A Friendly End Of Year Party

"A farm sounds fun! I've never been to one before. I've seen them in passing along my travels with animals out in the pasture and all that jazz, but I've never actually seen any sort of farm animal up close before." The village of Surrey where she lived was all upperclass houses. Estates with gardens, no farms. "We even have a stable...but we've never had a horse or anything like that." It had been built before they moved in. "I think I'd love to do that! Are you staying for the Summer Camp program? Father wants us home for the Summer, Bella and I, so we aren't attending."
If Alexa wasn't either, perhaps they could plan out their slumber parties earlier. She had where she was going to go for a week to Rye along the coast and spend with Clifton and then he was going to join her for a week at Updown Court, but other than that her schedule was wide open and she would love nothing more than to fill it with friends. She just hoped that her friends wouldn't be too bored when they came to her home, but luckily they had the gardens and woodland to help occupy their time. Plus the swimming pools.

I am so terribly sorry for the delay! Life has been a little crazy here, but I will do better in the future!
Alexa was still astonished that Alina had invited her over during the summer. Delightfully astonished. After she returned the gesture, Alina told how she had never actually been up close to a farm animal, or even on the farm, a foreign idea to Alexa. Where she had grown up, almost everyone she knew lived on the farm, except for a few acquaintances in Inverness.
When the other girl said that she thought she’d love to visit, Alexa glowed and smiled brightly. “No, I’m not staying for the Summer Camp program; better for my parents that I come home.” Her smile faded slightly as she thought about her parents. They had started writing separate letters to her about halfway through the year. She knew they weren’t doing well, and she was the glue that kept them together. But now she was away for so long…
Shaking it off, she said, “Bella is your twin sister, right?”
She had a sudden thought. She so loved exploring with Alina and Clifton that it seemed natural to ask if he could come as well, but she wanted to leave that up to Alina. “Hey, maybe after you and I spent some time together at your place, when you come up to mine, what would you think about Kristin coming also? It’s so fun exploring with you both, it would be great to have both my good friends there!” She smiled brightly, hoping she had made it clear that Clifton was indeed just a friend.

She did catch that...how Alexa said it would be nice for her good friends to come visit. She smiled, feeling rather silly if she thought there was anything else. Then again, with the way her father passed around women it wasn't unusual for her to feel insecure even without reason. It's what she saw.
"That would be fun! I'm sure we could find some trouble to get into," she laughed, thinking of their adventure in the secret passage. "And we could help with the farm stuff, I'm sure. I don't know all that it entails but I'm not afraid to get dirty!"
She hoped her father would agree to her visiting so many friends. Honestly, she figured he wouldn't be home and she really wouldn't even need to ask. The only person that might miss her presence that she had to tell would be Bella.
"Clive!" she called him over. "Yo! Troublefield! Get over here!" When he looked her way she motioned for him to come over and join the two of them.
"So you know how we've been trying to get our parents to agree to spend some time at each other's house over the Summer? Think they'll keep being so accepting and maybe let you visit Alexa's place with me? We could dress you up all country-like...a little bit of flannel and some nice fitting blue jeans. What do you think?"

Clifton laughed and turned. "What?"
"Get over here!" Alina motioned for him to come over to where her and Alexa were standing. Clifton briefly turned back to the others.
"Be back. But you guys should definitely play some music."
He left the table and hurried over to the two girls. "What's up?"
"So you know how we've been trying to get our parents to agree to spend some time at each other's house over the Summer? Think they'll keep being so accepting and maybe let you visit Alexa's place with me?"
Clifton shrugged. "I don't see why not, as long as its after football camp. We're not doing any big vacations this year or anything." Clifton had never been to an actual farm before and the curious explorer in him wondered what it was like. And what Alexa's family was like. He figured they'd have to be pretty amazing to raise such a kindhearted girl.
"We could dress you up all country-like...a little bit of flannel and some nice fitting blue jeans. What do you think?"
Clifton looked down at his current outfit then back up at Alina with a teasing smile. "You're as bad as my mom, you know that?" His mom was a fashion-designer, which meant when it the wardrobe was always first priority when came to a planned trip. Or anything, for that matter.
He looked at Alexa. "You live up in the mountains, right? What's the best way to get to your house? Is there a train station nearby? If my parents aren't too busy, they might be able to drive us."
I do all my own stunts, but never intentionally.

Guys, I am so sorry for the delay :-( real-life problems over here, but it should be better now. I'm truly sorry!
Alexa was beyond pleased that it looked like her two friends might be able to visit her during the summer.
She watched Clifton and Alina speak for a moment, I think Clifton mentioned that so long as it didn’t interfere with football camp, that should be fine.
“When is football camp? I’m sure we can work around it; we don’t have much going on this summer. Speaking of, Alina, I could probably come to your house whenever you wanted me to! Open schedule and all that,” she said, smiling.
Then Alina started talking about what they might wear to the farm, mentioning flannels and fitted jeans. Alexa couldn’t help but laugh out loud. “Yeah, jeans would probably be best when tramping through the heather in the Highlands. But they don’t have to be fitted if you don’t want to.” She smiled again. “I just usually wear a T-shirt, or long sleeve shirt if it’s cool,” she added. Sure, there was definitely flannel material in her house, but it was a necessity. She giggled again.
In answering Clifton’s question, Alexa nodded first then said, “The nearest city is Inverness, and it has a train station. We could totally pick you guys up at the station. It’s about an hour's drive to our farm. Is that okay?” She was slightly nervous again. What if they decided they didn’t want to come, after all?

It suddenly occurred to him that, other than a dog he once owned, Clifton had never really been around too many animals. At least, not the kind that weren't in a zoo or an aquarium. He was probably signing himself up to get bucked off a horse or attacked by chickens, knowing his luck. But he was excited all the same. Especially the "tramping through the heather in the Highlands" part. It sounded so different than the beach town where he came from. Like the kind of place he could tramp around all day, just exploring.
But then, from previous conversations with Alexa he wasn't sure how much time there would be for that. He doubted that farm chores suddenly stopped just because friends were over. The thought only made him more curious. What was day-to-day life like for Alexa and her family?
As for the flannel and fitted jeans, Clifton may have laughed along with Alexa but he knew his fate was as good as sealed. His mom would have the exact same idea and start summoning her myraid of shopping discount cards to make it a reality. Not that Clifton minded too much, because if Alina liked it...
"Iverness works," he smiled. It would be a full day of traveling, but he was certain it would be worth it. "Alina and I could meet up along the way and then get off at Iverness. Sounds like you guys really live away from it all. I bet that's nice sometimes."

darksideAlexa, Alina, and Clifton went to talk about... something, and Lucia decided she might as well take advantage of their distraction to go sing something.
Aaahhh, what though? There were so many different choices!
She needed something that wouldn't sound wierd without accompaniment (unless, of course, Cash knew the song and was up to it) but also had a party kind of feel.
Huh.
After a moment or so of deliberation - during which she completely zoned out of what everyone was saying, if anything at all - Lucia grinned.
"I know!" she exclaimed aloud, forgetting that she probably sounded crazy, seeing as no-one around here was a Legilimens as far as she knew.
She ducked out of the group of first years and made her way towards the music area, casually pulling out her wand as she went.
Upon reaching it, Lucia held her wand under her chin like one of those Muggle - what were they called? Micro-somethings? - and took a deep breath.
Embrase the awkwardness, and try not to embarrass yourself too much.
"Right."
Giving a nervous cough, she announced awkwardly, "This is Darkside, by... some Muggle guy whose name I can't remember."
The Hufflepuff said this last part half-jokingly - it was the truth, she had no idea what his name was. Ah well.
"If anyone knows it-" Lucia crossed her fingers out of sight "-please do join in."
She hoped someone would - it would be far better than singing on her own. Maybe Alexa would know it?
Then, wasting no more time, she began, swaying slightly to the first verse. Seeing as she had no accompaniment (unless Cash began to play along, of course), she also tried to sing a bit of that to 'oh's. Annoyingly, the singer of the original was a soprano, and Lucia an alto, so she lowered it by several keys. She also hadn't heard the song in a while, so she got a few lyrics wrong - but hey, who cared? It's not like there were any talent scouts in the audience or something."We're not in love.

During the chorus, Lucia started clapping a beat and snapping her left fingers for the third - one, one two. Clap, clap, snap.

From where they seated, they can see that Alina, Alexa, Clifton, Lindsey and Lucia converse among themselves. Cash feel a bit down after the howler that their mom had sent and thus opted to eat over Music and Dancing table. They eat their meal in peace then they shifted their eyes to where Alexa, Alina and Clifton stand.
The badgers trio now stood in front of the Wishing and Achievements Wall. Cash make a mental note before the party ended, they need to write down on the wall. Cash had just finished their meal and plucking their guitar strings softly. Putting their cheek on the upper wooden body of the guitar that rest against their chest when someone sang.
Cash look up to the sound of someone sing. Cash smile at Lucia. It seems like it was a code or something and so Cash stand up from where they are and walk towards Lucia. When Cash arrived, the first verse and the first chorus that Lucia sang had just ended.
Cash was not a musical prodigy but from their young age, Cash always try play by the ear and Cash think they get the gist of the melody of the song that Lucia sang. And so they strummed their guitar and followed the tune Lucia sang in.
Good thing Cash is mezzo soprano. Cash let Lucia sang the whole second verse by herself then joining plus harmonizing with Lucia when the second chorus rolled in.

At the word of 'young and fearless' Cash smiled.The firsts year indeed still young and fearless. When the song ended, Lucia jokingly took a tiny bow. Cash let out a small chuckle at Lucia antics. Music always be and always will their escape. Cash then grab Lucia wrist and raise it to the air. "Ladies and gentlemen.. this year winner of Hogwarts Idol, Lucia..."Cash trailed off.
"Uhh what is your last name?"Cash inquired the badger and grin goofily at her.

Mentioning @Alina Rosier @Alexa Mackenzie @Clifton TroublefieldIt was such a delight seeing others happy. Lindsey couldn’t help grinning as everyone around — every friend around — seemed gay and merry.
She listened attentively when Lucia sang. Though herself was quite musical, she was always interested in listening others singing, or playing music. This fellow badger’s singing had really amazed her. How beautiful her friend’s voice was! Charming girl, huh? Cash joined in when the second chorus rolled in. It was surprisingly harmonizing — Lindsey didn’t expect such a great “chemical” result, though it was just fantastic. She smirked to other listeners, and the performers — “You guys did a great job!”
“Yes, congrats, Miss Fox!” grinning, she answered. Creative thought, right? Cash was really fun, and she had never doubted that. “We sincerely hope that you could come to our next show as a judge, since you are the winner of this one!” the hostess Springhall announced, grinning, supposing that she was really a hostess. This should be fun! She jumped onto a chair, and cleared her throat.
“Your turn, Scarlett!” merrily she turned to the red headed girl. “You wish a performance? The stage is prepared.” and she nodded to Cash. “Be prepared as well, Cash! We are looking forward to your playing as well. Next performer, if you please?” she jumped down the chair. Lindsey was really interested in Scarlett’s skills — she must be versatile! She wished to know this girl more as the young lion seemed a really great friend to have.
She checked what others were doing as well, and found that Clifton, Alina and Alexa were talking over there in perfect peace. They might be coming to join them sometime…though she didn’t know really.
Everything was great! She hoped that everyone could enjoy their time — after all, this party’s friendly, right?ReducioNote: I’ve reopened this thread, and we could continue it if you guys are still interested! Aaah sorry for such a late reply!Thank Merlin, Cash joined in - now, the part-Veela didn't feel quite as stupid. She had always loved singing though, and this song was a particular favourite of hers for some reason. Perhaps it was the lyrics. Not only did the purple-haired person accompany Lucia with their guitar, they also joined in the last chorus with some harmonies which suited the song perfect. Lucia grinned at them.
The moment the song finished, Lucia flushed as Cash raised her hand in the air. "Oh, I don't know about that..." she said awkwardly. "Oh... Fox." the first-year added. "Lucia Fox."
Lindsey seemed impressed with the duo's performance, and joked that Lucia should judge their next show. The Hufflepuff turned near-red with a wierd mix of pride and embarrassment. "Heh... no fear," she answered as she jumped off the stage, just catching herself from falling. "Cash can do it. Right?" She turned to offer Cash a hand off the stage, especially seeing as they were carrying a guitar case.
Now that her embarrasment was over, Lucia snuck over to the back of the courtyard to grab an unhealthy amount of chocolate before sitting down in a chair. "Yes, your go Scarlett!" Then she realised she might be trying to force the other girl into something, and flushed a little. Speaking through a mouthful of chocolate, she mumbled, "That's-if-you-want-to-of-course-no-one's-forcing-"
