Dancing to the sound of silence OPEN Locked

"Of course I would," Lucia replied, slightly confused by the question. "It'd be really fun, I think..."
She sighed wistfully.
Lyra spoke again, offering Lucia use of her ballet shoes.
"You'd be willing to let me?" asked the Hufflepuff cautiously. She knew that there were certain things that she didn't like people borrowing - her sewing kit, for example, or her trunk - and wanted to give Lyra a chance to back out if she so wanted to.
Suddenly Lucia remembered her manners, and she quickly added, "It'd be very nice of you."
Then, Lucia had a thought. And it wasn't a good one either. What if the Ravenclaw was only offering out of pity?
Pity that Lucia Fox had never had dancing lessons, that she didn't have the proper footwear, it didn't really matter, but Lucia did not like to be pitied.
Pitying someone, if you are going to do it at all, should be because of something that they themselves don't like about themselves or their situation, and Lucia did not mind about not having lessons, or not having shoes.
Of course, if she were offered them she would take them, but she knew that she should not ask, and she wouldn't. Ebony had enough to worry about as it was.

Lucia eventually explained her circumstances and why she danced barefoot. Carolyn immediately realised how fortunate she was in that regard. True, her parents were hardly ever home because of their jobs but they loved her and made sure she had everything she needed. Not that they spoiled her, definitely not. Carolyn always had to earn her stuff but the fact that they could afford it was obviously very important. The young witch wished she brought her old dancing shoes but she wasn’t sure how much she would get to dance at Hogwarts so she didn’t in the end. Thankfully, Lyra seemed to have that one covered. Carolyn smiled at her friend. That was really nice of her. To be perfectly honest, she didn’t pity the new girl. Instead, she found her passion admirable. She wanted to dance and she did, no matter the circumstances. The Ravenclaw would definitely do the same in her situation but not everybody would.

“That’s great then. I'm sure your feet will be much more comfortable that way,” Carolyn finally spoke again. “It looks like we all have our unique style. It might be fun to practice together once in a while,” she suggested with a smile. “Exchange the knowledge and maybe create something special?” She wouldn’t be pushy about the idea of course but it was certainly worth a try.
