Liz watched anger shoot into the girls expression when she mention 'blood traitors' but it quickly changed to surprise. "You-you do?" Liz nodded warily at this, not knowing if the girl was gonna reject her, but Laurie quickly continued. "Whichisgreat! Uh, I really want to be your friend too." Liz watched her scratch her neck and then shove her hands into her pockets as her face grew red.
The blonde was surprised and kinda disappointed in herself. She had always prided herself on her harshness towards Muggle-Borns and Half-Bloods and yet here she was, about to start a friendship with the enemy. At least she was half pure-blooded. That made Liz feel a bit better about talking with her. And old Pure-Blooded too! Maybe it wasn't so bad? At least there was magic blood running through her veins, and not just pure muggle blood.
After this quick contemplation Liz nodded firmly to herself and said, "Awesome! We are going to have so much fun. Just um...lets not mention the Half-Blood thing to my family. They may disown me for even talking to you, let alone starting a relationship." She chuckled and let a smile spread across her face. She walked over to the female and got in her personal space, putting their faces inches apart, a wicked grin spreading across her face.
"I'm gonna gain so many more points than you. You don't even know. And I may show up outside your dorm in the middle of the night so we can go on midnight adventures! OH! And when it gets cold out we can play in the snow together!", she excitedly placed her hands on the brunettes shoulders, shaking her very gently. She was buzzing with giddiness now. She let her go and twirled around in a circle, blonde hair flying around her and skirt twirling in the wind. It was like a switch had flipped and she was now a whole new person. Excited and loud, ready to take on the world with her awesome new friend.

Liz nodded and said "Awesome! We are going to have so much fun. Just um... let's not mention the Half-Blood thing to my family. They may disown me for even talking to you, let alone starting a relationship."
The blonde chuckled but Lauren's heart still felt a little heavy from her words. She didn't dwell long on it because Liz walked over to her. They were oh so very close and Lauren could hear her own heartbeat in her ears. The other girl stared into her seeming to make her final desition to overlook Lauren's 'lower blood status'.
"I'm gonna gain so many more points than you. You don't even know. " Lauren's face went from flustered to challenging. 'Oh we are going to have so much fun' Lauren thought to herself.
"And I may show up outside your dorm in the middle of the night so we can go on midnight adventures! OH! And when it gets cold out we can play in the snow together!", Liz exclaimed excitedly as she placed her hands on Lauren's shoulders, shaking her slightly. The other girl was buzzing with happiness as she twirled around. 'There she is." Lauren thought, thinking back to earlier when she thought she saw something more in the blonde's eyes.
Lauren just chuckled, amused again by the girl's giddiness and said "Oh, you're on! I'd like to see you try and get more points than me." Lauren said smirking before playfully saying, "You're going to get me into a lot of trouble aren't you"

With a chuckle and a smirk Lauren responded to Liz's challenge with "Oh, you're on! I'd like to see you try and get more points than me.", and then playfully said "You're going to get me into a lot of trouble aren't you" Liz's heart swelled. Her eyes seemed to light up at the last sentence from the girls mouth.
"Oh for sure. But I don't think you will be complaining. Plus. You will most definitely get me into trouble as well. I guess we better get ready for tons of detentions together!" Liz exclaimed and laughed loudly. She twirled around one more time. It was very obvious she was excited for this. Liz was still slightly confused at why after all her years of being taught that these traitors were bad, she had been able to drop it so easily for this girl. Not that she didn't still believe that Lauren was somehow slightly below her. But shaking these thoughts off and scolding herself for always overthinking things Liz looked at Lauren.
"You know...you are a Hufflepuff. I really see it in you. You are super sweet and nice and you are willing to give me a chance. And you know...you just are super Hufflepuff! Like I said. I'll meet some kids and Oh My Lord they seem to not be anywhere near how their house should act. Especially in Slytherin. We have a lot of push-overs when we are supposed to be head strong and cunning. Not that...there's anything wrong with being a pushover. It's just not really Syltherinish? You know?" Liz hoped she hadn't somehow offended Laurie. Not everyone took too kindly to her gossiping nature and mind-set on the Houses and Blood Statuses.
She stomped one of her feet into the sand, sending it flying. She looked up at Lauren, a renewed wicked grin on her face. She bent down and picked up a tiny sprinkle of sand and then gently flung it at the brunette, aiming low so that she didn't hit the other girls face. She hoped this would help with her earlier statement about the houses, in case it rubbed Lauren the wrong way. But Liz had never known how to keep her mouth shut and Lauren should probably get used to that if they were going to be friends. Liz was opinionated and she couldn't change that just for this girl, no matter how pretty.

"Oh for sure. But I don't think you will be complaining. Plus. You will most definitely get me into trouble as well. I guess we better get ready for tons of detentions together!" the blonde exclaimed and laughed.
Lauren laughed with her and then started to think of all the different adventures they could go on. She thought about climbing trees in the forbidden forest, having snowball fights in the courtyards, flying on broomsticks through the air. Lauren then wondered if Liz even liked quidditch. ‘She must do, everyone likes quidditch.' Lauren thought.
Her thoughts then travelled back to the conversation before. She half wondered if Liz would just abandon her once she realizes she can no longer overlook the blood status thing. Or will she even treat Lauren differently now that she knows? Lauren is taken out of her internal panic when Liz continues speaking, "You know...you are a Hufflepuff. I really see it in you. You are super sweet and nice and you are willing to give me a chance. And you know...you just are super Hufflepuff! Like I said. I'll meet some kids and Oh My Lord they seem to not be anywhere near how their house should act. Especially in Slytherin. We have a lot of push-overs when we are supposed to be headstrong and cunning. Not that...there's anything wrong with being a pushover. It's just not really Syltherinish? You know?"
Agreeing with most of what the blonde had said, Lauren chuckled, forgetting her fears from earlier. A 'super Hufflepuff?' Lauren thought with a slight laugh. "You're cute," Lauren says before realizing that, yes, she did just say that out loud. Trying to recover what dignity and shred of 'smoothness she had left' She quickly added with a wink, "but sweet? You haven't really got to know me yet."
Lauren’s head buzzed with happiness and a little embarrassment at her slip-up as she gazed over the lake once more. However, she wasn’t really given a chance to admire it because the next thing she knew was a clump of sand was being flung at her, hitting her side. She gasped and before Liz had a chance to throw any more sand Lauren stepped almost right into the water, shoes and all, and sent a splash of it towards the Slytherin.
"Take that!" She said jokingly and laughing loudly along with her.

What next came out of the girls mouth was not something Liz was expecting at all. "You're cute," Liz's pale face lit up with blush and she quickly placed her hands on her cheeks to try and hide their redness. Lauren seemed to realize what she had said and quickly continued with, "but sweet? You haven't really got to know me yet." Winking as she did so. Liz huffed out a laugh and responded quickly with Well I hope I get to., still trying to hide her blush.
She quickly forgot about it when her sand chunk successfully hit the other girl she laughed loudly but then squealed when she was splashed with water. She looked down at her wet skirt for a moment as the other girl said, "Take that!" She carefully brought her eyes up to meet Laurens. "Oh you're gonna regret that.", she said and then ran into the shallows.
She knew full well that this might get the two girls into trouble, but she didn't care at the moment. She leapt into the shallows and gasped as the cold water licked at her feet and ankles. She stood there doing a little dance, trying to get used to the cold. She made quite an ugly face at the temperature of the water, not really thinking this through before she had done it. It was too late now. The Slytherin finally felt more comfortable and rolled up the sleeves of her shirt and smirked up at Lauren. She then used her forearms to send a large wave of water in the direction of the brunette.
She always went overboard in her revenges. Growing up with as many siblings as she had, she had learned that you should always try and come off on top in everything, including light-hearted water fights with her friend she just made. The blonde stood up, watching her wave hurtle at Laurie. Liz's skirt and the ends of her sleeves were drenched at this point, as well as the end of her green tie. How she was going to explain this to her dorm mates? She has no idea.

Lauren watched with full amusement as the girl in front of her stood in the rather cold water, uniform getting soaked. When the blonde made a face at the temperature, Lauren started to regret her decision in starting this little war of theirs.
She chuckled and watched as Liz rolled her sleeves up and braced for the cold wall of water that she knew was about to come. The water was freezing and Lauren could feel the slight breeze in the air even more now that her clothes were wet and sticking to her skin. She knew she had lost and badly but didn't feel the need to challenge her opponent anymore. She may not be a Ravenclaw but she wasn't an idiot.....and the water was really cold. "Truce," She said holding her hands up in surrender but still grinning widely.
They stood in silence for a moment, stood in the lake, staring at each other, before Lauren burst out laughing at the absurdity of their situation. They had gone from arguing to throwing water at each other as best friends would. She could hardly believe it.
'What a day' Lauren thought happily to herself. However, seeing as the sun was starting to get lower and lower in the sky Lauren knew they best be getting back to the castle soon.
She trudged out of the water, grabbing her discarded robes and putting it on. She reached down to grab her bag before looking back over at Liz and offering her, her green robes.
"It's getting late, we should probably start heading back," Lauren said with a brilliant smile on her face. She hoped the girl would walk back with her or perhaps even offer to hang out with her again in the future.

Liz let out a loud shout when Lauren raised her hand and said "Truce." She did a small little dance in a circle before hopping out of the freezing water. She also stared at Lauren and once the other started laughing so did she. She also agreed that they were absolutely insane. The two girls had had only a brief time in which they had fought. And now here they were throwing water at each other. Liz was still snorting with laughter when Lauren said,
"It's getting late, we should probably start heading back," Liz looked up at the sky and was surprised when she realized the sun was beginning to set and dinner was probably soon. Or maybe it had even started already. She looked at Lauren and smiled gently, taking her robes from the other girls hand and putting them on. She went over to her shoes and picked up the little tin and tucked it into a pocket. She buttoned up her shirt and tightened her tie just a bit. However she didn't put her shoes back on.
Instead she threw her socks on and then held her shoes in one hand. Walking back over to Lauren she held out her hand happily. "Lets walk back together and we can keep talking. Ooo! And we should come out here sometime during the night. Or explore the corridors together at night! It would be so fun! Maybe we have a class together and we didn't realize it!" she said excitedly.
She wriggled her fingers, waiting for Lauren to take her hand. Suddenly she wondered if that was weird. Was it weird that she wanted to hold this other girls hand? It's not like this was anything. She just wanted to be friends with Laurie. Best Friends. Yeah totally only Best Friends she convinced herself. She was about to start pulling her hand back and was ready to come up with an excuse for her "weird" behavior.

Lauren watched patiently as Liz grabbed her stuff. It was really quite amazing that the girl could make herself look presentable again when all Lauren could manage was an 'at least I'm wearing clothes' look. She smiled at Liz as the girl did up her tie and clutched her shoes in her hands. That puzzled Lauren slightly.
'Why isn't she putting her shoes on? She's going to step on a sharp stick or something and I am not going to carry her all the way back to the castle...unless she asked...' Lauren thought, her face burning at the thought.
However, she doesn't dwell on it long because Liz is holding out her hand and saying, "Let's walk back together and we can keep talking. Ooo! And we should come out here sometime during the night. Or explore the corridors together at night! It would be so fun! Maybe we have a class together and we didn't realize it!". The excitement in the blonde's voice makes Lauren's heart melt and think,
'She really does want to be my friend'
Liz starts to wriggle her fingers, waiting for her to take her hand when Lauren realizes she is just staring at the poor girl.
Lauren adjusts her bag on her shoulder before grasping Liz's hand and looping their arms in each other so that the two of them were a little closer. She figured this way they were less likely to get cold, as they were both soaking wet. She hopes she hasn't overstepped but has a feeling she hadn't. Lauren just beams at the girl, giving Liz ample time to pull her arm away.
As she starts to walk, Lauren also says, "I hope we have a class together! That would be really nice." She says smiling at the thought before continuing, "We definitely need to come up with a plan to sneak out to go stargazing. I heard the night sky here is unbelievable!"

Right as Liz's anxiety, which was usually non-existent, hit a peak Lauren finally took her hand. And even better she locked their arms together. This made Liz's face light up with renewed blush. She really hoped the fading light hid it. Making sure she had everything she began their walk back to the castle, sticking close to Laurens side. She made sure their arms stayed looped. She really liked it, not that she would say that out loud.
Liz was so glad she had decided to walk today. She had ran into a brand new friend, who did make her feel other ways, but that was a problem for another time. Right now she was just going to enjoy their leisurely stroll and chat. "I hope we have a class together! That would be really nice."Laurie smiled when she said this. Liz really thought her smile was pretty. This thought made her own smile appear. The brunette continued, "We definitely need to come up with a plan to sneak out to go stargazing. I heard the night sky here is unbelievable!"
Liz gasped loudly. "Wait really?! I love the stars! Where I lived in Ireland we saw the stars every night. They are so pretty! I haven't seen them at all since I got here and it really sucks. They are amazing to look at. We should totally do that! We could get food from Dinner and then sneak down here together and watch the stars and maybe even swim! I love swimming and it's crazy because I hate the summer, but love the Winter!"Liz realized she was rambling. She seemed to do that quite often around Laurie.
This new girl really made Liz nervous and this was not normal for Liz at all. She didn't really know what these feelings were as she had never really met any kids outside of her family, minus the one friend she had as a child. But they had fallen out of touch, plus Liz had never felt anything like this for anyone else. It was weird for her. Now a crush would never cross her mind. She was taught love was between a woman and a man, Now sure she may have found pictures of a few select women hot, but that was a normal thing right? Girls can find other girls cute and not be gay? Right? Right?, she thought.
