Where did we go wrong? Open Closed

Glen sighed in relief. It seemed he hadn't fucked it up completely. She didn't hate him for being a mess – sure she might change her mind once she wasn't half freaked-out by his being a mess and realized that befriending him would not be worth the hassle and head-ache or something, though really, was it possible for him to hit whoever first thought that social interactions and conversations are a good idea. Okay, not really. Without it they'd all have died out ages ago due to never meeting anyone else and it wasn't like he was normally that much of a mess, even.

Still, a truly relieved look stole over his face as Serena not only agreed to go exploring together but even tried to think up a name for their future adventures! An almost – alright, no, who was he kidding, It was a giddy grin on his face. “Awesome! Yeah, we can … uh, next time we have a free afternoon or something? Or just after class sometime maybe?”

Breakfast … right, he'd abandoned his breakfast, hadn't he? He hoped her mention of getting hungry and getting breakfast wasn't an, well, a polite escape attempt. It wasn't like she couldn't eat at another house's table, it wasn't one of the big feasts, after all. But he could understand that she might want to get back to her friends now that their table should once again be safe, seeing as the Hufflepuff(?) Head of House seemed to have finished whatever it had been he'd been attempting with the dancing – crud, now he had missed most of it! He really needed to stop getting distracted.

And maybe he should return to his earlier spot and finish his breakfast himself, if it was still there. “Breakfast... uh, now that you mention it...”, he glanced further up the Slytherin table. “I should probably finish mine, too.”

Hjørdis sighed as her companion questioned the normalcy of the whole act once more. She was almost stumped for words. A part of her wished that this was not normal, that this was Caradoc intoxicated or after he had consumed far too much sugar. Sadly, she was not sure either was the case. This was just... him. "Perfectly normal for him..." She replied before shaking her head, a small laugh escaping her lips. It was utterly ridiculous but also... kind of amusing. There was a reason she had not stopped it. It was unprofessional, out of character for Hogwarts, and just utterly ridiculous. But... it was also needed. It was a breathe of fresh air, it was a counter to all of the hopelessness that people were feeling. The impeding doom, the heavy storms... It was a moment to smile - and the students were smiling. That was enough. Even if it was just for a moment, it was enough.

The Badger in charge of this whole fiasco finally stopped, as the music did. He started to clap, thanking everyone around him for their cooperation. He was met by a silent narrowing look from the silvery eyes of the head of Slytherin. They would hit the back of his head, he would not see it but he likely knew she would be staring at him anyway. The whole event was ridiculous. She sighed softly as she resumed eating. At least... they were happy, even if it was only for a moment. This was much better than what she had seen the other day. Her mind wondered for a moment, thinking back to the dark black marks that she had seen, the expression of disgust and the fear.

This might have been silly... but it made them happy. Finishing up her meal, she excused herself. Making her way out of the Great Hall after she had finished, she paused for a moment and glanced back over her shoulder to where the badger sat. Shaking her head, she sighed and smiled to herself as she turned and left. An absolute dumbass. But she could not deny that she was relieved to see him doing a bit better today.

With a bright grin, she nodded enthusiastically in response to his question, "Definitely! Let's do it. It's a date!" She claimed boldly. Not a romantic date, of course, but a friendly one. Because she was thirteen. And romantic dates were not a thing that she even considered. They shared some classes together, being in the same year group so it would be easy enough to meet up after class one day or organise something as they caught each other out in the corridors prior to class starting.

She was excited! In her eyes, she had pretty much just made another friend. It was great. Of course, they barely knew each other but it was fine. They had something in common and that was enough. Plus, he was much nicer than half the other people she was forced to be friends with. Well... She was not really friends with them but according to her parents, she should be. Serena did not get along with most of the people her parents wanted her to get along with, sadly. But Glen seemed a lot nicer than most of them so she was sure she would become friends soon enough.

Looking over as she heard her head of house, Serena smiled and clapped loudly, cheering them, "WOOO!!!" She screamed loudly in a form of celebration for those still dancing out there. It was great to see so many of her housemates get into the spirit of things and just have some fun!

Nodding, she agreed with Glen, "Food first. But I'll see you around for our exciting day of adventuring!" She added as she pushed herself off the seat, pressing against the table and climbing over the bench. With a wave and a grin, she quickly dashed off to the hufflepuff table to find a seat and start eating her breakfast, pleased that the day started with a whole lot of fun - and a new friend!
