From Silence to Sound
-------☆-------@Mars T’ienClaudia stood awkwardly in front of the them, not sure of what to say. They released her hand, scratching the back of their neck instead. “Well, it’s nice to meet you. I’m glad you came, it would have been awkward if no one had spoken up,” Mars’ said with a smile that showed no teeth. Claudia’s gaze was adverted as the new band set up on the stage and suddenly she felt even more awkward by just standing there. There they were, talking, while someone was about to play. She felt bad for the new band as some of the crowd had left and she could tell that more were getting bored of the music.
Mars slung the strap of their guitar over their shoulder and gestured to the door, “Are you going?” Claudia looked back to them as they unconsciously tapped the side of their guitar. Was Mars... nervous? She didn’t know if it was just a habit or if he was trying to keep his mind off the conversation and the strain of trying to talk.
“Um...” she said, thinking for a bit. “Uh, yeah. Probably. I only came in here to, er, listen to some... well... s-some peaceful music. No offense meant to them but...” she trailed off, not quite wanting to finish the sentence in fear that she would tragically mess it up and offend someone. Mars would understand. She hoped he would.
Claudia stood there for a minute not sure if she should leave, stay, or take Mars with her. “Er, uh. Y-you want to come... with?” Her words were forced out and quiet, hard for her to say. Claudia never had practice asking friends - or anyone, really - to hangout or anything. Her face slowly turned red as she tried to look anywhere but Mars’ eyes. She suddenly felt younger than her age, as if she was asking for something impossible.
And maybe she was.
Maybe Claudia never would have friends - ever. If she didn’t necessarily want them, why would she deserve them? But maybe Hogwarts could change that - change her - change the fact that she was a ball of black, heartless matter. Change... everything.-------☆-------
ReducioIt’s fine! I totally forgot that I hadn’t replied yet so sorry for my later than usual reply!

Mars smiled. Somehow, they could see a little bit of themselves in Claudia's eyes. They recognized maybe that touch of loneliness in her eyes. They weren't—shy, not in the common sense at least, but they didn't take well to others, didn't find safety in the concept of friends very often.
Still, there was something wonderful about being able to spend time with someone else.
"Sure, definitely," they responded. Mars gave Claudia a once over, eyes lingering on the black fabric of her eyepatch for maybe a moment too long, "But only if you tell me what happened to your eye. I thought magic could heal anything."
Maybe it was a rude thing to ask. Who knew, Claudia might be sensitive about the subject and not want to talk to them ever again. But it had been the question itching at Mars' side all this time, the item that had drawn their gaze in the first place.
And they couldn't help but want to get to know the witch as well. In that regard, they felt an affinity with their house; Mars loved puzzles, and at the end of the day, there was nothing more puzzling than another person. They enjoyed the challenge of unraveling someone else's story. It was like music in its own way, listening to the melody of someone's voice speak of the world from their point of view.
Friends came few for Mars. Being friendly was second nature.
They smiled again, hoisting their guitar up and letting their feet guide them to the door, hoping the witch would follow. Calling to her again, they asked, "So, where do you want to go?" They pivoted midstep, flashing her a grin, "And for that matter, is there anything else you want to hear?"
Mars has Left the Thread (Hopefully with Claudia)
───── ⋆★⋆ ─────ReducioWould you like to continue this in a different forum? If not, I'm fine with that as well, I'll just assume they went somewhere, talked for a while, and then went their separate ways.
[ Home, they said. I should like to go home. ]
