Upon arriving in Hogwarts Aoife had made it her personal goal to know every inch of the castle like the back of her hand. For the first few days, she'd spent her time exploring every corridor and room that she could gain access to. And a few that she probably wasn't supposed to but managed to out of sheer determination and effort. Though fortunately none of these more adventurous delves into Hogwarts had resulted in anything dangerous or harmful only storage closets and the occasional empty classroom. Despite the rather mundane contents of these rooms she still felt a small burst of excitement getting into them. Perhaps it was just the idea of being somewhere that she shouldn't be. Or perhaps it was her curiosity urging her to discover things that would otherwise remain unknown if she hadn't had the drive to take a look.

Even now she found herself wandering after classes had ended for the day. The grounds of Hogwarts were vast and she felt like it would honestly take days for her to see everything that they had to offer. Today her travels had brought her to the shores of the Great Lake the same body of water she'd crossed not even a few days ago. The place where she'd first seen Hogwarts castle in all of its majestic splendor. When she'd first crossed in that small boat she could have sworn she'd seen something just beneath the inky black water's surface during one of the few times she'd looked over the side of the boat. Curiosity got the better of her, Yes she was here to take a closer look at the lake but moreso she wanted to see if you could capture even the tiniest glimpse of what she'd seen that night.

She knew that the lake was home to many creatures she'd heard as much from her parents and siblings but hearing about them and seeing them were two different things entirely. As she walked across the grass of the grounds towards the lake she saw very few students out an about. More than likely dissuaded from venturing beyond the castle walls in the summer heat. Aoife couldn't find it within herself to blame them really she'd removed her robes a while ago finding the heavy article of clothing far too stuffy for this weather. And since it was after class hours she figured it wouldn't be such a travesty to remove it. But even in her pants and t-shirt, she could feel the uncomfortable heat bearing down on her head. As she drew closer to the water's edge she could feel a somewhat cool breeze on the wind and knowing where it had come from tempted her to throw herself face-first into the lake's cool waters.

Though she managed to restrain herself considering she wasn't entirely sure if school rules allowed for students to swim in the lake. She looked around as she reached the very edge of the shore where she could see the waves of the lake wash lazily over the stones. Leaning down to undo the laces of her trainers she grinned as she pulled off her shoes and socks and rolled up the legs of her pants. She couldn't swim in the lake as far as she knew but surely a little dip inside wouldn't kill anyone. Just a few minutes and she'd be out with no one else being the wiser. She took her first steps into the water and shivered the water was icy cold but after a few moments she got used to the temperature and even grew to enjoy it when compared to the heat.

The cool wash of the water against her legs was like a siren tempting her to submerge herself completely in the lake's waters. But just as she began to give thought to the idea saw something shift in the waters around her feet. The move was subtle and quick and it wasn't long until she spotted a single tentacle the appendage was grey with black spots and seemed to recoil away into the darkness of the lake in response to Aoife's alarm. Aoife looked around the waters trying to spy the creature that the appendage might belong to. And she wouldn't have to wait too long as moments later she saw a shape rise to the surface not far off from the shore. At first it looked like a small island although it was somewhat shiny and was colored the same as the tentacle that had swept across her ankle. She narrowed her eyes for a moment trying to get a better view only to gasp in surprise as she saw a single eye larger than her head open upon the figure.

She was silent for a moment as she stared back at the eye for just a moment before the mass sunk back down beneath the lake's inky black surface into it's depths once more leaving her standing alone at the shore. Somewhat shocked by her brief encounter with the Giant Squid of the Great Lake.

Henry was walking along the great lake because he was trying to be alone, he had a lot on in his mind and would prefer to be left with his thoughts even though he should really talk to someone as he made his way down the ground and to the great lake. Where there was a good amount of people out, Henry kept his head down as he started to walked along the great lake because he wouldn't likes someone to just come up and start talking to him as his hair fell over his eyes which made it a bit harder for him to see where exactly he was headed.

From a distance you won't be able to tell what house Henry was in as he wore muggle style clothing; a pair of old jeans, a long sleeve grey shirt, and a faded along with a bit baggy greenish jacket. Henry also had his messager type bag on his shoulder that also held no hint of what house he was in which was a good thing according to Henry since many still had prejudiced against Slytherin's. As Henry continued to walked he sort of bumped into someone, Henry came to a quick halt and brushed his hair out of his eyes to see he bumped into a smaller girl who seemed to be a first year, Henry smiled at her as he replied " sorry about that, I wasn't paying attention. Are you alright there, mate?"

As Aoife stood there in the shallows still trying to catch a glimpse of the creature that had been there only moments ago. Her search was cut short however as she felt someone bump into her from the side. Her response was rather spastic as she yelped her arms flailing out to the side as she quickly turned on her heel to face whoever had collided with her. Although it turned out that turning to face someone whilst barefoot on slippery stones was a bad idea as she felt her balance shift drastically. "Who'za' WOAH!!!" her arms flapped in a futile attempt to keep herself upright for a few moments before she found herself falling back into the cool water of the lake.

"Bleedin' 'ells!!!" She cried out as the sudden jolt of cold water had her quickly scrambling up to her feet and out of the water. She took a few moments to gather herself once more her clothes were for the most part soaked through but on the bright side, she no longer felt all that hot anymore under the sun. She supposed there was a silver lining to everything if you looked hard enough. Shivering a bit as she felt a cool breeze wash over the lake and over her she turned to look over at whoever or whatever had bumped into her whilst she stood in the shallows only to find a boy with brown hair and light blue eyes looking at her asking if she was alright.

If she had been her sister more than likely Aoife would have gotten upset at the boy for contributing to her brief dive into the lake. But luckily she wasn't if anything she was more like her brother Liam able to see on the brighter side of things. She brushed a few wet strands of hair from her face and smiled "No worries 'a all tae be fair a' was miles away." She said. As the boy inquired further asking if she was alright after her little spill in the lake she nodded. "M'fine! Nevah been be'er!" She said with a grin. "A little dip in tha' lake is jus' wha' a' needed tae fight this heat." She said.

Jess leaned back against the tree, telling the part of herself worried about the bugs the tree might be a home to to shut up. The tree was large and provided tons of shade, which was perfect for at least somewhat relieving the day's heat. Jess opened her eyes lazily, looking around at the grounds laid out in front of her and the people milling about under the shine of the sun. One person in particular caught her eye, a small girl with fiery red hair who appeared to be wading into the Great Lake... were they allowed to do that? If they were, Jess intended to go take a swim by herself later, as she missed the feel of the water all around her and figured that it would do a better job of lessening the heat pressing down on her body than the shade she was currently in was.

Jess continued watching the girl as she stepped around in the lake, wondering to herself if it was weird to be doing so. It wasn't really stalking if she didn't come to the lake with the intention of watching the girl, right? Plus, it was just the same thing as looking around at the people seated next to her on the bus... nothing strange about that. Something large and gray moved in the water next to the girl, and Jess sat up straight as she realized what it was. The Giant Squid! She hadn't grown up hearing stories or anything about it, of course, as she was Muggle-born, but she had heard mentions of it from the kids in summer camp and during her brief time at the actual castle. She held her breath, scared for the girl, then let it out in a relieved woosh as the squid sank back down beneath the surface of the lake and left the girl alone again.

Just then, she spotted Henry, who she had met on the Hogwarts Express, walking briskly toward the lake and, forcing a small laugh out of Jess, stumbling into the girl she had been watching before. The girl turned wildly and flailed her arms before falling, rather spectacularly, into the dark water surrounding her. "Oh!" Jess couldn't hep but exclaim as the girl scrambled out of the water and popped back up, looking surprisingly kindly at Henry.

Looking down at the towel she was sitting on, Jess clutched it in her hand as she considered. She had brought the towel as a way to avoid sitting straight on the grass and getting her shorts, which she had changed into after classes, dirty, but it now seemed as if there was someone in the area that the towel would better serve. It wasn't like most people sat on towels, anyways, but Jess hadn't exactly packed a picnic blanket with her when she came to Hogwarts. Now- should she sit here and continue enjoying the show- the girl and Henry, that is- or should she get up and offer the girl the towel? On one hand, giving the girl a way to dry herself would make Jess feel good about herself and would probably also win her a new friend. On the other hand, however, bringing the towel to the girl would involve talking to someone new... which Jess wasn't exactly all too keen to do. So... new friend, new people. New friend, new people. New friend... over new people. Fine. Jess would bring the girl the towel.

Standing up from her seat and brushing nonexistent dirt off her pants, Jess picked up the towel and shook it fiercely to get rid of any loose blades of grass that had gotten stuck on it. Rolling it up, she walked over to the lake and approached the girl, waving slightly and smiling at Henry along the way. "Hey," she said as she neared the girl. "You look a bit wet... want a towel?" she asked, extending her arm out and offering said towel. "Oh, and hi, Henry."

The school year may have still been in it's infancy but that hadn't stopped Callie from throwing herself head first into work. She may have been in her second year of life at Hogwarts but Callie still felt as though she had a lifetime worth of catching up to do when she compared herself to the other students. It wasn't that she resented her muggle upbringing but rather that she felt behind in her general knowledge of the world. After all it had only really been a single year since she had found out about the wizarding world in the first place and she'd barely managed to scratch the surface! It was Callie's insistence of burying herself under a mound of work that had brought her out to the Great Lake as there was only so many hours someone could look at the library walls without getting a bit of cabin fever.

For once Callie had left the books behind on her foray out into the grounds and had decided to enjoy the sunshine while it lasted instead. After all good weather was a rarity in this neck of the woods and Callie knew she had to enjoy it before the autumn fully settled in and brought with it chilly winds. The sleeves of her robe were rolled up to her elbows as she wandered towards the lake and her hair tied back into a ponytail to prevent her hair from irritating her too much. Callie adjusted her glasses as she grew closer to the lakeside, which were in a considerably better state in comparison to her first year. Learning the eyeglasses repair charm had certainly changed Callie's life for the better, especially if you considered the frequency with which she managed to break them. When she eventually arrived at the lake side Callie kicked off her shoes onto the ground and immediately stepped into the shallows, letting out a large sigh of relief when the cool waters touched her skin.

While Callie had fully intended to enjoy some quiet alone time the noises of some kind of commotion nearby quickly grabbed her attention. The first thing to catch Callie's eye was the distorted mass shifting beneath the inky black surface of the lake. Instead of making a move to join the girl it seemed to be greeting Callie found herself stunned into silence as in truth she'd entirely forgotten about the creature. It wasn't until a boy who didn't seem to at all be paying attention collided into the unfamiliar red head that Callie was pulled from her stupor. "Ah-" Callie spurred into action when she saw the girl tumble into the cool waters of the lake, doing her best to suppress a laugh as she headed over to the growing group.

Upon seeing that another spectator nearby had the same idea of checking up on the girl Callie's speed faltered briefly. Should she bother them? Was it a good idea? Doubt circled Callie's mind for a few moments before she eventually regained her usual confidence. "I completely forgot about the thing in the lake! How cool is that?" She exclaimed as she looked back out to the lakes surface, trying to pinpoint where the creature headed off to only to come up fruitless."Ah, where's my manners...did ya' enjoy your trip? Are you alright? At least it's not cold out, you'll dry up in no time!" Callie greeted with a pleasant smile, rocking back and forth on the balls of her feet in the shallows of the lake."I'm Callie by the way, nice to meet ya'!"

Henry watched as girl fell it into the lake, and quickly bended down to help her as he spoke "here let me-" before he could finished how ever she seemed to crawl.back out herself and say that she was alright, while also saying that the a dip in the great lake was a good thing, he noticed that she has a Scottish accent not that Henry picked it up since he was use to hearing Scottish accents sort of like the same way Henry doesn't hear his own string British accent. Henry smiled as he look at the girl and replied to her " that's good, are you should your alright through? Here let me help with the water," Henry quickly looked around for a towel before seeing that another girl already brought one for her " Nervmind," Henry watched her dry off with the towel before speaking again "all dry now, mate?" Before she could answer another join them, who turns out to be Jess, a first year from the Hogwarts and Express and Henry returned her greeting " Hey Jess, it's nice to see you again," which was all he could say again as another girl join them and seem to be asking if the girl was alright and she wasn't still soaking wet anymore, thanks to Henry, as the girl who just came said her name was Callie which made Henry say "I'm Henry, by the way."

New Friends!!
Aoife was definitely caught off guard as the number of people around her seemed to multiply exponentially. This wasn't an unwelcome change to her not by any means. When she'd first arrived to the famed school of Witchcraft and Wizardry she had her doubts about her ability to make friends. But considering the number of people she'd been meeting as of late it seemed that her previous concerns were unfounded. As she conversed with the boy who'd had a bit of a hand in her brief dip in the lake another girl approached offering a simple greeting as well as a towel. Aoife gratefully accepted the towel with a small smile and a nod of thanks. "Much appreciated." She said as she began to towel off her hair. She could deal with wet clothing but if there was one thing that she often couldn't stand was getting leaving her hair wet. She despised the way it lay flat to her head when wet and by the time she'd finished drying it already those around could see the curls reforming.

As she lowered the towel she blinked as she heard a third voice join into the mix of conversation going on around her. She looked over to find another girl who seemed to have had an idea similar to her own considering she too was standing ankle deep in the shallows of the lake. Although by the looks of things her attempt at it was a bit less waterlogged than her own. As the girl spoke energetically it took her a moment for her mind to catch up with what was said. When she realized that the girl was referring to the creature that she'd seen earlier she smiled. She couldn't deny that the brief encounter was a rather spectacular and exciting twist to her day. "It was absolutely wicked!" She said with a grin that spread from ear to ear. As she'd come to learn to quickly upon her arrival to Hogwarts hearing about these things from her parents and siblings was one thing, But to be able to witness and see them with her own eyes was something else entirely. "Ah never realized tha' the thing was so bleedin' huge!" She said throwing her arms out to the sides to pantomime the size of the creature.

As she finished saying this the boy who she'd met earlier spoke up again asking her if she was sure that she was alright. Aoife nodded "Ah's fine a li'l water never killed no one. Well...Cept fer those who drown o'course..." She said. Though the boy still seemed rather intent on making up for his hand in her dive as he searched around for a towel. She couldn't help but wonder where he hoped to find one this far away from the castle but she appreciated the effort either way. "Dry enough. Ye dinnae 'ave tae do tha' but I appreciate it anyway." She said with a smile as it seemed the time for introductions had arrived. By now Aoife was getting more and more used to it. Most of her days so far had been packed with meeting new people, Housemates, Classmates, Professors, Ghosts. She'd met so many different characters in such a short span of time.

As the girl who'd arrived last spoke up introducing herself as Callie she made sure to devote that name to memory. She didn't want to deal with the embarrassment of struggling to remember it later that and forgetting someone's name wasn't often the basis of a strong friendship. "Nice tae meetcha Callie." She said turning to the Ravenclaw girl and offering a warm smile "Aoife, Aoife Lovett a pleasure." She said with a nod. Next came to the boy who had bumped into her as he introduced himself as Henry "An' Henry nice tae meet ya as well mate." She said offering out another smile to him as well. Finally only one person remained unnamed from their little group now. She turned to the girl who'd arrived earlier she recalled having heard Henry say the girl's name earlier before he'd dried her off with his wand. But for some reason the name still escaped her. "Ack' I know I 'eard yer name earlier luv but ye mind refreshin' mah memory?" She said giving Jess an apologetic smile as she offered the girl back her towel.

Some part of her felt a bit even more embarrassed at her little spill into the lake but there wasn't really much she could do about it at this point. May as well make the best out of a relatively unexpected situation. She'd been given the chance to meet up with three new interesting people who was she to squander such a golden opportunity?

As Jess approached the soaking wet girl, she overheard Henry offer to help her dry off and then turn to Jess and return her greeting. "It's nice to run into you too, Henry," Jess said offhandedly as she handed the towel to the girl with a smile. This was good, she thought, everyone was being nice and diplomatic, so maybe they could actually become friends.

Just then, another girl waded up to the trio through the water, chattering excitedly about the brief sighting of the Giant Squid the lot of them had just had. As she started asking the red-headed girl questions, Jess took a step back from the group and stuck her hands in her pockets, rocking back on her heels. There sure are a lot of people here just for one girl... she reflected. Maybe I can try falling in the lake at some point and see if that brings me any new friends?

Jess couldn't help but smile slightly as the redhead responded to the girl, her grin so wide it seemed to split her face in two. Her excitement was infectious, and Jess could feel her mood lighten as she listened to the girl speak. Not to mention, her accent was insane. Jess was fully aware that she, herself, probably sounded incredibly strange to most of the people she met, since she had been born and raised in New York so she didn't exactly sound British. But this- Jess honestly had to concentrate to properly hear and understand what the girl was saying, which she figured could be a plus later in the possible friendship as it meant that she would both never get bored of hearing the girl speak and also not be able to zone off and miss what she was saying.

As everyone introduced themselves, Jess looked around at the now rather large group of kids huddled by the lake's side. They made for an odd quartet, Jess figured. A redhead, a blonde, a brunette, and a dark-haired boy. The sound of a question coming her way snapped Jess out of her observations, and she looked up to hear Aoife say, "Ack' I know I 'eard yer name earlier luv but ye mind refreshin' mah memory?"

Grinning at the girl's accent again, Jess smiled at her and the rest of the kids beside her. "I'm Jess. It's nice to meet you all."

Ashwaria finally came out of the castle just to take some fresh air and just sit and look up in the sky, Her hair was down and wore a NASA related outfit as usual and sat near the lake she initially wanted to sit alone but felt like she wanted company. She laid down and just stared at the sky which resembled just like her many secrets wonderfully mysterious and sometimes dangerous. Her thinking was interrupted when someone said in the distance there sure are a lot of people here just for one girl...Maybe I can try falling in the lake at some point and see if that brings me any new friends? I muttered under my breath "Oh lord don't they know what lurks in those water's?" she saw A girl with red hair A blonde haired girl and a boy with dark brown hair, She wanted to be friends but also felt like to just sit in her spot and just stay there, She pulled out a notebook from her bag and some watercolour started painting a beautiful Saturn

Ashwaria had enough of sitting alone and ran towards them and said with a warm grin "Hey, cool accent, can I join you My name is Ashwaria Nair and you are ?"She then muttered quietly under her breath "There is the normal Ashwaria who wasn't afraid of almost anything.

Henry listened to the red head introduced herself and ask again what Jess name was, when she responded however another join them this one named Ashwaria Nair with sort of a matter if fact speaking and she worse a different type if uniform which confused Henry a bit. Still Henry had a lot on his mind and the last thing he wanted was to get into mire conversation with a lot more people and to think this could have been all avoided if he was just paying attention and didn't bump into the red head or Aoife as she said her name was but also Henry wasn't rude and didn't like to seem like it either so it looks like he was stuck there at least for the moment.

" I'm Henry, uh just Henry," Henry spoke as he again didn't want to be a part of any family or surname or any of that since he was rather mad at his father and his father's family. On the other hand he had no idea who his mum's family was and couldn't care less at the moment as Henry waited for the other girls to speak, uh Henry was the only boy yet again odd isn't or wasn't it. It was almost like Henry only hung around girls and rarely any other boys besides his brother.
