Turning from the Queen to the Bishop had been nothing but a pivot of the hips in his direction. With a steely grin, Mars flicked their wrist towards him, taking a recoiling step back as the spell shot out of their wand. Sea glass eyes watched as the light arced its way towards him—and missed.

Damn. They were really on a losing streak here.

But the annoyance only had time to flood their lungs for a second before another spell burst in from behind. Mars smirked at it made contact, their earlier failure nothing but an afterthought. They lived and died as a team, right?

Suddenly, the boy retaliated. A spell came hurtling at Mars and they jolted, shifting their body just in time to narrowly miss being grazed by the thing. The Ravenclaw breathed a sigh of relief. From the looks of it, that had been an Incendio and gods knew there was already enough fire on this field.

Mars glanced back at the Bishop, taking him in. He didn't really seem like one to easily miss... Ah, maybe it had been the spell from before that had knocked it off course. Even if it hadn't, they still owed one to the ebony-haired Slytherin.

"San, I could kiss you, but it'd take me an extra round to do it, so—" Mars glanced behind them, surveying the rest of the field, "I'll just have to win this for us instead."

Not a moment later and Jack's words registered to their mind. A bet, huh? They turned, catching the end of a spell that shot out of the Prefect's wand like a bullet. Unfortunately, Ms. Twinkle Toes was just too good. Mars gritted their teeth, but soon enough, gave their teammate a smile.

"Well, if you're gonna have that piss poor aim for the rest of the match, it shouldn't be too hard for me to win, ey?" they agreed. A bet sounded fun—besides, they could always use the extra cash.

Mars was about to turn back to the two obvious threats near them to prep for the next round when a thud came from their right. Startled, they glanced up. The other team's Bishop was flat on him back and a square further than he'd been. Ha! Of course, what else should they have expected from Dee.

"Dee, great—" their congrats was cut short when they realized the girl was on fire again. Mars sighed. For being on fire for basically the duration of the match, she really wasn't looking so hot.

"Welp," they drawled, "She is right. You're up, Princess."

INTERACTING WITH: @Jack Warren | MENTIONING: Mars
Greta had barely righted herself from the last onslaught of spells she'd dodged before those who had attempted to attack her began to speak. The one farthest from her, with the black and gloriously wavy hair, she missed entirely. The speech had been just a little too fast for her to understand. Not that she was paying all that close of attention; it hadn't really seemed directed at her, as far as she could tell, and she had more pressing matters given the boy in front of her. He called out something, loud enough for everyone on the board to hear.

She caught exactly "ten sickles" and "hit". By now, given the unorthodox makeup of her friends group, Greta had grown quite adept at trying to figure out the message someone was attempting to get across with very few words. This one seemed relatively simple. A mention of money to hit? It seemed like he was offering up a challenge. A coy smile laced with a sprinkle of self-satisfaction pulled her cheeks. For all of about two seconds before it occurred to her that she would then be the target of more attacks than she would like to have to handle. That wouldn't do. Better to finish him off quickly, then.

"Flipen—" She'd begun to say, but it seemed he wasn't about to let her go quite that easily. Following up his first attack with a second, Greta hadn't even gotten her own incantation fully spoken before she was already forced to hop to the side to avoid another line of light directed for her. Credit where credit was due — he was a quick cast. Something she was actually surprised to see.

"You... not hit, again?" she grinned, her thick Norwegian accent making everything seem like a question. Nevermind that she hadn't even managed to cast her spell, she took what smug satisfaction that she could from having dodged him yet again.

"I.. ehm.. " She faltered slightly in her following speech, nose wrinkling as she tried to think of how to say what she wanted. It was bad enough that she couldn't coordinate properly with the rest of her team, but to not even be able to adequately cross words as well as wands in the middle of a duel? It was downright depressing. All she wanted was to tell him to watch how it was done. How hard was that? Apparently, quite. The closest thing that came to mind was, "I hit, you watch?"

She accented the taunt with a displeased crinkle of her lips. Even with her limited English, she knew that would hardly sound intimidating at all. Ah well. Nothing to be done about that. She would simply have to instil a sense of respect from action.

Princess had really seemed to stick, not that he really minded but he really was a queen. His first attack spell went... awful. Maybe it was because the last couple rounds were spent putting out a fire instead of setting one and his wand suddenly wasn't used to it. A small dissatisfied grunt came out before flames caught his eye again. "Ms. Dealla, I'm the flaming one here, not you. And red is not your color my dear." His eyes rolled, practically going back into his head before preparing for the next round. Ignoring Jack's bet, as he was above betting.

Theodore had missed her again. Now it started to become really annoying. He still felt the effect of her curse and he hated that it distracted him so much. She couldn't last very long still right? He had already hit her with some spells. Just two... or maybe three more hits. That couldn't be so hard right? With narrowed eyes he tried to aim better.

Aha! Adonis managed to land another hit on her upon casting Incendio once again. He could tell that he was close to taking Dealla out of the match once and for all. She had been set on fire several times already and a person could only take it to a certain limit. So much for all that crap talking she had going on for her. The Slytherin was aware that her next move would be pure defense to try and stay in the game.

Jack quizically looked down at the little 'queen.' These first words she had managed to squeak out managed to be a threat! Such audacity! Jack couldn't help but laugh aloud. "I wish you the worst of luck then!" Jack considered himself an agile type of guy. He wasn't entirely worried about getting hit by a spell. His memories flashback to the secret Blossom Ball, where a certain Jack (that wasn't himself) attempted to cast a spell point-blank at his chest, and he still managed to dodge. "Let's see if you can actually do something other than dance around, yeah?"

Knocked back by a Flipendo, the pain Thomas experienced was enough to wipe the smug smile off of his face. His spell was thrown off course by his surprise, and anger was threatening to break through his façade as his Incendio sailed past his intended target harmlessly. Still, this was all a game, and despite the good-natured banter from the other team, he remained confident. The Ravenclaw may have been a bit bruised, both physically and metaphorically right in his ego, but that didn't sway his attempt at a taunt towards the initial target of his attack the previous round, Mars. For the most part, Tommy was just trying to take the attention off of Greta, his team's queen.

"How about you ditch the backup, and we'll see what happens next round? One on one," came his call, a smirk on the boy's face as he delivered the lackluster jeer.

Perhaps the spell had jostled his brain more than originally anticipated; Thomas cringed a bit at his terrible attempt at trash talk. While riling people up was usually his strong suit, today just wasn't his day. Belatedly, the young wizard considered that his failure was likely due in part to the fact that this time, he was actively trying to be annoying, rather than let his passive factor of obnoxiousness take hold of his demeanor. Figures. The cocky smile was wiped from his face as he resumed focus on the task at hand: winning, of course!

ROUND 5

Damion was a little shocked with what had happened. He had got hit and fell on the ground. He was happy that his spell had hit his target. This wasn't what he was expecting to happen. He wasn't sure how he had been so careless but well he had been that careless. He was just trying to get back on his feet. He was ready to be back in the game.

What a round! It was amazing what a little positive thinking could do when you're in a pinch, and Dealla Price sure was praying to Merlin and thinking positive thoughts throughout this round. Good thing too, otherwise she would have fainted had she not dodged in time or if her Queen didn't put out those flames in time. Poor dear has rotten luck what with Mr. Thorn continuously aiming for her. But that was the way of dueling and it was a lesson many people had to learn early on. Best that it be learned in a non-fatal match at a school event.

Another pair of duelers who always aimed for one another were Mr. Warren and Miss Fransson. For a foreigner, she sure had a grudge against little Jack, but maybe a small thrashing from a girl would settle that boy's pride and cool him down a bit. And settling the boy's pride is exactly what that lass did as her Flipendo connected and smacked the boy back quick fast! Thankfully, he wasn't knocked over. Unfortunately, Jack's own spell backfired on him, causing additional damage to his person. It was a good thing that he didn't set him aflame with his reckless casting. Another student had a spell backfire and it was quite a sight. Dancing around their teammates, Mars couldn't control their feet long enough to stand still. At least this wouldn't hinder their spell casting in the next round. Sickly Theodore was still snotting around the platform while trying to cast at Santario, but she was much faster at dodging his spells than he was at casting them. He was becoming awfully sluggish as the duel continued.

Hopefully in the next round will be just as exciting as the last two.
