[24] Nico Shymane - trying to claw Opeila, missed. 800 health remains.

@Percival Gray prepared himself to fight. @Nico Shymane pursued the fleeing housemate. Victory was hers, but she did not appear to care about winning but rather making the girl suffer. To punish her. Was it because @Opeila Seilun did not give her the respect Nico deserved? Was it because Opeila did not like her and the dhampir took this as a personal sleight? Was it because she had consorted with their apparent enemy? Because she omitted that incident months ago where she had let Vladimir into their common room.
"Leave Nico to me, deal with the rest of her teammates if they attack you..."
The teen announced. Nico was monologing and attacking.
@Koko Riddle watched on as the melee between Opeila and Nico decimated their chances of victory. A team that had turned on itself. Their opponents were going to let it happen. Koko was going to let it happen.
@Dealla Prince had stayed out of the heart of the fray, watching as her fellow students turned on one another like animals. There was an animosity there that was deeper than just today. that much was obvious as they hashed out old history, previous disappointments and supposed betrayals. As one chased the other as they fled. As claws were bared.
However, Dealla's luck would soon run out.
Opeila would scramble out of the basement.
Nico would remain. As if an unseen force was waiting on the other side, the door would SLAM closed. Behind her a voice would call out. "Nico!" The voice belonged to Percival Gray, one of her other opponents that she had neglected while she focused on Opeila. The girl seemed more than ready to fight, but Percival would try to talk her down. "You still have a choice, leave the fighting area and avoid further pain while you still can" Well, physically she was outside of the ring technically but she was a fighter. She had already fought. She had already thrown her towel in the ring unless she, like Opeila wished to forfeit. "I trust you to make the right decision..."
An ultimatum. An unspoken threat. Stand down or else. Not necessarily the best tactic to take considering the aggression she had just sown her own team mate.
Would they fight or would they stand down?

Nico's long nails would break the girl's tender flesh. It hurt. It bled. The faint scent of blood would fill the air, but the dhampir was already in a frenzy. This was more a boon than a cause. Finally. Finally she managed to hit the girl and invade her bubble of illusionairy safety. The girl had to learn. Opeila had to learn to never cross Nico's path again. To never anger her like this again. To learn that her actions had severe consequences. If she thought that the dhampir would only shrug at whichever came her way, that she'd just let people walk over her, that they could just tell her what to do when it was supposed to be the opposite then the Seer had to think again.
Don't fuck with Nico Shymane.
The dhampir would still be screaming, chasing down the dark haired girl. Yelling over and over what she had been telling the girl earlier but the other party apparantly refused to listen and only saw their own point of view as correct. It frustrated her but Nico now knew that talking to Opeila or even taking her seriously, was a waste of her time and precious energy.
'Yeah! Run. You fucking coward!' Her eyes red in fury glared at the closed trapdoor. In one last moment of rage, the dhampir punched the door. It kinda hurt... But it didn't matter to her. It didn't matter that the door was closed. Atleast the eyesore was gone out of sight. The pain in her wrist was nothing compared to the venom of the spiders she had to endure back in the day. Looking down at her claws, she noticed blood. Nico didn't smile. It wasn't satisfying. She couldn't fully release her anger... It was still there. All because the dark haired child managed to outrun her at certain points.
With an annoyed grunt, the dhampir walked down the stairs, back to the ring.
Since a while, Nico could finally pay attention to her surroundings. The voices. One in particular. Percival Gray. Her red eyes looked at him. He would probably notice that she wasn't as agressive as she was before. The red flag that had been standing infront of her had fled. She heard his words. That she had a choice. That she could stop now.
Her lip quivered and she pinched her eyes closed. When she opened them again, the fire had been put out by bloody tears. Her ice blue hues had returned and the redhead didn't know what was happening to her. Suddenly, the anger had subsided and turned into a sorrow. Into guilt, once more. She had been so busy with focusing on taking out one student that she hadn't paid attention to who needed her. Overcome by this feeling, the prefect fell onto her knees, outside the ring, sobbing into the palms of her hands. Helpless selfhating wails slipped through her pale fingers.

A sharp pain in her face when Nico finally managed to land a hit. Opeila gasped in shock and pain, backed away from the maniac prefect, and finally, finally managed to escape through the trapdoor. One eye was shut as blood from the scratches was running over it. The first year still heard Nico call her a coward. What a very non-slytherin way of thinking. Did the dhampir honestly find it cowardish, that Opeila went to save herself instead of letting herself being cut up by dhampir claws, a weapon that Opeila did not have? Staying would have certainly counted into that self-destructive sort of bravery, Opeila had noticed from certain Gryffindors. It surprised her, that Nico thought that way as well. Maybe she was just screaming nonsense in anger. Either way, both options lowered Opeila's opinion of her intelligence even more.
Opeila would no longer discuss things with Nico. What was the point even, the prefect wanted to rant. She didn't want to hear Opeila's words, no matter what sense they made, she wanted to rant and then a declaration that Opeila was wrong and she was right. An apology. It was surprising how insecure the girl was, as soon as it came to her acts. Pushing it on racism, on fear or dislike towards prefects from Opeila's side. Weak, so, so weak.
Playing victim in the whole attack situation, but what had she ever done to change that? Calling Opeila's involvement in this glory. Acting like Opeila used the attacks to draw attention to herself. Another proof of Nico's seemingly infinite blindness. Opeila was the one, who had handed herself over as test person for her cursed blood, it was her, who suffered immense pain in every session of that one. It was Opeila, who had bite and scratching marks on her hands and arms from the desperate attempts to endure the pain without freaking out. What had Nico done to help? To Opeila it looked like she had been sulking since the bathroom situation. So much for taking responsibility as a prefect.
Nico seemed to become a maniac, an insecure, weak maniac when she didn't have her badge around. And when she had her badge, she was becoming an insufferable wannabe superior. Nico had claimed that she never rubbed her badge in Opeila's face, while Opeila remembered too clearly, how she got scolded for not answering a question that Nico had randomly asked into the room. Not directed to anyone. Nico had emphasized her position twice to Opeila. While this alone would have no big deal, she then, without understanding anything, interrupted Opeila and took over her conversation with Victor, a conversation that Opeila had hoped of getting more information from. It was Nico, who saw it as glory. Who wanted that 'spotlight', even seemed to think that she was in the position to claim it. One that Opeila would gladly hand over, if she only trusted Nico to be capable of dealing with it. Which she now did less than ever.
Blaming Opeila for not owning up for her actions but not doing any better herself. Even worse, while Opeila was at least aware that letting Vladimir into the common room was a wrong thing, it seemed that Nico shut her eyes to every criticism. Blamed it on general prejudices of the other part. Opeila was done with Nico.
As long as the prefect couldn't even consider that there might be a point in criticism from others, Opeila would not be able to like her. That was the sort of strength that Opeila generally expected from people and that Nico was clearly lacking. Except she tried to read an apology into everything. Opeila wouldn't have been surprised, if that sort of search made Nico even angrier. No declaration of how wrong Opeila was. No praising of her acts. No apology. Nico had talked about the letter that Opeila had sent as if it was a failed apology, not even considering that it was not meant to be an apology. It was a request to talk things out. That she had not even replied to. So it seemed like she had expected Opeila to beg for forgiveness and then let her handle all the problems. Nico seemed to forget that her badge didn't come with trust from the students. She still had to earn trust. Prove herself as capable. Something she had failed to Opeila.
Another thing that Nico had seemed to forget, was that the situation she had first heard about this day, was nowhere new for Opeila. Opeila had blamed herself and regretted for weeks. She had been scared for weeks, but taken action to make it right. Something that should weigh more than an apology. Opeila was indeed not blind to her mistakes, but by now she could see, how this would have happened, no matter if she had run into Vladimir that day or not. He had after all two Slytherin friends. One of them made house Slytherin fight amongst themselves right now. How could Nico be so blinded, that she would rather waste all her energy on fighting Opeila, who got tricked into all of it, than fighting Victor, who was knowingly and willingly working for Vladimir? The Slytherin girl would continue to work with the people, who seemed to be able to look beyond their own plate. She really had to talk to Gris again.
Those and and more thoughts flew through her mind, when she went through the trapdoor. Opeila had not quite realized yet, that she had her face scratched open. This sort of injury had not really existed in the child's world so far.
What on earth was wrong with that dhampir?
Shaking a little, Opeila looked around.

Percy was a great believer of speech being the greatest weapon a person could have, it could make the strongest and bravest opponents be at their weakest, and Nico seemed to be a prime example of that. He watched on as her once uncontrollable anger became a flood of tears and sadness before him, a confirmation that he may have just defused the ticking time bomb inside of her. He walked to the ropes and leaned over them slightly, wanting to make sure she heard his words clearly "Now Nico... get somewhere safe and leave the fighting to us" he said with a small nod to her before turning his body around to evaluate the situation that was left in the ring.
He gazed around the fighting area and tried to block out the relentless heckling of the crowd, to him they didn't exist at this current moment. Soon enough, his eyes rested on the girl named Koko Riddle who seemed to have a bone to pick with Dealla Prince. Percy had seen her around the castle a few times but never struck up a conversation with the third year, and probably for good reason. She seemed to be eager to fight considering they had freewill to leave, but it was certainly possible she had a good reason to do so "Koko Riddle!" he shouted a distance away behind her, his arms folded in a serious manner "Most of your team have wisely chose to step away from this fight with dignity, I hope you will make the same choice" he said with a loud sigh as the crowd only shouted louder for them to get the fight going "Leave the fight to us and I promise we will get answers for everyone... don't give these creeps what they want"

Were they even fighting any more? Nico seemed to be out for blood, not against the other team but against her own. Opeila made her way for the trap door to escape Nico's wrath. It was unlikely that they would ever be friends. The crowd was cheering them on of course but Victor looked dumbfounded, baffled really. He intended to cause a disconnect, to damage their teamwork and more importantly to disseminate the truth of the girl's duplicity but he was not looking to get the girl killed just hurt a bit. Some guilt swelled up in her as his attention returned to the ring.
Percival Gray made an appeal to Nico, Koko and Persephone to stand down. To step away from this fight, it was a fool's errand at this point. They could not defeat them, they were outnumbered and had wasted time and resources fighting among themselves. This was a call to end the fight (that nobody is posting in). To walk away with some semblance of dignity.
Has Persephone even walked into the ring? She had squandered a fine opportunity to defeat the other team, while they were standing wide-eyed at the spectacle between Nico and Opeila she could have struck them down. Alas, she wasted her chance to be known as the blonde terror or some other fitting nickname.
Koko had briefly participated in the physicality of the competition but she failed to maintain a presence of note. Was this truly the end of the team? It looked like it might be so.

Have not seen posts by anyone but Nico for the last month from that team as Opeila is gone. Are you submitting to the other team? If so please at the very least tell us this so we can move on. If there is no post, it will be presumed that you left the ring if you were standing in the ring so we can move on.

Aah, my apologies - this completely slipped my mind.
The feeling when her fist hit Dealla was surprising. Koko had expected something akin to a rush of joy at the punch, but as she backed away, her knuckles throbbing, a wave of remorse washed over her. She ducked her head, turning away (a stupid move on her part, yes, but what was she meant to do?) as she bit her lip in despair. She'd hit someone. She'd truly become the very person she loved to hate.
And, she thought, it wasn't as awful as she'd thought it might be. Sure, it was punching someone. Sure, her hand ached now. But... She would do it again to get what she wanted.
Koko heard her name shouted, and she turned to meet the gaze of a Slytherin boy who looked vaguely familiar. She'd seen him around the Common Room before, she thought, but she couldn't have been entirely sure. Perhaps it'd been the Dorm Battles.
She frowned. "They have what I want, though," she said, her voice clear and loud. "They have an answer to any question. Think of what could be found out through that." Koko paused, stepping further away. "It might be worth it, just to win. Don't you think so?"

Pain pulsed through her stomach from where the girl's fist connected, and Dealla's breath left her in a rush. She bet forward, gasped for air.
Not that she'd doubted it, but that hurt. Dealla had experienced pain before, certainly, but that had been the pain of accidents, of stumbling and falling, of fire and burns, or of accidentally cutting herself open on knives or glass. She'd never had anyone intentionally punch her, not in any serious way, at least. This punch had been targeted and intentional, and that, much more than the pain, made anger bubble up inside of her. It made her want to fight back.
But it wasn't quite enough yet to let her lose sight of what they were doing here, not enough to cancel out the jeering crowd around them. Not enough yet to beat out her pride that wouldn't let her provide them with more entertainment.
It didn't help that her words went entirely ignored, the girl who had attacked her only reacting to her teammate instead of her.
They had what she wanted? Well, fantastic. Surely that attitude would get her through the other fights to come. Her team was down by two, and her last teammate hadn't even shown her face.
"So what?" Dealla gasped, one hand still pressed to her stomach, but straightening up and shaking her hair out of her face. "You think you're going to get through three fights, and then fight Vladimir, and win, all by yourself? You don't seem like that much of a fighter to me." There was a slight sneer on Dealla's face, although she tried to fight it down. She had to be the rational one here, if the other wasn't. "I'm not sure what exactly happened to your House, what the business was between Opeila and Nico, but if your question has anything to do with that, have you ever thought that your question might be pretty similar to what the other people in your House would ask? And if it's not - what makes you think Vladimir has the answer?"
Her eyes strayed to the red-headed girl who had broken down next to the ring, and something like regret, maybe doubt, bubbled up inside of her. Maybe she should follow her own advice - and step away. But again - not yet.
She refocused on the girl who had attacked her, her bright blue eyes clear and intent. "I doubt I'll make it to the end, either, but if I do, I'd be happy to let someone else ask the question. I'm not sure you'd be getting a useful answer, anyway."

It was understandable why Koko was stubborn in defence of her ideals, but there was a thin line that separated desperation and stupidity. The odds were certainly stacked against her at this point, and there had to be a thought that there was no way in overcoming this uphill battle. Percy slowly shook his head and noticed that was backing away from them, almost as if she was getting ready for them to attack. Not only was she putting herself at risk, but harming the other students chances of getting to the next round unharmed "I get it Koko, you're desperate to unveil the truth like the rest of us. Although, don't you think trying now would be fruitless?" he said as he carefully walked closer to the girl, his eyes locked on her for any movements "Not only would it damage our chances, but yours too. If you really want answers, surrender now and let us go through to the next round unharmed"
At this point, the boy had gotten an arms length away from the third year. He made sure to let his arms to hang loosely to show he wasn't a threat in the hopes she would take head of his words "Please don't make this into a slaughter Koko, i'm sure the prick up there would take pleasure in watching that happen" he said before shooting a cold stare up to Victor, a devious grin being sent up to him in a way of sending a message of things to come. When Percy looked back to Koko and motioned her to exit while she still could, the crowd only got restless from the lack of entertainment going on in front of them. One word could only describe them... animals

@Koko Riddle wanted what everyone wanted, answers. People rarely consider the value of information, but it is a commodity as great as silver and gold. The problem was, there was one question and one answer. There were many students here attached to not only glory but also the promise of answers. Koko wanted her question to be answered and deserved to know as much as the rest of them. she was willing to fight for it. she was willing to become someone else. To reach her ambition by any means, after all she was a Slytherin.Group 3

@Percival Gray would urge her to stand down still. He understood her want to reach the end but she was not willing to fight. Not that he was either it would appear. It would be an easy task to take the girl down, she lacked the fighting spirit necessary to take him down. Time was passing, they were getting nowhere. Percival would look over at Victor, the sadist that had put them all down here and pitted them against one another. Victor did not move nor did he offer an explanation. Perhaps he did not hear him. Perhaps he did not care.
@Dealla Prince was still reeling from the assault. Koko could really pack a punch. She was tough but she was not tough enough to make it. One girl, three rungs and then Vladimir. That was not possible. Koko was never going to make it all the way, not with her rival teamates - one had already fled the arena and the basement. The other, her fighting spirit lost once her antagonist had departed. It was logical as a Ravenclaw would likely profess to let them through. The favored team. It was obvious that Koko's team was fated to fail. Bitter enemies would never work together and what Victor had injected into their squabble only amplified their animosity and gave them a reason. Rather than put aside their differences, the both of them had incredible potential, they tore one another down. Egos are fragile and blood can be drawn with ease.
She asked a few basic questions. She urged Koko to think things through. Did Vladimir even have the answers? Then what did she want from a boy she barely knew? Answers of course.
The girl had two choices -- fight and likely fall or let them pass.
