It happened in a flash.

Sky had retrieved the journal from Janet's grasp, leaving the blonde girl where she was, near the doorway. Ariana however, was frozen in panic once again, Sky was opening the journal, her lips were forming dreadful words. It was almost terrifying. It was as though she was living the memory again, it had been cast across to the ears of strangers, raw from them to see. Their efforts had been worthless, the snakehad won this time round.

“June 17th….Alejandras disappearance”

The words hit her with icy impact, the knife of guilt being dragged through her, her breathing was heavy- she was losing control. She yearned to yank the journal out of her grasp, to lurch forwards and prevent the snake from uttering another word, but she was rooted to the stop, frozen. A sense of dread was filling her, leaving no room for her to breathe, she was trapped, she couldn't move. Her eyes were closed, her head was spinning. Where was she? Was she falling? Her head felt dizzy. No. She had to stay conscious, she had to react. With immense effort she forced her eyes open and she stumbled a little, patches of light obscuring her vision as she tried to make out the surroundings of the classroom again...

And then Sky paused. She stopped. As though in slow motion she looked up, staring at Ariana dead in the eyes. The gryffindor thought she caught sight of a trace of pity hidden, regret. No. She didn't want pity, this was what she had been trying to avoid. Unlike Evans, Ariana felt no remorse for punching her stupid face and she would have done it again. How dare she have gone into her personal secrets, released such touchy information for others to see, humiliated her in front of others.

Ariana regained sense of her feet, feeling tingled down her spine once again and she blinked back furious tears, angry tears. She ran forward grabbing at the journal. It came easily, it seemed that the slytherin had been keen on letting it go. Green orbs sparkled with a mixture of tears and malicious hatred and Ariana's arm twitched suddenly as though itching to raise her fist against the slytherin once more, but she decided against it.

That was all she could force out. Shaky and unstable. Her voice was going to crack any moment now, she could possibly utter another word. Evans was sure to tell everyone. Would people who dislike her? Pity her? Think of her as guilty, a monster? She couldnt think straight and instead, strode away from the snake, her hatred for the pink-haired girl was stronger than ever, it was dangerously high. Bubbling, fresh, vindictive. But Ariana strode on, not even looking back towards Janet as she left the room, hoping that the girl would follow. She needed her, she needed her best friend.

If Sky had felt guilty before, it was nothing compared to now. The gryffindor was crying, actually crying. There was visible hurt in her eyes, even more so in her voice. The snake opened her mouth to say something, then closed it again. What would she say? She pushed the guilt to the back of her mind, why did she feel guilty anyways? It was Walkers fault, Walkers fault for leaving her bag here, for not being careful enough. She should have known. Therefore, instead of sending the girl an uncharacteristically sympathetic look, she sent her a sharp glare; although the hostile act didn't quite reach her eyes, for the brown hues were a mostly cloud of confusion, she had failed the concept of concealing her emotions, what was she to do?

Yet as Walker stepped away, she could help but feel relieved. She waited until the girl had silently left the classroom, before stepping forward slowly to grasp her bag from the table. She stood fully upright, replacing her look of confusion with one of arrogance. This was much preferred. Fastening her bag up tightly, she strolled to the entrance of the classroom, keen on exiting at last. Jackson was still there, but Sky had the feeling that she wasn't up for a fight, didn't the girl need to find wherever her stupid best friend had got off to?

She put her nose in the air as she passed her, barely hesitating in her steps as she exited the classroom and continued her way down the corridor. Do doubt this memory was to stick in her head for a while, it was almost impossible to be rid of. All she wanted right now was to be up in her dorm, away from the students of the castle, solo in her wake aside from her violent storm of thoughts.
Sky had left the thread.

Janet shook off a feeling of surprise as the normally gentle hufflepuff May punched her, it wasn't hard, so Janet wasn't very concerned but she was slightly shocked at the uncharacteristic move. She was also angry at the stupid girl for trying to get in her way, Janet was trying to help Ariana here and May wasn't exactly helping by punching her. May should've known not to mess with Janet's temper and the angry girl was just debating punching her back ten times harder when the diary slipped out of her grasp and the next thing she knew Sky was holding it, smirking as she opened it at random and started to read it out loud.
“June 17th….Alejandras disappearance....”
But she stopped there, casting a slightly pitiful look towards Ariana that was quickly disguised into one of arrogance she dropped the diary. Janet stifled a gasp and looked in horror at Ari, her face was red and she was fighting back tears, finally giving in and letting the tears trickle down her cheeks. Janet couldn't even begin to imagine how she must feel, that stupid snake had just revealed her darkest secret, and now all the people in the room would know. Before leaving the room Ariana looked up at Sky defiantly and said shakily,
“Find someone else to bother with that intrusive attitude of yours''
Then she turned and strode away, without another word.
Janet could definitely see a hint of guilt in the slytherin's face now, however hard she tried to hide it. She didn't even bother trying to excuse herself before exiting the room. Janet was absolutely furious at the idiotic girl now, she yelled at her back,
"I hope you're happy now you stupid snake! You just can't rest until you've made everyone miserable can you?!"
She followed her and ran out, on her way to comfort her best friend who would probably be in the need of a little sympathy right now, however much she denied it.
