A New Adventure!!
"Mum! I've got everythin' there! Ye already checked it nine times over!" Aoife whined as her mother checked over her luggage for the tenth time in the past hour.
Saoirse Lovett mother of the three children waiting to board the Hogwarts express clicked her tongue chidingly at her youngest as she shut her daughter's trunk. "Yer tellin' me tha' righ' now young lady! But jus' you wait, mark ma' words you'll find somethin' missin' and yer goin' tae be mailin yer father an' I 'bout it." She said shaking her head hands upon her hips.
A laugh came from Aoife's oldest brother "Jus' let her do this Aoife you know mum she's just not wantin' tae see leave the nest." He said teasingly reaching over to ruffle Aoife's hair. Meanwhile the middle child of the Lovett clan seemed far more interested in looking around the milling crowds of students flooding the platform. Caleb Lovett the patriarch of the family sighed as he restacked his oldest daughter's cart after his wife's last-minute inspection. "Moira?" he called out. Getting no response from his oldest daughter as she continued to stare off into the crowd he sighed reaching out to flick the back of her ear. "Oi!" He said.
Moira yelped quickly turning to face her father. "What was tha' fer da?" She said rubbing her ear a sour expression on her face. "You and yer li'l boyfriend are going tae the same place. Can ye stop pinin' for 'im for a few moments?" He said with a smug smirk somewhat amused by the reaction he'd managed to squeeze out of Moira. "Look I jus' wanted tae ask ye to keep a close eye on yer little sister. You know 'ow adventurous she can get a' times." Caleb said his smirk softening into a smile.
Moira looked over toward where her mother stood fussing over the youngest child in their family and then back to her father. "Yeah I'll keep an eye out fer the little monster." She said looking back over at her father receiving an approving nod at her answer. She spotted a familiar face over her father's shoulder and immediately stepped past her father. "Once we get to school tha' is." She said hastily as she ran into the arms of her boyfriend much to her father's chagrin.
"You send us an owl as soon as you get there understand?" Saoirse said cupping her youngest's cheeks. Aoife rolled her eyes "I know mum! I will!" she said. A loud whistled filled the platform as steam plumed up from the chimney of the train engine.
"ALL ABOARD!!" One of the ushers called out across the platform. Almost instantly attendants began to assist students with bringing their luggage aboard. Goodbyes were said and already Moira and Liam had gone to find seats on the train leaving Aoife herself alone with their parents. Aoife felt her mother pull her into her arms holding on tightly as if she she never meant to allow the little 11-year-old go. "You behave yerself understand?" Saoirse said sounding as if she was on the verge of tears. Aoife could hear the raw emotion in her mother's voice and threw her arms around her mother's middle holding on just as tightly. "I will...Promise." She said raising her head to look up at her mother.
She watched her mother swipe her sleeve across her eyes before releasing Aoife from her hold. "Alrigh' Go say goodbye to yer father she said giving her daughter a small pinch on the cheek accompanied with a loving smile. Aoife returned the smile squeezing her mother one more time before turning to face her father only to squeak as she was scooped up into a bearhug by the man who'd raised her. "You stay out of trouble you hear? You don't want yer mum to die o'fright." He said as he embraced his daughter. Aoife wrapped her arms around her father's neck returning the hug "I'll try." She said smiling before being placed back onto her feet. Her father looked upon her warmly and ruffled her hair "An' if you do get up to anything? At least don't get caught alright?" He said.
An attendant approached looking over at the family "Might want to be boardin' soon if you want to find a proper seat love." They said with a weak smile slightly regretful at breaking up the goodbye. Caleb nodded "Their right go on now." He said ushering Aoife toward the train. "Make sure to write!" He called out as Aoife moved across the platform to board the train. As she climbed aboard almost immediately she found the corridors of the trains filled with students all milling about meeting with friends and the like and trying to track down compartments for themselves. Aoife weaved through the throng of students trying to find any compartment that might have space.
Doing so was far harder than she'd anticipated, She'd already come across both of her siblings but unfortunately, she found her brother sitting in a packed compartment accompanied by all of his friends. And his sister she found snogging her boyfriend near the back of the train beside the WC so she definitely didn't plan on hanging about any longer to witness that. Finally she came across one compartment that surprisingly hadn't been claimed yet. Though she was sure it wouldn't be long before she wasn't alone in it either.
Moving to the window she heard the train's whistle blow once more the entire train lurching as it slowly began to move. Looking out at the crowds gathered upon the platform she spotted her mother and father amidst them and grinned as she pulled the window down and waved goodbye until the train left the platform and London behind.
