Rising Waters
It was late afternoon when Allie came down to the Great Lake. Ever since coming to Hogwarts about a month ago, she had been all over the castle and it's grounds, but had actually only come this close to the water's edge once. So Allie had decided to come back and maybe read for a little bit, or just watch the sunset, which was sure to be a spectacular sight.
In the dim glow of light that came from the sun as it set, the water lapping on the sand looked dark and deep. Allie shivered slightly, as the temperature by the large lake was a little cooler than the temperature closer to the castle. As she watched the sunset, sitting on a rock that was near the water, something caught her eye.
Out on the water, there was a speck of light that seemed to be getting brighter and brighter with every minute passing by. Allie twirled a strand of her long brown hair around her finger, wondering what it was and if she should do anything. After a minute or so of contemplation, she stood up and started walking back to the castle, going to get someone who would know what to do.
When she was about one third up the path back to the school, Allie's foot caught on something and she tripped and fell, scraping her hand. "Seriously?" she muttered to herself. That's when she saw what she had tripped on.
A large gemstone, the size of Allie's fist sat in her path. It was a shimmering blue, one that matched the color of the Great Lake in the mornings. She reached out her hand to touch it, and then realized that probably wasn't the best idea and pulled her hand back.

@Allie LewisMiranda had headed outside that morning to escape the stuffiness of the school corridors, as well as to escape the constant annoyance that was her brother. If Cedar seemed determine Ned to annoy her until the year ended (which seemed to be her goal) Mirands would seriously consider using a full-body bind on him and locking him in a closet.
Shaking the negative thoughts awayy, she glanced around the grounds, her eyes lingering on the tops of the Forbidden Forest. While it was an interesting place to explore, sometimes the danger just wasn't worth it. And in her case, it almost hadn't been. Luckily, they'd managed to beat back the their attackers and escape. Wait, no, Miranda told herself. Stop thinking of the past and focus on the future!
She forced a smile onto her face and made her way down the grassy slops toward the Great Lake. During the heat, the prospect of swimming within it was more tempting than ever, but Miranda knew much too well what kinds of dangerous creatures lay in its depths. She'd taken it upon herself early on to research every magical creature on the school grounds, and the most prominent examples had come from there. So. Maybe not the best spot to swim.
A thud made her spin in surprise, and Miranda spotted a lone girl sitting on the path in such a way that it looked like she'd fallen. Wondering if the girl had been injured, Miranda made her way over. "Hello," she said with a concerned smile. "Are you okay? I heard you fall..." Her voice trailed off upon seeing the large gem in front of the girl. "Um, what's that?"

As second years, you can backdate your threads to June or before but this would be limited to second years + (first years would not have been in Hogwarts then).
As first years, you can RP any time up to end of September BUT only with other first years.
