Everyone was talking a bit and Katrina simply sipped her coffee, listening to everybody talk about school. That was all anybody talked about anyway. What was your name? What year were you? What house are you in? Do you play quidditch? Those five questions were staples of literally every single conversation that Katrina had ever had.

Katrina took the little spoon from beside her creamy coffee and stirred the tan liquid. Her go-to beverage was tea, usually herbal. But they didn't really serve tea her so coffee worked.

The conversation came around to Hogsmede. Katrina brightened a bit and listened as the girls explained their assumptions of why you have to wait. "I haven't gone to Hogsmeade yet, but the second week of school will be my first trip. I did some trades with older kids though. I'd pay them in drawings of themselves or of other things, and they would get me a couple chocolate frogs or a few lemon drops," Katrina smiled a bit.

"And, yeah, I assume that they only have third years go because they are old enough to be on their own for a bit. If any of you want me to get stuff for you from Hogsmeade once school starts, you can count on me to get you a few things," IC cos im broke Katrina had already thought about setting up a sort of trading thing to help the younger kids get some of the treats, she hadn't put anything in stone yet though since third year classes were supposedly really hard.

Katrina waited a few moments before starting up another conversation, "So, what are you most excited to learn this year?"

Allie would ask the group why they think that only third years are allowed to go to Hogsmeade. Matrix would think for a moment while Miranda and Allie answer the question. “I think it it is because they don’t trust the first and second years enough to let us go on our own. I think it’s also because they are older and in their teenage years” Matrix would answer. Katrina would then say that she had not gone to Hogsmeade yet and would go next week.

Katrina would then tell them that she traded her paintings for chocolate frogs. “So your a good artist then?” He would ask curiously. That was an interesting way of getting stuff without spending money. Katrina would then offer to buy them stuff from Hogsmeade. He did not need anything at the moment so he would politely decline. “Thanks for the offer, but I do not want anything” He would say with a warm smile.

Matrix would take another sip of his drink, it would be a little more than half way done. Katrina would then ask a question about what he was looking forward the most about the year. “Probably to learn some spells that can do cool stuff. Oh, also to learn how to fly on a broom stick.” He would respond. He was basically looking forward to everything but these where the top two things.

The rest of the group agreed that the reason only third years and up were allowed to go to Hogsmeade was because they were older and more. . . maybe mature? Allie shrugged but agreed with them. That would make sense. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Miranda back up slightly and followed the older girl's gaze to Katrina's pet cat. That's interesting, she thought silently to herself, but didn't say anything.

"You must be a really good artist," Allie said with a smile after Katrina had explained how she got a few chocolate frogs from older students. Then, in reply to Katrina's offer to buy stuff for them when she went to Hogsmeade, Allie shrugged slightly. "Maybe. . . well, what do they have there? I've never been. . ." Matrix told Katrina he didn't want anything, probably the most polite answer, since the older girl didn't have to spend any of her money for them. . . Oh well.

The Gryffindor then switched to a different topic - still about school,which Allie didn't mind. She asked what they were most excited to learn, which the Ravenclaw had to think a little bit about. After listening to Matrix's answer, she replied. "I think Charms and Potions class sound interesting," she started. "But like Matrix, I also want to learn how to ride a broom better." When she was younger, Allie's father had bought her a toy broomstick, nothing much. It only hovered a little ways off the ground, but Allie had loved playing with it back then. "What about you two?" She asked Miranda and Katrina.

"Oh, that sounds smart," Miranda replied with a nod when Katrina shared how she got things from the wizarding town while still in first and second year. "I'd try it, but I'm not what anyone would call a good artist when it comes to drawing pictures of other people. I've done it before, but they always end up looking a bit strange." She then remembered what else the Grynffindor girl had said, and quickly added that she didn't really need anything there anyways. "I can get it all from home, if I really want to anyways. My younger brother doesn't mind owling me stuff like that, as long as I make it up to him later on." Speaking of her brother, Miranda glanced around the Leaky Cauldron again. Still no sign of him.

"Well, I've always enjoyed Defense Against The Dark Arts. It's the closest I can get to Care for Magical Beasts, which is hands down the class I'm looking forward too the most, even if I have to be in third year to attend it." She then shrugged. "Honestly, I've never been that good on a broomstick, like, ever, so Flying definitely isn't on my favorites list, even though I understand why other people enjoy it. I prefer learning from books and lectures, not from flying around without background knowledge."

The conversation inadvertently swung to Katrina's artistic skills. It wasn't something she often brought up just for the sake of people instantly asking for her to draw them. Katrina felt odd in the spotlight, she hadn't really been seeking attention and was already trying to get it focused on someone else. "I guess, I just do it a lot is all," Katrina toned it down a bit. She was actually exceptional for her age, but she would be the last one to admit that.

"I'm really not sure all that they have. From what I understand it's basically a glorified Diagon Alley. But there is a candy shop that sells all sorts of things. Chocolate Frogs, Lemon Drops, anything you can get from the train basically," Katrina didn't offer any more information. She realized that she had been stealing the spotlight, something that she didn't do often. Attention was hardly ever given to her, so she never longed for it.

The conversation shifted to her again and Katrina gave up trying to get the attention off of her, "I like Astronomy best. I'm also taking CoMC this year, Care of Magical Creatures. I'm looking forward to that," Katrina felt a smile pull at her lips. "As for Flying, I am afraid of heights and don't have good past with a broom," She made it a joking matter, pushing aside a string of sour memories.

Katrina would not really talk about her artistic skill, but Matrix decided not to pry. Not everyone likes to talk a lot, unlike him. He hoped he did not annoy them to much.

The other girls would talk about their favorite subjects. Allie would also like flying and charms. Matrix would be happy that his new friend shared similar interest with him. Miranda would then mention that the class she was most looking forward to was Care of Magical Creatures. He barely remembered her reaction to the cat. “You like magic creatures too!!!” He would say a little to excited and loud. A few people would look at him and Matrix would blush for drawing to much attention. Though he was a crazy social person, he hated getting unnecessary attention, it just made him get uncomfortable and nervous. Katrina would then tell him that she was in the class. “Lucky!” He would say a little quieter. He hoped the two years between him and his dream class would disappear. “I want to work with magical creatures when I grow up.” Matrix would say excitedly. “What about you guys?” Matrix would ask the group. “Any ideas on what you want to do in the future?”

OOC: So sorry this took so long!

Allie waited patiently while Miranda answered Katrina's offer to buy the three of them things at Hogsmeade. When she mentioned having a younger brother, Allie smiled. She didn't have any siblings, and had wanted one for a little while when she was younger, but over the years she had gotten used to not having any siblings so she didn't mind much anymore.

"Oh, Defense Against the Dark Arts is interesting," Allie agreed with Miranda. "My father really liked that subject, he works as an Auror." When Miranda added that she didn't like Flying as much, Allie nodded. "I can see that - I like reading a lot as well, but for me flying is a little bit of a break." she gave the other girl a smile.

Katrina responded to the first year's question about Hogsmeade and Allie thought for a few moments about if she wanted anything the older student had mentioned. "Hmm, I'm not sure, everything sounds great," Allie bit her lip. "Oh, and, if you don't want to, you don't have to get me anything at all." She didn't want to pressure Katrina into buying her something - and she would understand if she chose not to.

Matrix seemed excited that Miranda liked magical creatures too, and Allie had to laugh slightly when she noticed the heads turning in their direction. She wasn't laughing at him of course. He "Oh, that's cool," she said in response to him telling the group that he wanted to work with magical creatures in the future. "I really want to be a professor when I grow up. At Hogwarts," she clarified. Wondering what the others wanted to be, she turned to face them.

"Of course!" Miranda replied in answer to Matrix's question. "Magical creatures are amazing! And fascinating! What's not to like?" It was no secret that the second year was absolutely obsessed with the creatures. Possibly because both her parents worked in the fantastic beast industry, and it had rubbed off on both of their children.

Miranda smiled back at Allie when she agreed with her on Defence Against the Dark Arts and Flying. Yes, their Flying classes could be terribly annoying. She couldn't understand how anyone would like something like that - especially people like her brother, who were nothing short of obsessed with brooms and broom-based games like Quidditch.

The Ravenclaw craned her neck to peer around the room, trying to spot her brother. No such luck. Wherever he'd gone, he was hidden well. Either that, or he'd gone home, which was a distinct possibility she didn't want to think about for the moment.

"A Hogwarts professor sounds like a cool job," Miranda agreed with a small nod in Allie's direction. Then she grinned at Matrix. "Preferably as the Professor for Care for Magical Beasts, if I can. That would pretty much combine everything I want to be in one job."
