Henry seemed to hear her calls, because he stopped walking and turned to face her. He spoke quietly, then gently pulled her to the side, away from any curious gazes that were watching them. She didn't pull away, just continued to watch him.
When he spoke again, a small frown replaced Miranda's previously worried expression. "How many times do I have to tell you?" she asked, her serious expression undercut by the amusement held in her eyes. "I love you , Henry, and your family doesn't change what I think. This isn't your fault. It's theirs. Besides, I'm sure we can fix this somehow." She was painfully aware that her final words might not be true, but chose to ignore that thought. Miranda was good at looking for the silver linings in most clouds - she could do it again to reassure the boy she loved. "You're the best friend I could ever have. Anyone that says otherwise is telling a falsehood."
She looked up at him, her expression one of steely determination. What his father's family was trying to do was wrong - there was no question about that. That meant there should be a way to stop it. Someone they could tell, something they could do. A compromise, a refusal...at least something. Miranda refused to give up just yet.

Hearing Miranda speak did something to Henry, as he heard the concern in her voice and saw it in her eyes. Henry listened to her words carefully as she said that she love him and he was the best friend that she had, Henry didn't know what to do as he felt frozen and unable to move. Henry knew he had to leave and probably isolate himself but he couldn't instead he just stood there, frozen and unable to do anything. Henry look at Miranda and felt some wash over him like a wave of relief or something else, something he couldn't describe and something that he have never felt before.
The 12 year old didn't know what to do as his body and legs felt frozen to the ground and his mouth felt like it couldn't work, his eyes were stuck on Miranda's crystal clear blue eyes and his mind was stuck in a thought that the soon to be teen didn't think he'll experience until he was 15 or 16 but here he was experiencing it and not knowing what to do next. As Henry couldn't think because his mind felt like it disappeared and his stomach felt like it had butterflies or knots in it, he had his grazed locked on Miranda's blue eyes and blonde hair.
Before he could think, he had leaned over to Miranda and kissed her. It wasn't a long kiss and it wasn't a short one either, when he pulled away Henry couldn't believe what he just did as he looked at Miranda and embarrassment fill his face and his voice felt like it disappeared as he spoke " I'm sorry,
I didn't mean to.. uh, I just-" Henry paused looking for the right words before saying again " Your right, you always been right Miranda because your an amazing friend and a great person. Your beyond kind and compassionate, and your also brave and courageous but also funny and truly beautiful," Henry looked into her eyes as he spoke again " and I love you Miranda, and I don't know if you share my feelings but I love you and-" Henry paused as he remembered that a bunch of second years were already dating but he didn't want his love life to be known, not yet at least or did he as he spoke " and a bunch of other second years are already dating so would you consider dating... uh, would you be my girlfriend.... we can even keep it a secret if you like, only if you like?"

Miranda stared up into Henry blue-eyed gaze, trying to assess his reaction. Was she being too direct? Was he going to take off again? She really hoped he wouldn't, because any more chasing would be embarrassing.
She wanted to look around and see if anyone was eavesdropping, but didn't dare. Instead, she continued to watch him, her eyes portraying her worried thoughts. About a million different things could happen now - some good, some bad. What exactly did she want? Preferably for him to stay, so they could talk things out and figure out a plan of action or something else like that. Maybe figure out their tangled emotions as well. Miranda had no idea what she was feeling, other than that letting Henry leave now would be unbearable.
That was when he kissed her.
Had she been expecting it? No, she most certainly hadn't it. But it was a welcome surprise none the less. While she tried to assemble her muddled thoughts into something cohesive, Henry began to talk again, and she found herself listening attentively.
"Well, you're smart, and brave, and kind, too. I trust you to have my back in a crisis, and you were one of my first friends. Ever, actually." Miranda smiled up at him, her eyes glittering with warmth. "So yes, I would gladly be your...girlfriend." She stumbled a bit over the last word, the sound of it strange on her tongue. She then considered what to say next. On the one hand, revealing to everyone that she liked someone in that way might cause a bit of embarrassment. On the other, she wouldn't have to hide her feelings anymore. That would be a relief. Either way sounded good to her, since Henry knew how she felt, and that was pretty much all that mattered for the moment. "It's up to you," Miranda finally decided. "Whatever you think is best works for me."

Henry's heart was pounding and his head was spiraling when Miranda agreed to be his girlfriend, but when she said that it was up to him to keep it a secret it not that's when he didn't know. Henry was in no way the romantic one of his family, technically that kiss with Miranda a few minutes ago was his first and he never had any romantic relationships with anyone else so he was more than just confused. Henry looked at her and still smiled because he was happy but unsure about what to do next as he thought back to what his brother have said to him about dating and love.
Henry made a mental note to owl his brother later and ask hid advice since he would be the best person to ask because Henry knew for a fact that Arthur had his first kiss in his first year with a third or fourth year who happened to be his first girlfriend as well. Henry thought back to his brother's love life which was quite full as his brother had multiple girlfriends a year or crushes, and Henry knew why since his brother was both a prefect, head boy, had remarkable grades, and was also sort of hot it was no wonder that he was amazing at the dating game but Henry however never experienced it first hand before so this was confusing to him.
Henry looked at Miranda and smiled as he spoke " that's great, I'm new to this but I promise that I will be the best at it for you." The 12 year old had no idea what he just got into as he spoke again " it's up to you, if you like to keep our love life a secret or not?"

Miranda's confusing emotions had just exploded. She'd never felt so conflicted before in her life. Even if several were quite clear and easy-to-understand, many more were quite the opposite. In fact, the only clear message she could get was that she was happy. No, make that ecstatic. Happy just didn't cover it anymore. But otherwise, it was a confusing mess. Apprehension mixed in with excitement, before being replaced by wonder and shock. It never stopped, and never lessened either,
"And I, you," Miranda replied simply, hoping she conveyed enough of her more positive emotions in those few words. There just wasn't any way to put how she felt into words, at least not without spouting enough to make an average book look pale in comparison. For a moment, she studied Henry. Then she shrugged, though still smiling. "As for secrecy, it truly doesn't matter for me, but why don't we keep it less known for the time being? That can change at any time, of course, but maybe it'll help things...progress more smoothly?" Miranda hoped Henry could get the gist of what she meant, since even she felt that she'd explained terribly. But she could think of no better ways, at least not for the moment.

Henry listened to Miranda and smiled when she was done, he was still feeling anxious and confused but also a overwhelming feelings of happiness and relief that he was able to express his feelings and how had both his first kiss and first girlfriend. However Henry was still feeling a bit uneasy as he never experienced anything like this before and he didn't want to miss it up for him or Miranda but usually families don't tell each other these things however Henry needed Arthur's help more than anything like right now and he would probably be glad to here some good news from everything else that is totally horrible and wrong.
Henry smiled at Miranda's blue eyes as he spoke " sounds good to me, keep our relationship in the down low then as we figured things out. Slowly uncovered it and bring it to the light," Henry smiled at Miranda and still couldn't believe that he had a girlfriend, usually this would be Arthur and he would only be hearing about it but now he had a girlfriend and would be experiencing it. Henry's heart was pounding and he was beyond happy as he stood their sort of grinning like a idiot.

@Henry KnightAfter she finished talking, Henry smiled widely. Miranda hoped that was a good sign, because although she was extremely joyful, she still felt a bit nervous that she'd end up doing something wrong and bring their whole relationship crashing down. But she knew shed most likely always feel that way, or at least for the foreseeable future. Doubts were a part of life. If one didn't doubt themselves every once and a while, they ran the risk of becoming dangerously arrogant.
"Exactly," Miranda replied with a nod after Henry spoke. "It should make things easier for the beginning. We can change that as time goes by."
She glanced around the courtyard from their position on the edge of the space. No one was nearby, which meant no one should be able to overhear them. That was a relief, at least. It would be annoying to have their secret revealed right away, before they could even begin to figure things out. Not that she was exactly sure what she was worrying about, since her parents wouldn't care, her brother would tease her, of course, but that was all, and most of the other students would only whisper and gossip. Which they did already, seeing as she wasn't fully human.

Henry listened to Miranda and agreed with her completely as he smiled before speaking " okay, that sounds great so what so we do now?" Henry didn't really know about any of the requirements or stuff that involved dating since he has never been in a romantic relationship before and would only hear about them from his brother, which if he took his brother's words to heart then that would require a lot of snogging or kissing something that the 12 year old couldn't do or could at least wait a year or so for. So Henry was stuck with what they should do now, with the only clear factor was sending his brother owl to ask for help and advice with his new relationship but they agreed to keep it a secret so should Henry tell his brother or not, how he was having too many thoughts in his head.
Bloody hell should I tell Arthur or not, maybe I should but we agreed to keep this a secret at least till later but that's just to friends and others at Hogwarts at families. Not that I will tell my family, just Arthur who would tell Annabeth bloody hell what should I do? Maybe I shouldn't but I need help so I should, nor shouldn't but it will be helpful but I still shouldn't... or should I? Ugh this is difficult...

Miranda thought the question over for a long moment. It was a good one, and an important one as well. One couldn't answer to hastily, not without possibly causing unforeseen complications in the future, which is something Miranda definitely didn't want. Things felt precarious already, after the suddenness of the recent revelations. She wasn't sure if things were actually as fragile as they seemed, but she didn't want to chance it just yet.
"I think we keep in touch." Miranda began simple, still trying to formulate the rest of her words as she spoke. "That shouldn't be too hard to begin with, seeing as we're both in the same school for most of the year. After that...well, I'm not really sure how to plan it. One step at a time, perhaps?"
She shot him a tentative smile, her normally racing thoughts slowing for the briefest moment as she simply enjoyed the moment. It was a rare moment that she could do that, since her brain seemed to constantly be mapping out possibilities, remembering different bits of information that may or may not be relevant to the current situation, or focusing on irrelevant things in her surroundings for reasons she did not yet comprehend.

Henry listened to Miranda and agree with her but also his anxiety and panic was rising in him as uneasy thoughts filled his head that made it hard to think or even stand for that matter. Keep in touch, keep in touch.... does she mean see each other in the corridor or eat together or does she mean something else by that? Ugh I wish I knew how to do this instead of guessing and worrying and panicking about what she meant by a few words. She's new to this to so she's right we'll figure it out slowly but how... ugh this is bloody difficult maybe I should day something or not? Just speak you bloody idiot but I can't... ugh what should I do, I can't mess this up so just take a deep breath.
Henry took a deep breath and almost lost his balance as he regained it before he tripped or fall, Henry hoped that Miranda didn't notice as he spoke " right that sounds good," Henry was then stumbling over his next few words as he then spoke " It's getting late, we should head back to our common rooms maybe?" That was terrible, Henry regretted speaking and wished that he was more like his brother when it came to romance.
