Miraculously, the boy had managed not to fall overboard when he was waving wildly at the girl. She also then heard Mr. Iwasaki yell something about a Giant Squid. Wait, hold up just one second here. A Giant Squid?!? Why in the world would there be a Giant Squid just... hangin' out in the lake that they were about to cross? This seemed rather dangerous for a bunch of first-years... she hoped they would stay close to Mr. Iwasaki and Professor Jensen.

Remi then mentioned something about feeling unwanted. Starlee couldn't help but sympathize with the boy, she certainly knew how that felt, but didn't want to share her entire backstory with these three new people. She wanted to make friends. It seemed Remi was thinking out loud, so she kept quiet until he asked about the houses.
"What houses you guys think you'll be in? My thoughts will be Slytherin or Ravenclaw. I know I'm either good at being sleek or smart."
Starlee pondered this. She barely knew anything about the Hogwarts houses, only about Ilvermorny's houses. Gryffindors were brave, Hufflepuffs were nice, Ravenclaws were smart, and Slytherins were ambitious. So... which one was she? She had pondered this the whole train ride and thought that she was most likely a Ravenclaw. She loved learning; if her fathers now severely worn out potions and herbology books showed anything about that.

She turned to Remi to answer, "I think I will be in Ravenclaw! I have quite a passion for learning, and my father was a Horned Serpent at Ilvermorny, which I am told is similar to Ravenclaw!" She smiled at the end, clearly excited yet nervous about the impending ceremony. She also wondered if she and Remi would both be sorted into Ravenclaw. 'And... well...' she thought a little more about his house choices. 'Perhaps the boy isn't a Ravenclaw... he managed to not have the foresight to know that standing up could topple the boat over.' However, she chalked it all up to being over-excitable. After all, this was a brand new experience!

Starlee looked at Remi intently and said "I also hope to make some good friends. She paused, and then added while giggling, "But I'm not sure I am ready to be constantly put in danger if you keep acting so impulsively!"

Her mind drifted to other thoughts as the boats slowly began to take off, drifting off and becoming almost entirely enclosed by the mist, making it impossible to see the other boats. 'Who knew if she and the three others would become friends? What would it mean if they were all sorted into different houses?' By now she couldn't see Mr. Iwasaki or Professor Jensen in the boat that was supposed to be just ahead of them and she grew concerned. She tried not to let it show, but her face did scrunch up a bit as she looked around her group.

"I hope we will all be okay... I can't see any of the other boats anymore..." She said, trying not to sound concerned.

The journey to Hogwarts so far had been long and tiresome for the young brunette who had left the life that she knew behind her saying a farewell to her beloved parents as she boarded the Hogwarts Express what seemed like days ago. Sitting in the compartment of choice alone for most of the journey as day turned into night finally the train would come to its final destination halting to a stop as students both new and old arrived at their final destination Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Heading off the train the cool night air caressing the girls paled skin Orianna pulled her robes tighter around herself trying to mask the chill as she gazed around at the staff and students alike at the station as they went about their own business when suddenly Orianna would hear a masculine voice calling out to the first years.

Leaving her trunk and travel bag as prompted by the male the brunette made her way across to his location with all of the other first-years remaining silent as she did so the chatter and experience so far becoming a little overwhelming for the once country girl as she arrived at the meeting point. Stood ahead of her was an elder man who was tall in stature and dressed in what could only be seen as some kind of caretakers outfits looking rather sickly not that Orianna would dare to ask any questions especially upon her arrival. Heading down towards some kind of Lake the man would go on to introduce himself as the caretaker of Hogwarts Marcus Iwasaki before introducing the female companion by his side as Professor Jenson who was also the head of the house of Slytherin.

Nodding with a polite smile as she boards the fifth boat when prompted learning this would be the way they got to see the school for the very first time Orianna would notice she was not alone and already inside of the boat was a young dark-haired female as she found a seat nearby the young female remaining seated not wanting to become squid chowder anytime soon as the boats undocked from the shoreline slowly making their way towards Hogwarts as the male caretaker and other students went on to speak about something called the sorting ceremony.

Distracted a little by the waves and movement as Orianna had never been on a boat before to keep herself occupied she turned her gaze towards the dark-haired female seated nearby with a gentle smile of greeting spread across her lips as she turned to speak for the very first time to the girl in question. "Hello, You don't mind me sitting here do you?" her voice calm, collected and melodic as she spoke with a smile worried she was disturbing the girl in question or that the seat she had taken belonged to another first year.

The train ride hadn't been too bad! So Edna was still excited! She had heard about the entrances to the school from her father. He spoke about how every year had a different entrance, and that the first year was a good one! As she hopped off the train, Edna had to hold herself back from skipping. Her robe fit her a bit too big- because her mom assured her she would 'grow into it.' So, the girl kept having to stop and adjust her sleeves or pull it out from under her feet. Honestly, even with the awkwardness of her robe, this was amazing!

Edna's eyes went wide when she saw the boats. They got to ride boats! Awesome! Just like privates! As the boats started filling, Edna quickly trotted over to a boat with two other girls in them. One of them looked familiar! She had been on the train with her, right? Edna tripped on her large robes on the docks just before approaching the boat. She managed to catch herself and get to the boat with a wide grin as she climbed in.

”Ah hope ya don' mind if ah sit 'ere! Da othah boats all lo'k re'lly full!” she exclaimed with a nod and a wide grin. Edna would wave to the others in her boat as she sat down, quickly adjusting herself to sit against the outer side of the boat, looking down into the murky water curiously. When the boats took off, Edna cheered excitedly- probably ruining the somberness of the first approach to Hogwarts. She turned to look to her boat mates, grinning widely as she greeted them properly.

”Ets nice ta be in da same boat as ya- Ahm Edna Wa----”

Suddenly, the waves of the boat didn't feel so cool and adventurous. Instead, they felt rough and like her insides were being shaken up. The girl covered her mouth with her hand before leaning over the side of the boat and upchucking over the edge. Well, at least the fish would have a snack.

As Callista got off the train, she spotted the dark water and felt a pang of fear. Keep it together... she thought to herself. She spotted a man with dark skin that introduced himself as Mr. Iwasaki, the caretaker, and the pretty woman beside him as Professor Jensen, the head of Slytherin house. Callista tried to focus and caught the bit about four to a boat. She started to feel very uneasy, partly because of the water but also because of something she couldn't quite explain. Squeezing her eyes shut and then opening them, she steeled herself and walked to the closest boat. The other ones seemed to be full - Callista counted quickly and realized that there were four in each already. There was another one with three people, and Callista worried whether she should join or not. Perhaps she should just get in an empty one? But the thought of being alone on these treacherously dark waters made her heart squeeze, so she walked over.

"U-um, hi... I'm, um, Callista Lovis? C-" she started nervously. Her palms had become sweaty at some point, and she wiped them on her robes. Then one of the girls, who seemed to have been introducing herself, threw up over the side of the boat. This made Callista feel rather nauseated, and she looked away. "A-are you okay, miss?" she asked tentatively. "Um, c-can I sit here..?" Callista added nervously.

She glanced towards the water again and gulped. She really, really, really didn't want to get on a boat. Especially at night... over a deep lake... with a giant squid... She desperately hoped that it would be quick.

The Voyage Ambience

Boarding one of the small four-seater boats at the docks of the smaller sized ports of Hogwarts with the rest of the gathered first years about to start their very first journey into the ancient school that was known as Hogwarts, Orianna was feeling slightly nervous as she boarded the boat just after one dark-haired female asking for permission to join her [Abigail] taking a spare seat on board trying to move along with the movement of the calming waves beneath the boat planning to stay seated after the male caretaker had prompted the first years to do so due to the legend of the giant squid the lake played home to.

Typing up her long curled brunette hair into a loose ponytail as she waited patiently for two more students to take their place upon the boat she was currently seated in so that they could undock and start their voyage across the lake in the direction of the school as she spotted some of the other boats start pulling away from the docks before noticing one more girl whom she had met during the train journey on the Hogwarts Express that she knew as the red-headed giddy Scot Edna Watts but instead of wearing what she had on the train which was an orange shaded cardigan and a pair of blue jean-type trousers, the young girl was now dawned in her overly large school robes much like Orianna herself.

Tripping over the skirting of the robes almost instantly before even managing to get into the boat a look of concern came across the already paled complexion of the Lightfoot girl as she observed from a distance readying herself to help Edna if needed due to the way that her mother who worked within the medical field in the muggle world had raised her. Hearing Edna say that she hoped that it was fine for her to join the two of them on the boat in her typical Scottish slang, Orianna smiled warmly across in her direction replying almost instantly "That's fine by me the more the merrier and what better way to experience our first arrival to Hogwarts than together eh?" she smiled clearly a little excited but not sure what to expect at all or why the first-year students had been separated from the rest of the school.

Watching Edna take a seat as she looked into the depths of the darkened murky water beneath the boat with curiosity in her eyes, Orianna couldn't help but smile as she noticed another female making her way over in the direction of the fifth boat. The final girl was around the same height as the three sat currently within the boat, her dark hair tied up neatly as she introduced herself to the three of them upon approach as Callista Lovis as suddenly the sound of vomiting masked the air around the boat catching Orianna off guard as she turned to see that Edna was a little sea-sick before even undocking from the shoreline and was in the midst of vomiting over the side of the boat to which Callista asked if she was alright before asking further if she could join them on the boat.

"I think someone may be feeling a little queazy, I have some gum that could help mother always said how mint helps to settle the stomach" Orianna smiled across to Edna and Callista offering her hand out with a packet of gum towards Edna after she got them out of the pockets of her robes. "Its a pleasure to meet you Callista, I'm happy for you to join we can all experience this together" she smiled once more this time speaking directly to Callista as she moved across a little to make extra room in the boat knowing how it would now be full and almost time to pull away from the shore, their final approach just minutes away or so she initially thought.

The girls settling in soon enough once they were ready the boat slowly moved away from the shoreline lit only in candlelight from the minimal candles spread about the boat as they headed out onto the dark watery depths hardly any surroundings insight as the shoreline shrunk out of sight behind them, the cool breeze and smell of saltwater masking the air around the boat with the rhythmic movements the further from the shore they got until nothing but silence, peace and solitude just the sound of the waves beneath them and the slow breathing of the girls the sound of her own heartbeat inside her ears as she smiled inhaling deeply to remember the scene around them not wanting to disturb the three girls she was within this moment.

Elisabeth smiled at Robert. "Oh, don't worry, Robert," she said, trying to assure him. "English is our official language, so everyone can understand it perfectly fine. Although, I must say, I myself am not very sure which variant of English we're really using. American English is the most logical one because of the geographical position, but we were colonialised by the United Kingdom so perhaps... it's a mix between British and American Englishes?"

After a slight pause, she continued, "Most people speak Belize Kriol though, or what some called 'broken English'. Spanish is the second most-used language in everyday context, but this is what I speak with my papá and relatives from his side."

"What's it like?" Robert asked again, and this time it kind of stumped Elisabeth. It is true that people tend to take for granted whatever is familiar with them, so that when it comes to basic question like this, most often find it difficult to answer. Therefore, the Asian-Latinx girl attempted to describe whatever she knew and let her three boat mates to decide by themselves what adjective best described her country of origin.

"Um... it's famous for its underwater scenery as a part of the Caribbean countries?" she tried. "It has tropical climate. All year long, the temperature just ranges from... let's see... I think it's 25 to 30 degrees. Wonderful for me. There's no need to buy and store different kinds of coats, tank tops, or button downs."

Rohan had never been out of Great Britain. He would like to see other parts of the world one day, but because his parents never had (or actually, made) time, they had never been on holiday out of Great Britain. Also, no longer then 3 days.

When he heard that both Akari and Elisabeth weren't born in the UK, he was kind of jealeous that they had a reason to visit another country. He did not like talking about this subject of countries, because he didn't know much about it, and wasn't really interested in it, either. Since Robert said something about school subjects, he decided to (try to) move the subject of the conversation.

"I didn't have Spanish.. I did do some latin, though. Did you know latin for money is pecunia? A lot of modern English, and French, and Spanish, words are based on latin?"

He was quite good at latin. He liked it. He did have some Greek language aswell, but didn't like that as much. The size of the Roman empire really impressed him, and that made him love the latin language even more.

He suddenly thought about his rat. Was he being fed by the house elves properly? Or would he be very hungry when they arrived at Hogwarts? Speaking of Hogwarts..
Where was the castle? He was kinda disappointed that the fog hid the castle from his view. He would've loved to see it a little earlier.

Leaving her trunk behind didn't seem like the best thing to do. But she also didn't want to get in trouble on the first day at this new school. So, with reluctance, she set down her luggage, quickly glancing at it once more before following the voice that had called out to the first years. It was already incredibly dark, the gathering of students preventing any of the lights from reaching too far. Lea was rather thankful that she wasn't any shorter, weaving between a few more people to get to the edge of the lake.

Brown eyes would try to get a good look at the two staff members, trying to remember the names to faces for a little later. It seemed like a good idea to not get the staff confused- or even to forget their names. For courtesy reasons, for if she had to talk to them later, and for if she got in trouble. Hopefully the last option wouldn't happen often- or at all.

"Only four," she repeated softly to herself, followed by a nod. She'd shift closer to the docked boats, occasionally counting how many people were in each. Currently, it seemed like she'd get a boat of her own- she didn't know how to feel about that. Normally, she enjoyed talking to people, but today she was someplace completely new- preferring to keep to herself. Getting into the boat wasn't too hard, trying to make sure that she kept herself and the boat centered long enough to scamper in. The young girl was startled by the shout of "Elisabeth!" quickly glancing to see where the noise had come from. It was too dark to really notice anything.

The moon was out though, allowing some ripples to distort its reflection in the black water. The lights attached to the boat also created their own reflections, more distorted due to the rocking of her boat and the boats of others near her. She'd wait for others to gather in her boat, but if not, Lea would depart, taking in the view of the new school and the bright moon across the large lake. It was a beautiful view, really, although there was a little bit of resentment towards the whole school and having to be here. Perhaps it would've looked nicer if the young girl hadn't also felt homesick and annoyed.

All of had already exchanged names, Abigail thought she should probably do the same, with a bit of luck they were at least wizard-born or half-blood... They all seemed happy to share a boat with whoever was there, Abigail really hoped she'll be one of those and wouldn't come off as strange.

Hi! My name is Abigail Ravenmoon, it's a great pleasure to share this boat ride to the castle with each of you. Edna, are you from Scotland by any chance? I don't have the accent but I am from there too. Do you have any idea of which House you want to be sorted into?

Exceptionally she felt confident enough to not stutter on her introduction, to her future classmates. She spoke to them with a shy smile on her face and a very formal tone in her voice. The girl was still not used to the world outside of her manor, she hoped the castle will feel as homely as the family mansion. It would probably be a little weird to share a room, but if the girls she shares it with are nice it shouldn't be a problem. One last question was in her mind, and she softly asked it to the three other girls on her boat before turning silent, waiting for their answers...

So, I am a little curious... What is your upbringing?

When they were told that there was a giant squid in the lake Akari looked around with eyes that were starting to fill with worry and had a slight knot forming in her stomach. A giant squid? Is it dangerous? Why did no one tell her about it before? Surely if it was dangerous her father or brother would have told her... right? None of the other students seemed concerned about it so she just shoved her thoughts away and averted her focus back to the conversation with her boat mates.

Elisabeth had told them she was born in Belize, and it turns out Robert speaks some Spanish.
Akari looked back and forth between them with wide eyes. She wished she spoke another language, she understands a decent bit of Japanese because of her father, but much to her disappointment had never taught her how to speak fluently which was quite frustrating to her. And Rohan had just said that he had learnt some latin. She was quite impressed with all the skills of these kids.

"I didn't have Spanish.. I did do some latin, though. Did you know latin for money is pecunia? A lot of modern English, and French, and Spanish, words are based on latin?"
Rohan told them.

"Pecunia..." Akari repeated quietly and was rather fascinated by the sound of latin.

Finally she started up and spoke with a slightly annoyed tone "My father is from Japan, so he speaks Japanese, but unfortunately never taught me how to speak"
