@Koko Riddle
Florean Fortescue's was always a favorite of Thea's. It wasn't calm, like some of Hogwarts more reclusive spots, but it was always refreshing to come for a soft ice cream. She was able to relax there; maybe it was the diagon alley atmosphere which provided her with some of the best people watching opportunities or maybe it was just the raspberry flavor. Either way, it was a place where she didn't have to worry about school work and uniforms; and sometimes that was just what the Hufflepuff girl needed.

She was walking along Diagon Alley, slowly making her way towards the ice cream parlor. Despite it being May, it was still Scotland, so except her jeans and cut shirt which slightly exposed her mid-drift, she was wearing a tan jacket and her dirty white sneakers. The which still kept her wand with her at all times, but it was hidden in the oddly deep jean pockets. Despite that, she didn't feel a need to clutch onto it and just slowly walked further.

And as she got closer to Fortescue's, her heart momentarily stopped as she noticed something familiar. How she wished it was a class mate, even one she didn't particularly like. No, instead she saw a familiar... print, on a long-sleeved, collared shirt. And with each step, it only became clearer she wasn't hallucinating. At one of the outdoor tables sat a particular Ilvermorny student, one she hadn't seen in a year, one she didn't really... hope to see.

Cy, was his name? An Ilvermorny boy that made... an impression, for sure. She wasn't sure if it was positive, but it was definitely there. Other than his name, the Hufflepuff knew his favorite color was Cyan. Fitting. When she saw him a month ago, that was the only thing he told her before she unceremoniously ignored most further questions of his. And as she took not of that particular memory again, she could just feel a sting of guilt in her stomach. Sure, he was creeping her out, but her now a year older moral compass was telling her she could've acted better.

As Thea was about to turn around on her heel, she changed her mind and instead walked up to the parlor with the confidence of someone who knew they were doing something stupid. She stopped when she reached the boy's table, and opened her mouth with an unsure smile. "Cy, was it?" you could feel she was unsure from her meek tone of voice. She attempted a more confident smile, and asked.

"Can I sit here?"

As Cyrus 'Cy' Darsel
Cyrus' aunt had decided to go back to the UK for reasons unbeknownst to the boy. "Work" reasons, she would say; "Adult things" that he wouldn't understand although he was nearly fourteen. It wasn't like there was anything fun Cyrus could do in the UK - the football there was all wrong.

He sighed as he strode about Diagon Alley, bored out of his mind. What was interesting about all these old buildings, anyway? Who cared about history? It was stupid to read about mistakes of the past. Well, Cyrus did enjoy reading about wars and whatnot. Tanks were cool; he could hardly help himself. Of course a teenaged boy would read about tanks.

The American's ocean-blue eyes widened as he stopped in front of a door labelled 'Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour'. His aunt had given him some money, and it was a rather warm day - perhaps Cy would be able to cool off with some much-needed ice cream!

Cyrus fiddled with his duck-print jacket, feeling the fine silk in between his fingers. If only there were ducks here, he thought; ducks made everything better. The boy took a step into the Ice Cream Parlour, and to his delight, he was met with an assortment of tables and chairs. He sat down at a random one, his gaze flitting to his clothes. Good Lord, he loved ducks. He wanted a pet duck.

The boy sighed to himself as he fiddled, only coming out of his duck-related thoughts when a familiar voice sounded from above him. His head snapped up, blond curls bouncing as his eyes widened to the size of saucers. "Thea!?" Cy yelped, nearly falling out of his chair. A pretty name for a pretty girl, he remembered. "Yeah, bro, of course you can sit here. Whatever you need."
His outfit- It may or may not be of some importance???

I'm sorry about the length haha
Thea chuckled lightly and relaxed her shoulders as the Ilvermorny boy responded. He was still that bit of theatrical she very briefly knew him as, but it wasn't so surprising and offputting anymore. Maybe it was because Thea knew what she was getting into, or maybe it was the boy's warm demeanor towards her - whatever it was, it made her pull up one of the chairs and sit down.

The Hufflepuff briefly looked the boy up and down. It was still the same strange Ilvermorny student, no doubt. Her gaze got hung up on his jacket for a second too long and she couldn't help but smile. Duck print. Of course. "Why ducks?" Thea tilted her head lightly to her right with a more eaher tone of voice than she'd like it to be. "Out of all animals, muggle and magical, ducks?" She crossed her legs under the table.

As she waited for a response from Cyrus, she picked up one of the standing menus thst were on display at their table. Almost entirely calm, she asked with a soft voice, "What are you getting? The raspberry is nice," she tapped the option before passing the small piece of paper to the boy.

Thea looked around Diagon Alley and the ice cream parlor in general. The weather was surprisingly nice and warm - sun shining, birds chirping, the whole nine yards. The witch squinted and scrunched up her nose, looking at the sun, and quickly took her tan jacket off, looking back at the Ilvermorny boy

Cyrus' leg bounced restlessly as he eyed the redhead, slightly intimidated by the witch. He smiled at her, a brazen smile that fit his personality well. "Ducks?" he echoed, drumming his fingers on the table. "Why not ducks?"

The boy shook his head, blond hair flying as he stood, straightening out his lovely shirt - because it just couldn't be fowl. "Because, dear Thea," he said loudly, pointing to one of the many ducks adorning it, "Ducks are regal. They are strong. They are amazing." His voice grew higher with each sentence, finally cracking on the final syllable, and he sat down. The chair screeched against the floor as he put his weight into it, and he chuckled. "Seriously, I dunno. They remind me of myself, I guess. Elegant and whatnot."

He had to think about her next question, squinting at the menu as he read the words on it. Giving a slight half-shrug, Cy smirked. "Yeah, the raspberry looks delish," he said loudly, "but I think I'm going with three-scoops. Growing boys gotta get lots of food, plus, strawberry... I'm a sucker for strawberry." He smiled at the menu. "Do you think they take Muggle money? I have Wizarding money, but... I want to use it sparingly, y'know?"

Cyrus laughed slightly, shifting in his seat as he gazed around Diagon Alley. It was a nice place, really, but it just made him long for New York City. England was so... What he'd seen of England was most of the rural areas, with the cute little cottages, or the old castles and cathedrals that had been around since Medieval times. They hadn't gone to London, Liverpool, Buckingham, or any larger cities. He felt...

Homesick was probably the right word, but Cyrus refused to refer to himself as such. He was brave. He enjoyed travelling. Still, he couldn't shake the feeling...

Golly, he just missed the honking cars. Certainly that wasn't a crime!

Thea looked at the boy with a polite, but a neverthelesss confused smile. She used the answer "why not?" to strange questions before, and only now she saw it as how weirdly irritating it was. Fortunately for her, the boy would explain himself more clearly seconds after eithout having her stumble through more questions.

Regal. Elegant. Strong. Not exactly the words Thea would usually hear a duck being described with. Well, to be fair, no one ever needed to describe ducks to her. To her, they were just cute, kind of dorky animals. Probably stronger than she imagined them to be, but still. Regal and elegant were still kind of stretches to her. The witch however nodded politely, not wanting to nag Cyrus with more questions.

With the topic of conversation turning towards ice cream, she felt much more comfortable talking to the boy. Ice cream flavors were definitely more up her alley than the inherent nature of ducks. "Muggle money?" Thea couldn't hide the slight surprise that came across her face. "No, I don't think they take muggle money." She said. The hufflepuff was still kind of unfamiliar with the differences between the magical and muggle world, and even simple questions could stump her if unexpected.

"I'm sure Gringotts offers some kind of exchange!" Thea said, as the boy averted his gaze from the menu and she couldn't help but follow his line of sight. She noticed he had bright blue eyes before looking back at the table, scared of accidentally making eye contact. The encounter was more silent and it was turning slightly too awkward for Thea's taste. So...

"What's it like?" She spoke up and looked at the blonde boy again. "I mean, America. And Ilvermorny. I can't imagine how different Hogwarts must be."

"Drat."

Cyrus pulled a small Zip-loc bag out of a pocket in his jacket and shook it, listening to the coins inside jingle before he opened it and poured them out. "I might have some Wizard money in here," he mumbled, beginning to thumb through the coins. His fingers came across a dime, then a pound coin, and then a bunch of US quarters that he still had in there before his fingers finally brushed the cold metal of a galleon. "Aha! I found one!" He kicked his feet out in a happy dance before realising once again that, yes, he was in fact in public. "...heh. Sorry."

The usually-present grin on his lips was back in full swing, and he couldn't help but smile at the redhead next to him. He never talked to girls back home; his closest friends were guys. Even then, he only had a few friends, and even less at school because his parents were non-magical. Was Thea a friend? He wasn't sure, but he hoped so. He'd have to ask later, he decided, and he filed it back into the file cabinet of his brain.

"Well... I dunno. It's bigger than the UK, that's for sure. Man, it's so small here. Like, living on a tiny island in the middle of the ocean, except that island is a country? I couldn't imagine it. Granted, I've only seen some areas... Like, I went to Bath and stuff... the Saltford Manor is cool - oh, wait. Well, America... is louder than it is here, but I've not been to London." Cyrus ceased his incessant ramblings for a small moment to breathe, and once he inhaled quickly and loudly, he continued. "But we drive on the right side of the road. Er, well, Ilvermorny is actually really weird. I think I'd like Hogwarts more. I think it'd be easier to blend in with other wizards and witches, and maybe there'd be more ducks in Scotland. I don't know. I don't see too many in Manhattan, at least not the cool breeds."

Flopping back in his seat, Cyrus smiled wearily at Thea, noticing how tiny she was. That fact made him giggle, and he was quick to specify that, nooooooo, he was not laughing at her. "Well, Thea, what's it like in England or Scotland or whatever places are in the UK -" He never was the best at geography. "-compared to the US"
