Letters by owl
I had never sent a letter by owl before being a muggleborn but phones didn't really work at Hogwartsso it was the only option I really knew of to send letters home and I wasn't entirely upset about that.
It hadn't taken me long to find owlery I seemed to be getting better at navigating the school a fact I was quite proud of. I opened the door to find a tower completly filled with owls. Some of them glanced at me as I walked in but others couldn't be bothered less.
There were so many of them I thought. Some of them were little more then small fuzzballs. There were a few white owls, along with spotted ones brown one and darker ones.they all seemed to have their own perches on the walls though some of them were flying around.
I hadn't thought about it much before but the big birds flying around made me nervous. They could very easily attack me. But I tried not to think about that as I walked inside they seemed nice. I looked around for a moment with my letter for my parents telling them about Hogwarts clutched in my hand. After ai moment i found some barn owls that must have been the school ones but as I was walking over hoping it wouldn't be too hard to tie the letter to the birds leg I heard the door open behind me and I turned and noticed someone standing in the doorway.

Letters by owl
Barret walked into the owlery, taking in the musky scent of owl dropping...She was never too fond of birds, but she was here for a reason that was deeply important to her. A lot had happened in quite short amount of time for her, like it had for many others inside the castle.
It still felt like it was just yesterday when Barret's perception of reality was flipped on it's head, but the hardest for her was being separated from her siblings. She couldn't remember a day where she wasn't by their side. Others might've been annoyed by it, but to Barret despite the fact that they were a few years younger they were her greatest companions...
The words that they said before she had left 'It's okay, we'll be fine!' did little to put her at ease and could do nothing for the amount of homesickness that overtook her. Perhaps contact with them would help, but unfortunately contact with them was harder here than it would be in the 'muggle' world. Here there was no such things as instant messages, strokes on the keyboard, or even a good ole trusty no.2 pencil.
Barret understood why, why have those things when you could magic your way out of the problems that they are supposed to be solutions for? This didn't make it any easier, but Barret was determined to conquer these difficulties! Starting with the owls.
She noticed the other girl with the startling blue eyes..Good...Help....
"Hello!"
She flashed the Ravenclaw a warm smile
"Do you know how to use one of these?"
She pointed at the owl.

Letters by owl
I startled and turned to find another girl standing in the doorway. She wrinkled her nose slightly as she walked in but I couldn't blame her bird droppings definatly did not create the best scent. She looked a bit taller then be with short light brown hair. When she noticed me standing their she flashed me a smile and said in a very chipper voice,
"Hello!"
I blinked a bit at the girls confidence to just start a conversation with a totall stanger usally when I saw another I would try my best to not be noticed at all.
"Do you know how to use one of these?"
She asked pointing at an owl. I glanced at her confused for a moment then I realized she must be asking how to send a letter by owl. I'd never heard someone address owls as one of these but I suppose it made sense in this siuation.
I pulled at my air a nervous habit. I wanted to help the girl but honestl I barely knew what I was doing myself, "Uh, sort of? I think we're supposed to tie our letters to one of their feet." I start trying to remember what an older student had told me about how this worked. "Then I guess we just tell them were we need them to deliever the letter to, I think? I don't really know how they know how to get there but thats what someone told me so um," I trailed off hoping I didn't sound like an idot.

Letters by owl
Interacting with @Violet Tyler and @Barret Baldwin
Scarlet had only been at Hogwarts for a short time but was already missing home and the forest within which it was located. Her father had always told her that the house was deep enough within the forest that muggles wouldn't stumble across them, and too far for any other wizards to bother visiting - he had grown up taught to value privacy.
For Scarlet this meant growing up in the company of the various woodland creatures she would find during her explorations of the area. So naturally when an older Slytherin told her about the vast species of owls that called the owlery home, she couldn't wait to pay them a visit, for her this could go further to making Hogwarts feel like home then sending an actual letter.
As she approached the top of the steep stairs to the owlery she heard the muffled discussion between two girls, causing her to stop just before the entrance. She hadn't really made many new friends yet, and could sometimes became flustered at the thought of attempting to do so.
Scarlet considered leaving and coming back later, when she heard one of the girls ask the other,
"Do you know how to use one of these?"
The small exchange that followed lead her to believe that the two girls could use a hand, having a parent who worked in the Beast Division of the Ministry and had taught her about various magical creatures, including owls, she felt the need to interject as they began to question how the owls know where to go.
"No-one really knows exactly how the owl finds the right wizard or witch, but apparently they make a connection between the name and whoever it belongs to to trace them...basically."
The two girls looked up at her with slight confusion, and she realised she hadn't even introduced herself,
"I'm Scarlet by the way, do you need a hand with the owls?"
