Character background:

Rish Sen was born on November 24th, 2008, in London, England. She was a half-blood, her mother a witch and her father a Muggle. Alyssa, her mother, did not come out to her father, David, until after she was born. Alyssa was scared that if Rish was a witch, David would not take it well If she told him later, so she told him. Being a logical person, David laughed it off, but then Alyssa showed him that magic was real, and he was shocked. For a few weeks after Rish’s birth, he avoided them and stayed by himself for hours on end, until finally he realized that he had to deal with it, and that his wife and kid were people, after all, and after that he grew to love both of them wholeheartedly, no matter if they were magic or not.

When it was time for Rish to go to school, she had not shown any bouts of accidental magic. They knew that most kids showed it when they were 7 and that Rish had a long way to go, they were still worried. After a discussion they decided to send her to a Muggle school until they were sure she was a witch.

At Muggle school Rish academically thrived. She loved learning with all her heart, and reading books was her favourite way of passing time, other than drawing, singing, and everything music. She loved music. She made many friends but also spent her first three grades at school bullied. She was excited about life in general and loved to talk to people, and her friends suddenly became more interesting than books. Of course, Rish still loved reading. The years passed, and Rish turned eight, with still no signs of magic. But one day, that changed.

On that day she had a broken leg, because she had been running and tripped, hitting her knee on a rock. She had been told to rest, but she was bored, and desperately needed something to do. Unfortunately, all the books were too far away for her to reach. Her parents were upstairs, but she didn’t want to call for them, as they were busy. So, she decided to spend her time staring longingly at the books on the table far away. Then, suddenly, one book started to wriggle, and float in the air. Rish’s eyes went wide, and called for her parents. Contrary to what Rish had been believing, though, they both broke into a huge smile. They then talked to her about magic, and Hogwarts. From that day on, Alyssa had been telling Rish stories of Hogwarts, the houses, and their adventures there. She was a Ravenclaw, she’d said, but she would be happy no matter what house Rish would be in.

Rish, since she loved school, stayed in Muggle School until she was eleven. And when she finally got her Hogwarts letter, she was brimming with excitement. She might’ve not been a Ravenclaw like her mother, but she loved being a Hufflepuff as well. Who cares if people thought they’re the potato house—the people there are amazing!
