"Thanks," Miranda replied, her eyes glowing at the praise. "That...means a lot." She paused to collect her thoughts, then continued. "And I'd love to learn a bit more in Charms from you, as well as teach about Defense Against The Dark Arts at the same time. I bet we'll both learn plenty, both from teaching and learning alike." She wrinkled her nose distastefully at the strange way she'd worded her sentences, but it was too late to take them back. Besides, they still managed to get the general gist of what she meant across.
Unfortunately, even though her words seemed almost confident, she still felt a bit of uncertainty. It wasn't exactly a secret that she'd never done the best at Charms, but what if Henry's expectations were higher than she thought? She'd never been so self-conscious before in her life, but now, around him...she found herself always worrying about the smallest things, even if they seemed entirely inconsequential around others.
Barely suppressing another sigh, she picked the leaves out of her hair and let them float to the ground below, watching their tumbling progress with unblinking eyes. Then she smiled again, determined to continue looking at the silver lining. Besides, nothing was going wrong at the moment. It was actually quite close to perfect, if you asked her. She could solve any future problems at a later date, and not spoil nice moments with her anxious thoughts.

Henry listened to her answer and smiled at her while still grazing into her crystal clear blue eyes, before turning back to face the sky still with a million thoughts on his mind and his ever looming anxiety over his head as it threatened to rain down from above. Henry liked the idea of studying with her and taking his mind off of everything but he couldn't stop himself from thinking about that summer and his life that he's hiding away from everyone, as he stared at the sky where only a few occasional owls flew past. Henry bit his lip as he wanted to tell her but knew he shouldn't, he didn't know how their relationship will be affected if he did so he decided not to tell her and keep it in his mind, isolated to himself which would end up being a bad idea.
Henry took a deep breath as he tried to looked past his thought and ever looming anxiety as he stared up at the sky to watch a dew dragonflies playing in the breeze before he spoke " sounds like a plan then," Henry looked at Miranda real quick before turning back to face the sky as he continued " isn't funny how a million things could be going on, but up here with you it feels like time as stopped and everything is at peace for once."

"That's true." Miranda reached out with her hand and pushed a dragonfly that had landed on her shoulder away. She may like true dragons, but their insect counterparts kind of gave her the creeps with their bulbous eyes and tons of legs. "All of the movement and anxiety and stress of the world below is blown away by the wind, temporarily lost in the sky above." She lifted her gaze to the great blue expanse overhead, watching the dragonfly she'd sent off meet up with his fellows and perform a tumbling acrobatic regime in the wind.
You may be more free when flying, she mused. But not entirely. There's always something making you go places, in this case it's the wind. Only the biggest creatures can fight it, like dragons. Otherwise you're subject to its wims like everyone else.
Tired of the philosophical thoughts, Miranda turned her gaze to the courtyard below them. While the sky was nice to look at, it was also interesting to turn one's gaze to the world below. There was always someone or something to watch, since many students passed through the large area on their way to classes, or simply to relax in the sunlight. Today, most of the people below seemed to be relaxing. That made sense, seeing as there were no classes at the moment to attend.

Hearing Miranda speak, made Henry ease up and remember the day that the two first met, Henry was upon the tree and reading, like usual and Miranda just approached him and started to talk to him. It was odd to Henry since no one, have ever just came up to him and especially never talk to him but she did and after they actually started to chat and joke around a bit. Henry looked toward the sky as he remembered that it started to rain and they both ran back to the hall where they became friends before going their separate ways, Henry smiled at the thought before others started to fill his mind again.
Henry felt panic and his anxiety fill his mind as all his worries and fears filled his head and he couldn't see pass them, he started to think maybe he should tell her about his summer holiday and his hidden life, but something stopped him. A feeling and a voice that told him not to, that told him only the cons of telling her would be so instead he continued to look upon the sky. After a few minutes however Henry spoke "If you had a secret, uh a personal and deep secret then would you tell your closest friends or would you keep it to yourself?"

Miranda considered the question Henry had asked for a long moment. She'd never really had a true secret before, other than all of the times she'd snuck out of the Ravenclaw tower at night. And besides, she was sure there were other students who knew she did that. Some of them had even accompanied her, for goodness' sake. But a secret no one knew...well, she had no idea what she'd do with such a thing. In all her life, Miranda had never really kept anything hidden from anyone before, at least not permanently. The fact that she had to rely on a hypothetical instance made the decision quite a bit more difficult.
Before she could stop herself, Miranda found herself wondering whether Henry had a secret, and that was why he was asking. Luckily, she managed to shut down that train of thoughts before she could begin thinking up possible things he could be keeping hidden. Friends shouldn't do that.
"I - I don't really know..." she began hesitantly. "I've never really had to think about that before." Miranda paused again, her brow furrowing slightly as she thought. "I think...I think I'd tell someone, but it really depends on what the secret would be. And it's not like I've had much experience with hiding things before. I prefer to just get all of that out and deal with the consequences later. But that's just me."

As Henry listened to Miranda, he continued to look at the clear blue sky which after a while sort of reminded Henry of her blue eyes. When Henry heard Miranda finish speaking, Henry thought over what she said and once he came to a decision that took some time and was extremely difficult to make, he turn on the branch to face Miranda and graze in her crystal clear blue eyes as he spoke " we met on this same tree, last year,
do you remember? It's funny how life works out for better.... or for worse," Henry paused as he took a breath before placing his hand near hers so his fingers would brush against hers, slightly as he spoke again " after that day when I confessed my feelings to you and you to me, I was more than happy and I was even more bloody happy when you agreed to go on a date with me," Henry paused as he grab onto Miranda's hand and held it, a bit tight in his own as he spoke again " I trust you more than anyone Miranda, your an amazing person and I'm more than thankful that I have your friend."
Henry didn't think the word friend would describe them anymore so he spoke again " after you learned that I fancy you, that I had a crush on you. I was so embarrassed and awkward but when you admitted that you felt the same way then agreed to go on a date with me, I saw something else, I felt something else," Henry took a breath before speaking again " I saw that you are more than my friend, that I fancy you and want our relationship to grow, to evolve-" Henry felt the back of his neck start to sweat as his anxiety started to grow as he worried about saying something wrong before speaking again " that's why I'm going to tell you something, something that I haven't told anyone. Something that I kept that have isolated me from others during our second year so far, something that my supposedly best friend," He thought of Cricket then spoke again " doesn't even know, well not everything. So I need you to promise to keep it to yourself. To not see me anything differently and for our relationship to not change for the worse. Can I trust you Miranda?"

@Henry KnightWhen Henry started speaking again, Miranda turned to look at him, her eyes studying his face. His words made a small smile appear on her face as she thought of the times he spoke of. Yes, she remembered. She remembered very well, in fact. Her normally faulty memory seemed crystal-clear in those moments...and most likely would for quite a long while.
She stiffened in surprise when he grabbed her hand, but relaxed quickly. Even if she wasn't used to people touching her, for some reason it still felt nice. That thought made Miranda's face burn.
"You can trust me," she replied when he was finished, her smile gone, replaced by a serious expression that was quite rare on her face. Even though she felt ecstatic, she did a pretty good job of hiding it, though anyone who looked closely enough could see the hidden happiness she fought to contain, at least for the moment. The serious atmosphere felt strange to her, since most of her time was either spent joking around, exploring, or learning.
"I wouldn't betray your trust - not if you didn't want me to." Not when you mean so much to me, Miranda wanted to add, but didn't dare, not yet.

As he listened to Miranda, Henry took a breath while continuing to hold tightly onto her hand. He was still uncertain about if he should tell her or not but he did know one thing that he had feelings for her and truly had a crush on her, that their date set during the Christmas holidays was something that Henry couldn't wait for because he really did care and love her even through the 12 year old didn't know how to say it or feel it.
Henry looked at Miranda and in the end decide to tell her as he spoke quietly to her so that no one else can hear " just promise me, your feelings won't change about me," Henry then took another breath and leaned in closer to Miranda as he continued to speak softly " during the camp I received a letter from my brother saying my father's family, uh the Alluring's wanted to meet us and that father already set a date aside during the summer to meet them," Henry took a breath before continuing" the odd thing is that my father was disowned from his family when he was 15, so why would they welcome him back? Well after the camp, I went to their house with my siblings and father to meet them and-" Henry paused again before continuing more quietly and a bit shaky and found out their true motivates for welcoming him back. They didn't care about my father, they only care about continuing their bloody pureblood bloodline."
Henry could feel himself getting angry but took a breath before continuing to talk quietly to Miranda " so they arranged marriages for Arthur and myself to ensure the bloodline stays pure or whatever. When Arthur found that out, he said a few things then stormed out closely followed by me and Annabeth," Henry took another breath before continuing in a whisper " our father soon followed us but he said that his family does whatever it takes to get their way," Henry took another breath before continuing " we try to ignore them and go about our life that they don't exist like before but I can't stop myself from thinking something bad will happen, like this is only the beginning."
Henry felt like a fool, what if Miranda leaves him? What if she no longer cares for him or wants to be his friend? This was a mistake telling someone instead if keeping his life hidden from anyone, Henry threw his messager type bag over his shoulder and climb down a bit before jumping the rest of the way back to the ground as he spoke " this is wrong, I shouldn't have told you. I shouldn't have told anyone!" Henry started to walk quite fast back up the grounds as he said again "I'm such a bloody idiot, why would I say anything."

@Henry Knight"I promise," Miranda said with the utmost certainty, ignoring any feelings of doubt that tried to creep through. What exactly was he going to tell her?
As he spoke, she found herself stilling, listening intently. By the time Henry had finished, several thoughts and feelings were flashing through her mind. The first was shock, both by the abruptness of the revelation and the idea that people had done this without asking the involved parties -such as Henry - their opinions first. This was followed by a small moment of relief for the fact that Miranda's parents, though descended from a long pureblood line, didn't care about such things. But those emotions were quickly replaced by a smoldering anger. Not at Henry - this wasn't his fault, so she thought no less of him for it - but at his father and the rest of the Allurings.
To have one's choices kept from them, and to force them onto a path they did not want? That was unthinkable, especially to Miranda, who valued her freedom over many other things. Hopefully, the whole thing had been called off, but somehow, she doubted it. From what Henry said, his father's side didn't seem like one to give up so easily, which was problematic.
Miranda was so wrapped up in her thoughts that when he spoke again, she only barely caught his words. By the time she'd worked out what he'd said, Henry had already jumped down from the tree and taken off across the courtyard.
"Wait!" Miranda exclaimed, scrambling down after him, her fingers scrabbling across the rough bark in her hurry. "Henry! Come back!" She knew there was a good chance other students were watching her, but she ignored them. There had to be a way to fix this, but first she had to catch up to Henry.

Henry heard the sound of Miranda calling him and somehow he stopped to approach her. As he looked into her eyes, he felt something, something that he didn't suspected to feel. That feeling made him relax and calm down enough not to run from her or yell, he really did love her and wanted to be with her so instead he spoke " listen I'm sorry I told you and I didn't mean to bring you into all of this," Henry paused and he looked around the courtyard at the others students unsure if they were watching or listening to them so he gently garb Miranda's arm and pulled her to the side as he continued in a low whisper " I still care about you and love you Miranda but after hearing that I'll understand if you no longer share my feelings nor want to hang out with me."
That felt odd to Henry as he spoke those words to a person he thought of as his friend, as someone who he loved even and would trust with his life but he knew what had to be done and he wasn't afraid of doing it since he isolated himself from everyone else already. Henry smiled at her as he spoke " your a amazing person Miranda while I'm not, you should have better friends than me." Henry couldn't believe he just said that and smiled at her as he got ready to leave but instead just stood there for a bit longer.
