First Year Fears
Oh wow, it seems Tina was in the middle of quite a large family! Unfortunately, it seemed like some strange luck of the draw on who had magic and who didn't. Sure, it was more common for magical folk to have magical children, but how in the world did that work for muggle-borns? She felt her stomach drop some as she thought that it might not be the case for Tina's whole family. Only time would tell. Starlee did her best to respond.Interacting with @Martyna Romero & @Elizabeth Isaacs
"I'm not entirely sure how it works... It seems to be just the luck of the draw, unfortunately." Starlee ends this abruptly, as she wasn't sure how the other first-year would feel about it. She wasn't one to lie just to make others feel better, better to be blunt about it.
They had moved on to talking about classes, and Tina had expressed interest in Defence Against the Dark Arts. Definitely not her top choice, she was definitely more of a healer. "I honestly can't wait for lessons either!" Starlee said excitedly. "I think I am most excited for Potions... perhaps Herbology too! I love taking care of plants! I can't wait to learn more about how to use them."
"Did you have to do non-magic lessons? Like, Maths and English? And Science?" Starlee thought back to her upbringing. With a muggle mother who was also very educated, it was practically expected of her to study muggle subjects, especially with her older brother being a squib.
"Oh yes," she began to respond, looking at Tina feeling somewhat special as Tina stared intently back at her. "With my brother being a squib, they played it safe with me and put me in the same private school as my brother. But even if my brother was magical, my mother practically insisted on having all her kids be taught muggle lessons. I rather enjoyed it though! I do really love learning..." she blushed a little as she completed that sentence, feeling a bit nerdy.
"You want this? It's strawberry jam." Starlee smiled and pulled out a sandwich of her own: a BLT. "Thanks, but no thanks! Jam isn't really my thing. My mom decided to pack me my favorite, a BLT, just for the trip!" She began to unwrap her sandwich and took a bite, reveling in how delicious it was.
It was then another girl opened the compartment door. Another blonde, but she looked somewhat more stern. She was also somehow even shorter than Tina, which meant she would certainly struggle even more with her trunk. "Hi. I'm Elizabeth, Elizabeth Isaacs. So um...all of the other compartments are filled up. So may I sit here?" The new girl seemed to be staring daggers at Tina. Starlee wouldn't believe that someone would be rude for no reason, so she would have to see what was up.
Starlee looked at Tina, and after taking another bite from her BLT, she said "I see no problem with that Elizabeth! Do you Tina? My name is Starlee Kennedy." She said, cocking her head to the side sweetly with a smile, putting on her 'aren't I adorable' face.

Tina's eyes widened. That BLT...
It looked stunning.
She wasn't even sure what a BLT was, or what the letters stood for, but her best guess was 'beautiful, lovely tasty'. Suddenly, her slightly squished jam sandwich wasn't so spectacular anymore. She was just about to ask Starlee if she was sure she didn't want that one slice of Tina's jam sarnie, because it was very nice, and it would be quite fun to go half and half, when the door of their carriage slid open, and a rather small, skinny girl made her way inside.
"Hi. I'm Elizabeth, Elizabeth Isaacs. So um...all of the other compartments are filled up. So may I sit here?"
The first thing Tina noticed was that outfit. It was so well put together! She looked like one of those child models in a Next clothing catalogue, or something, especially with those pretty earrings. All this Elizabeth needed was a pair of shades and a power pose and she'd complete the package! It did make her feel a bit self conscious in her old jumper and skirt, but played it off cool, taking another nibble of her sandwich.
"I see no problem with that Elizabeth! Do you Tina? My name is Starlee Kennedy."
Tina was, of course, entirely oblivious to the harsh look on Elizabeth's face, and just hummed in agreement with Starlee. She had already begun to admire this new girl quite a bit, and trusted Starlee's decision to let her stay. Not that she would've have said no anyway; that serious expression Elizabeth wore was incredibly cool, and Tina liked having cool friends. Maybe it would make her less of a target at Hogwarts.
"Uh, duh you sit with us!" she squeaked, shimmying out of her seat to greet the new arrival properly. "You got sandwiches too? I have jam but Star has somethin' called a Bee-Ell-Tee, big lickable treat, I think. Anyway, it looks awesome and I'm totally gonna have papa make me some at Christmas. I'll have a Bee-Ell-Tee advent calender or- oh! I'm Martyna by the way! Slash Tina! I prefer Tina, to be honest."
Her introduction came without warning, just as it had done with Starlee. She put her hands on her hips, looking down at Liz. She was sure that this was where adults shook hands or something, but the girl's severe expression told her that this probably wouldn't be received well. She did for a moment consider a high five instead, but hesitated, instead placing her hands on her hips.
"I see that you too are a midget!" Tina said, looking down at the suitcase. She hadn't meant it offensively, though whether it was received as such or not was another matter. "No fear - Me and Star have braved this challenge once already!
With an assertive nod, the two girls swept Elizabeth's luggage from underneath, repeating the same balancing act as they had done before, guiding the suitcase onto the topmost rack. Tina sat back down with a huff, patting the place beside her to signal that Liz could sit there, if she wanted.
"Me and Star were talkin' about school and stuff. Like, favourite subjects and that," she explained. That reminded her... "Star, do you actually like Potions?" Tina asked, offering a disbelieving grin to the other girl. "Not in a bad way or anythin', it's just... I know you said you had to do non-magic subjects but have you ever done Chemistry? It's like, the hardest thing ever! I was so happy to escape it, but now I have to do more at magic school? You agree, right Lizzy? Oh, can I call you that?"

Elizabeth looked between the two. They both seemed to be at ease. They were overly sweet and kind and it got on Liz's nerves. She could tell immediately these two were NOT going to end up being her friends. The blonde girl spoke first, "I see no problem with that Elizabeth! Do you Tina? My name is Starlee Kennedy." She then put on an overly sweet face, making Liz want to roll her eyes.
The curly haired girl didn't seem to notice Liz's glare at all. She seemed to be taking in Liz's outfit, making the blonde want to check her sleeves to make sure there was not cat fur clinging to them or anything. The girl said, "Uh, duh you sit with us!" in a very squeaky tone. Liz sucked in a breath and was about to stop her when she continued, "You got sandwiches too? I have jam but Star has somethin' called a Bee-Ell-Tee, big lickable treat, I think. Anyway, it looks awesome and I'm totally gonna have papa make me some at Christmas. I'll have a Bee-Ell-Tee advent calender or- oh! I'm Martyna by the way! Slash Tina! I prefer Tina, to be honest."
Liz stared at her like she had seen a Dementor or something. She slowly let out a breath. What in God's name was Liz getting herself into? This girl was a walking ball of filth and energy. Who doesn't know what a BLT is? How does she talk so much with out losing any breath? BIG LICKABLE TREAT? Where just some of the things circling around Liz's mind. "Uh. Hi. No, I don't know...er- Tina." was all Liz said at that moment.
"I see that you too are a midget! No fear - Me and Star have braved this challenge once already!" Liz took a step back when the girls both worked together to lift her luggage into the rack above. 'Well...I guess I'm stuck here with this fricking lunatic for the ride.', thought Liz as she internally sighed. "Thank you?" she said, not really sounding sincere. She was trying her best but Tina rubbed her the wrong way and made her irrationally angry. Tina patted the spot next to her and Liz actually sneered. She snorted with laughter at the fact that the girl thought she would ever sit near a crazy Mudblood like her.
She defiantly sat opposite from Tina, next to Starlee, but still a good few feet away from the girl. "Me and Star were talkin' about school and stuff. Like, favourite subjects and that- Star, do you actually like Potions? Not in a bad way or anythin', it's just... I know you said you had to do non-magic subjects but have you ever done Chemistry? It's like, the hardest thing ever! I was so happy to escape it, but now I have to do more at magic school? You agree, right Lizzy? Oh, can I call you that?"
This confirmed Liz's beliefs. She had learned about this chemistry thing from Mrs. Madeline. The two had spent an afternoon learning about Muggle schools in Europe and the things they learned. When Liz had complained about how boring this was, Madeline had told her it would help her Sort out Muggle-borns and Blood-Traitors from pure-bloods. And she had been right. Also just the fact that Tina had called it magic school. Liz scoffed at the name.
"You may absolutely NOT call me that. It's Elizabeth to you. Potions is the best subject, and I will excel at it, being from a long line of Slytherins. Magic School? This is SCHOOL. Just School. Not Magic School. BLT stands for Bacon Lettuce Tomato. What hole have you been living in that you don't know what one is? Even you disgusting Muggles have them. I never had to learn Chemistry. Me and my siblings are pure-blooded and our parents would never send us some place as disgraceful as a Muggle school. Liz went off on the girl, finally pausing to take a breath. She cut her eyes harshly to Star and then back at Tina, daring them both to argue with her.
Feeling like she had nothing let to add to this conversation she turned her head to the window on the compartment door and stared out of it, waiting for the Trolley witch. She had only come in here because it was the last compartment available. And of course it held a crazy person. She pulled the hair band off her wrist and pulled her frizzy hair back into a long ponytail, just waiting for whatever crazy responses the two were going to come up with.

Starlee had helped tina lift Elizabeth's trunk up onto the rack. Starlee was feeling some serious doubt in the new girl, there was something off about her. She managed to catch a hint of hollowness in Elizabeth's "Thank you?", and her concern grew. I mean, Elizabeth was the one who asked to join them. Surely this couldn't be the last compartment with any space! Starlee watched as Tina patted the seat next to her for Elizabeth to sit down. However, Elizabeth blatantly made the choice to sit on Starlee's bench, albeit way on the other end of the bench, enough for another person to sit between them.Interacting with @Martyna Romero & @Elizabeth Isaacs
It was then that Elizabeth began a spiel that turned mean, and fast. She answered all of Tina's questions, but with a hint of malice in her voice, daring them to come back at her at the end of it. "Even you disgusting Muggles have them." Starlee's jaw dropped as she heard this.
Before Tina could say anything, Starlee sharply turned to look at the girl, her cute and innocent demeanor changing quickly. "Now you see here Elizabeth. Clearly, you seem to think Pure-bloods are better than everyone else, huh." Starlee flipped some of her straight blonde hair behind her shoulder and continued, "Well I hate to be the first to inform you, but there are plenty of muggle-borns that are good, if not better than your own parents, and I will tell you that one for free." She said while dripping with anger, although she now noticed that Elizabeth wasn't even looking at her. "Why did you even join us then? Go sit somewhere else if you want to be rude." Starlee said, rolling her eyes at the girl.
She then leaned over to Tina and whispered, "Hey, are you okay? Should I kick this girl out? I'm not sure there's much we can do... but what she said was totally rude."

Well, whatever answer Tina had been expecting Elizabeth to say, nothing came close to this. There were red flags that she'd failed to notice: the disdainful tone the girl took when talking to her, the wide-eyed, scornful stare when she'd said something silly, the purposeful way she declined her offer of a seat. For her, this rant came completely out of the blue. When Elizabeth opened her mouth, her already huge, brown eyes seemed to double in size, the disgust and rage she was clearly filled with evident in her expression.
On a lighter note, Tina had never heard anyone say 'bacon' so aggressively. It would have been funny, under a very different set of circumstances. This went completely over the poor muggle-born's head, too focused on Elizabeth as she continued her tirade. She felt herself shrinking back into the chair, arms stiff with fear, her hands clenching by her sides. Her jaw had gone slack, dropping so her mouth fell open, and her heart was beating hard, almost in her throat by now, which felt heavy. She felt like she was choking, in a way. Everything felt surreal. She was overwhelmed.
All she could think was, why was she being attacked her like this? Tina didn't think she'd done anything except be exceptionally kind and welcoming to Elizabeth. Nothing that warranted this sort of treatment, certainly. Was this what life was going to be like for her, in a world full of wizards? She felt so trapped, inside the carriage. She couldn't breathe, even.
"Now you see here Elizabeth." Tina snapped her head up at the sound of Starlee's voice. Although she didn't dare to look in Elizabeth's direction, her new friend speaking up against her was a comfort. "Clearly, you seem to think Pure-bloods are better than everyone else, huh. Well I hate to be the first to inform you, but there are plenty of muggle-borns that are good, if not better than your own parents, and I will tell you that one for free."
Tina let out a conflicted blubber at that. She couldn't deal with this sort of confrontation. Not on her first day. Thankfully, Starlee was once again ready to save her, leaning in to whisper-
"Hey, are you okay? Should I kick this girl out? I'm not sure there's much we can do... but what she said was totally rude."
"I- I don't..." Tina started, feeling a bit pathetic. She couldn't just let poor Starlee stand up for her like that - what would people think? Stupid muggle-born can't stand up for herself; needs to rely on her friend to do it for her? Yeah right. She couldn't let that happen. No, like any rational human being, Tina realised that the only solution was to be just as nasty back. Nastier, if she could. With all her strength, Tina got to her feet, and yelled, "You're a horrible person Lizzy! Ugly inside and out, bug-eyes! Starlee is right: you and your parents can do one!"
In a brief moment of child-like rage, Tina grabbed what remained of her jam sandwich and threw it as hard as she could in Liz's direction. Then, when it hit her that she might get in trouble if a teacher saw, tears started pouring out of her eyes. Oh God. Now she was pathetic.
"Get out!" Tina shrieked, her voice strained and saliva gargling in the back of her throat. She didn't look to see what Starlee was thinking. "Go sit in the toilets or something! Since you don't have any friends now!"

Liz should've expected push back from these two. All she wanted to do was sit in a compartment with normal people. Was that so much to ask? She turned her eyes to look at Starlee as she spoke, looking absolutely bored with this conversation. "Now you see here Elizabeth. Clearly, you seem to think Pure-bloods are better than everyone else, huh. Well I hate to be the first to inform you, but there are plenty of muggle-borns that are good, if not better than your own parents, and I will tell you that one for free." Liz raised an eye brow at her words, but they didn't really seem to affect her all that much. "Why did you even join us then? Go sit somewhere else if you want to be rude.", she finished her spiel.
Liz watched her lean over and whisper something to the Muggle-born. Liz sighed. "If you say so honey. But you're wrong. My parents are pure-blooded and there is no way a Mud-, she paused, biting her tongue, "Muggle-born could ever be better than them. But keep believing if you want to. It's not my problem you are misinformed." she said and was about to turn back to staring out of the glass on the window when Tina finally spoke. For the past few minutes the girl had looked a bit like a fish out of water and it was humorous to Liz.
"I- I don't..." Now she really DID look like a fish out of water and Liz giggled softly. Tina suddenly shot to her feet and yelled "You're a horrible person Lizzy! Ugly inside and out, bug-eyes! Starlee is right: you and your parents can do one!" She then grabbed the rest of her sandwich and chucked it at Liz. Not expecting it the girl did nothing to deflect and the sandwich made contact with her striped shirt, the jam staining the white parts, and slid slowly onto her lap.
Liz was gobsmacked. Her mouth hung slightly open and her eyes really did look like bugs eyes. Tina then had the AUDACITY to shriek, "Get out! Go sit in the toilets or something! Since you don't have any friends now!" Liz's brown eyes were still on her ruined outfit. She slowly lifted her eyes to Tina. The girl looked absolutely mad. Liz ground her teeth together and then slowly breathed out.
She picked the remains of the sandwich from the front of her shirt. She held it in one hand and then produced a small hanker chief from her pocket and did her best to wipe off the remaining goop. Well this shirt was ruined. Maybe she could salvage the skirt. She guessed she could send the shirt back to her home to have the stain magically removed. She folded the hanker chief back up and then shoved it back into her pocket. "How old are you? Two? I'm staying here and you can't force me out, Mad Marty. Neither can you Starlee. See, this is why I don't talk to dumb Muggles and Blood-Traitors." She said.
She was trying to stay dignified but really she wanted to choke this girl. She leaned back farther against the seat and sighed, looking down at her shirt. She made a soft noise of anger at the shirt and then glanced at the sandwich in her hand. Knowing that if she threw it, it would seem hypocritical. She finally just set it down to keep herself from violently flinging it back at the girl. She crossed her arms and glared at the two. They couldn't make her move, she decided.

After Starlee's spiel, Elizabeth came back with a snarky retort. Starlee sat back up to listen after whispering to Tina. Again, Starlee's jaw dropped as Elizabeth had almost used... the M-word. She sincerely hoped that Tina didn't know what that meant, but it was entirely possible her older sister has faced the same horrible treatment. She would have to tell her later, it was for her own good. But not with this Pure-Blood Best-Blood perpetuator hanging around them.
Starlee looked back to Tina after Elizabeth had finished. She didn't look happy, not one bit. "I- I don't..." Starlee felt awful. She had to do something. Well... what could they do really? It seemed there was quite a lack of adult figures on this train. Being that she knew nothing of Hogwarts, the idea of prefects was non-existent to her as well, so she felt as if getting in trouble was something that wouldn't soon happen. It was then Tina stood up and started shouting at Elizabeth.
"You're a horrible person Lizzy! Ugly inside and out, bug-eyes! Starlee is right: you and your parents can do one! Get out! Go sit in the toilets or something! Since you don't have any friends now!" Starlee felt proud that Tina stood up for herself like that, but perhaps throwing her jam sandwich at Elizabeth wasn't the most... thought out plan... and Elizabeth's shirt was certainly ruined. Of course, it seemed Elizabeth has caught onto this too and replied back, "How old are you? Two? I'm staying here and you can't force me out, Mad Marty. Neither can you Starlee. See, this is why I don't talk to dumb Muggles and Blood-Traitors."
By the end of this, Starlee was floored. This girl was totally brainwashed. Mad Marty? Blood-Traitor? Excuse me? Her father had told her there would be more people out there that wouldn't accept her Half-blood status or her new Muggle friend. But never in a million years did she think she would meet someone like that on the first day, let alone the second person she even met on her way to Hogwarts. She thought back to those long summer days she spent working and playing out on her muggle grandfather's farm. How much fun she had and how kind he was. Why wasn't everyone like that? Why just because she was different, in a way she or Tina had no control over, did people like her other grandfather and this new girl, Elizabeth, think less of her?
She thought back to what her dad always told her. 'Treat people the way you want to be treated.' Starlee smiled slyly. 'Well, if I was a bad person, then I would want to be treated as such... just so I could snap out of this stupidity.' She thought, twisting her father's words around. This girl had to go... and she had a plan.
She stood up and looked back at Elizabeth. She gave her a somewhat evil smile. "No, you are certainly right... Lizzy..." she said, her tone ice-cold as she strung out the word 'lizzy' way longer than it was supposed to be. She walked the little bit between them to the front of the compartment door as she talked to her. ""We certainly can't force you out... but I assume you would follow your stuff, no?" She then quickly reached above them to the rack, grabbing the end of the handle that was Elizabeth's trunk. She dragged it off, making sure Tina wasn't in the way but possibly hitting Elizabeth in the process. It thunked loudly to the ground, and Starlee swung open the compartment door and slid the trunk into the hall. She looked back at Elizabeth, her eyes glaring daggers at the girl. "Now seriously... GET. OUT."

OOC: Wasn't sure, but it looks like prefects did patrol the corridors on the train, we could get one involved here if we want, just a suggestion! Also, I left it up to you, Elizabeth, if you want to evade the trunk hitting you to some degree. We could roll for it if you want, although I am not entirely sure how that works. Also also, I am very much enjoying this XD

*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*The summer had just ended and today marked the start of her third year. She had mixed feelings about it—while she would be away from her family and their annoying pureblood gatherings, she now had to deal with more people. She wanted to be left alone. She didn't trust herself to keep her emotions under control. No one had ever taught her how to manage them, so she was channeling it all into researching or schoolwork, spells, and… making sure other people stayed away. She had firmly decided that this year, she wouldn't get close to anyone she hadn't met yet. Adding new people to the mix of friendships just made things more complicated—more people she would have to be careful around. She couldn't face the idea of hurting her current friends, so she would try not to lash out at them, but maybe putting some distance between her and them would make them stop caring about her as much.
So here she was, obsessively patrolling the aisles of the Hogwarts Express in the hopes that it would allow her to dodge her friends. Walking past compartments of laughing friends made her unconsciously ball her hands into fists, and she kept going in the hope that she would find something different. She heard shouts and angry tones coming from a compartment up ahead and relaxed. That probably shouldn't be one's reaction to trouble, but it seemed to only be minor, and it was something she was more familiar with. She didn't have to plaster a happy smile onto her face and hold her tongue when there were arguments going on.
She slid the door open and watched for a moment, gaze flicking between the three girls, trying to see what she could figure out from their appearances and voices. They had to be young, younger than her. First years? She caught some of their bickering for a brief second—boring—before a trunk was flung down. Ruby raised an eyebrow, a hum of disapproval being heard as she looked at the trunk, then back up to the girls with dissatisfaction. “Mm, what do we have here? Haven't even arrived at Hogwarts and you're already causing trouble… I'll have to keep an eye on you three,” the cold, clipped voice began. “Names? I expect an explanation for all… this.” Her nose wrinkled ever so slightly at that, ice blue eyes only shifting to stare into those of each girl individually.
The prefect badge glinted, the only decoration on her pristinely neat, plain robes. She was not the sentimental type, preferring a lack of personalisation on her school clothing. The posture with which she carried herself was perfect, a straight back and aloof air never leaving her. Her expression was neutral with a slight hint of boredom as she waited expectantly for their excuses. If they played their cards right, they had a chance of escaping detention. Perhaps this whole ordeal would scare them into following the rules in the future—while she doubted it, she hoped it were the case. If not? Well, there were some staff members who were scarier than her…*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*

The two were certainly pushing back more than Liz had expected. She expected them to just get angry at her and ignore her, not actively attack her with words and a jam sandwich. But alas it looked like Liz was going to have a fight on her first train ride to Hogwarts. She hadn't even gotten there yet. Knowing she technically hadn't broken any rules, just pissed a few twats off with her opinions. And she decided to keep it that way. She wasn't going to get detention on the first day of school. Not that she wasn't open to detentions later on. Liz was content to just ignore them, until Starlee stood up.
"No, you are certainly right... Lizzy...", Liz sneered softly at the nickname, hating how long Star drew it out, ""We certainly can't force you out... but I assume you would follow your stuff, no?" Liz watched as the other blonde pulled down her trunk, whipped it around, and hit Liz smack dab on the side of the head. Liz yelped in pain and quickly brought up both her hands to the place on her head where she had been hit. Tears stung her eyes at the pain. Were these girls serious? They were going to resort to physical violence? This was only proving Liz's theories on Muggles further.
Star didn't even take a moment to look at Liz before opening the compartment door and sliding her trunk out into the hallway. Liz looked at her, mouth slightly open and a tear rolling down her cheek. "Now seriously... GET. OUT." Star glared daggers into Liz's eyes. Liz left out a soft breath and reached to quickly rub away the tears in her eyes and on her face. She made sure there was no evidence of her crying left.
Before she could make a decision about what to do next, just about ready to actually deck Starlee in the face, an older girl appeared in the door. Liz's brown eyes searched the girl, wondering what she could possibly want, but that was when she saw the prefect badge. “Mm, what do we have here? Haven't even arrived at Hogwarts and you're already causing trouble… I'll have to keep an eye on you three. Names? I expect an explanation for all… this.”
Liz let out a soft huff and stood up finally from her spot in the corner. She scooted past the girl and picked up her trunk, pulling it back into the compartment and shot a glare at Starlee. She would not be removed from this compartment, no matter what. She was going to make these girls lives a living nightmare as best she could. Just not at the moment. She was ready to throw on the waterworks and the victim-ism as much as possible. Turning back to the prefect she finally spoke.
"I'm Elizabeth Isaacs. I came into this compartment because all the other ones were full you see. I was raised to believe that Pure-Bloods are better than others and when I voiced these opinions to the two they attacked me for my beliefs. I was fully content to just ignore them for the rest of the train ride than then Tina over there threw her jam sandwich at me, look!, she said, pointing to the very obvious stain on her white and black striped shirt. Then she shrieked at me to get out and I told her no, I don't have to. Starlee then decided to take things into her own hands by grabbing my trunk down, hitting me in the side of the face with it, and then flinging it into the hallway. These two are blatantly attacking me just because I believe different things than them."
She finished her long dialogue. She wasn't leaving this compartment no matter what. She was still in pain from the good smack to her head with the trunk and decided to sit back into her spot. She grabbed her trunk and pulled it close to her and propped her feet onto it, waiting for the two girls to come up with some bull crap to try and get away with this.

Tina wasn't sure what she'd been hoping Starlee would do in response to Elizabeth's evil comment about muggle-borns and half-bloods, but it certainly wasn't this. Now that the statement applied to Star as well, she had even more of a reason to fight back. With height on her side, she had been able to reach up and drag Elizabeth's trunk off of the rack above them, flinging it in her direction with all her strength and thwacking the girl on her head in the process.
For a moment, Tina was worried that Elizabeth might cry. If she did, they would be the ones to blame, despite the fact that it was her that had started this whole argument in the first place. Well, admittedly, Tina had been the one to throw her sandwich, but Liz totally deserved it, and the trunk couldn't have been that heavy, surely. It had been lighter than both she and Star's when they'd put it on the shelf, at the very least. Thankfully, when Elizabeth turned around to look at them, there were no tears rolling down her cheeks. Instead, her eyes were stone cold, glaring at the two girls, who were now ganging up on her, with a look of pure venom. Tina stepped in front of Starlee, protective. She was ready to knock Elizabeth's teeth out if she so much as came near them, hatred blazing in her chest. Before the situation could escalate any further, however, they were interrupted.
“Mm, what do we have here? Haven't even arrived at Hogwarts and you're already causing trouble… I'll have to keep an eye on you three.” A cold, slightly condescending voice caught Tina's attention. Her head whipped up to meet the eyes of a rather terrifying-looking girl, already dressed in her school robes, not a wrinkle in sight. The gleaming, immaculately placed prefect badge on her uniform made Tina tense up, shrinking in on herself sheepishly. “Names? I expect an explanation for all… this.”
Tina wanted to be the first to answer, but Elizabeth got there first, ready to spread poisonous lies about she and Star, no doubt. "I'm Elizabeth Isaacs. I came into this compartment because all the other ones were full, you see." Tina nearly rolled her eyes. She definitely would have, if it wasn't for the ice cold stare of this prefect boring into her. Obviously, Liz was going to paint a very unfinished picture of what had really gone on in their compartment. "I was raised to believe that Pure-Bloods are better than others, and when I voiced these opinions to the two they attacked me for my beliefs."
...Oh?
Elizabeth had potentially made a huge mistake there. Tina's hands subconsciously clenched as she tried to remain under control, hoping that she might accidentally spout some more of her stupid ideals whilst she monologued so openly. There had been absolutely zero indication that this prefect was a pure-blood, aside from the spine-chilling atmosphere she seemed to have bought along with her whilst patrolling (Tina had already decided that every pure-blood she would scary in one way or another) and Elizabeth might have just inadvertently insulted her. Also, attacking her for her beliefs? God she sounded ridiculous here. She'd essentially told them that they would never be as good at magic as her, and all they'd done was correct her on that!
"I was fully content to just ignore them for the rest of the train ride than then Tina over there threw her jam sandwich at me, look!"
...Okay, maybe she'd done that too. Tina was still seething at how poorly Elizabeth was presenting the truth, though. She took a breath, ready to interject, but Elizabeth continued before she had the chance.
"Then she shrieked at me to get out and I told her no, I don't have to. Starlee then decided to take things into her own hands by grabbing my trunk down, hitting me in the side of the face with it, and then flinging it into the hallway." Tina glanced back at Starlee. Maybe if they hadn't done that, they would have a better defence here. Still, she stood her ground. What Starlee did was justified, in Tina's eyes. "These two are blatantly attacking me just because I believe different things than them."
Believe different things? Tina's jaw dropped. She almost wanted to laugh, There were certain things you couldn't have an opinion on. 'Beliefs' were reserved for things like whether you prefer marmalade or strawberry jam on your morning slice of toast, not whether groups of people were 'good' or not. She knew a word existed for people like this, she just couldn't place her finger on it.. The muggle world and the wizarding one weren't so different, it turned out.
"Racist bitch."
That was it. Tina's voice was full of loathing and resentment as she said it, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes at the mounting stress of the situation. She briefly felt her cheeks go red at having used a swear, looking up at the prefect to see if she was in trouble for doing so. Feeling a need to justify it, she continued.
"I'm Martyna. Romero. Or 'Mad Marty' as Elizabeth likes to call me. Anyway, that's the right word, isn't it? Or is there another one for people like that here?" Tina said, feeling both anger and humiliation bubble up inside her. She wanted to be at home. She didn't care if she never got to do magic. She didn't care if she had to do maths every day instead of charms. If she was going to have to defend herself against bullies like Elizabeth all the time, then what was the point? "I hoped getting hit with your stuff might knock some sense into you, but obviously not," she said, this time directly to Elizabeth. She needed to do something horrid, but a prefect was watching. She couldn't get in trouble on her first day, before she'd even begun. "How does it feel like to look down on others like this? Does it make you feel good? Does it?" She came closer to Elizabeth, grateful for the slight difference in height. "You wouldn't know what it's like to be spat on." And she never would, if someone didn't put her in her place. That was it."Here, let me help you."
Not even thinking about who was watching her anymore, Tina spat in Elizabeth's hair.
