Alexei smiled when Rose said that he could join them, and smiled even more at the color that had appeared in her cheeks. He thought highly enough of himself to be almost certain that he was a factor, whether or not that was accurate at all. One of the other girls - Scarlett was what Rose had called her - said he could sit somewhere. Oddly enough, she didn't seem as enthusiastic about him as most of the Hogwarts girls generally did. He also noticed that the girls named Scarlett and Rose both had lovely red hair and absently wondered if that had contributed to their names.

The dark-haired girl, which had to be Aurelia if the other one was Scarlett, seemed even less pleased that he was there. Had he offended her somehow? He didn't remember meeting her before, but maybe she was mistaking him for someone else. Still, after a moment, she seemed to warm up slightly and began to interrogate him. Alexei was always happy to talk about himself, especially to pretty girls. "From what I've heard, our team is quite good," he said, after nodding slightly in response to her first question. Sure, he wasn't a Quidditch fan, but he was big on school pride (even if the Hogwarts girls were all prettier). "Durmstrang is very, I think the English word is, disciplined? Strict applies too, I think," he told her, his brow scrunching for a moment when he had to think of the English word. His parents had insisted he learn English as well as French, but he had always preferred Russian to anything else, so his English had some gaps."I just finished my third year."

He glanced around them, trying to gauge if the game had started and if it had if it was going alright. His eyes stopped on a boy that made his pleasant mood dissipate. The little punk had dumped his drink all over Alexei on the first night and felt that it was appropriate to punch him at the campfire. Alexei was torn for a moment since, on one hand, he just couldn't let that fly, but on the other, he was surrounded by lovely girls who were interested in talking to him. Still, his sense of honor won out. He would make it quick and come straight back to the girls after, he decided. "I am so sorry about this, but I see someone I simply must speak to," he said, his tone pleasant as he rose. "I'm so, so sorry, I will be right back."

He made his way up the bleachers, his eyes deadly. The stupid girly haired boy didn't seem to notice the Russian approaching, which Alexei used to his benefit. He snatched the letter as he passed, then stopped in an empty bleacher that was a row up from this girly boy. "Oh, what's this, a love letter?" he said, his tone mocking. He glanced down at the scrap of paper and scanned it. Two words jumped out at him - Anastasia Beckett. His scowl twisted into a smile as a plan formulated. Anastasia was quite vivacious, and Alexei would be lying if he said that he didn't have something of a crush on her. She was just one of those people, and if he had read this boy correctly, then he had a very easy and fun way to get his revenge without any major obstacles.

"What are you doing writing to your parents about my girlfriend?" he demanded, acting as though he was confused and irritated. "Anastasia certainly has better taste in company and friends than the likes of you." He ran a hand through his perfectly messy hair as he glared at the younger boy waiting for an answer.

Amara winces as she sees Hanzo taking a penalty lap. She may not know much about the game, but that cannot be fair, right? She looks around but most people seem to be more interested in each other than the game in front of them and usually, that would be Amara, but today she cares for both the players and the outcome. She fiddles with her dress straps as she looks around for someone to talk to, but cannot seem to spot anyone. Amara decides to grab her parchment and quill and starts to write two different, but similar notes, each starting with 'Dear Hanzo". One is what she will give them if they win, telling him that she hopes to win too, win his heart. The second is a heartfelt note of if the foreign team loses, a note saying that she is proud and believes he was amazing; and again ending with her declaring her feelings for him. The two blondes may only have a few more days together, but Amara would prefer to enjoy them with full transparency then pretend her feelings are purely platonic. She tucks her hair behind her ear and starts to clap as Hanzo finishes his lap.

Though he had been silent for the most part at the beginning of the match, Piérre had been at the game from the very beginning, having found a place in the student section away from Maddie, who preferred to be away from the eccentric twin, in fact encouraging the Britalian to associate with individuals of his own age. Up to half an hour before the game, Piérre had been waiting, waiting and watching for his brother and the rest of his team to take the field. It was his brother who had won his way to this game with Hufflepuff, not Piérre, and so forget supporting the Puffs of his own school (he didn't have anything against them, after all, blood runs deeper than water), Piérre wanted to be there for his baby twin, and watch how his strong sibling managed to defend the hoops in an attempt to see if there was something to be gleaned from it.

Smiling, Piérre now feasted his eyes on the game, which had started out extremely violent. Green eyes flashed back and forth across the field, both in an attempt to watch every move and motivation of the players on both sides of the game, and in an attempt to spot the snitch for himself... He loved to play along with the game, to see if he could perform better than the other Seekers on the field. Even as he was musing to himself... the players were off, having been introduced and dedicated to their proper positions.

The first round was eventful as a first round could be, for not only was there a Quaffle score on both teams, but there were a duet of attempted Blatches; first a chaser that Piérre thought rather impressive as far as commandeering the field was considered. He almost made contact with his quarry, the part-goblin seeker of the Hufflepuff team, Serena. She was short, yes, butt her sleek silver broom provided her enough of an advantage that she was not affected by the attempted blatch.

The second blatch was the attempt of Piérre's brother, Romeo himself, which explained how the first goal of the game had been scored. Romeo looked as if he was going to hit as well, but at the last second, Piérre watched as his brother got smacked in the face by a piece of Serena's yellow robe. Both boys got a penalty lap, and Piérre let loose the breath that he had been holding in for the beginning of the round. All beaters were then put to work, smacking huge leather balls about like baseballs. Many of them were avoided, and the two Beaters from Durmstrang both targeted Serena. Four attacks, none of which hit... What was that part-goblin on?! Piérre wanted some!

Rolled a d4 to Determine House Colour for the Day:

2- Ravenclaw

4- Slytherin

Number Rolled: 1
Hufflepuff

No sooner had Piérre admired the game, than he suddenly watched with extreme horror that both beaters from the Hufflepuff team had their crosshairs set on Piérre's brother, Romeo himself! Piérre let out a shout of "ROMEO! LOOK OUUUUTTT!" and for a second it looked as if Romeo would make it out alright, as the first bludger whiffed him entirely and Piérre's twin dodged the attack with little to no effort. However... the second one sent the shorter twin spinning, throwing him off his broom and causing Piérre to clench at the collar of his black and yellow striped shirt, a tribute to Hufflepuff, though Piérre was not dedicated to cheering for the neon yellow team at all. Piérre watched with baited breath as Romeo struggled back onto his broom and continued his penalty lap. Chaos averted.

It looked to Piérre like neither Seeker had found the Snitch on the first round, including himself. He had been much to distracted with the fact that his brother had almost bit the earth on his first round of play. Well, there was more to the game coming, Piérre would have to keep his eyes peeled.

The second round was much more interesting, as Hufflepuff seemed to take a lapse of concentration for the first half. One.... Two.... Three strikes you're out as a tiny girl probably just a bit taller than Serena demolished the Hufflepuff Keeper, scoring thrice in a row. Durmstrang was up by 30, and the game hadn't even gotten intense! "Let's go 'Strang!" Piérre shouted at the top of his lungs, whooping and hollering the best he could.

The pale Durmstrang Seeker climbed towards the heavens and Piérre watched in breathless awe as he dominated the playing field, searching for the elusive golden ball.... Piérre's eyes widened as he saw it; a tiny orb about the size of half his fist, fluttering just above the Seeker, directly in the sun. No wonder neither he nor Serena had caught a glimpse of it, it had been camping overhead, dancing in the sun and letting sunlight play over its metallic features. You would have to have a perfect eye for that... and you'd had to have been VERY lucky.

Luck seemed to be something that Piérre had in spades, it seemed...

A crack, and the next second Piérre watched as the white seeker plummeted to the ground, having been polished off by the part-giant seeker on the team, Quinn Healey. Piérre winced as the Seeker's body hit the ground, even though he could not hear the impact over the screams of terror and appreciation from the crowd about him. Romeo and the Chaser were back in the game now... This could only get more interesting.

For now, Piérre was content on watching the Snitch dance across the field, always watching with glittering green eyes. What the boy would give to be on a broom right now...

"Hey, hey..." Piérre nudged the person next to him, "Snitch is right there, you see it? It was in the sun... Difficult spot, huh?" He smiled, never averting his eyes from the ball.

Howard rose from his seat as the match began, the excitement that buzzed through the stadium became his own as the players tore through the air. He took a long swig from his newly cooled beer before a strange look from Erin caught the corner of his eye. It was most likely a behavior she had never seen from him before, but over the years he had become quite the fan of Quidditch. There was just something about watching a game of such high speed and intensity that really got him going. Mix that with the atmosphere of an excited crowd and the boy was right at home. It was unusual for the normally pissy and antisocial Dhampir, but as some say, this was his jam.

It wouldn’t take but a few minutes before the match got dirty. As much as Howard should have appreciated the Durmstrang team’s intensity and willingness to foul right of the bat, when he saw their intended target his blood began to boil. “Oi! Ref! Open your damn eyes! Foul!” He shouted with fist shaking in the air. The intended target of their foul was none other than Serena Towers. The lovely third year that had blasted a hole in Howard’s dark demeanor. Fortunately for Hufflepuff, a penalty lap was the price to pay for team Durmstrang, but a hail of Bludgers would again target the dark haired beauty. “Oh!...Damn!...Look out Serena!” Howard called out as he grasped Opeila’s shoulder with his free hand in a panic. However, the moment would soon subside as she was able to dodge the attacks.

It would be then that he would realize that he had just shouted out her name and that he was also squeezing the life out of poor Opeila’s shoulder. Fortunately for Howard, he had lost the ability to blush. His hand would let go and take a quick swipe through his hair as his eyes darted around in embarrassment. Unsure of what to say now, he brought the bottle back to his lips and spent the next few moments draining its contents.

Santario kept snapping pictures with her camera getting the last few entrances.
Aaron Jones pumping up his team, Reid Kovaks making his rounds and cheering on his team, and Elias Oja Walking onto the pitch.
As they waited for the whistle to blow, it was as if the air was being charged with static. Latent energy just waiting to be released into a shockwave that would rock them all when allowed. Seconds felt like minutes, and when the whistle blew, the tension was released as power flooded the atmosphere. She clicked and followed the quidditch players with familiarity both from being on the pitch and being behind the camera.
Serena T grabbing the quaffle just out of Greta’s fingertips. Serena T not only managed to dodge Hanzo & Romeo’s blatch but also a bludger. She would score for Hufflepuff. Greta grasped the quaffle next and scored for Durmstrang. Willow would successfully block the next goal that came her way from Durmstrang. Saskia would successfully nail the Durmstrang keeper with a bludger, karma for cheating perhaps. While the game was set up for the second round, Santario would take a moment to turn back to the crowd and take photos of people behind her from Hogwarts and the other surrounding audience.
Before the second whistle, Santario would turn back to the game. “Come on, HUFFNPUFFS!” She cheered for them as the camera went back up to her face to once more get more photos.
Greta would successfully wrestle the quaffle out of Annie’s hands. In fact, Greta would get the quaffle every time this round. She was so on her game that she would score 30 points against Willow, who seemed to be off of her game tonight of all nights. However, the score shots made for some great photos, even if it wasn’t her team. Quinn would crack a brilliant bludger that knocked Valentin clear off of his broom. Revenge would be taken on the half-giant, though it would far from knocking the boy from his broom.
Santario lowered her camera from her face once more as the set up for the next round started. All of the bodies in the stadium really heated things up, and the fact that it was already hot she was melting. This was so unpleasant, but oh, the things you do to capture fleeting memories. She waved one of the people over that were selling concessions and slipped him some coins in return for a few waters, and some random snack. She would chug the first water until it was gone and save the second one for later so that she did not have to call the man over sooner than she wished.

As soon as he started to get his thoughts to paper, his letter was snatched up by none other than Alexei.

"Hey! What the fuck?!" He hissed at him. If there was any one person on this earth that could make him furiously angry just by breathing in his direction, it was that guy. He stood up, trying to get the letter out from his hands, gripping onto the kid's shoulder harshly as he fumbled around with the arm that was keeping it out of his grasp. That is, until Alexei mentioned Ana's name.

What?

"No way." He gave him a shove out of disbelief. It wasn't enough to make him fall over, of course. Eyre, of all people, would know that the brute was made like a tank. However, it was just enough for him to snatch the letter from Alezei's hand. He sat down, trying to get his thoughts together as he tried to smooth down the irretrievably ruined piece of parchment. It didn't make sense to him. It absolutely didn't make sense.

"There is no way that you're dating her. How could someone as intelligent as Ana Beckett be interested in an absolute dickhead like you?" The answer was simple. Alexei was attractive. But if he knew anything about his friend, she hated idiots. But could Alexei be the exception? He scoffed at the idea, looking back up on him.

"You're messing with me. How would you even know her? "

Alexei's small irritation seemed to drive the boy off the rails. He used one of the few curse words that Alexei recognized at upon seeing the Russian and proceeded to shove him. It wasn't enough to knock him over or anything, but it startled him enough that he was distracted and the boy got his stupid letter back. God, they were violent here in England. In Russia, Alexei had to rely more on his wit and cunning than his considerable muscles, but here, people (specifically Eyre) were ready to throw down at the drop of a hat. Not that Alexei particularly minded, since he was fairly physically fit, but he couldn't actually fight anyone. Maybe it was because he was the spoiled baby son of a wealthy family, but he had never had reason to. It was rather irritating, and he absently wondered if the lovely English girl had been the type to run around the school punching people. Definitely not, he decided. She was far too well-bred for that nonsense. *author snickers*

"Oh, Anastasia and I have known each other for ages," he said, thrilled that this was getting under the boy's skin. "We started dating when she was in Russia last year. And as for why she would date someone like me, I'm exactly her type. As she says 'tall, dark and gorgeous." His imitation of her voice as he said something he'd heard her say as a joke at a party once was surprisingly good considering the two hadn't actually spoken in months. He couldn't actually remember the context of the joke, but that was definitely the moment he had developed feelings for the English girl. They'd been at a party, and she had told that joke and shot him a mischievous wink. The idea that someone like Girly Boy knew her too made him angrier than it should. "And even someone as smart as her can make mistakes, as evidenced by anything she might have to do with the likes of you."

Expressing excitement for Willow's small victory, Sylvain turned around to see the expressions of the others. ”Grass. Not bad, honestly.” Sylvain smiled, eyes wincing shut a bit as he tried to imagine the taste of grass. It was familiar, he had tasted it sometime ago. "Not a bad pick, what about..." he questioned, trailing as his gaze moved on to Aida and the magnanimous Zaza. As Aida meekly consumed the bean, presenting the other half on the flat of her hand she swapped flavors with the owl atop the pale beanboozler's shoulder, an uncomfortable understanding of her curiosity crept in. "You got liver, I haaate liver." Seemingly the morbid pair of bean swapping companions appeared content with their trade. "You're most welcome Aida!" Sylvain said, a gentle kindness in his voice.

As Sylvain turned to Calanthe to reassure her that watching the crowds was plenty fun too, he outstretched his hand with the pair of binoculars. Only as he did so, he caught what looked like disgust or horror, as she yeeted whatever disgusting bean she'd ended up with covering the act with a fake cheer. Flushed, Sylvain's eyes were as round and bright as they'd ever been. Out of fear of rousing her primordial and volatile anger, Sylvain pretended as though he never saw the bean being yote into the sun. In fact the memory was struck from his mind altogether, even if only so that Calanthe could preserve her dignity. As he quietly set the field glasses down on the bench next to her as a peace offering, his face turned into a gentle smile as he offered her a chance to use them. It was the best he could do to dismiss her act of intense bean revolt without drawing attention to it. "Use them to watch the crowd if you want."

Plopping back into his seat as Bridget declared her flavor to be "spicy," Sylvain raised the last bean to be level with his vision. It was bright pink, and that worried him. Would it be prawn or bubblegum? Deciding that there was no clearer way to find out, Sylvain popped the bean into his mouth as one would a breath mint. Carefully, the boy bit down, prepared to similarly, yet less elegantly spew it out should the flavor disgust him. Much to his gleeful surprise, the sweet and unique flavor of bubblegum filled every corner of his mouth with juicy pink sugar. "MMmmmmmm bubblegum, yum!" He chewed a little while longer, finally swallowing the sole remnant the small bag of mysteries contained. Sylvain began paying less attention to the game, and more to the people around him.

"Anyone got more candy? Or know some tricks? Or want to talk about books?" He opened the questions to the group, hoping to avoid darker topics, or deeper discussions for another day.

For the most part, Flash was watching the game attentively. He sat with his back straight and his hands folded in his lap, his head moving side to side and his eyes searching all around, to try to follow the fast-paced action.

The Durmstrang chaser that had previously scored one out of two goals in the last round was now scoring over and over again. She was a devastating opponent for their beloved Willow, who kept desperately trying to stem the tide of a single player’s unstoppable efforts. Each time, Flash’s hands would lift slightly, as if there was anything he could do, and each time he would clench them tightly together again. It wasn’t easy to watch Willow try so hard and come up short. He couldn’t see her clearly in the gigantic stadium, but her body language was clear: frustration was mounting.

Bludgers were starting to hit their marks, and they found purchase on perhaps the most important player on the Durmstrang team-- their seeker. Like the white rabbit descending down the passage to Wonderland, the small pale body fell limp from the floating broom and plummeted to the ground to the instant gasps and screams from the chaotic crowd. Flash’s heart leapt, and he instinctively looked over at Bridget, who he assumed would be looking at him too. They had only just recently talked about what a dangerous position seeker was, and what better example than to see the seeker on either team brutally targeted, and eventually felled. That’s what you accepted when you applied to be seeker, everyone’s eyes were on you, no less the enemy team’s.

It was only getting more thrilling by the moment. The Durmstrang team was now far ahead in points without even trying to defend their goals. It wasn’t often that a game was determined by Quaffle points, but it was hardly unheard of. Bridget had said that the Hufflepuff seeker was very talented, but as far as he could tell, she hadn’t found the snitch yet either. It was still anyone’s game. Flash was starting to think he quite liked Quidditch, he would be sure to attend all of the Hogwarts games next year if he could.

Sylvain’s voice brought him back to the presence of the fellow watchers gathered around him. None of them were objectionable company by far, the lot of them had been passing around his binoculars and lightly chatting. He had only invited Sylvain, but he was happy with how things had turned out. He imagined he would have quite a fond memory of the occasion, though the thought simultaneously made him feel strangely separate from the gathering. Would they be remembering him as fondly, or was he only a brief visitor in their lives, a face that would fade as quickly as it had been introduced. Well… no point in dwelling on thoughts like that.

Syl had asked a question, it seemed he wasn’t quite as invested in the outcome of the game as Flash and Bridget might be, and possibly Sir Aida. He was asking general questions, hoping to stoke the fires of discussion. Frankly, Flash wanted to keep an eye on the game lest he miss something important. He had promised to give Miss Evelynn a detailed play-by-play, after all, since she regrettably had to miss the event.

”I have more candy, but not really enough to share.” Flash dug through his bag and handed Syl a caramel, assuming he was still peckish.

Erin clicked her tongue with annoyance and disgust as the entire Hufflepuff Team came to Serena's defense. It was as if the universe went out of its way to protect that one little girl. Howard was screaming about the injustice of the foul. Of course the one thing he would give two shits about would be the same girl everyone else makes a fuss over. This is what jealousy looked like, not that the part-Veela understood the concept. Some people were just loved for existing. Everyone's favorite. Did not matter if they were a cry-baby or had no talent, looked like everyone else. OK, she had a really cool year-round tan. Damn bitch. Everyone liked her just because... honestly she had no idea. People just did. Some energy she gave off. Some talent she had. One Erin was not even in remote possession of and Merlin she tried.

"Woo... go badgers," Erin muttered as she sarcastically twirled her finger in the air and laid her head back in the stadium seat she occupied like a petulant child. While Durmstrang was ahead in quaffle scores, the same could not be said regarding their progress in finding the snitch. Serena had an eye for such things it would seem. She had carried her team to victory on more than one occasion. However, this time it might be different. If they took the girl out, the girl who would likely be the last one standing in that game. Or if they somehow scored enough times with their quaffle, they might pull this win away. MIGHT.

No, she was not going to sit here and watch Serena be lauded the miracle Seeker... Hero of Hogwarts. Drown in Howard's drool. She could swim but not today. Heck no.

Erin stood up, the seat Howard had so kindly ensured was vacated would be empty again. "Enjoy the game," a stereotypical sentiment intended for Howard but not directed at him. It was the sort of thing you say but don't actually mean. Yes, she did not mean it. If someone nearby had a snack in hand besides Howard and Opeila, whom she had terrorized enough for one day, as she started to vacate her row she would swat at the piece of food be it a bowl of treats or an ice cream cone. If there was none, then oh well. "I'm out."

Just a trick of the lighting they said...
