Henry just stepped into the charms classroom after lunch, as he looked around he knew that Slytherin's and Hufflepuff's had charms together and he didn't have a problem with that, the only problem he did have was every desk seemed to have been taken. Henry wandered around the room as he saw Slytherin's and Hufflepuff's already occupied many of the tables, as he thought about sitting with Altair or Charles but it seemed that their desks were already full. As Henry looked for at least one open seat, he came up empty handed so he took a seat at the desk in the first row, that was the only complete empty desk. Not that Henry minded while he would have like to sit next to his friend or anyone for that matter, he was also good by himself as he placed his messager type bag next to his desk and took a seat in the chair as he awaited for any other students to find a seat and for the professor to began.
As he waited Henry took out his notebook, quill, and ink from his messager type bag. He opened his notebook to a clean page then popped the top off his ink and dipped his quill into it as he begun to write some quick notes before the class begun, if he was sitting next to anyone or could talk to anyone then he wouldn't have started the lesson early and but he was alone so he decided to get ahead. Henry took his charms book out from his bag and flipped the pages to what the lesson would be on today, Henry frowned when he saw it was the wand-lighting charm and the wand-extinguishing charm. Both charms Henry already read and learned at his home last year, he didn't practiced it yet but he figure since he both read and learned about them last year then he could probably practice and already do them. So instead Henry flipped the pages if the book to the charm; Arresto Momentum and he begun to take notes on that while he read it quickly as he taught himself the charm before class.

Charms class was something Lindsey had always been expecting. It was great, yet interesting and exciting.
Born as a witch, Lindsey had been knowing various spells. Although her parents made sure their son and daughter couldn’t get access to their wands, she still…somehow managed to experience some little charms.
Hogwarts noons were always boring according to the young badger. She would grow sleepy, like most of her peers, and yet, maybe even grumpy.
Class with Slytherins was always an experience. It’s weird that the young badger found herself especially attracted to the snakes, and would really like to spend sometime with them.
She walked into the classroom. It seemed that she had somehow came late. Maybe it’s because she spent ten minutes reading? Well, honestly she didn’t know.
Most seats were taken at the moment. Alina, Alexa and Clifton seemed all taken their seats, and Gerald seemed having a partner to seat as well.
Her chocolate brown eyes wandered around the room, and finally, a seat.
It was shared with a snake, one she hadn’t met before. The boy was reading his textbook, or only a book.
Anyway, if she wanted to take a seat this class, then she must come over.
Never mind. Talking to strangers was never difficult for Lindsey.
“Hello there,” she said. “If this seat taken?”
Lindsey glanced at the book the boy was reading. Arresto Momentum? An easy one.
“Ah, that’s an interesting spell, isn’t it?” she commented, and patiently waited for the boy’s reply.

Henry heard a voice ask about the seat besides him then comment on the spell he was reading over, he looked up and saw the speaker was a hufflepuff who had long blonde hair. Henry smiled as he tried to find the courage to tell her the seat was empty, he never found it easy to talk to others and usually wouldn't have any confidence to do so as he cleared his throat and felt in the back of his head, his ever growing worries and anxiety as he spoke "not at all, uh please." Henry then moved his messager type bag to his other side and placed it on the ground as he then scanned around the room and saw that everywhere else was full, so that's why she ask to sit here and why would she comment on my spell, maybe I should say something about it or not... ugh why can't I have confidence in speaking, maybe I should or shouldn't. As Henry was debating what to do in his head, he heard himself start to speak something that he never done before to anyone no matter the situation so he was unsure as the words flowed from his mouth " arresto momentum is interesting but sadly I already learn it. I'm only reading it now because apparently there aren't many advanced charms in this book," Henry could feel his neck start to sweat as he wondered to himself, why would I just speak, how did I just speak, Henry never then that before, he would never just speak usually that was odd and why would he speak of the spell, yes it was true that he already learned it but he would never say it. He was never one to brag it boast so why start now, he needed to somehow fixed what he did and fast as the professor was about to start the class, as Henry spoke quietly and fast "uh, do you know the spell?"Nice going idiot how you really sound like your boasting or bragging, as thoughts filled the Slytherin's head he knew he just messed up and he opened his mouth to fix it but got cut off by the start of the class, so he shut his mouth and felt the ever growing feel of anxiety and regret fill his mind.

“Not at all, uh please.” the boy said.
Lindsey gave him a small smile, and sat down. A good start? Or…an awkward one? The young badger didn’t know. She hadn’t met many people yet…at the start of the term.
“Arresto momentum is interesting but sadly I already learn it. I'm only reading it now because apparently there aren't many advanced charms in this book.” the boy continued.
Lindsey raised an eyebrow. So he was talking about Arresto momentum? Wait, he said he had already learnt it…who told him she hadn’t learnt? And there weren’t many advanced Charms in the textbook?
She had to admit that unfortunately, there indeed weren’t many advanced ones. After all, it’s a textbook. You couldn’t expect it to teach you something “advanced”, since plenty of students grew up non-magical. Apparently this snake was born in a wizard family, so as a result he had knew numerous spells. But hey…she was exactly the same.
The boy spoke things fast. “Uh, do you know the spell?” he finally asked.
“Yep.” Lindsey answered simply. The Slowing Charm was something her father liked to teach her and her brother at home. It’s useful, as he had said.
She could perform it well. Lindsey had practiced it for a couple of times in her dormitory. Successful, they were. She just…didn’t want to say as it seemed pretty useless to boast at this situation.
After all, they were learning the wand lightening charm today, not slowing charm, right?

Henry heard the hufflepuff say yes and he thought she was going to say more but didn't so he thought about saying more but instead kept his mouth shut and hopefully not say anything else that wasn't normal for him. As the class started Henry closed his book and placed it in his messager type bag, he then placed his quill next to his notebook as he scanned the room and saw so many taking notes, I'm glad I learn this spell already, as Henry thought he looked over at the hufflepuff to see if she was taking notes or not, as Henry noticed that she was shorter then him but not that much and she had shoulder length wavy golden - brown hair that sort of remained the young slytherin of his sister. The hufflepuff almost seemed pretty sitting their with fair to pale skin and warm chocolate eyes, that seem to hide her true feelings. Henry looked away as he didn't want to say anything again and embarrass himself, he was still truly a socially awkward person who had more anxiety then most others his age so he just sat there quietly as the class continued.
Even through charms was the young Slytherin's favorite class he still got bored easily and often daydreamed or through about something else or mainly from his anxiety made lists from pros and cons in his head. As he could feel his anxiety looming over his head like a dark storm cloud waiting to release buckets of water over his head, he ran a hand through his hair and almost missed the end of the professor's lecture where they now were instructed to team up with their desk mate to practice the wand lighting charm and the extinguishing charm. Henry didn't know why they had to team up and couldn't think of how to team up while practicing a charm, but still Henry did like the class the most so he would follow the rules, sort of as he turned to the hufflepuff and spoke " It looks like were partner's, I'm Henry by the way." After his introduction he placed his quill and notebook back in his bag , followed by his ink that he put the top back on first before putting it in his bag. He took his wand out from his robes and place it in front of his on the table, as he waited for others to practice since he knew or thought he because he already learned the spell he would get it on his first try unlike his peers and would keep his spot as top of the class in charms.

Charms was as exciting as usual. Lindsey had always liked it, and although the lessons was indeed a little easy, she just couldn’t get bored. Maybe the only class that she felt annoying was Astronomy. That was truly boring.
Lindsey glanced at the boy beside. Strangly, he wasn’t taking any notes down. The brown haired boy seemed pretty confident in his charms, and believed himself could perform the spell well even if he didn’t pay much attention to the lesson. Does he had the confidence that he would got a full mark at the exam time? She wondered.
The boy didn’t speak much during the lesson. He seemed…a bit awkward. Maybe he regarded her as awkward as well, because the Hufflepuff wasn’t saying much today (again, strangely).
Finally, time to practice. The best part of class.
She slowly put her quill down, and closed the textbook. Pairing up to perform a spell together was really weird. After all, spells are performed by one wand instead of two, right?
Maybe the professor just wanted us to learn the spell better——your desk mate could help you when practicing it. She thought.
She didn’t know whether this snake would generously offer his helping hand to her if she accidentally missed the right incantation or gesture. He didn’t seem helpful at all…but maybe she was wrong.
“It looks like we’re partner's, I'm Henry by the way.” The Slytherin finally spoke.
“Name’s Lindsey.” She offered a small smile to the boy.
She grabbed her wand and carefully examined it. Beech wood with a phoenix feather core. She really liked this collocation, and would definitely always cherish the magnificent magical item.
Looking her wand over and over, the young Hufflepuff couldn’t help muttering out the incantation.
“-Lumos.”
A small light sparkled at the tip of her wand, lightening her desk.
Had she succeeded?
Seemed so.
——although she wasn’t really sure about how she had begun the cast.

The hufflepuff introduced herself as Lindsey with a smile toward Henry but for some odd reason he felt like she was saying something else behind her words, before he could think of anything else to saw her successfully cast the wand lighting charm. So Henry quickly picked up his wand and muttered " Lumos," his wand remained dark and no the tip didn't produced any light, Henry was shocked at this how could it not have worked. The wand lighting charm was one of the spells that he learned a few years ago so it should have worked, to make things worse he saw Lindsey get approval from the professor plus houses points,
which should have been his. Henry was still dumbfounded on how it didn't work, he was the top of the class and never earned less than a outstanding in charms but here he was, having failed at casting such a easy spell that Lindsey seemed to cast and unknowingly became the new top of the class.
Henry bit his lip, as he had a new feeling in his stomach but he ignored it as jealousy was something the slytherin hardly ever felt, he then cleared his throat and spoke "Lumos," and this time the tip of his wand started to glow with light that he created, he smiled and was relieved that he finally did it but there was something else that was bothering the young Slytherin. Lindsey has successfully casted it before him, making her the new top.of the cast, pushing him off from his perch and usually he wouldn't mind this but today for some odd reason he minded and he actually felt jealous of her and wanted to best her. Henry didn't know why he felt like this, he never had this feeling before because usually he would be the person to help his friends and be happy when they succeeded instead he was feeling jealous at the hufflepuff and wanted to best her as he spoke "nox," as soon as he said it the light on the tip of his wand disappeared and he smiled at Lindsey, and watched to see if she could successfully cast the charm to, while trying not to let any jealousy in his mind.

The Slytherin quickly picked up his own wand. What’s he going to do? Cast a jinx at her?
The young badger wondered, and glanced at her partner doubtfully. He’s a lad with brown hair, and maybe slightly taller than her…somehow she believed his face was rather common among boys.
She watched the snake trying to perform the spell. Apparently, he would fail for this time. His gesture was really a little intriguing——at least herself would not want to try a hand movement like this. He didn’t seem following the rules at this time.
So, was he smart and good at Charms after all? The young badger asked herself. An intriguing question. Sometimes just because we are too confident so that we couldn’t do an easy thing well.
The girl noticed that Henry was a little uncomfortable. Because she was first? And better until now? She shook her head to herself. No, Lynn, he’s not that competitive and proud… she tried to convince herself. She failed. Cause after all…he’s a snake.
The Slytherin seemed anxious, for he quickly attempted again. “Lumos.”
She had no doubt this time he would succeed. Being a wizard born that had practiced this spell years ago and decided that the textbook was too easy should do well, right?
She watched Henry merrily said “Nox” and smiled to her. He seemed really glad.
Lindsey paid a smile back——not because she was glad, but her usual expression——while suddenly finding out her wand tip was still lightened by the spell.
The girl announced a hardly audible “Nox”, then turned to the Slytherin. “Nice work, really.” she muttered to him.
Then, the young badger waited for a reply.

“Nice work, really.” The Hufflepuff told him after extinguishing her own light, but something was off about her smile. Henry tried to move past it as he scanned the room answers noticed that everyone was still practicing the wand lighting charm and the extinguishing charm, so Henry looked back to the hufflepuff as he spoke "thanks, you to Lindsey." Henry thought that sounded friendly as he gave her a quick smile then started to fiddle with his wand as he thought, he started to feel odd and he didn't know why. The back of his neck started to sweat but not from his anxiety and his stomach felt like it had knots but not from nerves as he look over at the young hufflepuff then at the rest of the class. Only him and Lindsey have finish practicing and castes both charms correctly, so then why did he feel odd and what was thus new feelings that was growing inside the young Slytherin.
Jealousy was looming over the Slytherin's head but he didn't know it at the time, while he thought Lindsey was nice and acted friendly toward her. He still felt a overwhelming feelings to do better than her and take back his spot at the top of the class, but why did he feel odd? He never felt like this with anyone else, in fact he couldn't remember a time in his life where he was ever jealous of anyone so why now? Little did Henry know that he just met his rival, will it be his first or only, it was hard to tell and the first year didn't even it know, well not yet at least. As Henry thought Lindsey looked at him odd to, maybe she thinks I'm mean or evil or weird, or maybe she wants to do better than me or maybe she sees me as friendly competition, as Henry looked around everyone was still a bit busy with the wand lighting and extinguishing charms so he cleared his throat before he spoke " I was going to practice some other charms if you want to join me, since were both finished." Henry then remember that the next lesson was on wingardium leviosa so he took his quill from his messager type bag then placed it on the table in front of him and pointed his wand at it as he spoke "Wingardium Leviosa," and the quill floated in the air as Henry controlled where it flew. He then smile at Lindsey and hope that she could perform the charm to while a very tiny part of him hoped that she failed, at least the first time she attempted it.

“Thanks, you to Lindsey.” the Slytherin said “friendly” to her.
Friendly? Oh come on your Lindsey Springhall is not a fool. She could distinguish the fierce expression on the snek’s face. The badger’s really sensitive, mind you.
But at least this time he gave her a smile. Though quick. But after all a smile. Who wanted to make enemies within the first term at school? Only those bully kids would accept the deal.
Lindsey examined her wand once again. It was taken good care, and she was pleased with her examinations. She threw a block of golden brown curl back to her shoulder, when Henry spoke.
“I was going to practice some other charms if you want to join me, since were both finished.”
Lindsey shrugged. “Alright then.” she answered simply, while trying to make herself as agreeable as possible.
Why not play with the overconfident one once? No harms. she chuckled to her own self in a hardly audible voice.
She watched the snek’s actions attentively. What does he want to cast? A jinx? Or a patronus charm? Lindsey wondered carelessly. Some other charms. What is it? To be honest she was actually pretty excited——to see her peers to perform difficult spells. That would be interesting.
The Slytherin did not let her wait for long. But, um, somehow upset the young badger. For he just casted a Wingardium Leviosa. Something that was overall not hard at all.
She felt another smile from Henry. A friendly one? Or a competitive one? She did not know. However what was clear that the boy wanted her to perform the spell as well.
Lindsey picked up her beech wood wand once more. “Wingardium Leviosa.”
Her spell apparently worked. For her quill floated into the air just like her partner’s.
A smile was offered to the Slytherin once again. That’s what she could give away generously. Smiles never cost a sickle.
