“I've made a few good friends. Lots of Gryffindors…” the boy told her.
Lindsey nodded. Lots of lions? For her, it was only one, maybe even two, if Marshal eventually got sorted in Gryffindor. Eyre was a lucky lad by all means.
She wandered carelessly. Where was Lizzie by the way? And Marshal? She searched for the boy. He must be somewhere near, for he was so amazed by all wizard things. However she failed. Marshal seemed…not present at the event.
She yawned. It was late, and somehow the badger missed their warm common room. She noticed Eyre was a bit sleepy as well. Maybe it was the trait of all teenagers. She remembered the poor old Mr Harriman telling all neighbors about how long the young ladies and gentlemen slept everyday. His theories were rather dump speaking out by his mouth, but, seemed had some scientific evidences.
“M Sorry… I'm so sleepy…” Eyre muttered.
She gave a friendly smile to the boy. “Actually me too.” she told him. “Today’s pretty late.
The Gryffindor boy stood up. I should probably head back to my tent, I have a letter to send to Ana, and it's getting rather late. It was very kind of you to check on me… I hope to see you around.”
Letters…? Lindsey just remembered she had promised Leonard to send him some letters during summer. And, sadly, she had finished none. Probably she would write one tonight…maybe he knew Eyre already? That would be fun, indeed.
“I might be leaving as well. Good to see you tonight.” she paid another smile to Eyre.
Eventually, the young badger stood up, and decided to leave.

Breana mentally kicked herself for forgetting tonight's event, which was the Stargazing Event. This was one of the few ones that she looked forward to as well. In her hometown, stargazing was her second hobby in the muggle world, next to reading books of course. Every now and then, back when she lived with her family, Breana would look over from her bedroom window, just to see if there are any stars out there. Not a full-on telescope experience, but just to see if she can make her own version of constellations in her head. It's one of the few hobbies that she picked up on that her parents didn't influence her on.

Unfortunately, as soon as she arrived at Grove Park, her expression turned sour as she saw a good gaggle of students already on good spots to stargaze. Breana frowned, but still, it was nice to see a lot of people enjoying the same interests she has. Despite that, she doesn't see any familiar faces... at least, not yet. She saw the tarot reading table, making a mental note to check it out after her little stargazing moment. She has a bit of a mission in her hands, and that is to see if she can see her fake constellation tonight. It's a silly mission, but it'd be nice to see it in clearer skies now.

Then a sudden loud vehement laughter disrupted the peaceful night. Thankfully, it led Breana to find someone that she knew well enough. It was Aaron Jones, the very boy that got her the tentmates she was already interacting with. The source of the laughter, however, was someone she doesn't recognize at all. She looked fun enough, though. Hopefully, she wasn't interrupting them on a potential date? Well, there was one way to find out, so Breana walked up to the two. Luckily enough, that worry was diminished as Aaron was walking over to some other students nearby. Might be a great time as any for her to join in on the introductions.

"Hope I ain't interruptin' a good mixer from you lot." Breana said, adding a little wave as she looked over at Aaron. "It's been WAY too long, Aaron. We gots a lotsa catching up to do, yeah?" She grinned, before turning her attention to the others. She's never talked to the Slytherin, but she did catch a glimpse of her with a camera on hand every now and then. She nodded a hello to her. "Hiya. Breana Oliveire." She said meekly. She noticed the other lad already leaving the group, heading for the tarot table. Maybe she can talk to him later on when she gets there as well? Then her attention gravitated to the youngest of the three. A new first-year, perhaps? She wasn't sporting any house-related accessories... Breana didn't know that newcomers were allowed on the trip.

"I am sure he didn't leave because of you," the near fourth year further on assured the girl he had known to refer to as May. The two of them had met a couple of times by now and yet the Gryffindor knew nothing about her aside from her name, but that was alright as the two of them were only acquaintances, at least as far as he could tell. When a more or less familiar face joined them, he would smile at Mars, nodding towards them in a form of greeting. "Hey, coming to see the stars?" he would ask her, to include her in the conversation instantly and steering it away from the topic of Aaron, as May seemed to be sure that he was not fond of her.

Sheepdogs sounded like a cute kind of dog and as soon as he saw the photo that Carolyn had of her dog, his eyes lit up as he leaned over to take a look at it. "She is absolutely beautiful and Morgana is a great name!" he complimented the dog even though it was not there to take the praise. Dogs were amazing but Alan basically liked every kind of animal, especially if they were cute, like dogs. Alan would lean up a little and take a look into the picnic basket, choosing a sandwich with ham for himself that he began to eat as soon as he sat down, focusing on listening to the conversation momentarily instead of talking, so that he could eat in peace.

Aisling's bright blue eyes went wide with shock as Aaron revealed that he was playing in the Quidditch game. "Wait...you're going to fly a broom and play Quidditch?" She clutched onto her star chat a little more tightly, and in her excitement her nails nearly cut through the paper. Realizing her error she loosened her grip and chuckled, taking a moment to smooth out the wrinkles. "Wow! All of the other houses?" The sparkle in her eyes could have rivaled the stars in the sky at that moment. She looked up and away from Aaron, trying to imagine just how high he and his teammates might fly during the match. The thought of flying so high made the hairs on her arms rise with excitement. Oh, it'd be thrilling to watch- she couldn't wait!

"Oh, I hope so!" Snapping back to the conversation she laughed. "I'm really excited to make some new friends. Being the new kid can be pretty lame sometimes." It wasn't something she had personally dealt with, but Rye was popular and new kids on the block were fairly common from time to time. There were also multiple movies and other pop culture references that gave weight to her assumption.

"Friends and memories," Aisling repeated firmly, as if his words were law and she would abide by them until she died. "Sounds easy enough!" Aisling was personable enough that friends came rather easy, and what better way to make memories than with a merry gang of companions? His advice was simple, yet useful, and she couldn't fault him for that one bit.

The thought of being connected through others through magic caught her off guard. He was right, but it also made her consider just how disconnected she might become from her own family and muggle friends. None of them were magical like her, and it made her slightly uncomfortable to imagine a world without them. Sure, her family was aware of it now, but they could never be a part of it in the same way she was and would be now and forever. It made her sad, but only for a moment, and she did her best to hide her confusion behind yet another bright smile. There's no use in being upset, she thought to herself, they'll always be a part of my life.

The offer to meet someone new was a welcomed distraction, and Aisling enthusiastically agreed. "Yes, of course!" Without hesitation she folded up her star chart and followed Aaron's lead towards Santario and Howard. It didn't take her long to notice who they were headed towards, and so each was given a proper once over and a sickeningly sweet smile.

"Hi! Santario? That's a really cool name. It's very nice to meet you." And she meant it. So enchanted by the Slytherin's name Aisling repeated it once more beneath her breath in appreciation.

Lifting a free hand she wiggled her fingers at the two of them, her attention lingering on Howard as she added, "Nice to meet you, as well!" However, he appeared pretty intent on excusing himself, so she didn't try and force him to linger with added conversation. "Oh, bye!" Looking ahead of Howard she surmised where he was going, and it got her brain ticking about the possibility of getting a read herself. Oh, but what would she even ask?

She didn't get a chance to think about it for too long, as it was about that time Breana walked up, and Aisling's good-natured smile widened in greeting. "The more the merrier," she practically sang to the girl, clasping her hands together in glee at the prospect of meeting yet another Hogwarts student. And, it seemed she even knew Aaron, which immediately put Breana in Aisling's friend book by association.

Whether or not Breana was introducing herself to Aisling the redhead extended a hand and said, "Aisling Collins! It's really nice to meet you. This will be my first year at Hogwarts." Just in case Breana didn't notice her outstretched hand she also wiggled her fingers invitingly.
Sorry for the delay, got busy IRL! ♥

“To agree to disagree for now is most certainly a sign of good conversationalists. One way or another time will show how it works, so comparing notes would be interesting.” While neither of them probably knew it yet, they did have someone in common, and because of that commonality, they would undoubtedly have opportunities in the future to speak. Whether the conversation remained pleasant or not, only time would tell, but for now, good terms were certainly had.

As Howard rose from his seat Santario did not, she would wait for his invitation for her to join him, one that would not come at the appearance of Aaron Jones and a girl she had never seen before. The semi-openness that she had, had with Howard was replaced with a socially expected smile on her face. Aaron was quick with introductions, and while Santario typically would have introduced her companion, Howard beat her to the punch and announced his departure. “I do wish you the best of luck with the answers you seek.” She bid Howard his farewell before turning her attention to Aaron, Aisling, and now Breana. “A pleasure to meet you, Aisling, please everyone take a seat.” She offered as she had still not bothered to stand up from her own. “I’m Santario.” She offered to Breana never offering her surname in her own introductions, whether it was because she was lazy or just didn’t care to no one would really know.

“Looking forward to your first year Aisling?” If there was anything Santario was good at, it was social engagements though it could be noticed that she seemed a bit formal, possibly too formal. All thanks to that wealthy pureblood upbringing. Santario picked up a piece of fruit on her plate that had previously gone ignored and popped it into her mouth as her sapphire blues observed the three before her.

Rosalind turned away from the two girls she had been speaking to, assuming the pair would have their own little conversation to interpret the Seer's reading. Professor Kibitzer was a busy lady after all, and there were more students in line - more hungry minds that needed feeding, hunting for their fates in decks of cards and jars of bones. The approach of @Howard White prompted a small nod of greeting from the professor, her wrinkles highlighted by the light source on the table, sending an orange glow upward across her face. A perfect setup for her to tell spooky stories, at least.

"Come along, I'll take care of you while the girls mull over their own fate," she said, beckoning Howard closer and waving the girls off to the side - they were welcome to continue pestering her, but she did not want to neglect the other students. "What's on your mind, young man?"

Young man seemed more appropriate for what seemed like one of the oldest kids she could see at the event. Older kids were far less concerned with novelties like fortune-telling. Their concerns were material. Things like fitting in, being liked, rebelling against authority, and other teenage pursuits. But "older kids" was still all they were. "Ask and let me light the way." The woman smiled, though she had something of a sour expression as she dropped a line straight from the mystic routine. Ah, well.

Ileen’s mouth dropped open when Dee ‘translated’ her thoughtful diplomatic description of forcing all the idiots at Hogwarts to finally shut up. She wanted to protest indignantly, hesitated, and then closed her mouth again. It was true, though. She wouldn’t deny it. She just wouldn’t have put it into these words. Dee was clearly not intimidated enough to not get back at Ileen for dragging her here. Well, still – it was the truth. At least she would get an answer to the less vague question… wouldn’t she?
Ileen looked at the professor with a mixture of defiance and tension. Would she be mad at them for calling at least some students idiots? Would she laugh at the kids? Would she send them away or point out the rules, like the last professor overhearing their ‘unconventional methods’?
But no. The professor just repeated the questionable methods without any audible judgement and rolled the bones.
Ileen’s concern changed into surprised delight and a small smile curled her lips. How cool was that? A professor who didn't send them away but took her worrying findings about school seriously. She should probably take Divination in third year.

Curiously, the young Slytherin stretched her neck to see what Professor Kibitzer was doing. The bones fell on the small table and formed a pattern from which Ileen could not interpret anything. She tilted her head and squinted her eyes. With a lot of imagination, the few bones could represent a handkerchief. But only with a lot of imagination and the young Slytherin doubted very much that it would work like this. Still she had to grin. That would be hilarious though.
The professor seemed to be pleasantly surprised by the mysterious pattern and even used Dee’s words to confirm Ileen’s question. Okay. Ileen would for sure take Divination in third year. With sparkling eyes, she gave Professor Kibitzer a bright smile. “Thank you, Professor. It’s good to know that there is still hope after all!

To not hold up the line that had been forming behind them, Ileen stepped aside and turned to Dee with a malicious smirk on her face. “You see?” She dramatically threw her hands in the air and stretched them to the sky. “The bones approve!” Happily, she bounced up and down on the balls of her feet. “Now, it’s our responsibility to actually do something!
Ileen couldn’t stop smirking. This was the best evening in the camp so far. And she would gladly listen to the bones and do her very best to make the idiots shut up. “You have to agree it was totally worth it!” These words were meant for Dee.

On the outside, under the light of the relatively-full moon, Dmitri's face was unreadable. It would look to others as if this small gesture of returning the map to the boy lying prone on the bench was like any other—merely a semiconscious act void of any emotion: just a boy handing a piece of paper to another boy.

But they would not realize just how much of a large step the Slytherin was taking.

It felt surreal—like wading through deep water in the eerie light of a full moon. It didn't feel like his actions. It didn't feel like... him.

Dmitri's hand felt foreign as it stretched toward the prone Ravenclaw. His skin felt electric as their fingertips brushed softly against each other. His breathing felt forced as he dropped his hand to the side after the brief interaction.

And for a moment, he allowed himself to just... be.

It was surprising how much of a change has happened to the boy the past year. Now that Dmitri thought about it, the boy from a year ago would absolutely not recognize the Dmitri that existed at this very moment. He would've taken one look and deemed the older him inadequate—as if somehow, this one social interaction was a poor and illogical life decision he knew to be deplorable yet chose to take anyway.

At the back of his mind, Dmitri felt inclined to agree.

It seemed, after deciding on confronting his problems head-on (instead of waiting for them to disappear like they always did before... before some darkness-spiders proved him wrong) the boy started giving in to his impulses more and more.

It showed in the last Blossom Ball, Dmitri's first in his whole three years. A few years back, the Slytherin would have never even considered stepping foot into that audacious, pretentious, unnecessary event. And yet, there he was.

Now that he thought about it, maybe that's why he unconsciously gravitated towards the boy in front of him.

He was there.

He was there along with two other girls who fought alongside Dmitri against killer moth-wasps. And case-in-point, a few months before that, the Slytherin would have never, under threat of death, worked with anyone.

But he wouldn't have survived that attack if it weren't for the others.

The more Dmitri thought about it, the more he was pushed to believe that maybe it wasn't so bad to not be alone after a—

But that was the problem, wasn't it?

He snatched his hand away and pulled it towards his chest defensively, almost as if it was just burnt.

This—all of this—was a mistake.

To the pair's invitation to sit and watch the stars, the Slytherin spat the cold, harsh vitriol he was known for, "Sorry. I have better things to do with my time than stare at unreachable, distant, non-living balls of gas eating themselves up from the inside." A wild, haunted look can be seen from inside the boy's brown eyes. None of the overly-dramatic words Dmitri was spouting made sense to anyone but him. To others, he would simply look and sound unhinged, though unprovoked. But the words held weight. They all came from a dark place in his heart—so dark, not even a star's gentle light can shine through. "One minute they're there, and the next they're not. You think they'll always be there for you in your darkest nights, but they'll all fucking disappear in the light of day!"

And with those last emotional, dramatic words, Dmitri ran.

Dmitri ran because he knew he let himself go.

Dmitri ran because he realized he wasn't as in control of his emotions as he thought.

Dmitri ran because he let himself feel something he had never allowed himself to feel for a long time.

Hope.

It scared, shamed, mortified him all in the span of an exchange, a brushing of hands, an invitation to sit.

And so he ran.

And he did not look back.

She felt… relaxed, for once. It was a good feeling, like she was at peace and any problems she had would solve themselves. The stars didn't care about the problems of young students. The stars wouldn't judge, wouldn't hate, wouldn't lie to her. They were far, far away, and the only interaction she could have with them from here was appreciating their beauty and being in awe at the vast universe that she lived in.

She was surrounded by people and quiet chatter, but no one was bothering her. She didn't have to deal with them, as they were staying in their own areas, catching up with friends, laughing, or dealing with drama. Whatever people did. And then someone decided to approach her. It could have gone so wrong, been some frustratingly bubbly younger kid who she didn't have the patience to deal with. But no, this was a girl from her year. A Slytherin. A familiar face. Illowy. They shared classes and saw each other around the school, but the last time they had properly interacted was at the ball, if she wasn't mistaken.

Like any Hogwarts event, it had gone south and turned into chaos. When she had seen Illowy, it had been before that. They had been dressed up and ready for a pleasant evening. Well, both of them probably expected something to go wrong, but Ruby, at least, kept hoping that it would turn out to be fine, just once. Illowy had looked beautiful and confident and had been talking with Margo. And if Margo cared about their housemate, so did Ruby. She was now asking if she could join the prefect. Why not? Ruby didn't have anyone else that she wanted to talk to, and Illowy seemed pleasant.

“Of course, please go ahead.” Her voice was warm and welcoming and she offered a soft smile of her own to match Illowy's. She glanced up at the stars and then back to her companion. “If you don't mind me asking, what brings you here? Do you have a fondness for Astronomy or is it just because it's an outing?” Ruby didn't know what Illowy was comfortable with or where her boundaries were. It was different for everyone, and because she didn't know the other Slytherin that well, she would have to try to gauge it as they went along rather than drawing from previous memories. While she waited for a response, her gaze wandered back up to the night sky.

Truthfully, Illowy didn't know much about the other Slytherin aside from seeing her around the Slytherin Common Areas, in classes, or the the short interactions they'd had at this past Blossom Ball, which had been an utter fiasco and she'd lost contact with the group just before the chaos. However, she seemed lovely enough, Illowy had never really heard anyone talk badly about Ruby before, and so there didn't seem to be any harm in at least trying to get to know the girl. What was the worst that could happen?

It was a relief when the Prefect agreed to let her join her, having worried for just a moment that she might be turned away, and that would have been minor embarrassment. The girl tried her best to hide how awkward she felt, readjusting her cardigan once more around herself as she took a seat next to the other, crossing her legs beneath herself and letting her own pale gaze lift up towards the stars quietly until the other spoke up once more, inquiring why she was at the event in the first place.

Illowy shrugged, "Nighttime and me have a love-hate relationship, but I like the quietness of it." she explained, tucking a tress of dark hair behind her ear, "Honestly, I don't know much about the stars though, I just thought I might as well try to be social if I'm already here. Ye know? Not much of a point in coming if you're just going to coop up in a tent all summer."

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.
