Adonis stomped his foot upon watching his spell whizz past her once again. He was so close to getting her out of the game once and for all. He could see the exhaustion starting to wear down on her yet she still managed to dodge. Unfortunately though he would have to try again in another round to get her.

Chess Combat, Game 1
Round Six10th of July 2020, noon
The duelers seem to be playing cautiously now. Everyone was moving to a new position to get a better angle on their attacks, though there seemed to be some that continued to attack! Mars was one of those players, but unfortunately, due to their lovely ballet recital, they were hit in one of their leaping legs with Thomas' Incendio! The poor student's leg instantly caught on fire and only time would tell if they would put it out themselves or pray that their queen's accurate fire extinguishing spell casting would help them out of this plight. Another kick in the butt was the fact that Mars' own spell missed its target due to the frilly dance they were doing, but at least the spell didn't backfire on them this time. On the plus side, their partner, Jack, had his spell connect successfully with Team White's queen, damaging the girl significantly. Much to the dismay of Team Black, Greta was not on fire, unlike their teammate.
Maybe they would try again and hope for the best!

Perhaps it was her focusing on her own team's performance or dodging the overly powerful-looking flipendo sent her way from Theo, but Santario missed for the first time this entire game. She swore a very unladylike swear under her breath. It was hard not to get distracted by a flaming ballerina, but she would save the jab at Mars when it wouldn’t burn them all the more. “Focus yourself, dumb girl.” She mumbled at herself readying for the next round.

Rejoice! One of his spells finally managed to gain purchase. Despite the rather unfortunate condition Thomas was currently in, it appeared Lady Luck was on his side once again, stumbling out of the way of Santario's Flipendo. Between that, and the fact that Mars was currently dancing uncontrollably and lit aflame, his demeanor brightened considerably. Still, he had learned the rather hard lesson of remaining focused in the match, so rather than making some snarky comment, he was content with celebrating his victory to himself.
The Ravenclaw mumbled under his breath a quiet, "Heck yeah..." No matter his potentially contemptuous attitude, the boy was never one to swear! Thomas even managed a smile, although his fatigue was apparent as the expression was rather subdued.

Dee made a face, her nose scrunching up in distaste. She'd been so worried about catching fire again that she'd focused on dodging instead of doing anything productive - and then Adonis had chosen this exact round to not attack her for once, and instead moved. The opposing Queen had done the same, which meant there were now two people in position to attack her. Fantastic. And Adonis was still not in a field where she could repay him for all those Incendios.
On the other side of the field, Thomas had managed to set Mars on fire. "What is it with these people and Incendio? Have they forgotten everything else they have learned in class this year?" she asked, scowling - and then realised their designated firefighter had moved into the space next to her. Great. Hopefully someone else would be able to come to Mars' aid.
Grumbling to herself, Dee looked back at Greta and Adonis, both standing in front of her, and to her own relief, felt a fresh wave of determination flood through her, replacing the annoyance and doubt. "Fine," she muttered softly. She wasn't sure she'd see the end of this game, but she sure as hell wouldn't go easily.

FINALLY.
Jack has finally redeemed himself and could die happy. He could live his life as a failure and die with a smile on his face because that one time he managed to hit a girl with a spell in a weird game of psuedo-chess with Magic. Whoop-dee-do. Now he could attack somebody else or something? Woo. Honestly, he was a bit lost, now that he had completed his life's goal.Stats:

Annoyed, Theodore stopped casting spells. The curse the blackhaired girl casted at him affected him too much to be a good duellant. Did a finite stop the effect of the curse? He wasn't sure, but if one of his teammates wasted a second to try it out, he would be very appreciative.OOC: That is probably because of my recent name change, I'd think
Theo looked around. His team looked quite well still and Theo was not ready to lose his optimism yet. As long as his team was still standing it couldn't matter so much when he missed once or twice... or rather four times... Anyway. He would hit eventually. This was not so bad.

Round 7
Damion was looking around as everyone seemed to be getting in position. Everything felt like it had gone haywire after the last few rounds of dueling. He was happy to be here now. He smiled and looked around. Looking around as the opponent tried to attack their Queen. He was hoping that their queen would survive the attack. He wished to Merlin that he'd be there to protect their Queen.

INTERACTING WITH: n/a | MENTIONING: Dealla, Jack, and Adonis
Karma always paid its dues. In a sense, anyway. That wasn't quite the way that her parents would word it back home, but the sentiment was the same. Power came to those who sought it; success was delivered to those who strove for it; misfortune was delivered upon those who were undeserving and made more choices in managing that which had been theirs. In this instance, Greta had displayed a sense of weakness in her apology, and in doing so, she had let down her guard.
What was more, she had allowed herself to become distracted. The persistent existence of the opposing rook [Dealla] who seemed to dance perpetually around her teammate's [Adonis's] attacks was beginning to grind on her. By now, she would have expected the girl to have been finished and to see her still standing left her with a twinge of annoyance, although she couldn't quite be certain as to whether that was directed towards the girl for managing to stay upright, or towards her own teammate for being outmanoeuvered. She'd had half a mind to move in and provide her own aid, but miscalculated. In the act of moving to a more advantageous position, she provided her opponent an opportunity to attack. One that she didn't see until it was too late.
The ball of flames came hurtling towards her faster than she might have expected, its bright heat drawing her attention when it was already upon her. Thankfully, she was able to avoid the worst of it, the trajectory of the projectile low enough that it would avoid her face or any truly vulnerable area. Even still, it connected at her shoulder, striking into her a pain so scalding that she couldn't help but to cry out. It stifled quickly enough, but not before a hand shot to the scorch mark on her dress to rub out the pain. She shot the boy [Jack] a scathing look as she took the last couple steps to complete her movement. He had settled the score, admittedly, but she could hardly be satisfied with that. At some point, she would have to unsettled it again, back into her favour.
