The young girl smiled at her friend, before leaning her head back on his shoulder. Looking at the lake was a good pastime, and thinking about what life be under the waters of the Great Lake was an often occurrence with the Hurst girl. She shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly at his praise of sorts, and reached one of her hands up to tuck a piece of hair behind her ear. "I'm just being a friend, loser," She mentioned, poking his thigh with her index finger.

She was so, so glad that Reid was able to come with her to Hogwarts. She was really happy with the fact that she had a piece of home with her at all times - in human form. Staying in Derby had never been such an afterthought before.

"Speaking of Quidditch, I'm trying out too. I think I could make it onto Hufflepuff's team."

Sabrina rose an eyebrow at Reid. A friendly competition, then? They have had plenty already, some resulting in her having sprained fingers and road rash, but it was still the norm for the two friends. "Really? I hope you do make it in. It would be fun to play against you. Plus, you'd be good at it!" She mentioned, nudging his side slightly with her shoulder.

"Is your mom okay with you playing Quidditch, Sab? I still have to convince mine, she worries too much."

A small laugh came from the equally small girl. Of course her mother wasn't alright with her playing the wizard sport, but it wouldn't stop Sabrina. Her mother knew that well, but she still made sure to mention that she doesn't like the idea of Sabrina playing in every letter she sends. "No, I don't think she is. But I'm going to play anyways. It's like ever since that bike accident she doesn't trust me with stuff like this." She rolled her eyes a little bit, but didn't continue on.

She sat up from her relaxed position then, sitting up straight and stretching her arms up in the air, groaning. Her back arched, and it was honestly a really good stretch. She looked behind her at Reid, before standing up and dusting off the back of her robe from any remainders of dirt. She turned around and lent out her hand, a playful grin on her face, "Let's go walk around the lake?"

That was true. He would be playing against her, would they end up hurting each other? He heard a lot about the role of beaters and he didn't know if he'd be able to end up ever aiming at Sabrina. Perhaps he made a mistake in the role he had his mind set on or he just needed stop being such a wimp. It wasn't like football where they would directly penalize you for trying to hurt the enemy team. What if he did end up hitting Sabrina and injuring her more than he intended?

It seemed like something she'd forgive him for despite probably losing a tooth or two. He sighed in relief as she got up from him, he missed feeling the blood circulate through his legs. Although he did like the warmth that another person gave off in general. "A walk?" he mused, taking her hand. Reid pulled himself up from the ground and stood up with the help of Sabrina. He didn't brush the grass much from himself, but he did pick his wand up from the floor.

The height between the two of them didn't bother him much till now, he realized she was taller than him by a small bit. The young boy frowned slightly, using his hand to check the difference between the two of them. He didn't say anything about what he was doing, despite how apparent it was and held his elbow out to her in a joking fashion. He saw his mum watch a lot of Downtown Abbey and he always made fun of their proper mannerisms in the show. "Red looks like your color. What position are you going for in the team?" he asked. Reid really didn't know what would be best for Sabrina. She was fast, sometimes too fast that it worried him - chaser maybe, seeker even.

"Trouble usually finds me."

It didn't take too much effort for Sabrina to help pull Reid to his feet. Her feet did slide a little bit in the dirt, though. The grip on her shoes was equal to that of a piece of rubber.  She smiled at him once he was up, but that look quickly changed into one of confusion as he tried to measure their height with his other hand. She had a tight grip on his other hand, and probably wouldn't let go anytime soon, so that was out of the question.

"What exactly are you doing?" She asked with a small laugh. He stopped and held out his elbow then, though, so she happily linked her arm through his. She made sure to then tug him along towards the edge of the lake so they could begin their short trek that Sabrina had not yet quite planned out fully, but she had an idea. She usually just walked wherever her feet took her. Most times, it ended well for her, and she even got to see something pretty. Sometimes... not so much. She could run into trouble very easily.

"Red looks like your color. What position are you going for in the team?"

That was a question that Sabrina had thought hard on, herself. She wasn't sure if she wanted to be a beater, or a seeker. She only wanted to be a beater because they had a bat like in that muggle sport - baseball? And she happened to be kind of alright with it. That she learned in muggle school during gym class. "I don't know for sure yet," She shrugged, her voice high-pitched with uncertainty, "I kind of want to go for seeker, but I'm not confident in myself for that I don't think." She mumbled, her cheeks lighting up a shade of pink at the admittance of her self-confidence being low about something.

Normally, Sabrina was a pretty confident girl, and that's why she hurt herself so often doing silly things. She believes she can do it, and so she tries, and she fails. Maybe that would be how trying out for Quidditch would go. She thinks she can do it, but in reality, she is one of the worst possible players out there. God, she hoped not. She had only watched the game on T.V., not played her herself. What if other people had more experience than her? She could be totally doomed.

"Yellow suits you, too, Kovacs," She teased, reaching her free hand up to poke the yellow and black Hufflepuff crest on his robe. She was telling to truth about that much; yellow was a naturally amazing colour on her best friend. He should wear it all the time. Well, not like he has much of a choice now, but even on Winter and Summer breaks. It looked great. "What position do you wanna snag? Keeper?" She grinned, just as they reached the edge of the lake from their spot by the tree.

Sabrina's attention to Reid dwindled as she looked down at the water closest to her. Even though it was close to the shore, the water looked like it had plenty of depth. She was scared of falling in, and that made her guide them in the direction that made it so Reid would be the one closest to the water, rather than her. She may have had a slight (big) fear of swimming, more like drowning, but that was still one of her own personal secrets. Only those who were forced to see her try and swim knew just how awful it could be.

There was no issue with keeping up with the redhead, but he made sure not to trip over his feet. Better yet, he made sure not to trip over Sabrina's. His dress shoes crunched against the ground, the earth moved easy under him and it made it a little hard to walk. His arm stayed stuck out, relaxing a little once he got into the rhythm of it all. It was an easy day, so he didn't have anything particular on his mind. They were general questions for Sabrina for the most part, he just wanted to know everything that she's been up to this whole time.

"Seeker." he repeated with a look of approval. He would love to see Sabrina be a seeker, he's head it was a difficult role. It required speed, something that he knew that Sabrina had a knack for after beating him so many times. He just hoped that she wouldn't crash this time around, it actually tensed him to think about it. What if she crashed and got seriously hurt? It seemed like magic could fix anything, but it would completely take him out of the game to see it happen. "Keeper? I'm definitely not a keeper. I think I'd be a pretty good beater for Hufflepuff." he wolfishly grinned.

He gently tugged her linked arm though, her hesitance earlier didn't go unnoticed. It was a little odd to see his friend not so confident in her abilities, she always had that charming gung-ho attitude he was so used to. He leaned his head slightly towards her as they talked, "I don't think I can see you as anything but a seeker. You're the fastest person I know, a little too fast sometimes." He patted his the arm she linked with his, looking pretty cheery in the meantime. "You're going to get seeker, I know it. We can celebrate too if you want? Hot chocolate? Or maybe candy."

There was a twinkle in his eye, a look he got when he got excited about something. He genuinely hoped she got the role, it would be fantastic to see his friend win the game all by herself. But if he also got into the team, he'd have to work against her. Would he be able to launch a bludger at her? It might be difficult, he would hurt her it the end of it. It made his stomach turn at the thought of it, he didn't know if he'd be able to continue the game if he saw Sabrina get hurt.

Maybe signing up for the team would just impede them.  Reid noticed how he seemed to inch closer and closer to the water, but largely paid no mind to it. In fact, he began to walk even closer, almost having his shoes touch the water as a result.

"Trouble usually finds me."

Honestly, this was one of Sabrina's most comfortable moments. Being with Reid was serenity, and she could relish in this feeling for the rest of her life. She looked at his face, noting that he had changed a little bit from what she remembered. He was lankier, and even though she was a smidge taller than he was, she felt the need to say she was looking up at him. His hair had grown out a bit, and she was forced to take a mental image of him now to keep with her forever. She'd have to stop picturing him as he was in Derby now, though. Or else she might just end up not recognizing him altogether. What a spooky event that would be.

The girl's short red hair flew back behind her, and her lips pursed. The wind was a warm one, but bits of cold wind mixed in with it. She assumed that this would be what tornado weather is like, but she doubted that it would go anywhere beyond a lightning storm. She hoped it didn't, though, because being forced to go inside on such a nice, sunny day would be pretty much the worst.

"Keeper? I'm definitely not a keeper. I think I'd be a pretty good beater for Hufflepuff."

Sabrina let out a laugh at her joke coming back to her, and she felt herself moving herself a little closer to the boy next to her as another gust of air came by them. She felt like going on a run to warm up, but she didn't feel like wrecking the peace between her and Reid at the moment. Plus, the last time they raced, she ended up with three broken fingers. Well, they were sprained, but they felt broken enough. "Hmm, a beater. I support it." She grinned widely, then reached up her finger to poke his positively squishy cheek.

"I don't think I can see you as anything but a seeker. You're the fastest person I know, a little too fast sometimes."

Her grin dwindled into a look of confusion, before she realized that the topic was referring back to her mentioning going after Seeker. Was she really awkward enough to tell? God, she had to work on that, or else she'll end up embarrassing herself sometime. A breathy laugh followed, and she looked down from his face to the grass that was turning to sand underneath their feet. "Thanks, I guess you have a point. But then again, maybe you're just slow." She teased. At first, she had been serious, but she had to make a joke out of it somehow. Serious situations just weren't for her, and that felt just a little bit serious.

"You're going to get seeker, I know it. We can celebrate too if you want? Hot chocolate? Or maybe candy."

Somehow, this boy seemed to make Sabrina feel better all in a couple of words. She could just yell about the fact that she had such a good friend. She doubted anyone else had such a good one. "How about both?" She suggested, licking her lips as to moisten them a little bit, "I can't say no to hot chocolate, especially with marshmallows." She grinned, looking back at Reid.

He looked kinda nice contrasted against the deep colours of the Great Lake. He was cute, and the thought made Sabrina shake her head a little. She looked away as quickly as she looked at him, and in the other direction completely. There were trees, and grass, and even a bird flew from one tree to another. Interesting enough.

Reid's hair had grown out a little since their time in Derby. It was wilder, like a kid who was left in the Forbidden Forest for two days at least. It clearly wasn't as well kept as the other students, not with the way that some of the ends just stood out. The wind easily tousled it sometimes and the brown stood out in the sunlight. His uniform wasn't always well kept either, such as his currently loose tie look. It was probably hard to tell he was someone who held a higher position than student.

But he thankfully didn't smell the way he looked, he might not even smell like anything but burning wood. Since the common room was near the kitchen, the area always seemed to smell something pleasant. Reid snickered at her poking his cheek, tugging his head away from Sabrina's finger. He swatted it away and continued walking with the girl. He threw both of his arms up, possibly hers in the process, and yelled, "Both it is! Hot chocolate and marshmallows!"

He didn't care who heard him, he was going to celebrate the moment when she gets seeker. Time and time again, Sabrina always brought out the side in him he was often too conscious to show to others. Part of him was the quiet and reserved kid, mellow to strangers, and the other was the one who would hoot and holler at the moon if he wanted around people like Sabrina. He lowered his arms and readjusted them in case she still wanted to link arms with an oddball like him.

There was still something he wanted to show and tell her, not to brag, but to show her he made some progress. "Hey, did I tell you?" Reid used his free hand to fish out a black and yellow badge from his pocket to show it to her. It was a little dirty but it said 'Head Boy' in clear letters. "Don't let me catch out past curfew, Hurst." he smirked, gently nudging her. "I'd hate to send Gryffindor's star seeker to the Headmaster's office."

"Trouble usually finds me."

To say that Sabrina was a little surprised about her friend's sudden actions was an understatement. A laugh protruded from her lips, and she made sure to unlink her arm from his before it go up high in the air. She shook her head at him, licking her lips again. Reid Kovacs was probably the one person that she couldn't predict after knowing him for her entire life. She didn't expect him to do that, that was for sure. But she went along with it all the same, hollering after him, "Woo! Hot chocolate and marshmallows!"

It sounded like they were cheering for some kind of badly named sports team, but it was fun all the same. She was more than glad to loop her arm back through Reid's, though. It gave her some kind of secure feeling, one that she liked, and with Reid walking on the other side of her - closer to the lake - she definitely did feel safe. At least she couldn't potentially get dragged down into the dark depths of the lake by merfolk or something. Not that they ventured close enough to the shore to do so, but nothing could stop an eleven year old's imagination.

"Hey, did I tell you?"

A million thoughts ran through Sabrina's mind about what he could have not told her yet. Did he have a crush? Did he get an O on his first homework? Did he get the nerve to actually talk to more people than she was aware of? None of the thoughts seemed to lead to the true answer, because soon enough Reid was pulling out the Head Boy badge, and a huge grin spread across the girl's face, "You? Really?" She asked, excitement lacing through her words. She reached out to take the badge from him, turning it over in her hands to inspect it, "Is this real?" She questioned before passing it back to him.

"Don't let me catch out past curfew, Hurst. I'd hate to send Gryffindor's star seeker to the Headmaster's office."

Sabrina laughed at this - she wasn't even the Seeker of the team! There was still a good chance that she wouldn't be. She was sure that plenty of people would be aiming for the spot, and she was definitely not the best-equipped for the job, even if she did like to go fast. Nothing would stop her from trying, though. "I'll stay past curfew all the time now, if it means getting caught by you," She mentioned, not noticing how that probably came out a lot flirtier than she meant for it to be. In all honesty, she was thinking about how it would equate to spending more time with him, rather than using it as some kind of pick-up line. She didn't even know what a pick-up line was.

Whatever Sabrina meant, Reid took it as nothing more than a compliment. Maybe that was bad or that was good, but the boy beamed rather happily at the statement. He would have said the same thing to her. "It's not guaranteed it's going to be me. It could be the other prefects, like Bloom Silverton from Ravenclaw." He froze slightly at the mention of the name, it was the first name that popped up. It also was the name he was a little nervous to tell Sabrina about. His body tensed and his hand slightly curled.

It wasn't that he didn't like Bloom, he was just always in precarious situations with the girl. The boy fell into a slight silence, his brows furrowing as he used his free hand to run his hand through his hair. Reid wanted to tell her, but he was afraid of telling her. What if she thought he was weird? He already was, but the situation back in the potion's classroom wasn't exactly anything but normal. "Speaking of ... I like to tell you everything, right?" he began, glancing at the girl beside him.

He made a noise in the back of his throat and stuck his free hand in the pocket of his dress pants. "Bloom and I were looking for this place called the Room of Requirement in Professor Ethel's classroom. She broke this glass and ..." The boy took his hand out of his pocket, moving it about in a way that reinforced his discomfort. "She smelled it accidentally and it turned out to be a love potion, I think. It made things just awkward for me and her ..."

Reid pursed his lips and sighed, hanging his head a little. "Again." It wasn't the first time, there were other times that he realized he didn't tell Sabrina about. But it came down to the matter of whether she was interested in his plights or not. Sometimes he was worried that he complained to her too much or he bothered her about things that didn't matter.

But even if she told him to shut up, he'd agree right away. It was so easy to talk too much nowadays. He glanced at Sabrina again. "But it's not like she means any of it, everything bad seems to happen to her when I'm around. Bad luck charm." he wryly smiled.

"Trouble usually finds me."

"It's not guaranteed it's going to be me. It could be the other prefects, like Bloom Silverton from Ravenclaw."

It wasn't the fact that there was a chance it wouldn't be Reid catching her if she snuck out past curfew that confused the Gryffindor, but rather who Bloom Silverton was. Why was she the name that he decided to drop? Was it intentional? Did he have a crush on her? She had no clue why, but the idea of Reid crushing on someone got her a little worked up. She didn't want to lose her best friend, is what she claimed it to be, but really she was just a teeny bit jealous. Though she shouldn't of been, because she was twelve, and Reid was simply her best friend. There was no need to get jealous over someone whom she didn't even know. "Who's Bloom?" She asked curiously, her usually smooth voice cracking a little bit, looking away from her friend to try and hide her furrowed brow.

"Speaking of ... I like to tell you everything, right?"

The question made Sabrina slightly uneasy, but she nodded her head twice in confirmation. She told him everything and anything that went on with her, and she expected that he did the same. What if he really did like this Bloom girl? Would that mean she would be hanging around them now? God, she didn't know if she could get used to another girl. She could hardly communicate with them, let alone try and befriend one to make Reid happy.

"Bloom and I were looking for this place called the Room of Requirement in Professor Ethel's classroom. She broke this glass and ... She smelled it accidentally and it turned out to be a love potion, I think. It made things just awkward for me and her ... Again."

Well, that was unexpected. "How did it make things awkward for you guys?" She asked curiously, unlinking her arm from his and tucking them together behind her back. The weight of the book she currently had on her was pulling down at her pocket, and everytime she took a step the book would bounce against her leg, but she tried not to pay it too much mind, because that wasn't what was at hand currently. "Again?" She exasperated, her eyebrows shooting up as she looked back over to Reid, "When was the first time? Why are you only telling me this now?!" She asked, nudging his shoulder with one of her fists. "Do you like her though? Does she like you, you think?" She questioned. And like they say, curiosity killed the cat. She just hoped that she wasn't making things awkward between her and Reid now. She doubted he would keep anything like that away from her, though.

The questions came like a barrage and he didn't know how to properly answer them all at the same time. It left him stuttering a little as he tried to gather all of what Sabrina asked him. "Wait, wait, I'm uh ..." Where was he supposed to begin? Maybe he should tell her the important parts. But what were the important parts in the first place? No, he should tell her everything. "Bloom confessed that she liked me, this was probably a month ago and I said we should stay friends. She's dating another boy named Ben Eckenrode, who is pretty nice. Me and him played football together." he mused.

Reid stopped walking to think, his hand came up to rub his forehead as he did so. Irrelevant. Well was it? He inhaled and then exhaled, sorting through his messy conscious to figure out entirely how to explain it. "I got that cut here because me and her nearly got killed by that tree. We've poked around a couple of times, talked a couple of times, and somehow something goes wrong. But about the potion room, it just got awkward when we didn't mean it to. She got really uh ..." Reid rolled his hand a couple of times, curling one into a fist as he let them fall to his side. What was the word? He kept his gaze away from her, puffing his cheeks for a second before huffing.

"Touchy? She said she loved me and was really persistent about it too. Honestly, it's the potions fault. Now I feel weird around her, well I'm trying not to, yeah? What if Ben finds out?" He glanced at her, wondering if she had a look of confusion from what he just said. Reid shook his head and shoved his hands in his pockets before beginning to walk once again. What was he trying to get at? He really didn't know, he just had to get it off his chest perhaps. Was confusion this normal at his age? "She's a really nice person, Bloom. I'm comfortable around her most of the time. But after that incident, not as normally as I use to." He sharply inhales, turning himself to face her if she was even following him.

Reid didn't realize he just began walking off as he talked. "Things have gone wrong when I'm around, it sucks. I feel like a bad luck charm, is that weird to say? Like - a girl who I know named Felicity Greenwich fell and sprained her foot. Now I don't even see her anymore. Bloom got hurt almost three times around me I'm pretty sure. Plus the Hufflepuff campout trip went wrong too."

He threw his hands up in the air and loudly sighed, swinging them back down as he finally was able to release his frustrations. Reid felt like a bad friend, unintentionally, it was a little overwhelming. "All of this has happened since I came to Hogwarts." he muttered dejectedly, shaking his head to look at the lake.

"Trouble usually finds me."
