Stumbling in the Corridors PV closed

Bella stood, slightly panic looking to check if she had everything she needed. She knew she was late to her lesson, but she couldn't think of anything worse than not being with her book. Her professor would not be impressed with her lateness, however, Bella's priorities were somewhere else. She looked and looked again, hoping to spot the maroon cover the book possessed.

I swear I put the book in here... It has to be.

In her panicked state, Bella fails to notice the person rushing straight at her. With a big nudge to her shoulder, the two fall onto the floor in a messy state. Bella's foot gives an almighty sting. Covering up the pain, she instantly turns to help the other girl up hoping she came out alright.

The girl quickly strings out multiple apologies, explaining why they had tumbled down. Allowing her to finish, Bella smiles and starts picking up her books. "It's okay! Nobody was hurt, it's all good." she assures the girl. She must have been the same age as Bella and late to class. This was a chance to find the confidence to make friends.

"I'm Bella, I'm guessing you're late for class also?" Bella composes herself, smiling.

"Hm? Oh yeah," Melissa replied. So I'm not the only person late today, she thought. It made her feel better because now, she knew that it wasn't going to be only her who's going to be late. Melissa started picking up her things. Her books and supplies were scattered everywhere. "Great...now I'll be even later to class now," she murmured to herself. She was almost done cleaning up when she found a book with a maroon cover. Melissa didn't recognize it which probably meant it wasn't hers but it was there which meant someone had dropped it.

"Hey uh, is this yours?" she asked Bella. It was weird because anyone could've dropped a book in the corridor but Bella was the only one there. Melissa continued to pick up her last few books, waiting for Bella to reply. Should I just skip class? she wondered. It was the easiest way to avoid her professor talking about being late and having to stay late to catch up but what would be the consequences? I would probably get detention if I get caught though...

Melissa wondered what Bella was thinking about. Maybe she was thinking the same thing or maybe she wasn't. There are so many possibilities for what anyone could think about. "What class are you late for?" she asked. Then, she waited for Bella's reply.

Relief spreads over Bella at the sight of her book in Melissa's hands. Smiling, she takes the book graciously, "yes! thank you, I knew I had put it in there.".

She takes the rest of the books Melissa had also helped pick up, sending a kind smile as a thanks. Her books now all a crumpled mess, she looked down at how disorganised everything really was. Bella was never one to watch over her things, she often left them somewhere she would easily lose them. She had yet, however, to lose her homework.

She continues answering Melissa's question, while putting her books back into her worn out bag. "I'm, uh, late for Potions... I know, probably the worst class to be late to." Bella sighs, rolling her eyes yet smiling. She knew the Professor would be so angry and she would surely be getting a detention, or at least would have points taken off of Gryffindor.

Being late for class at the start of her Hogwarts adventure wasn't what Bella expected. Having a bad reputation with the Professors would surely mean her father's disappointment. Bella smiles at the conversation they would have, her father would be upset yet she knew full well he was a troublemaker during his time at Hogwarts.

"Oh really? Me too!", Melissa replied. She was kind of surprised because how could two people be late for the same class and accidentally run into each other? It was such a coincidence. To be honest, potions really was the worst class to be late for because you might miss the first part of the lesson or the potion-making. Melissa like it better when she lived with her dad. She had a private tutor who waited for her if she's late. Like who starts the class without all of the students? Maybe I'm just spoiled, Melissa thought. Her family was kind of rich. Not crazy rich though. Just richer than most families.

"So uh, we better get going," Melissa finally said, "I don't want to be any later than I was." She dreaded being scolded by both her professor and her father when he hears about this. He used to be fun and cool but after her mother's death, he became extremely strict and protective. It was sometimes annoying but at least he's sometimes nice. He still gave her the money to buy a pet back in Diagon Alley. She knew inside that he just wanted to be happy but he doesn't show it very well. "Are you coming?" Melissa asked as she walked towards the stairs.

"Are you coming?"

Composing herself, Bella nods her head and smiles. It was a relief knowing she wasn't the only one late for Potions, at least she won't be alone entering the classroom. She pictures herself entering the cold dungeon classroom alone, everyone staring at her and the professor giving her detention; she shudders at the thought.

"Yeah! Coming!" she says enthusiastically to her, catching up quickly to her. Bella's bag lightly hits her leg with every step, her ginger hair bouncing with each stride. The worry almost disappearing from her completely, knowing she wasn't alone.

Bella decides to keep this quiet from her father, it wasn't something he needed to know. She'd leave it out on the next owl she sent him, which was soon. Every week she vowed to send one, to update him on everything that happened; she knew it was so he could relive some bits of school through her.

Bella realised whilst walking alongside the also ginger haired girl that she never introduced herself, their conversation seemed so normal. In the rush of everything they had forgotten that simple question. Smiling, Bella glances her way, "I forgot to say earlier after we fell over, I'm Bella.". She looks forward again, hoping she doesn't trip along the way.
