So Very Grounded
It had been a while since anything particularly crazy had happened to Kreszentia. To her, it was simply the calm before the storm. After her last little incident in the library, Krez found that she had become more anxious than usual for the past few days. One doesn't simply terrorize and injure another student without penalty, but the punishment she had already received wasn't even close to what she was waiting for. She knew, one way or another, her family would hear of her antics. And once they knew, she would have to face them. Somehow.
When letters from home were given out, Krez obviously expected her parent's reply to be a little on the aggressive side. The envelope was a bright, striking shade of red. Bad news, if it wasn't obvious. She had never gotten a letter like this from home before, and she felt a lump form in her throat as she looked at it. She could open it here, but...that would be...humiliating. Not only from what she assumed it was going to do, but also because she wasn't really sure how well she was going to react to this.
Krez hurried off, trying her best to avoid other students as she went on a rushed search for a nice private place to open her letter. She didn't want to, but she had no choice, and she was determined not to get caught with this by some other child.
A minute or so of wandering blessed her with her finding the old abandoned restrooms, and she was quick to take advantage of the option given to her as she slipped in as fast as possible. Wasting no more time, she scuttled into a decrepit stall and found a place to sit, not really caring much if it was nasty at the moment.
The moment she opened the letter, as expected, it flew from her hands, morphing into the vague but recognizable shape of a mouth. Krez braced herself from the coming rebuke, closing her eyes and slouching in her seat as the stream of anger and disappointment came her way. The familiar voice of her mother should have made it less harsh, yet it only made the scolding sting more.
It was a long one, growing louder and louder as it continued the tirade her mother had so intricately written for her. She didn't know when this was going to stop, but she felt she wouldn't be able to keep herself composed if it went on any longer.

Eris had been in the great hall, minding her own business, when she had suddenly seen a boy walking very close to her. She had, of course, panicked. Quickly, trying not to alert the boy that she knew he was coming in infect her, Eris had grabbed her bags and followed another gyffindor person towards the bathrooms. She hadn't meant to follow the person with the scarf towards the bathroom, but she had just absently mindedly followed the person to the bathroom. Whoever the person was, he or she was even smaller than Eris, which was a shock to the tiny red-head, who had always been the shortest person in the room. It was impossible to tell if the person was a boy or a girl, as whoever they were, they were wearing a scarf and a sweater. It was strange that they were wearing that much clothing inside, but who was Eris to judge? Most wizards dressed quite oddly, anyways. Perhaps it was just a fashion thing.
Eris was still following behind the person, prepared to turn away and walk down a different hall, when somebody started screaming in a different language. Whatever the woman was saying, it sounded quite funny, but the tone of her voice was anything but funny. Just as Eris turned to walk away, and give the screaming woman space, the screaming got louder, and unable to contain her growing curiosity, Eris darted into the bathroom after the person. She was shocked to find there wasn't a woman sitting in the bathroom, screaming her head off. Instead it was just the person from before. There was some sort of red floaty thing in the air, vaguely making the shape of a pair of lips. Eris watched the lips move, entranced by the strange magic. She didn't understand what the lips were doing, or were the head attached to the lips had gone. Was the person listening to a ghost with no face and just lips talk?
Eris frowned, trying to figure out the situation in her head. Maybe the lips were some sort of wizard telephone and the person's mum or aunt or something was screaming at them over for something. Eris felt a pang of sympathy for the person. She knew all too well what it was like to have your family scream at you, and how much it hurt. She started to walk away, not wanting to intrude on the person's family life, but decided to stay. Maybe the person might need somebody to talk too. Eris's leg started shaking on the floor, as her foot tap-tap-tapped against the stone floor of the abandoned bathroom. She didn't want to seem weird by standing there, but she didn't want the person to feel alone. Eris knew what it was like to feel alone. She had lived on the streets after all, and would never wish struggling with family problems alone on anybody, even tiny gender-less scarf wearing people in an abandoned bathroom.

Kludd was doing one of his favorite activities, sitting in bed and reading. He was really into this book, so of course when Ramona started squawking at him, he just gestured at her to wait a minute. Just one more word- sentence- paragraph- okay maybe page. Chapter. Ya know just the whole dang book. But his bird was in no mood to wait. After another moment or so, she hopped up, perching on the edge of the his book. He looked up at her, and as soon as he did, she snagged his glasses off his face and flew off with them.
"RAMONA OH MY GOD"
Kludd scrambled to his feet, tossing his book to the side and running after her, crashing into the bed post, and then the door frame, just really doing a horrible job at seeing without his glasses. He sprinted down the corridor after, trying to keep the vague black shape in his vision. After nearly tripping about 20 times, and bumping into a few more things and people, Ramona finally lead him into the abandoned bathroom, and then paused. Somewhere in here, there was definitely screaming. Kludd of course, could not discern the source at the moment due to the fact that his bird had stolen his glasses.
Luckily she decided to return them, perching on his shoulder and holding them out for him to take. He shoved them on furiously and gave her a small glare, before really listening in to the yelling and looking around the room for the source. He was a bit shocked to find it was Krez, getting very harshly scolded by a pair of paper lips. His eyes widened in shock, and he stood there a moment before figuring he had to do something other than stare. This must of been about he incident in the library, from what he could gather and logically deduct. He made his way over to her as it seemed like it was almost over, crouching down beside her and gently placing a hand on her shoulder, just to let her know he was there, especially if she needed him. He didn't want her to be alone after that harsh letter.

Thought the scolding was loud and harsh, Krez was still mostly aware of her surroundings and was utterly embarrassed when she heard the tapping of someone's foot outside of the stall she tried to hide in. She sank further into her scarf, trying to pretend they weren't there so she wouldn't feel so humiliated by them hearing all of this. It didn't actually work though, and all she could do is ball up on her seat, wishing she could disappear.
Nearer to the end, when things were really getting heated in the letter, the absolute worst thing she could have imagined happened. A hand was placed on her shoulder, forcing her to peek up from her fortress of clothes to see who it was this time. A lanky student with his hair so iconically placed over one eye. Why did it have to be Kludd? Why did anyone have to come in here right now? It was bothering her more than she wanted it to...
Finally, once the howler had given its final words and torn itself to pieces as per protocol, Krez found she could breathe again. She shivered just a bit, but she refused to look at anything but the ground. Her eyes stung with the need to cry and she internally berated herself for being such a baby about it. Of course she was going to get in trouble for beating some kid up! She didn't honestly think she was going to get away with it, did she? How stupid of her, to think that, and to think she has any right to be upset from receiving it. She had no right to cry. None!
Yet a single tear escaped, slipping its way down her cheek until it met with her scarf. Her arm came up quickly to wipe it and any other potential stragglers away before they could be seen past the curtain her mess of hair created. Krez sniffed once, looking up at Kludd with a forced smirk once she thought she was composed enough to look like she wasn't about to burst into tears.
"Mh?" She did her best to act as if that didn't just happen, as if Kludd hadn't walked in at the worst part, or as if she didn't realize he or whoever else was there had even come in.

Eris stared at the boy as he ran into the bathroom, right past Eris. He didn't even notice her there, and Eris wasn't sure if she should be glad he hadn't spotted her, or sad that she now didn't have an excuse to explain why she was hovering by the entrance of the bathroom, watching a strange genderless person crying while a letter with lips screamed at them. The genderless person might not of been a person though. Eris suddenly wondered if maybe the person was actually a house elf hiding under layers of clothes. Eris had heard about free house-elves working at Hogwarts, and how the free house elves wore way too much clothing. But if the person was a house elf, why was the boy comforting him or her? Eris sighed. This whole thing was so confusing.
Eris watched as the person stared up at the boy, pulling their head out of their layers of clothing to expose the frizzy hair Eris had followed into the bathroom. So maybe not a house elf. Unless it was a house-elf with a wig. You never knew. Eris watched silently, as the letter exploded with a final scream and fell to the floor. Then Eris could hear the sniffling of the person-house-elf-boy-girl-thing and the boy with long-hair patting their shoulder.
Eris took a step towards the stall the two people were in, and swayed back and forth on her feet, before taking another step forward and exposing herself to the duo. She had meant to step forward and say something dignified and all prefect-y, but instead she found herself staring at what might of been a girl under all the clothing, who looked so sad. Eris paid little heed to the boy, as she said in a whisper, "Does your family hate you too?"Eris's face flushed, as she realized what she had said. It was too late to take it back though, and Eris wasn't able to stop time yet. That was probably a third year thing, or something. Eris wouldn't put it past the school to teach their students time-travel. I mean, they did have a giant sun-bathing squid that liked to show off it's tentacles to students. If they had something that weird, what's to say they couldn't have time-traveling magic?
The truth was, Eris had taken one look at the girl's(?) face and saw herself in it. How many times had Eris hid somewhere and cried because of her mother and father? Eris wondered if the person had a family that hated them too. Maybe then the person could live on the streets with Eris, if their family didn't want them. Than Eris wouldn't be alone when she had to go back home. Eris almost felt better for interrupting what was sure to be a private moment, head lost in fantasies of imagining what it would be like to have a friend with her when she returned home, but than remembered that there was a big difference between Eris's experience and this person's. While Eris had been alone in feeling sad and alone, this person had a friend already there to comfort them. Eris's checks flushed red in notification, as she realized the person probably wouldn't want Eris to be there. They already had somebody to help them. They didn't need her.
Eris took a step back, wanting to say sorry for busting into the conversation, but couldn't put together any words in a coherent sentence. She was feeling too exposed. She had revealed too much about herself in the hopes of finding a kindred soul, and now she was going to have to deal with the consequences.

Despite her face being almost entirely covered, Kludd noticed Krez starting to cry, and doing her darned best to keep it together. He didn't think he'd ever see her cry, honestly. She just didn't seem like the type. Though, he supposed, they were all just kids, and that was normal. Sometimes, for a brief moment, he'd forget that. Even just being first years, eleven years old, there was a lot of responsibility with being at hogwarts and doing everything yourself without your parents or anyone around to really take care of you other than the teachers and other authority figures.
But since Krez was really upset, there was really only one thing Kludd could think of to do. He sat fully on the floor beside her, pulling her into a tight hug. He didn't know what to say or anything, it wasn't like it wasn't her fault or she didn't deserve it- she did kinda almost kill a kid. So, he just hugged her. Ever since he was little, that had always been what his mom did when he or his brother were upset. He remembered stumbling across a dead doe a few years back, while him and his brother were playing around their house. Kludd had cried for a really long time after that, and his mom just had to hold him and talk to him about it until he felt better. And that wasn't the first or last time something like that had happened either. At this point, it was just his first instinct for comforting someone else.
After a moment, another girl walked up to the pair. She must have been here already and Kludd just hadn't seen her. Which was very possible, considering he'd walked in here without his glasses on. In a quiet voice, she asked something which Kludd really felt bad hearing. He didn't know this girl, or anything about her, but evidently her parents hated her. To what extent, he couldn't be sure, but she seemed really embarrassed about admitting that. Like she'd done it without thinking and now deeply regretted it.
Once again, he was speechless. No words came to mind, just one simple action. Keeping one arm around Krez, he extended the other to the girl.
"Um, I know I don't know you or anything, but, do you maybe need a hug too?"
He asked, looking up at her with this sad, sympathetic look on his face. He felt bad for both of the two girls and felt extra bad that there wasn't a whole lot he could do for them.

Krez, though physically tense, willingly let Kludd pull her into a hug. She seemed defeated, seeing as her poorly-executed ruse didn't seem to work on him much at all. It wasn't at all very comfortable to her, being hugged by someone other than family in a time like this, though she had kind of wanted to be held somewhat. In her mind, she absolutely did not deserve his sympathy, because really she had unintentionally disobeyed what her parents had instructed her specifically not to do before she had ever left to come to Hogwarts. To top it all off, she still felt a smidge of pride for what happened, and by now it was starting to sicken her.
The longer she thought about it, the more she felt she didn't belong in this gentle embrace. Eventually, she put her hands up against Kludd's chest to push herself away from him, feeling that she was just about to get unreasonably upset if she stayed this way. But, before she could even put any pressure on him, she heard the other girl speak. A sentence she never expected to hear from anyone here.
Did her parents...hate her too?
The implications of that sentence snapped her out of her gloom, and still with her hands on Kludd, she lifted her head to look at the other Gryffindor. Her brows furrowed, portraying her confusion more than her sudden deep concern for this girl. The girl looked embarrassed, and rightly so. Who just admits that kind of thing to a couple of strangers in a bathroom stall? The situation felt a little off in its entirety, but that wasn't Kreszentia's main concern. Krez opened her mouth for a second to speak, but shut it just as fast because even she knew nothing nice was going to come out of it.
Her kind companion asked a much better question, extending his arm out to the poor girl in an offer for her to join in. Though Krez normally didn't give a damn about the majority of these other kids, she felt...actually sympathetic for once. It was hard to imagine one's parents hating them, legitimately. That isn't what parents are supposed to do. If you hate them, then why did you have them in the first place?? It just seemed really stupid on the parent's part to her. Gracious, people could really be horrible.
Krez almost instinctively held an arm out to her as well, beckoning the girl to come join in the hug. Though while Kludd made a nice little offer when he did it, Krez made hers feel less like an option and more like a command, giving the girl an expectant look and waving her over a little bit impatiently.

Eris realized how absurd her comment was, and how odd the situation was when the boy extended an arm to her and asked if she wanted a hug too. Eris hadn't been hugged by anyone in her life but her sister. Wasn't that personal family thing? She shook her head, not wanting to make the situation any more awkward. She had already completely disregarded social conduct by practically appearing out of nowhere and mentioning her family. That was never a good idea to mention her family, but yet Eris had forgotten that in her efforts of making the other girl (Eris was almost sure she was a girl now) feel understood.
Eris met the eyes of the short person, who looked sad but also angry. There was something in the girl's expression that made Eris feel afraid, just a little bit. That look of pure steel and fire in her eyes almost made Eris turn and bolt for the door. But just as before, when she had wanted to run to the door, she stood her ground and stared back at the girl with an expression of dismay. Eris wished she had fire in her eyes like that girl too. Fire deadly enough to keep others away from her. But whatever fire Eris saw in her eyes was diminished by the tear tracks running down the girl's face. Eris wasn't sure if she should just leave now, with the hug invitation looming over her shoulders, but the whole thing was so absurd that the young gyffindor was rendered speechless. Of all the times Eris had made a fool of herself at school so far, this most certainly was the most humiliating and awkward one to boot.
Eris would of stood there all day, if it wasn't for the girl sticking a hand out like a command. Eris understood that if she had walked away from the boy's kind (but extremely awkward and weird) offer of a hug, she wouldn't feel horrible or fear for her life, but something about the awkwardness of the gesture made Eris have the feeling that the girl wasn't in the practice of offering hugs, and that if Eris declined her offer of a hug the girl would get mad. Anger was much easier than being sad, and Eris didn't want to find out what would happen if the lethal anger that radiated off this girl fixed it's sights on her.
Eris took a cautious step forward, bending down to join the hug. It was undeniably the oddest thing the Gryffindor girl had done in her life, but she stayed quiet, not daring to move too much. Her shoulders were clenched, and her body was tight. It was clear she was scared of something going wrong, and that the whole situation was just as odd for Eris as it most likely was for the other two.

So Very Grounded
Kludd felt Krez place her hands on him, like she wasn't too keen on this hug idea. Which was fine, he probably should have asked first anyway. But both of them were a little preoccupied with the girl who'd just admitted her parents hated her. So he just let Krez go, just placing his hand on the floor for now. The other girl seemed really unsure about this whole hug situation. Until Krez stuck her arm out too, and the girl reluctantly joined in.
Kludd just took a moment to really think about all the information, well, the one piece of information, he'd just received. This poor girl, he didn't even know her name, all he knew is that her parents hated her. Why? Why would they possibly hate her? Could you even hate your own child? He'd never thought about it. He'd never had to. It was really, really disheartening to even imagine. It made him feel... honestly a little spoiled? It wasn't like he had no clue the possibility existed, he just didn't know it actually happened. At least not often. Not to anyone he'd ever meet anyway. But yet here he was, now hugging this girl who was a living example of that very thing.
Which, she really didn't seem to enthused about this whole hug business anyway. She was incredibly tense, and didn't look comfortable at all. He looked at her, eyes filled with concern.
"Hey, sorry, I don't know your name but..." Kludd started, then faltered, pausing to consider what to say, "Um, you can relax you know. We've got you. Your family situation sounds... well, it sounds really bad, but at least you here at Hogwarts now right? And you don't have to see them except over breaks 'n stuff, I guess." He was doing his best to be comforting, though he wasn't sure if he was doing a good job. "Sorry, that's not encouraging, but, you get what im trying to say, I hope. And I know we just met, but if you need a friend or just someone to talk to, you can find me, alright? I mean, only if you want. We're still strangers after-all. I'm uh, Kludd, by the way. I'm sorry if that's not the most helpful, i'm just, it caught me off guard." He explained, being pretty honest there at the end. He really didn't have any clue what to say. He just hoped he was contributing somewhat positively to this. He just wanted to help, even a little, despite the fact that there just wasn't much he could do presently.

So Very Grounded
After holding the poor girl hostage in an awkward hug for a few seconds, she released her, but kept a hand on her shoulder for the moment to pat her comfortingly. This was done much less aggressively than her beckoning gesture, as she wanted to console her rather than scare her this time.
Kludd, always the one with nicer words to give, offered himself up as a shoulder to cry on for her. It sounded like a nice idea, better than what Krez wanted to offer, which left her at a loss for words herself. She glanced between her friend and her acquaintance, still trying to think of something she could possibly say to contribute to the conversation...when it finally hit her!
Soon after Kludd admitted to being caught off guard, Krez took hold of her fellow housemate's arm in an uncharacteristically gentle manner. Her face read confusion, concern, and a lingering hint of anger.
"Vhy do zhey hate you?" Krez asked quietly, still doing her best to be considerate instead of hot-headed. She tugged lightly on the girl's arm, trying to wordlessly hint that she wanted her to sit down with them, even if the ground was kinda gross. Nasty or not, she needed her questions answered. Priorities!

Taten sagen mehr als Worte.
