August 17th
Katrina wandered down from her room wearing her pajamas and hair up in a messy bun. Boomerang trailed lazily at her feet, rubbing against her legs affectionately when she paused to yawn. It was already late morning, but she had slept in for the first time since she could remember. Apparently sleep debt was a real thing. Katrina reached her arms up to stretch and wandered into the Great Hall. She took a seat at one of the chairs and a faint smile grew across her face when Boomerang leapt into her lap.

She was so tired. Katrina pulled her arms up and rested her head down, fighting the urge to let her eyelids flutter closed. Another yawn overtook her and when her eyes closed, they didn't open again. Soon enough, Katrina was fast asleep, a cute little snore escaping her mouth occasionally. If she didn't wake up soon, she would miss what would be a coincidence to end all coincidences.

Katrina dreamed of summer and ice cream and shopping and everything she had to do. Apparently, not sleeping well for months years actually caught up to you eventually. Thankfully, this sleep was devoid of her common nightmares, but it was such deep sleep that she would need a bit more than usual to wake up.

Matrix would walk into Leaky Cauldron. He had woken up just an hour ago, but was wide awake. He did not really have a reason to be there, but a broken down place on a busy street? Of course he would check it out!

He would not order anything and walk over to the dining hall. Matrix would look around for open tables to sit at and would find all of them full except for a larger size table with only a girl with her head down. Matrix would decide to take a seat at the table. “Hello?” He called out to the girl. In response, he got a snore. Matrix wondered about why she was sleeping. Matrix would look around and would see people come out from rooms. This must be pub with sleeping accommodations. He would sigh, looking at the girl again. If someone wanted to sleep, then they should of done it in the rooms upstairs.

“Leaky Cauldron” Matrix would mutter to himself. The name seemed familiar but he could not put a finger on from where. It seemed ordinary to him. He looked at the menu next, seeing if there was anything that he could purchase. Now that he realized it, he was kind of hungry.

The morning of August 17th, Allie had decided to visit the Leaky Cauldron, a wizarding inn and pub in Diagon Alley. She liked going to Diagon Alley, there was always so many witches and wizards around to talk to, and so much to see and do. Even though it was quite early in the morning, Allie made her way deeper into London.

Standing outside the Leaky Cauldron, she looked up at the small building. It was her first time coming here, so she was slightly surprised that it looked so. . . small. It was a very popular place among the wizarding folks. Shrugging, Allie pushed open the door and stepped inside.

The interior of the pub was dim, but still bright enough for Allie to see. She noticed only one table in the room, was open. Even this early in the morning the Leaky Cauldron was full to the brim with customers. That's when she remembered that the Leaky Cauldron also had rooms upstairs where witches and wizards could stay in.

Walking closer to the table, Allie saw two other people sitting there already. Not able to see them very well, Allie shrugged to herself and waved to one of them. "Hello," she said. Then she realized one of them was sleeping and she quickly shut her mouth, hoping she hadn't woken her up.

Katrina could hear noise something was interrupting her dream. But she was just so tired. She could sleep in a little while longer, couldn't she? But then the noise simply grew in volume. Conversations layered atop one another. Voices, a meow, talk about magic, the scent of food. All of those combined aspects drew Katrina slowly from the darkness that was her dream.

"Leaky Cauldron"
"Hello,"

Slowly, Katrina's mind shook away the sleep and she awoke. The first thing she did was sit up so fast that Boomerang rolled right off her lap and onto the floor with an indignant meow. Her eyes darted around wildly until they took in two strangers standing somewhat close to her and staring at her. Embarrassment worked up a rosy tinge on her cheeks. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes and the side of her face, hoping no sleep lines were there.

"I'm... sorry, I uh--" Katrina paused, a yawn interrupting her stuttering, "Can I help you? Did I miss something?" Had she really just fallen asleep in a public place? With people around? In a pub?! Hopefully they wouldn't get the wrong impression. Excuses bubbled up and Katrina was hardly able to clamp them down.

Mind still blurry from sleep, Katrina stretched again picking up Boomerang and plopping him on her lap. "Would you like the table? I can-- uh-- go if you want?" Perhaps they had come together? Was she taking up the only empty seats?

Had she seriously fallen asleep?

Cedar had ditched her. Again. Seriously, what was so bad about reading a few books in a bookstore? Flourish and Blotts wasn't that bad. Although, it was possible it might've just been the fact that, once Miranda started reading, she didn't stop anytime soon.

In fact, it had taken her a while to even notice her brother was missing, and several more before she actually finished the exiting part of her book and decided to search for him.

She'd left Diagon Alley shortly after that and headed to the Leaky Cauldron, determined to get a snack, and if luck was with her, maybe find her younger brother.

As it turned out, luck wasn't with her. Cedar wasn't there, although several other people she didn't know were. In fact, Miranda actually spotted a girl she'd only briefly met in the library at one of the tables. And was she...sleeping?

Curious, Miranda made her way closer and glanced around, then startled when she noticed two other people with the girl. Well, maybe she could talk to them, too. There was nothing else she had planned for the day, anyhow.

"Hello?" Miranda said, voicing it as a question as she approached the table, then jumped again as the previously sleeping girl woke up.

“Hello” Matrix would hear a familiar voice behind him and would turn around and see Allie. “ Oh Allie! What a coincidence” Mattix would exclaim in a low voice, trying not to disturb the sleeping girl. Suddenly, he would sense movement from the sleeping girl and would look at her. The girl would sit up so fast that a cat he had not seen before jumped onto the floor. In the same manner, Matrix would suddenly stiffen and sit up straight. The girl seemed young, about his age.

“I am sooooo sorry for waking you up” Matrix had tried his best to keep quiet but apparently he was not quiet enough. "Am I good at anything?” Matrix would think to himself. He would then let out a sigh. The girl would then ask if she wanted to move to another table. “N- no. You are fine! Do you want me to move” Matrix would instinctively stand up. “What if she was waiting for someone! Maybe that’s why she was sitting on the table, alone. Matrix! You idiot” Matrix would be thinking. Leave it up to him to think of the worst case scenario! Behind him, he would hear another voice. Matrix would jump again. “ I am sorry, am I in your way” Matrix would blush a little for making such a big scene.

Allie noticed that the boy sitting at the table was Matrix Kaida, who she had met not too long ago. "Oh Allie! What a coincidence!" he said. Allie gave him a smile and opened her mouth to say something, but then realized the other girl who had previously been sleeping had woken up. She turned to her, a pink tinge appearing on her cheeks.

"I'm so sorry if I woke you up," Allie apologized. She noticed the girl seemed slightly older than her and Matrix. . . and she wasn't sure if the girl went to Hogwarts or not. If she did, she was most likely a second or third year. The girl was looking around a little sleepily and rubbing her cheek.

"I'm. . . sorry, I uh-- " The girl stammered, yawning in the middle of her sentence. "Can I help you? Did I miss something?" Allie looked at Matrix then back again and shook her head and watched as the girl plucked a cat off the ground and set it in her lap. When she looked up again she asked them, "Would you like the table? I can-- uh-- go if you want?" Allie shook her head again.

"No, no, it's all right," she reassured the older girl. "I just got here and this was the only table left. . ." She hesitated, wondering if she should offer to move but then realized there really was nowhere else to go. Opening her mouth to speak again, Allie added, "I'm Allie," just as Matrix offered to move tables.

"Hello?" Came a new voice from behind the trio. Allie spun around to see another girl walking towards them. She had light blonde hair and blue eyes, and was quite pretty.

"Hello," Allie replied. She remembered briefly seeing the girl before at Hogwarts. . . she tilted her head and introduced herself again anyway.

"No, you're definitely not in my way," Miranda replied, quickly shaking her head. "I was just coming to talk, because I haven't really had a chance to talk to any other, uh, magical folk since the end of last year. Excluding my family of course," she added on as an afterthought.

One of the girls at the table, the younger of the two, it seemed, looked over at Miranda and introduced herself as Allie.

"I'm Miranda," Miranda replied, sidestepping so she was out of the boy's way in case he wanted to leave. "And you're Katrina...right?" she added, nodding in the direction of the now-awake girl. Hopefully, she'd gotten the name right. It would be quite embarrassing if she didn't.

However, it was still nice to have met some other students, since all she'd expected to do while at Diagon Alley was buy a few new replacement books for the ones she'd finished or lost (and the ones she suspected Cedar had hidden), before going with her now-vanished brother to get some ice cream at Florean Fortescues'. Now though...well, all that planning had just flown out the window.

So, with nothing else to do, maybe it would be best to stay, at least until it became clear she was unwanted.

Katrina's mind was still blurry from sleep and she rubbed her eyes, hoping she didn't look quite like the confused child as she thought she did. Boomerang trotted out from under the table looking as tired as his owner did. He rubbed his small orange self across one boy's legs [Matrix]. Katrina looked up and counted, four people? Maybe more?

The boy [also Matrix] that was sitting, stood up, clearly embarrassed. Katrina shook her head, "No, you can sit, that's okay," Another person [Miranda] approached him and he jumped, clearly surprised to hear another voice.

Then there was also a girl [Allie] who apologized for waking Katrina up and Katrina didn't really know how to respond so she just shrugged indifferently. She introduced herself as Allie and Katrina nodded, her fuzzy mind clearing enough for her to catalogue her name.

There was a bit more talking and Katrina simply sat back in her chair, waiting for the sleep fuzz to die away so she could think. Her... foster parents... were in another room. But they always slept in (or had the only two days Katrina had ever spent with them). Katrina wasn't going to acknowledge them. She wasn't going to mention them. She was going to keep them a secret like she always did. It was better to pretend they didn't exist and lie about it than admit that she had wannabe parents.

"Yes, I am Katrina" Katrina addressed a the girl who had introduced herself as Miranda.

"You all can sit," Katrina gestured towards the table, hoping to eliminate the awkward standing around. Katrina grabbed into her pocket of her pajamas and took out a small handful of Gallions. At least her foster parents had been nice enough to give her some money. "They have coffee, hot coco, pumpkin juice, virgin butterbeers..." Katrina trailed off, offering to buy IC the students whatever they wanted from the menu.

A cat would rub his leg and Matrix looked down, pleasantly surprised. He loved animals, magic or non-magical, they where all wonderful. Matrix had the urge to bend down and pet him, but he did not know what the owner or cat would do if he did, so he resisted it. The girl who was sleeping would tell him that he was fine, and Matrix would take a breath of relief and sit down. “Nice cat you have there” He would say smiling.

The girl behind him would introduce herself as Miranda. She would tell him that she had come to talk to some more Magic folk. Matrix would nod at this, he also wanted to meet some people around his age. The girl who was sleeping would then introduce herself as Katrina. She would then take out a handful of Gallions and would offer to buy them something. “Thank you. I will get a Hot Chocolate” Matrix would say “But please allow me to pay for my own drink” Matrx would say taking out the correct amount of Gallions from his bag and slide it over the table to her. He would then realize that he may have seemed rude. “I apologize if I have offended you!” He would say quickly. Matrix would not want to be a burden on the girl, especially since they had just met. He also did not know if she was the kind of person to hold a favor against him.
