A Kitten in the Library? Preposterous!
Nessa roamed the expansive library, her uniform was fitted perfectly, although she'd left her hat at the dormitories. Today was a great day to pull up a new book and start reading. Lunch time was right around the corner, and she'd asked the spells professor if the girl could go to the library to study. The professor had been wary of course, because it was typically unheard of for a Gryffindor to study at all, much less go to a library and read.
It was a blasphemous stereotype and Spriggin hated it. She was a smart girl, taking to books more than anything else as a child.
Before long though, she'd found herself lost in the maze of shelves, hand on her wand as a thump, thump, thump came from around the next corner. Nessa may not know any spells, but that didn't mean that she couldn't bluff her way out of a situation.
Her heart raced as she peeked around the corner, eyes scouring the piles of books stacked atop the tables that were spaced evenly throughout the libraries shelves.
"Oh. Well then, hello there little kitty... why'd you knock these books off? That's kinda dangerous. You could've hurt yourself." She whispered, halfway between wanting to pet the cat and wanting to fix the books that had been unkindly knocked off.
She settled for picking the books up.
As she picked the books up and straightened the little corridor of shelves, the cat stuck around, seemingly waiting on her... or someone else.

OOC: Feel free to come in if you'd like. The cat is just there and has no real significance lol

A Kitten in the Library? Preposterous!
@Nessa Spriggin
Whenever Jax let his mind wander, it took him into strange places. And it wandered often. Now, while sitting perched on top of one of the shelves, a black sketchbook propped up against his knees, bottle of ink open and quill clutched tightly between pale fingers, he was thinking of jewelry. Namely, how to draw it.
His hands were trembling slightly as the quill moved around the page in quick, sharp movements, leaving behind clean black lines. The only light he was being shed on the page by the tip of his wand. A wand which he'd used to hold up his hair in a messy man bun. Why exactly was he sketching jewelry? He had absolutely no idea. It was simply something to fill his time with while the long hours of the day. He'd quit going to classes a few weeks before. Everyone expected Ravenclaws to be oh, so smart. And he wasn't smart. If one were to be frank, Jax was probably going to end up dead in a ditch at some point, owing thousands of dollars and addicted to cocaine. Maybe the old hat was finally going insane. There was no way he should have been put in Ravenclaw.
The tattletale signs of trouble were already starting to show up, from the tiny stick and poke tattoos which littered his hands and crawled their way down his thighs to rest on his ankles, to the pocket knife he carried around everywhere and the vicious anger which was always in his eyes, boiling underneath his skin. Sure, he was only eleven, but the system twisted kids. Made them grow up way faster than they should have. And for the first nine years of his life, that was where he'd been.
The thump of books startled him, making his hand jerk back and knock the tiny bottle full of ink. A stream of curses which should not by any means be coming from an 11 year old left his lips as he rushed to cast Reparo on the broken bottle. It was one of the first spells he'd learned and it continued to be useful to that day.
Looking down to see what in Satan's name had caused the noise, his icy blue gaze met that of a chick, who was busy picking set books up. Oh. "You good?" he called out from high above her, on top of the bookshelf. It was one of the smaller ones which had been added after the original bookshelves had all been filled. It didn't reach all the way to the ceiling, but it was still ridiculously high. From where he was, all the girl would have been able to see was the mess of hair which was framing his face like a black waterfall, his black hoodie with a purple and blue dragon on it, and a set of icy blue eyes.

A Kitten in the Library? Preposterous!
The girl wasn’t aware of the person that’d been sitting above her, having not even bothering to look up. Who in their right minds would be insane enough to climb one of these old, creaky bookcases?
Well, apparently this boy was because the string of curses that had left his mouth made her jaw drop. If she’d ever been caught saying those words she’d be held down and her mouth cleaned out with the disgusting tang of soap.
”Where is Gods’ names did you even learn those particular phrases?” she giggled slightly, for the first time in months really, and smiled up at the mop of black hair. She’d noticed the ink dripping down the bookcase, pointing at it with a comically stern look on her face. ”I hope you’re planning on cleaning that up, young man!” she quoted the librarian who’d reprimanded her for bringing snacks into the library a few times before.
Maybe this mysterious boy in the dragon hoodie would be willing to help her find a good book to read. ”And yeah I’m fine,” she chuckled before continuing. ”How in Gods’ names did you even get up there in the first place? Oh mysterious boy?” She asked him, completely serious about the question.
If she wanted to, she could probably swing herself up there in no time, but she wasn’t currently going to entertain that thought by acting on it. Instead, she waited for answers to her questions.

Jax frowned, noticing the ink as well. "Now that could be a problem," he said, very carefully pointing his wand at it. He was growing more and more dependent on the wooden stick, and it wouldn't be doing him any favors in the long run. "Wingardium Leviosa," he ordered, making sure he was pointing his wand at the ink rather than the bookshelf itself (THAT would have been problematic).
Sure enough, the ink bobbed off the bookshelf, hanging in the air for him to collect with the now-repaired jar. "Can't have my best tattoo ink ruined on some books," he mumbled to himself, screwing the lid back on as tightly as humanly possible before dumping it back in his bag. And then proceeded to jump down. It was a high drop, higher than he was used to, and he'd probably have broken his legs under normal circumstances. But hogwarts was anything but normal. and he'd cast a cushioning charm at the bottom of the bookshelf on his way up, a few hours before.
"The foster system, that's where," he informed her, putting his wand back in his hair and shaking the dust out of his clothes. "And being gay means I get cussed at a lot." As he was talking, he adjusted his hood slightly, covering up the painful looking bruises Alyx had left on him. Dude had gotten wind Jax was a bundle of sticks and jumped at the occasion.
"You can use the shelves for the most part, if you've got good grip. But what I did was make my bag float and sat on top of it. Work smart, not har- Is that a cat?"
Kneeling down in front of it, Jax pulled out a napkin from his pocket and held it out. It had a few pigs in a blanket and cheese, in case he needed to bribe any of the pixies outside. He'd taken to carrying food with him everywhere. It was always good to have something to bargain with. The cat in question hesitated, looking up at him with huge yellow eyes before padding over and starting to rub up against him, purring as he fed it pieces of hot dog. "What's your name," he asked it in a perfectly regular voice, as if talking to another human. The cat sat down in front of him solemnly, ears at attention. "Dockson," it replied.
Jackson nodded, as if he talked to cats every day. "And what's your name?" he asked the chick.

Nessa, upon hearing the boy speak, perked up just a little bit. He knew spells already? What the heck? She peered up at him, mouth quirking into a smile as the ink bottle repaired itself. ”Cool.” She muttered to herself, just quiet enough for the kitten to hear her but not the boy, who was still sitting on the bookshelf at the time.
She gasped when he jumped, afraid that he’d hurt himself. ”I uh-” She stammered, right before he settled onto an invisible pillow… Weird. ”What spell was that? Or was it a charm?” She inquired, indicating where he’d landed.
”You’re gay? Cool.” The response wasn’t meant to sound so eager… but it came out that way.
”You can use the shelves for the most part, if you've got good grip. But what I did was make my bag float and sat on top of it. Work smart, not har- Is that a cat?” The mop of black hair had bent down, talking to the cat. Or was it a cat?! Was it a familiar or something? She hadn’t a clue, opting to lean down with him. ”Oh… Are you someone’s familiar?” She asked, hand going to grab a piece of cheese from the boy's roll of cloth, offering it to the kitten.
”Hello Dockson!” She smiles, reaching out to pet the cute feline.
”And what's your name?” He inquired, while Nessa's hands tangled in her robes after she heard the question. ”Nessa, and you?”

A Kitten in the Library? Preposterous!
Heather walked into the library with, a couple of girls following her. They were all giggling about something Heather said, before getting shushed by the librarian. Heather smiled at them and whispered, "I really need to study for the upcoming charms test." She motioned her head towards the pile of books in her arms, "I'll talk to you in the Great Hall later, okay?" Both of the girls, while disappointed, nodded and said a quick goodbye, before scurrying out of the library.
Heather Mongrove was your typical Hufflepuff. She was social, fairly popular, and exceedingly kind to anyone. She had all the good traits...except for intelligence. When it came to that, she was a typical airhead blonde, emphasis on airhead. She had come to the library to study for her tests, hoping that she'll somehow get a passing grade, before hearing the faint whispers of two students and the meows of...a cat? She walked slowly over to where the noises were, and saw two students. A Gryffindor and a Ravenclaw.
She noticed the cat in front of the Ravenclaw and guessed it was his. "That's such a cute kitty!" She whispered excitedly, placing her books on top of a dresser, forgetting about the test immediately. "Does the librarian know it's in here?" She kneeled in front of both of them, placing her braids behind her back, so that the cat didn't try to use them as a toy.

Dockson turned up his nose in the air, seeming gravely offended. "Familiar? Hmpf. I'll have you know I have no need for a human. You should be grateful I have chosen to bless you with my presence." Getting up, the small cat turned around and made to leave, the tip of his tail twitching in the air. However, the presence of a newcomer ruined the effect of his exit. "CUTE?" he demanded, ears flattening against his head, barring his fangs in a hiss. "Don't call me cute. I am the scariest creature in place."
Jax meanwhile, had stood up and shoved his hands in his pockets, watching the event unroll with a raised eyebrow. It wasn't often that he talked to people, this having been the longest conversation he carried out all week. Icy blue eyes took in the newcomer, stopping at her gorgeous hair. God, she was beautiful. Nearly rivaled the first girl. Nearly.
It didn't look like he was about to get anymore drawing done, the library having slowly but surely filled up with people. So he did what he always did when there were too many souls gathered in one place. He left. Didn't say anything to the girls whom he assumed could entertain themselves. A smile in each of their directions served for a goodbye.
The cat, for whatever strange reason, followed.

Heather noticed the boy leaving, and was about to ask where he was going before realizing the girl was there. "We should go after him!" Heather smiles, showing her perfect white teeth, "He seems mysterious, and mysterious is cool!" She looks back and saw that he was no longer in the library. Sighing, because it would be almost impossible to find him now unless he came back for something, she turned towards the girl again.
"I'm Heather." She informed her, "Heather Mongrove! Are you a first year too? I hope so, I really want to meet more first years and make friends. I love making friends if you can't tell!" She started talking a mile a minute, it would be hard to shut her up now. Unless you were the librarian, who shushed the blonde girl. Heather turned towards them, letting out a quiet, "Sorry!" Before turning back to the Gryffindor girl, "Such a drag!" She whispered quietly, "Am I right?"
Before even giving her time to answer, she giggled, "Anyways! I told you my name, time for you to tell me yours! You're a Gryffindor, right? What's that like? Are you, like, arrogant or something? I hope not! My older siblings were Gryffindor, and they're as arrogant as can be. It's so annoying! Unless you're arrogant yourself, then it's fine!" The blonde girl rambled, before stopping to breathe.

A Kitten in the Library? Preposterous!
When she looked over at the entrance to the row of shelves- the one that she'd come through- a blonde girl with braids was standing there. Staring at Dockson. Dockson of course,
Glancing at the books the girl had so hazardously dropped onto one of the side tables. In the dim lighting it looked as if she were attempting to study... CHARMS?! She was absolutely going to fail- unless someone were to help her.
Nessa, upon hearing the cats refute's of being called cute, quirked one more smile. Her hands played with the tips of her hair as the new girl- Heather, was it? - rambled a mile a minute. Nessie glanced down at the pendant that was stuck to Heather's robes, the fact that this chatterbox was a Hufflepuff click after a second or two. "Ohh... a Hufflepuff, right?" She asked, a second of complete and utter stupidity dawning on her before the girl could call her siblings arrogant. Heather's sentences started to bleed together, Nessa no longer able to keep up with the girl as her lips were moving as fast as a freaking cheetah on steroids.
"I mean... I wouldn't call myself arrogant anymore than the next, but what I do see is some Charm's homework that you might need help with." Nessa's words were stretched out so that the girl would have to take note of someone other than herself speaking.

Heather smiled, taking a couple of deep breaths, "Oh my goodness, yes!" She exclaimed, getting shushed by the librarian once again and then lowering her voice down to a whisper, "I'm so bad at Charms- well I'm bad at all the subjects but that's beside the point!" She smiled, grabbing her Charms book, "We have a test coming up and a can't fail!" Sighing desperately, "Can you please help? If I fail my mum will kill me!"
Even though her mother loved her, she was extremely strict when it came to education. It didn't help that both of her older siblings passed all the classes with flying colors. Her mother had high expectations when it came to the academics of her children. Heather was never really worried about her grades until she got a letter from her mom saying that if she didn't pass she'd be sent to Beauxbatons and away from all of her friends. Not like it wouldn't be hard for Heather to make new friends, she was very social, but she loved her friends here, and it would be a pain to have to start all over, so she needed to pass her charms test, and most likely every test coming after. Maybe if she paid attention in class she wouldn't need help studying, but that's beside the point.
