Lizzie cringed as Matrix mentioned how his drawing skills were so bad that he thought he'd get a failing grade on any assignment that required drawing. "I'm sure your drawings aren't as bad as you think they are," she told him, although she had never seen his artwork and for all she knew, they could be that bad. She liked to assume the best when it came to other people, so until she saw evidence that proved otherwise, she would believe that Matrix was decent at art.
The boy went on to answer her question about his favorite place he's traveled. Woah... he had lived in Japan?! "That's really cool!" the redhead exclaimed, having heard many good things about the country from Muggle internet. "Does Japan live up to the image Muggle internet paints?" she asked curiously, mentally drafting a letter to her parents in hopes of convincing them to go on a trip to the country in question. She hoped that if she quoted another person that hadn't known her intentions with the question when they answered, that her parents would realize that she hadn't baited the person into answered how she wanted them to, and therefore it would be a more solid argument as to why they should take a trip to Japan.
"Hufflepuff's a great house!" she agreed, smiling. Her smile dropped though, as she heard Matrix say he'd never had a friend. "You've never had a friend?!" she exclaimed, incredulous. How could someone have lived eleven years without making at least one friend?! It seemed impossible to her. "Well, you can no longer say that because I am now your friend." Everyone needed a friend in her opinion, and she was always happy to have more.

Lizzie would try to tell him that his drawings could not have been that bad. Matrix would smirk, "Trust me, they are awful" He did not really seem to care, he never really had an interest in the visual arts. Lizzie would then ask him if the muggle internet portrayed Japan was correct. He would think for a moment, recalling that some people thought that Japan was much more high tech than other places. "If you mean the advancements there, yes, in some areas. Not everywhere though." Matrix would say, "but you should definitely check it out." Matrix would say grinning.
When Matrix told Lizzie that he had never had a friend, Lizzie would tell him that she would be her friend. Matrix would smile, "Thanks!" He would say happy. He never thought making a friend was this easy. In this case, he could have loads of them, or so he hoped. The sun would have finished rising and the people in his tent would wake up in about 15 minutes. "Is Hogwarts fun?" He would ask her curiously. He had heard stuff about it, but wanted an insiders opinion on it. He was sacrificing exploring the world for a couple of years, to come hear, he really hoped it was worth it.

Lizzie nodded as Matrix confirmed she was talking about the technological advancements. At first, she was confused as to why only some areas of the country would be more advanced than others, but she figured it must have something to do with certain parts being richer than others and maybe more people lived in some parts? She didn't know too much about economics, but she did know that technology was expensive. A muggle phone could easily cost as much as adopting a pet, which she heard multiple times as her mother, a witch, attempted to buy her first muggle device.
"What about the food there? I've heard people say Japan also has really good food," she asked; food is one of the main reasons she wanted to go there, along with the sightseeing. "I'm pretty sure almost every country has good food though," she added as an afterthought. Maybe every country except America. America sounded like it just had fast food and burgers, neither of which sounded particularly appealing to Lizzie.
She glanced over at Matrix as he thanked her. The dark-haired boy looked so happy at that moment. It physically hurt Lizzie to see that he'd been genuine when he'd said he hadn't had any friends before. She hoped he would make many more friends during his time at Hogwarts. Now that she thought of it, since he was a first year, and her a second year, she might not see him too often during school, or at least during classes.
"Is Hogwarts fun?"
Lizzie didn't hesitate before answering his question. "It's alot of fun," she started. "Most of the classes are really interesting, the food is good, you have a surprising amount of free time to hang out with people... yeah, it's fun." She stared off into the horizon, reminiscing on her first year. She couldn't wait to go back to Hogwarts for her second year.

Lizzie would ask him about Japanese cuisine. Matrix would nod, “personally I like it. It can be spicy at times and the food has great umami. What type of flavors do you like?” Matrix would ask her. Personally, he liked bold, rich flavors with a lot of heat. She would tell him that pretty much all the countries have good food. “Yes, but a lot of them have there very own flavor profiles. It’s interesting to see how people can use the same ingredients to make completely different tasting dishes.
Lizzie would tell him the classes are interesting and the food is good. What more do you need? This would just exite him even more to go there. “Maybe it won’t just be a waste of time after all” Matrix would think grinning. He could not wait to ride on the Hogwarts Express. He had heard amazing stuff about it too. He would look at Lizzie for a second. She seemed happy about it too. “I hope I can see you around in school!” Matrix would say. He wanted to continue this new friendship, and he hoped he would get opportunities to see her around. He wondered what other people he may meet. Probably some mean people too. He Knew that the new school was not just smiles and laughter.

Lizzie struggled as she tried to remember what umami was. It sounded so familiar, yet she couldn't place anything to it. She was sure it would hit her later, though, so she didn't ask about it. Instead, she just nodded along, as if she did, in fact, remember what it was. "I'm not a picky eater," she told him. "I will literally eat anything, although I guess I prefer food that has alot of flavor, stuff that you don't need to put a kilo of salt on it to make it taste like something." With a soft snort, she recalled the last American "Thanksgiving" she'd been to with her American friends, and how some food there needed wayyyy too much salt, while others were dripping grease.
As Matrix exclaimed that he hoped to see her around school, a grin spread across Lizzie's face. She hoped the same too. Matrix was a really nice kid, and she wished the best for him. If he didn't make any other friends when he was at school, she'd definitely introduce him to hers, even though they were all in her year. He deserved a good group of friends. "I hope I see you at school too!" she told him. "Ooh~ How about on the second day, right before dinner we could meet up in the courtyard? And catch up?"
Just as Matrix agreed, a loud growl sounded from the redhead's stomach. Laughing awkwardly, she started to stand, saying, "I guess my stomach has decided it's breakfast time. Gotta go before it starts making angry whale noises, those are really weird." With a quick wave, she headed off towards where she thought the food was. "Byeee!" she called over her shoulder. "See you on the second day of school!!"
