sometimes I get really frustrated and annoyed with him but on the other hand I can have lots of fun. Over all I suppose I do like having a sibling because I fear it would be very boring without one. How do you like being an only child? Have you ever wanted to have a brother or sister?

Our dorms are a exactly like our ties if you’ve seen them... I’m not particularly sure how to describe it, the best way I can explain it is basically a pretty vibrant red/burgundy color.

Yes, quidditch is the sport with brooms! I actually really like it but I don’t think that I am good at all. But I am most definitely worse at regular muggle sports.
I’m learning to play a muggle sport called football or as some call it soccer, do you like it?

Football, huh? The girl had smiled at the thought, brought back to the few memories she had of actually playing the sport. Or any sport, really. She could throw, but definitely not catch. Neither skill was really useful in football, though.

That makes more sense. I like being an only child, all my stuff is my own, not handed down between older siblings. I got my own room and I could have my own time. If I wanted to be with others, I had friends who lived nearby. But yeah, there were sometimes where I would've wanted a sibling. But being an only child is also nice.

Oh, that makes sense. Ours is a little different from the ties, but basically the warm. A warmer yellow, I suppose. But that may just be light coming in. The color on the ties are nice, though, nothing too crazy.

Oh, football! I more watched people play it than actually playing it myself. I- that's a good question. Not being good at sports certainly makes it not as appealing, but it is one I would be more likely to do. Except I generally run away from anything that's coming at my quickly. Like frisbees, tennis balls, whatever. Have you been enjoying it?

Akari's knowledge of regular sports was pretty shallow but that was mostly by choice, she didn't find them that entertaining and so she was quite surprised when she enjoyed playing football. Out of all the muggle sports she had tried it was the most fun, but it did help that a friend was teaching her.

I most certainly agree that being not so good at a particular sport makes it less appealing... I suppose if you really like it you can practice to get better, but honestly when I am that bad at something I am not in the slightest bit motivated to continue (at least for things that I think are only somewhat enjoyable but don't love... if that makes sense).
Aside from the fact that I am surely not a football prodigy, learning it has been quite nice. I must admit at first I was horribly confused but after I had found a lot of connections between it and quidditch it became much easier for me to grasp.


I realize I never asked you where you are from. Do you live around here? Relatively speaking of course.
Currently, I live in London with my immediate family but I was actually born in a small town in the East of England, although, my entire family from my Fathers side are Japanese and live in Japan.
Do you have family in other countries?

The owl was back. Now that she was paying more attention to pets (and the lurking homesickness), the girl realized how beautiful they were. She already knew what her parents were going to say, though.

Dear Akari,

No that makes sense. Like how some of my friends enjoyed doing gymnastics- I would join them during lunch and try it out. I liked doing it, but not enough to really want to continue in any way. If you put enough practice into anything- provided you have guidance as well- then you'll be able be able to do it well. It's whether you're interested or not, really.

Sorry for that rambling.

Yeah, my family lives near here. Well, south from here and it seems far, but it really isn't. I do have some family in Germany, my father's side as well. But my mother's side lives here as well. Well, not here here, but... It is a little unfortunate that I don't get to see them as much. I imagine you don't get to see your family in Japan often?

The idea of a pet has been on my mind a lot. Just a companion to have since I don't get to see my family as often. I doubt my parents'll be okay with it, though. Would you want a pet? I think I'd want a cat or an owl.

That is wicked that you have family in Germany. I assume that you been there before then? If you have what was it like? It seems like it would be an interesting place to take a trip to. Do you know how to speak any German?
Correct, I hardly ever see my family in Japan since they don't come here, ever (I have no clue why) and we only go there every once in a while.


Oh yes, I would absolutely love to get a pet! You are so right, it would be lovely having furry (or feathery) a companion. I would definitely want either an owl or a cat too... but I am thinking that I possibly might prefer getting a cat.
How come you think your parents won't let you?
Do you have any ideas of what you would name your pet if you were able to get one?
